The attorney helping Vice President Kamala Harris with debate preparation is also defending Google from the antitrust lawsuit brought by the Biden-Harris Department of Justice (DOJ), which government transparency advocates say presents a conflict of interest.
Karen Dunn, who is helping Harris prepare for Tuesday’s debate against former President Donald Trump, gave the opening statement Monday during Google’s trial. While there is nothing explicitly preventing Dunn from taking on both roles, experts say the campaign’s decision to work with her should raise concern.
“Somebody in the Harris Campaign should google ‘conflict of interest,’” Protect the Public’s Trust Director Michael Chamberlain told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Imagine being a DOJ attorney, working on this case in good faith. Your potential future boss is entrusting her campaign to someone who is working for one of DOJ’s most formidable opponent litigants — against you. That’s disheartening.”
Chamberlain noted there is “tremendous potential for abuse with the overlap of the Vice President’s political world and an executive branch agency.”
“Relationships like these ignite howls of outrage when they involve other campaigns,” he said.
Dunn has helped Democratic candidates in every presidential election since 2008 prepare for debates, according to The New York Times.
Matt Stoller, director of research at the American Economic Liberties Project, told the NYT that “you can’t serve both sides.”
“If these were legal cases, she would be ethically barred from doing what she’s doing,” Stoller said.
Stoller told the DCNF that there’s no formal ethics rule restricting Dunn because “the Harris campaign is a political campaign, not a lawsuit.”
While Richard Painter, former chief White House ethics lawyer during the George W. Bush administration, told the DCNF he sees the “theoretical conflict,” he also explained that “helping with debate prep is a way of volunteering for a campaign.”
“Lots of people and organizations both volunteer for campaigns and provide financial backing to campaigns that have business before the federal government,” Painter said.
The Trump campaign called Harris out over the potential conflict in August.
“Kamala Harris will never stand up to Big Tech because she’s being coached on what to say in the debates by Google’s top lawyer,” Trump campaign senior adviser Tim Murtaugh told Fox News. “Think about how outrageous it is — their administration is suing Google, but Harris is taking political advice from the defendant’s lawyer.”
The debate between Harris and Trump, which will take place at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is scheduled for 9 p.m. Tuesday on ABC News.
The Harris campaign and Dunn did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Unprecedented levels of immigration are reshaping the foundation of the U.S. economy, the American labor force, according to a recent analysis. Writing for The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, economics reporter Paul Kiernan stated, “Immigrants are swelling the population and changing the makeup of the U.S. labor force in ways that are likely to reverberate through the economy for decades.”
Kiernan explained that at least nine million immigrants have come to the U.S. since the end of 2020 and are still here — both legally and illegally. “That’s nearly as many as the number that came in the previous decade,” Kiernan wrote of the immigrants remaining in the U.S. Less than 30% of those entered and currently remain in the U.S. legally, Kiernan reported.
Noting the declining birth rate among U.S. citizens, Kiernan pointed out that the immigrants who have entered the U.S. over the past four years are “younger and more likely to be of working age than U.S.-born Americans.” He wrote, “Of foreigners who arrived since 2020, 78% are between the ages of 16 and 64, compared with 60% of those born in the U.S., according to the monthly census data.” The WSJ reporter continued, “Of recent immigrants age 16 or older, 68% — the participation rate — are either working or looking for a job, compared with 62% for U.S.-born Americans. In raw numbers, that likely amounts to more than five million people, equal to roughly 3% of the labor force.” Kiernan also anticipated that the rate of immigrants seeking and claiming jobs in the U.S. “is likely to climb further in coming years.”
While border states are, naturally, heavily impacted by immigration (especially illegal immigration), Kiernan observes that the top five “destination states” for illegal immigrants are Florida, Texas, California, New York, and New Jersey.
Prior reports have placed the numbers of immigrants in the U.S. workforce much higher than WSJ’s estimates. As The Washington Stand previously reported, a new study shows that a staggering 30 million immigrants — again, both legal and illegal — have entered the U.S. labor force just since 2022. While just over 22 million of those immigrants are in the U.S. legally, over eight million are working and living in the U.S. illegally.
Robert Law, the director of Regulatory Affairs and Policy for the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), told TWS at the time, “The Biden-Harris administration’s border security and economic policies have significantly harmed the wages, economic opportunities, and security of the American people.” He explained that jobs being taken by immigrants “are not jobs Americans won’t do.” Instead, he suggested that Americans “are being sidelined by administration policies that put American workers last.”
Immigration (again, especially of the illegal variety) has been linked to skyrocketing violent crime and a worsening drug crisis, in addition to the suffering job market. Election integrity has also become a point of concern, as Republicans move to ensure that only U.S. citizens are permitted to vote. Numerous Democrat-led cities and states are expected to spend millions and, in some cases, billions of dollars on housing illegal immigrants and providing them with health care and other related benefits.
Americans are increasingly unhappy with the state of immigration in the U.S. under incumbent President Joe Biden and his deputy, Vice President Kamala Harris. For example, 84% of Americans ranked illegal immigration a “serious” issue, including 61% who ranked it “very serious.” In fact, immigration has consistently been ranked as the second-most-pressing issue facing voters ahead of November’s election, immediately behind inflation and the economy. Continuing reports, like Kiernan’s in WSJ, suggest that the two issues are closely related.

