Truth Social: Trump celebrated Tommy Tuberville’s win for the GOP nomination as governor of Alabama, Burt Jones advancing to the runoff in Georgia, Houston Gaines’ win for the nomination in Georgia’s 10th, Andrew Clyde in Georgia’s 9th, Stacy Garrity to challenge Josh Shapiro for governor of Pennsylvania, Mike Kelly for congress in Pennsylvania’s 16th, G.T. Thompson in PA’s 15th, Guy Reschenthaler for their 14th, John Joyce for their 13th, Lloyd Smucker for the 10th, Dan Mueser for 9th, Rob Bresnahan for the 8th, Ryan Mackenzie for the 7th, Clay Fuller for Georgia’s 14th, Rick Allen for their 12th, Austin Scott for their 8th, Rick McCormic for the 7th, Dale Strong for Alabama’s 5th, Andy Barr for Senate in Kentucky, James Comer for Kentucky’s 1st, Brett Guthrie for Kentucky’s 2nd, Hal Rogers for Kentucky’s 5th and, of course, Ed Gallrein for Kentucky’s 4th.
Yes: Some of those were incumbents without much of a challenge. But: The meta message is strong: The president is enormously effective at getting his candidates over the line in the primary. Now: on to November.
Candidates endorsed by President Trump won or advanced in 37 Republican primary races overnight, while two longtime Trump critics were defeated. The victories underscored Trump’s continued influence over Republican voters. NBC News’ Garrett Haake reports.
