In the same way a pacifist might appreciate those willing to sacrifice themselves in battle, as a cynicist, I appreciate those willing to see the world in a rosy light. In a world full of cynical people, I would not only be dull, but also a bad man. So I do love, honor, and value the naive and the optimistic, but. . . . I come with rotten tidings; I come to declare the irreconcilability of America’s two political ideologies and their adherents; I come to indulge in whatever exaggeration and hyperbole gets my point across most viscerally.