Former President Donald Trump is launching a new initiative to bolster his support among American Catholics. On Wednesday, Trump’s campaign launched the “Catholics for Trump” coalition.
“The Catholics for Trump Coalition is committed to safeguarding the vital principles of religious liberty and the sanctity of life that President Donald J. Trump has ardently championed,” the coalition’s mission statement says. “Under President Trump’s leadership, our nation witnessed unprecedented support for religious freedoms, with significant victories both domestically and globally. President Trump restored protections for faith-based organizations and bolstered the rights of religious institutions against governmental overreach.”
“Unlike the Harris-Biden administration, which has systematically undermined these fundamental rights, President Trump has stood unwaveringly in defense of traditional values and the sanctity of human life,” the mission statement continues. “Catholics for Trump stands with President Trump to continue building a nation where the rights of every individual to practice their faith freely is protected. Together, we have the opportunity to secure a future that honors the principles of freedom, faith, and life that are integral to our American heritage.”
Trump has been encouraging Catholics to back his reelection, noting the anti-Catholic policies of his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D). Trump recently posted on social media, “Catholics are literally being persecuted by this Wack Job, just ask the Knights of Columbus. They say that she is the most Anti-Catholic person ever to run for high office in the U.S.” He called on “ALL CATHOLICS TO VOTE AGAINST KAMALA…”
While polling over the years has shown Trump — and the Republican Party more generally — gaining support from American Catholics, especially as the Democratic Party embraces increasingly extreme positions on abortion, a more recent EWTN News/RealClear Opinion Research survey found that Trump is trailing Harris among Catholic voters, though neither candidate has the support of a clear majority. Abortion has proven to be a dividing issue, with Trump’s declaration that the federal government has no role in abortion-related legislation finding little favor among Catholic voters. Like most Americans, Catholics rank inflation and the economy, as well as border security and illegal immigration, the most pressing issues ahead of November’s election.
The Catholic Church is strictly and directly opposed to abortion, unequivocally declaring the practice a grave moral evil. Trump’s positions on abortion, voiced over the course of this year, along with the positions of his running mate, Catholic convert and Senator J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), have caused some concern among pro-life Americans, including Catholics. For example, Trump recently suggested that he would support an amendment to Florida’s state constitution allowing abortion, which is currently prohibited past the sixth week of pregnancy in the Sunshine State. In response to backlash from pro-lifers, including Catholic pro-life activist Lila Rose, Trump reversed his position and announced that he would be voting against the amendment. The former president’s abortion-related comments have thus been a source of consternation for Catholic voters.
In comments to The Washington Stand, Catholic League President Bill Donohue explained, “Most practicing Catholics are pro-life (the non-practicing ones are more in tune with the secular pro-abortion side), but they also want to win, and that means we need to be pragmatic.” While Donohue did say that Trump “did the right thing initially” by focusing on politically winning issues like inflation, the economy, and illegal immigration, his more recent comments on abortion show that he has “faltered” and needs “to rebound” on the issue. “He will find a sympathetic audience with Catholics, and most Americans, if he talks about the real extremists — Democrats who favor late-term abortions and who vote against bills that protect the life of a child who survives a botched abortion. He needs to be more consistent on this issue,” Donohue continued.
He added, “Trump won the Catholic vote in 2016, 52% to 45%, but he barely won it in 2020. Given the anti-Catholic animus of the FBI, and other agencies under Biden-Harris, the Catholic vote should be his in 2024.”
The “Catholics for Trump” coalition boasts that, while in office, Trump “did more for Catholics than any administration in history!” Among the achievements listed are conscience protections to ensure that Catholics in the health care industry are not forced to commit or support abortions, pro-life executive orders, and Trump’s address to the annual March for Life — the first time a sitting U.S. president ever spoke to attendees of the event.

President Joe Biden won Virginia by ten points in 2020, but the Trump campaign isn’t writing the state off in 2024.
In 2021, in a state that had decisively chosen a Democratic candidate for president, Glenn Youngkin ran a campaign that had even the White House concerned about former Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s fate. While harping on education and culture issues, Youngkin ran an extensive get-out-the-vote (GOTV) effort throughout the state of Virginia that stunned the nation.
At the end of August, polling from Roanoke College showed that Vice President Kamala Harris doesn’t have the big lead Biden captured in 2020 in Virginia. Instead, she’s holding just a three point lead, slightly better than Biden was doing earlier in the year.
With talk of the state being in play, the Trump campaign has plans to tap into Youngkin’s star power and his 2021 get-out-the-vote efforts to turn the state red, state officials told the Daily Caller. Trump himself said during an August press conference that “he’s leading our whole campaign in Virginia,” referring to Youngkin.
“As the campaign goes further on and we get into the early vote rallies and to get-out-the-vote events, the governor is going to be pivoting not just to making the case for us, but also bringing all those [get-out-the-vote] volunteers together in a coordinated effort in the different parts of the state,” Jeff Ryer, Virginia Trump campaign spokesperson, told the Caller. Ryer added that Youngkin is scheduled in the coming weeks to appear at at least a dozen rallies for Trump’s get-out-the-vote effort — Trump Force 47.
Trump Force 47 has been largely touted as the former president’s ground game. While a portion of the party’s get-out-the-vote efforts are outsourced to grassroots organizations, Trump Force 47 has found footing in several states such as Virginia.
In 2021, the governor’s campaign focused on the promotion of early voting through rallies and messaging. Youngkin held rallies across the street from early polling locations to encourage attendees to vote. The Youngkin campaign also poured $7.1 million into his early vote promotion which funded a door-knocking effort to help Virginians find a voting site or request a mail-in ballot.
Rich Anderson, chairman of the Virginia Republican Party, told the Caller that the GOP is working with the Trump campaign to replicate the ground game that won Youngkin the state in 2021. To do so, the GOP has established 15 regional campaign offices all around the state and Youngkin has even attended a few of the grand openings, Anderson told the Caller.
“The joint goal of the Trump 2024 campaign team and [Republican Party of Virginia] is to certify 5,000 Trump Force 47 volunteers for GOTV operations. With less than 70 days to election day, we’ve now certified 75% of our goal and therefore forecast that we will exceed our goal by the time early voting starts on Sep. 20th,” Anderson told the Caller.
“These 5,000+ GOTV volunteers will be augmented by 500 election attorneys at polling locations across Virginia,” Anderson said, adding that they party does not have an estimate for how many doors it will knock on.
The party chair added that in addition to its GOTV efforts, the GOP has a strong election integrity presence throughout the state. Alongside the campaign, the Virginia GOP is deploying 5,000 poll watchers 45 days before election day in addition to 500 election attorneys.
“I think that Trump Force 47 fits in very neatly to what the Youngkin campaign accomplished in the state in 2021,” Ryer told the Caller.
A Youngkin adviser told the Daily Caller that the governor plans to be very present on the campaign trail and will participate in early vote rallies in the coming weeks. The adviser added that the governor is focused on making the election fair, secure and something that Virginians can be confident in. In August, Youngkin issued Executive Orders 31 and 35 which addressed various election security precautions such as strengthening Virginia’s voter rolls and counting machine testing.
“The governor previously said this, you really got to turn out the rural parts of the southwest and south side, and you’ve got to do better than Republicans usually do in Northern Virginia. And then a lot of it comes down to Richmond and Hampton Roads,” a Youngkin adviser told the Caller. Anderson told the Caller that the party has set its targets on Culpeper, Farmville, Fairfax, Stafford, Gloucester, Manassas, Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, Yorktown, Richmond and Chesterfield.
Virginia voters have a 45-day window to vote early in person or by mail. In 2021, Youngkin brought in early vote numbers that exceeded expectations, which many attributed his success to. In that off election year, 1.2 million ballots were cast during the early voting period. Youngkin won 46% of early in-person votes and 24% of absentee ballots cast.
“The governor has been incredibly focused on keeping the party united. He didn’t endorse any primaries this year, and I think a big piece of it too, would be the election executive order that he issued. Which is part of making sure Republicans understand that in Virginia we have fair and secure elections and voters can be confident that their ballot is going to be counted,” the Youngkin adviser told the Caller.
Targeting specific voter demographics was a key part of the Youngkin ground game, former top Youngkin strategists Jeff Roe and Kristin Davison told Politico. The campaign went after the vote of “African-American Virginians, Asians, Hispanics [and] women,” Davison told the outlet.
Anderson explained that its operation was targeting different demographics ahead of the election, but stressed the importance of the veteran vote in the 2024 campaign.
“We have significant immersion in the Veterans Committee. I spent 30 years in the Air Force as a veteran so that’s especially important to me,” the state party chairman explained.
“In 2021, we stood up in Virginia an organization called AVV, which is the American Veterans Vote. And they have pivoted and are playing a prominent role in turning out the veterans vote here in Virginia. It’s great because a majority of veterans are conservative in their thinking and in their politics, not all of them, but a majority of them. And so we were able to leverage that in 2021 for Glenn Youngkin, such that it made a significant impact on his eventual election. He won by two points,” he added.
But the 2024 operation doesn’t just come down to its get-out-the-vote efforts — the party is focused on tactical messaging similar to what was deployed in 2021.
As Davison explained to Politico in 2021, Youngkin chose to focus his campaign messaging around “cost of living, education and safety.” By contrast, Davison added, Democrats on a national level were talking about defunding the police, higher taxes and eliminating parents’ oversight in the classroom. McAuliffe put himself in the middle of the education talk, and in direct contrast to Youngkin.
“I’m not going to let parents come into schools and actually take books out and make their own decisions,” McAuliffe said in 2021. “I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.”
Youngkin capitalized on the message, and his focus on education and cultural issues such as abortion helped him defeat McAuliffe.
Trump and Vance stand in direct contrast to Harris and Walz on issues like education and parental rights within the classroom. Anderson told the Caller he expects Youngkin’s 2021 messaging to be embraced in 2024.
“In 2021, Gov. Youngkin spoke to the issue of up-to-the-moment-of-birth abortion in a way that aligned with the views of Virginia voters. He also gave voice to the role that parents feel they must play in the education of their children,” he said.
“Senior Republican officials and the Republican Party of Virginia will continue to remind voters of the extremist views held by Ms. Harris and Mr. Walz on life and education. Republicans will continue to represent the views broadly held by Virginia voters,” Anderson added.

House Republicans held a forum on the attempted assassination of former President Donald J. Trump on August 26th. They were not chosen to be on the House task force, but wanted to get to the truth of why there were so many failures. Representatives, Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Eli Crane (R-AZ), Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Cory Mills (R-FL), and Chip Roy (R-TX) hosted a forum on the attempted assassination of former President Trump.
Dan Bongino, a former United States Secret Service special agent; Erik Prince, former United States Navy SEAL officer; and Ben Shaffer, a Washington regional SWAT operator, were the witnesses who discussed the timeline of events in Butler, Pennsylvania; communications and rules of engagement between law enforcement; and whether negligence by Secret Service displayed incompetence or potentially nefarious intent.

Whistleblowers have told Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) that Department of Homeland Security agents with minimal protective training and experience were assigned to protect former President Donald Trump during an assassination attempt. Hawley added that an SS whistleblower revealed that HQ discouraged agents from asking for additional staff for Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The MSM Silence is Deafening
If you search the web for updates on the Trump assassination attempt, the majority of articles are from July. One article from September 4th states that the House Trump Assassination Task Force was interviewing local law enforcement. Seven Republicans and six democrats were chosen by House Speaker Mike Johnson.
U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, (R-PA), the task force chairman, and ranking member Rep. Jason Crow, (D-CO), sent several letters on September 3rd requesting records on planning, operations and communications and seeking interviews by September 30th from Butler County and Beaver County agencies that were supporting the U.S. Secret Service and Pennsylvania State Police at the rally. Kelly votes with the constitution 46% of the time, and Democrat Crow never votes with the constitution.
Former police officer, Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) blasted the FBI for releasing attempted Trump assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks’ body to his family for cremation days after the shooting — calling it “disturbing” that the agency would impede further investigation.
“On July 23rd, Crooks was gone. Nobody knew this until Monday, August 5th, including the County Coroner, law enforcement, Sheriff, etc.” Higgins described the FBI’s actions “as an obstruction to any following investigative effort.” The Congressman claimed that while the body was under the Butler County Coroner’s authority, the coroner would “have never released Crooks’ body to the family for cremation or burial without specific permission from the FBI.”
Along with revealing the “disturbing fact” of Crooks’ body, Higgins blasted the FBI for its handling of the crime scene, stating the law enforcement agency released the area after three days.
The New York Post reported that the parents of Thomas Crooks have retained high-powered attorneys as the feds probe what they knew and when. The Crooks family is being represented by Quinn Logue — a top Pittsburgh law firm, according to Daily Mail. Veteran lawyers, John Quinn and Matthew Logue, specialize in personal injury, legal malpractice and employment litigation cases, according to their website. The firm also does criminal defense — though the partners in the firm seem to focus more on civil litigation, based on their biographies.
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), who is on a bipartisan Senate investigation into the attempt on Trump’s life, vented his frustration at the progress of the investigation so far.
“All I can really tell you is the Secret Service and FBI are basically dragging their feet. They’re stonewalling us,” Johnson said on Fox News.
The FBI is a political weapon of a larger institution that is now focused almost entirely toward supporting a radical communist agenda to destroy civil society in the United States.
House Republicans Conduct Independent Inquiry
Meanwhile, a handful of House Republicans with military and security backgrounds who were not tapped for the bipartisan group are conducting an independent inquiry featuring frequent broadsides of the Secret Service and FBI.
However, the one thing not discussed was the figure on the water tower who was thought to zipline down the tower and drive away. Veterans at the rally saw the figure and even stated that it was a perfect place for a second shooter. However, once Crooks was dead, there was no reason for a second shooter to out himself.
Prior to the actual C-Span forum, the Dan Bongino Show invited Andy Biggs, Eli Crane, Cory Mills and Chip Roy to a roundtable discussion. Bongino opened with, “The acting SS Director now, who was the deputy director previously, was one of the guys in the decision chain that said, ‘We’re not going to employ counter sniper assets to a Trump rally if it’s not within driving distance of DC. And you’ve got to be thinking to yourself, what the hell are we paying for?”
Congressman Biggs stated, “Look, we’re talking about a $3.3 billion dollar budget. If you are going to restrict the protection service that are designed to protect, then somebody needs to be fired.” Biggs goes on to say that the House is in charge of funds and they need to either stop the funding or reorganize the entire Secret Service.
Congressman Roy exposed the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) practices by former SS Director Cheatle which actually destroys the ability of the agency to function in the manner in which they were established. “DEI has been implemented throughout the federal government and it’s killing us.”
Rep. Cory Mills said, “Given the fact of the untimeliness at which point this is being conducted, you will see at this stage, where I think that criminal gross negligence and purposeful intent will be indistinguishable. When we look at all of this, the failure to communicate properly, it draws me away from just negligence and pulls me into that purposeful intent arena that I don’t necessarily need to get into.”
He continued and said, “Eli Crane and I went out there. We’re not yes men. We’re not people who will say yes to go along to get along and that’s why we’re not picked for these committees. Every single one of us here will tell you, we can’t trust the FBI when they admit to 287,000 violations of FISA where they were spying on American people, all of which we did not vote to authorize or reauthorize. What’s even worse though is when I sat there in the briefings. We had the Intelligence Community (IC) sitting there and we were talking about this FISA reauthorization which I was against to begin with, just like the Patriot Act, which I think is a complete spy on the American people, but they were like, ‘we have a 98% reform.’”
“I looked at them and said, ‘Let me get this straight, you’re telling me that I have to go to the American people and tell them I’m only spying on 4,000 people illegally now this year?’ My whole point is that we can’t trust government to investigate government, which is why we set up this individual task force and is why we’re bringing independent people who have expertise such as yourself (Bongino), and Eric and others so that we can get to the facts and make it transparent. And also, not hide behind some low-level classification where we’re not being transparent to the American people. That’s one of the things that’s my biggest stickler. They’ll use the lowest level classifications and try and put it in a back room. The American taxpayers pay for our salaries, pay for that office, and pay for that information. We need to be transparent and gain accountability and that’s what this is for.”
Bongino comments that there wasn’t a counter-surveillance team from the SS, so nothing was done when Crooks showed up with a range finder. He said that if they were at that site, there was zero chance that they wouldn’t have seen Crooks.
Congressman Mills stated that local law enforcement had actually offered a drone but it was refused by the SS. “After all these weeks, we are now at a point where criminal gross negligence and purposeful intent are indistinguishable.”
The bottom line here is that the American people no longer trust these institutions.
Crooks, who left several explosive devices in his car, had searched for information about bomb components as early as 2019. The day after the forum, Bongino exposed the level of sophisticated bombs and remote detonators that Crooks built and that work. They could not have put together only by the young shooter.
Congressman Michael Waltz, a Green Beret who dealt with explosives, told Bongino that the level of sophistication with the explosive device is way beyond the capacity of this kid. He must have had some help. Bongino said, “Somebody was incentivizing this guy to do this. Was it a foreign actor through a proxy? I don’t know, but the oddities in this case are adding up.” He said the SS didn’t even pick up the local radios that were left with them. Had they picked up the radios, they would have heard, for over an hour, that Crooks was being tracked by the local police.
Bongino commented, “Layered incompetence is intent.”
Rep. Eli Crane, U.S. Navy SEAL, said, “Can you imagine if this had been a ten-man Hezbollah team and not this 20-year-old kid who got within 130 yards of President Trump with an AR-15? He had multiple explosive devices with a remote detonator on them and flew a drone. What if this was a real threat and what message does this send to the rest of the world? What message does it send to the ayatollahs in Iran, what message does it send to North Korea, to Vladimir Putin, to others who would love to make sure President Trump doesn’t get back into office? To me it sends a message, ‘open season’ because this SS is not up to the job.”
Cory Mills adds that the cartels at the border are incentivized to protect their revenue which means not allowing Trump back into office.
At the C-Span forum, Cory Mills spoke about the SS “layers of incompetence.”
“We have to ask, why was the venue selected not having adequate security? Why were the higher vantage points not covered? Why was there not a, either comparable or compatible, communications system established? Where was the security plan, the coms plan, the data range cards? Where was the actual overwatch? Where were the ground teams as far as their rates of instruction? What were the tactical techniques procedures that were to be utilized without identifying and mitigating all existing threats? Why was there not an early morning briefing with all to ensure communications and last-minute security plans? Why was a surveillance drone not utilized even though it was offered? And who, ultimately, is responsible or accountable for one of the truly most life changing incidents for a lot of us, where we almost lost the former president of the United States?”
Rep. Mills goes on to list previous failures:
“August 14, 2024, was a reported failure that a SS agent abandoned her post without permission to breastfeed child before Donald Trump was scheduled to arrive in North Carolina.
“August 12, 2024, was reported that a SS special agent who was the official site agent for July 13, Butler, PA rally was under investigation for posing videos and photos from protective assignments to social media.
“July 27, 2024, a SS agent covered the security camera of a local salon in Pittsburgh, Massachusetts before an event featuring Kamala Harris where the salon was closed, but opened it up without approval and utilized restrooms for an hour and a half while the building’s security alarm was going off.
“July 2, 2023, it was reported that former SS Director Cheatle, the senior agency leader, sought to destroy the cocaine found in the White House in July 2024. The evidence was not destroyed due to pushback from individuals in the SS forensics service division.
“May 20, 2024, a man enters the U.S. SS Miami field office through a propped open door and was not removed from the building until the following morning.
“April 24, 2024, a special agent assigned to Harris’ detail had a mental breakdown where the agent reportedly had physically attacked a commanding agent in charge at the base, after verbal disputes with other agents.
“Sometime between 2023 and 2024, at least two people breached President Obama’s Hawaii residence. Though the president wasn’t there, his two daughters were on the premises at the time.
“April 2023, a drunken intruder entered the home of National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in the middle of the night. The man was able to gain access to Sullivan’s home despite 24/7 SS protective services due to the sensitive nature of Sullivan’s position.
“This is not a new problem as Mr. Bongino has stated, and with a $3 billion dollar budget, I would think that we would start evaluating those mistakes to make those corrective actions. Would you agree that there should be a much better security for protectives than we’re seeing today?”
Bongino agreed and stated, “The SS has a culture problem Congressman.” He goes on to tell how many agents could not meet even basic protective functioning skills and criminal investigative skills, but met other criteria, completely irrelevant to job performance, who were pushed through and told they were to graduate. Bongino was a SS Agent from 1999 to 2011.
Conclusion
Listening to both these forums is of the utmost importance for Americans to be knowledgeable as to how President Obama and his minions, Valerie Jarrett, John Brennan, James Clapper and Eric Holder succeeded in “fundamentally transforming” America. Not only was the intelligence community weaponized against Americans, but the entire federal government and much of the judiciary has been changed. A tyrannical, authoritarian and despotic power is now in charge.

As presidential hopefuls Donald Trump and Kamala Harris approach their first debate on Tuesday, their campaigns have unveiled economic policies that seem in some ways diametrically opposed — and only one could stimulate “robust economic growth,” a leading economist has warned.
Harris has proposed imposing price controls on food, undoing the Trump tax cuts of 2017 by raising the top tax rate to 39.6%, hiking corporate taxes and capital gains taxes to 28%, giving first-time homebuyers $25,000, and doubling down on Obamacare by raising taxpayer-funded subsidies for those who buy their plans from the exchange.
She also proposed one tax cut to benefit small businesses. “I want to see 25 million new small business applications by the end of my first term,” said Harris last week. “So, part of my plan is we will expand the tax deduction for startups to $50,000.”
In a speech at the Economic Club of New York last Thursday, former President Trump proposed unleashing the power of the free market by maintaining the 2017 tax cuts and further slashing the corporate tax from 21% to 15%, cutting red tape, protecting U.S. manufacturing by raising tariffs on imported goods, clawing back all unspent funds from the Biden-Harris administration’s Inflation Reduction Act, and making more jobs available to U.S. citizens by deporting illegal immigrants who lower wages and compete for jobs.
Both candidates agree on ending federal taxation on tips, a policy first proposed this presidential race by Trump and parroted by Harris.
“Kamala Harris is running a giveaway campaign,” Paul Mueller, a senior research fellow at the American Institute for Economic Research (AIER) told “Washington Watch” guest host Joseph Backholm last Thursday. “Of course, the Biden administration has been trying to cancel various forms of student debt for years now. And her approach, I think, to stimulating the economy is more of what we’ve seen over the past four years, which is extensive government involvement, huge amounts of spending. It’s not really an organic growth within the economy.”
Artificial stimulus raises prices, a major problem over the course of the Biden-Harris administration. “When you subsidize people’s ability to buy things — whether that’s higher education or health care — and we give people money in the form of loans or grants or scholarships to do that, what it does is boosts demand. And so what we see over time in both of those areas is rising costs. The cost of higher education has grown much faster than everything else in the economy. The rate of increase for health care has increased very rapidly,” Mueller stated. “And so this $25,000 credit for first-time home buyers, while it sounds nice, it’s actually going to continue to put upward pressure on the price of housing overall.”
The entire amount of the subsidy is “actually going to be eaten up by rising prices,” Mueller noted.
Even a putatively pro-business tax policy like a small business tax credit could backfire. “There are a lot of small business owners who maybe will close down their existing business and start a new one just to get the tax credit,” Mueller warned.
On the other hand, “President Trump’s agenda” has the potential to spur “robust economic growth” in an organic way, said Mueller. “He has talked about wanting to roll back regulations.”
Mueller noted he opposed Trump’s tariff policy, “and, then, he hasn’t really addressed runaway government spending. And the more money that is spent by the federal government, the less money there is for people in the private sector to spend on their businesses, their houses, their projects.”
Backholm suggested the greatest vacuum in economic dialogue involves America’s $35 trillion national debt. “So far, we are not seeing a lot of politicians raise their hand and say, ‘I’m the guy that’s going to give you less so we can save the future.’ I think that might be what we need. We’re not getting that from anybody at this point.”

The extensive data collection proposed—especially with international linkages involving organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE)—raises significant privacy concerns. This could lead to widespread monitoring of citizens’ health data, potentially without their explicit consent.
The legislation also mandates collaboration between the federal government, provincial governments, and Indigenous communities to collect and share health data. This requirement may create data privacy, security, and misuse concerns.
Another troubling aspect is the bill’s broad discretion granted to the Minister of Health and other relevant officials. They are empowered to set pandemic preparedness standards and make far-reaching decisions about public health responses, surveillance, and commercial regulations. In terms of economic impact, the bill targets commercial activities that “disproportionately contribute to pandemic risk,” such as industrial animal agriculture. However, the lack of clarity around what constitutes “disproportionate” could lead to arbitrary decisions, harming industries without solid scientific evidence. This vagueness could spark significant economic disruptions and legal disputes over the scope of such regulations.
The bill’s emphasis on the One Health approach—integrating human, animal, plant, and ecosystem health—may also be problematic. While holistic health is important, this broad approach could lead to sweeping environmental regulations under the guise of pandemic prevention, potentially affecting sectors like farming, forestry, and urban development without clear justifications related to pandemics.
Lastly, the bill allocates substantial resources to global health equity initiatives, raising concerns that domestic resources could be diverted to international efforts.
In summary, while Bill C-293 seeks to enhance pandemic preparedness, its broad language, expanded surveillance powers, and potential for economic disruption pose significant risks. There is another authoritarian bill we haven’t had time to deal with where the Trudopians plan to make ALL off label use of prescription meds, which I am told is the majority of prescriptions, illegal. Searching for it, I am coming up empty at the moment. So Maybe that isn’t a thing. If I find it, I’ll post it.

Noam Chomsky, the guy the left likes to claim is the smartest guy in the world or something, the guy who wrote a book that became a documentary allegedly on freedom of speech called, “Manufacturing Consent” but in reality was only critical of speech that seemed right oriented. At the time he wrote that book he was an active Prof at a US university and no where does he mention University speech codes, which, at the time, was the biggest most obvious restrictions on what could and could not be said in the US of A, and he never mentioned them once, even though present at his own university, from my recollection of the film version of his book.
So here he is talking about how skepticism about Global Warming and the mRNA vaxx which “has to be dealt with and overcome, and very decisively and without delay…”

New York Democratic Rep. Grace Meng has longstanding ties to an organization reportedly linked to a Chinese intelligence agency and alleged Communist Party operatives, the Daily Caller News Foundation found.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Tuesday indicted Linda Sun, who served in two New York governors’ offices as well as Meng’s chief of staff while she served in the state assembly, for allegedly acting as an unregistered foreign agent of China and money laundering.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday that Sun met the “heads of key groups identifiable in the indictment as being United Front-linked, including the U.S. Federation of Chinese-American Entrepreneurs and the Henan Association of Eastern America.”
China’s so-called “United Front” strategy of influence and intelligence collection is overseen by a Chinese intelligence service called the United Front Work Department.
The heads of these groups were “supervised, directed, and controlled by [Chinese] government officials,” DOJ alleges.
Meng has been associated with Henan Association Of Eastern America (HAEA), a New York-based organization, for over a decade. She previously served as “deputy chairwoman,” according to an archived version of HAEA’s website, and the group now prominently identifies the congresswoman as an “honorary chairwoman.”
Meng was not named in the DOJ indictment, and her office did not return multiple requests for comment.
The DOJ’s indictment, however, does note that one of Sun’s alleged unnamed co-conspirators, known as CC-1, “served as the president of an association of persons from Henan Province, PRC located in the New York metropolitan area.”
The indictment describes CC-1’s organization, “Association-1,” as “a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization closely associated with the United Front Work Department (‘UFWD’) and the Chinese Communist Party (‘CCP’).”
HAEA did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
“Over the last forty years, a network of pro-CCP Chinese-American organizations operating in coordination with the Chinese Consulate has been established, which now has enormous influence on New York’s business and political climate, basically providing an outpost and pro-CCP personnel for directly executing China’s foreign policy from within the United States,” Dr. Lawrence Sellin, a national security and United Front expert, told the DCNF.
Henan Association Of Eastern America
Founded in 1973, HAEA aims to support Chinese participation in politics as well as cultural exchange and trade between the U.S. and China, according to its website.
For more than a decade, Meng has held various roles with HAEA, according to records on the group’s website. Meng and her mother, who is a native of China’s Henan province, were first listed as HAEA members in 2008, the nonprofit’s records state.
Between 2008 and 2012, Meng served as HAEA’s “deputy chairwoman,” according to its website. HAEA later began identifying Meng as “honorary chairwoman” in February 2012, the month before Meng launched her congressional campaign in March 2012, HAEA’s records show.
Meng’s photo and title are currently pictured at the top of HAEA’s website alongside its president.
Sun has not been listed on HAEA’s member roster, but photos on HAEA’s website show Meng with Sun together at events as far back as 2009, the DCNF found.
For instance, Meng and Sun were photographed together at a December 2009 karaoke fundraiser for Meng, who then served in the New York State Assembly.
Photos also show Meng and Sun together at HAEA’s annual Chinese New Year meeting in February 2010.
Sun is accused of having “actively concealed that she took actions at the order, request, or direction of [the Chinese] government and CCP representatives,” the DOJ’s indictment states. “Thus, neither the NYS government nor the greater New York and American public had the opportunity to evaluate her conduct, considering her long-standing relationships with the [Chinese] government and the CCP and her status as their agent.”
In 2019, Sun was allegedly hired as a committee member for the All-China Federation Of Returned Overseas Chinese (ACFROC), according to the DOJ’s indictment.
ACFROC is an “agency” of the CCP’s United Front Work Department, which attempts to “manage relationships with and generate support for the CCP among elite individuals inside and outside the PRC, including by gathering human intelligence,” the DOJ’s indictment states.
Dr. June Teufel Dreyer, former commissioner of the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, told the DCNF that ACFROC is “unquestionably an organization through which the CCP, through the United Front Work Department, seeks to shape the opinions of the Chinese diaspora to its views.”
‘Co-Conspirator’
Sun previously served as “Asian Outreach Director” for former New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and, most recently, served as New York Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul’s deputy chief of staff, government records show.
While working for the two New York governors, the DOJ’s indictment alleges that Sun also worked in secret for a man identified only as a “co-conspirator” who had direct contact with multiple officials in the Chinese government.
Sun’s work with the co-conspirator allegedly “included fraudulently obtaining letters that purported to be from the [New York governor’s office] inviting delegations of PRC officials to visit New York, which the government officials used to unlawfully obtain visas to enter the United States,” according to the DOJ’s indictment.
The invited officials were from China’s Henan province, according to the indictment.
In return, Chinese officials and co-conspirators allegedly funneled contracts to businesses in Henan run by Sun’s husband, Chris Hu, who was also arrested by the FBI and charged by the DOJ.
The DOJ did not respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.

Governor DeSantis, and Mom’s for Liberty, were derided for their school board candidates not doing as well as was hoped for in the August primary. The poor results were not a reflection of their political influence, but a reflection of election law that disenfranchises the multitude of voters who only vote in the general election.
In my home County of Indian River, the two school board races had candidates that were endorsed by the Governor, Mom’s for Liberty, and our Republican Executive Committee, and these candidates both lost. Had the election taken place in the general election, they would have handily won.
Amendment 1, making school board elections partisan, would not have changed the outcome of these elections. Owing to the elections likely having had only Republican candidates in the election, the elections would have become “Universal Primary Contests” with the same people winning the elections at the time of the primary!
Universal primary contests are wholly unfair to conservative Republicans while also disenfranchising a huge block of voters who only vote in general elections. I am voting against Amendment 1 owing to it does not change the unfairness of this crazy primary system! Contact your legislators, and the governor, to get election law changed so that no elections are decided at the time of the primary election!

Florida Voter Registrations
Note: the registrations numbers in this writing refer to active registrations, a subset of total registrations.
Florida Republicans continue the trend of making relative gains in active voter registrations as Republican registrations relative to Democrat registrations increased by 28,391 registrations in August and by 718,208 registrations since the book closing for the 2022 general election. It seems Vice President Harris replacing President Biden as the Democrat’s presidential nominee had little or no impact on changing the negative relative Democrat registration trends.
Florida Republicans now have a 1,024,158 relative registrations advantage over the Democrats. Republican registrations were 39.37% of total registrations and Republicans now enjoy a 7.50% of total registrations advantage over the Democrats (see tables).
The Democrats gained 33,345 registrations in August, lost 615,840 registrations since the 2022 book closing, and 947,765 registrations since the 2020 election. Republican registrations increased by 61,736 in August, and the number of registrations which are neither Republican nor Democrat increased by 26,378 registrations in August (see chart).
The chart shows graphically the change in active registrations since the 2022 book closing.
Table 1 lists Florida Counties by Republican registration margins relative to Democrat registrations.
Table 2 shows how Florida Counties are performing relative to each other in Republican registration margin improvement (some of the biggest relative gainers are the Counties of Hillsborough, St. Lucie, Seminole, Pinellas, Polk, Volusia, and Sarasota). The Counties of Lee and Collier should be recognized for their continuous leadership in Republican registration margin relative to Democrat registrations.
Table 3 lists vote margin changes of Florida Counties between the last two presidential and gubernatorial elections
Table 4 lists Florida Counties in order by gains in Republican registrations and shows the associated registration changes for non-Republicans.

“Don’t give Up…Never give UP…Fight and we will win!” This battle cry of the Marxist Democrats is far more than theatrical, far more than mere sensationalism, far more than political rhetoric. This battle cry of the Marxist Democrats is a core belief that is indoctrinated into field representatives of the Marxist Democrats who carry petitions door-to-door, who appear at rallies religiously no matter where or the cost or the weather. Fight to win at all costs beginning at the local levels to change a society and work your way UP to the Executive Branch of American government. Now tell me the Marxist Democrats have not demonstrated this in multiple fashions. Heck…Comrade Kamala uses the battle cry in one of her campaign ads.
Money and political marketing for the Marxists who have succeeded infiltrating school boards, city councils, state legislatures is proving successful. Maybe flying under the political radar but proving successful. Here in Arizona over $186 million dollars was scheduled for candidates seeking seats in both houses of the State Legislature. What is coming is a tidal wave of TV, radio, various print publications, internet campaign messages and mailings highlighting the care and concern Marxist Democrats have for the common person who is struggling to pay bills, put food on the table and gas in their car. Emotional messaging countering how MAGA candidates and ALL things Trump are for the select few, the fortunate, the well off, not every-day folk.
Simultaneously targeted are rural and small communities, not just here in Arizona but across the country. Even if the campaign successes do not allow for control of a state legislature or executive branch offices, placing Marxists into a wide variety of local offices, elected or otherwise, will have a tremendous effect toward the battle to change forever America. “Don’t give UP…Fight and we will win” and abolish the foundational principles of America moving the United States into the New-World Order of Marxism, anti-God, anti-Capitalism.
I learned from multiple sources that a most sophisticated, well-funded, under the radar movement to accomplish that which I just wrote is well underway and has been for many months. Last week we had the big loud debate over what race Kamala Harris is. As I’ve said before, I don’t think she’s anything.
Her identity is as negotiable as anything else. And like Obama, it doesn’t fit the American identity politics calculus anyway.
Like a lot of Jamaican and Indian immigrants, she’s a member of a high-achieving minority group (who is admittedly a lot dumber than the average Indian and Jamaican immigrant) with some family ties, but little sense of belonging to anything beyond a social class.
Kamala’s cooking session with Mindy Kaling gets at how Indian she is which is as much as your average liberal Jew is Jewish.
They picked up some things growing up, mostly foods, a few words, and fond memories, but no real sense of identity, belief, or commitment.
Over in Bangladesh, a color revolution by Marxists and Islamists, cheered on by the media, has set out to demolish the country as an independent secular state.
Call it a smaller Arab Spring with no Arabs (except the ones remotely funding all this) and it has more than slight echoes of the massacres by Islamists (including some who fled to America and became political players) during the battle over Bangladeshi independence.
Like all Islamic movements, a primary goal is to massacre non-Muslims, in this case Hindus.
The media has mostly ignored or downplayed the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, much as it previously did the Muslim massacres of Chinese in Indonesia or of Christians in Nigeria.
The New York Times even justified them as “revenge” because the Muslim majority attacking a non-Muslim minority are still oppressed.

Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, who is Indian, offered a belated statement urging an end to the violence.
Rep. Hakeem Jeffries claimed, “I am deeply concerned and saddened by the violence, casualties and human rights abuses in Bangladesh over the past weeks and offer my condolences to the families of the victims, including within the Bangladeshi-American community that calls Brooklyn home. Recent developments and new leadership must bring with them respect for democratic principles and the rule of law and a commitment to investigating the attacks, calling for accountability for those responsible and demanding justice for the victims. Under the leadership of the Biden-Harris administration, the United States will continue to closely monitor the situation unfolding and we encourage all parties to refrain from further violence.”
And yet there’s been nothing from the ‘Harris’ part of the Biden-Harris administration.
Kamala, when it was convenient, pretended to be the “first Indian-American senator”.
Now when Hindus are facing violence, she couldn’t even be bothered to make a statement.

“Israel will be gone. One year, two years. Israel will no longer exist,” the GOP nominee for the White House warned.
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump warned at a campaign rally in Wisconsin on Saturday that Israel would be “doomed” if his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, is voted into the White House on Nov. 5.
“If I don’t win this election, Israel, with comrade Kamala Harris at the helm of the United States, is doomed. Israel is doomed. That’s a tough statement. Israel will be gone. One year, two years. Israel will no longer exist,” the former president told supporters in the city of Mosinee.
Trump pledged to bring stability to the Middle East and to stop another world war from breaking out.
“We’ll end the chaos in the Middle East and I will prevent World War III, and I’m the only one who can do it. I will prevent World War III,” he said.
“I better win, or you are going to have problems like you’ve never had. We may have no country left. This may be our last election,” Trump added.
The GOP leader made similar remarks in a live video address to the Republican Jewish Coalition‘s Annual Leadership Summit in Las Vegas last week.
At a campaign rally in Pennsylvania in August, Trump said that Jews in the United States are facing their greatest threat since World War II.
“What’s happening with Israel and Jewish people, there has never been a more dangerous time since the Holocaust if you happen to be Jewish in America.”
The Trump campaign is appealing to Jewish Americans and Israel supporters disillusioned with the direction of the Democratic Party as well as courting Jewish Republicans, launching Jewish Voices for Trump last month.

As you know, I’m a Jewish woman who has worked for many years, very closely with like-minded, evangelical Christians. My Christian friends have supported me throughout the years, worked to get Trump elected, and always stood firmly against the rise of Jihad in America.
In fact, in 2018, I went on a trip to Israel with my friends over at The United West @TheUnitedWest, where we were at the ceremony of the historic American Embassy transfer from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem! This was only made possible by President Trump!
The United West gave me some verifiable information about evangelical Christians who are already registered Republicans but did NOT vote in 2020 in six key swing states. I thought that out of all voters who didn’t vote in 2020, the Christian vote would be the quintessential definition of low hanging fruit since Christians are under attack in our country.
We all know the 2020 race was decided (or shall we say stolen) in those six states, but I never realized how critically important the Christian vote was for the 2024 election in those exact same battle ground states.
The research I have posted below suggests and explains that Donald Trump will either win or lose in November based upon whether evangelicals who did NOT vote in 2020, actually come out to vote in November.

Vice President Kamala Harris claims to be a champion for women, but many facts tell a different story.
Harris speaks pro-women rhetoric, but fails to protect women and girls from assaults in locker rooms.
Harris endorsed a new Biden-Harris administration rule expanding Title IX protections to gender identity and sexual orientation, requiring schools receiving federal funds to allow males into female spaces such as restrooms and locker rooms, or into any activity currently separated as male or female.
Initial Title IX rules—signed into law by a Republican president more than 50 years ago—protect women and girls against sex-based discrimination, allowing girls to flourish in school and on extracurricular sports teams.
Regrettably, this final rule redefining “female” also threatens free speech on campus, protects teachers unions, and obstructs due process protections for students accused of sexual harassment on campus.
Harris also fails to protect women and girls from sexual assault as they seek to cross illegally into America at the U.S. southern border. Sexual assault rates of migrant women coming to the United States is shocking, yet Harris embraces policies that incentivize further illegal immigration and human trafficking.
Reports vary widely on the scope of the sexual violence, which speaks to the lack of concern that Harris embodies. Amnesty International reported:
Rape is widespread. It is believed that as many as six out of every 10 migrant women and girls experience sexual violence during the journey.
A 2017 report by Doctors Without Borders found 1 in 3 women traveling through Mexico are sexually assaulted. A United Nations estimate found among women crossing without husbands or families, up to 70% suffered some type of abuse.
The rampant sexual abuse is perpetuated and grows the more policies like those from Harris and President Joe Biden encourage millions to enter the United States illegally. For example, under former President Donald Trump, the “Remain in Mexico” program and other immigration policies substantially slowed illegal immigration flow. Harris and Biden reversed Remain in Mexico, and the United States has experienced record, earth-shattering illegal immigration flows. Supposedly empowered to mitigate the so-called root causes of illegal immigration from Central American and South American countries, Harris instead stood idly by.
Even CNN is conceding that Harris is now a hypocrite for using Trump’s border wall in her new political ad to claim she supports controlling illegal immigration. CNN found more than 50 instances since 2017 of Harris slamming Trump’s border wall, with labels like “useless” and “racist.” But now Harris is running ads touting Trump’s wall.
J.D. Vance and Kamala Harris landed on the same tarmac, prompting the Vice President to swiftly exit with her motorcade before Vance could approach.

Two suspected Tren de Aragua gang members busted in connection with an attempted murder in the migrant hotbed of Aurora, Colorado, have been released from custody, The Post has learned.
Venezuelan brothers Dixon Azuaje-Perez, 20, and Nixon Azuaje-Perez, 19, who are charged with trying to tamper with evidence in the July 28 shooting, were sprung after posting $1,000 bond — and despite Immigration and Customs Enforcement issuing a detainer for their arrests, sources said.
The pair are being monitored with GPS technology and are located near an apartment complex in Denver, sources said.
Aurora Police Department confirmed to The Post that the two “are no longer in custody.”
Homeland Security sources told The Post that the brothers entered the US on Aug. 22, 2023 at a port of entry in Eagle Pass, Texas, using the CBP One app, even though they lacked proper documents to be allowed in.

The US Surgeon General, Dr Vivek Murthy, just issued an official advisory warning against the stressful nature of parenting and labelling it “an urgent public health issue.” The document says Surgeon General Advisories “require the nation’s immediate awareness and action.” So, according to the Surgeon General, what exactly is the urgent issue and what immediate actions should be taken to rescue parents from the stress of raising their own children?
In short, the advisory cites data showing that parents experience more stress than non-parents and that sometimes, some parents’ stress levels are so high they cannot function. It says parental stress can negatively affect children. It says major sources of parental stress include “financial strain and economic instability, time demands, concerns over children’s health and safety, parental isolation and loneliness, difficulty managing technology and social media, and cultural pressures.”
All true.
I’m a mom of five children, and I birthed four of them within a time span of roughly five years. 12 years later, I had a baby in my 40s. We had diapers and dating going on at the same time. I’m no stranger to stress. I have known financial strain, the instability of layoffs, bone-deep fatigue, and so much more.
As for not being able to function, that depends on your definition of the word “function”. (Does inventing games where I lay motionless on the bed while my kids pile heaps of clean laundry on top of me count as “functioning”?) Parenting has beat the stuffing right out of me at times. But through all these years, I never saw my children as a threat to my mental health.
Children are a danger to their parents
This Surgeon General’s Advisory is the first time I recall seeing an official government entity framing children as a clear and present danger to their parents. It reminds me of radical feminist Sophie Lewis’ assertion that babies in utero commit “fetal violence” toward their mothers by introducing health threats to and demanding nourishment from their unfortunate maternal hosts. Likewise, Suzanne Sadedin says an unborn baby employs “manipulation, blackmail, and violence” against its mother while floating in the womb and usurping whatever sustenance it can suck from her body.
Collectivism is always the answer
What does the Surgeon General say should be done about this assault on parents’ health? The “We Can Take Action” section of the advisory starts with this preface: “[W]hile parents and caregivers may have the primary responsibility for raising children… [it] is a collective responsibility.” It then gives a laundry list of collectivist solutions including the following:
“Bolster support for childcare financial assistance programs such as childcare subsidies and child income tax credits; universal preschool; early childhood education programs.”
“Establish a national paid family and medical leave program.”
Prioritise “poverty reduction, prevention of adverse childhood experiences… and improve access to healthy food and affordable housing.”
“Strengthen public and private insurance coverage of mental health care.”
Expand workplace policies, including “paid parental, medical, and sick leave” and “access to childcare (in the community or on-site)”.
Unsurprisingly, most of the solutions call for more government intervention and lots more childcare. (Sorry, but universal preschool has not been shown to improve the situation of the majority of children or their parents.) We will never fix the problem by encouraging less family unity and more government “help” that comes at the cost of higher taxes.
There doesn’t seem to be acknowledgment in the Surgeon General’s Advisory that the separation of parents and children for most of the waking hours of every day and the reality of both parents focusing most of their time and efforts outside the home may be contributing to the very problem they’re trying to solve: the widespread breakdown of the mental health and happiness of both children and their parents.
The advisory does have some solid suggestions that deserve kudos. For instance, it urges friends and family members to offer practical support to parents, including “lending assistance with household chores, childcare responsibilities, or running errands” and “looking for ways to support parents and caregivers so they can take breaks, attend needed appointments, and engage in self-care activities.” Bravo.
Humble solutions
Here are some additional suggestions for policymakers and individuals:
Live near family. Grandparents and others can offer vital support. Studies show that living near grandparents can benefit children, parents, and grandparents.
Ease parents’ financial burdens by lowering taxes; do this by eliminating social programs, not increasing or expanding them. Largely let families solve their own problems with their own money.
Cultivate an economy in which one parent can primarily support the family financially, and one parent can primarily focus on the physical and emotional needs of their children.
Spend more time and effort preparing children for parenthood. Cultivate selflessness, sacrifice, and responsibility in children (Hint: Large families often foster this.)
Limit time spent on electronic devices for both parents and children (for more vital information on this, see my articles here and here.)
Revitalise THE NEIGHBOURHOOD. Initiate simple neighbourhood gatherings to get to know the people around you. Use social media neighbourhood groups to support each other, like offering to pick up a gallon of milk, etc., for the family next door.
Don’t wait for the government to save you. If you are overstressed — as I was at one time when my kids were young — ask another parent to swap babysitting with you every week (or as often as needed.) Doing this reduced my stress level significantly.
Reconsider and revise your priorities. If work has become more dominant than home life, or if your life is overrun with too much to do, simplify and sacrifice in order to focus on what matters most to you.

But you also sign up for a life of purpose and boundless adventure beyond what you could have imagined. And almost all parents rise to the occasion. They embrace the adventure of raising a family, and it gives them both daily and lifelong purpose. At the end of the day — and at the end of their lives — most parents consider themselves better off rather than worse off for having embarked on the irreplaceable adventure of becoming parents.
