Sarasota County had 84 percent voter turnout in Tuesday’s election, the highest of this century. Republican turnout was 138,498, or 87 percent. This is the result of strong candidates from top to bottom, hundreds of volunteers for the local GOP and well-financed, organized and professionally run operation to get the vote out. And boy did it pay off!

For elections this year, including the School Board in August, we were an overwhelming 28-4.

• President Trump won Sarasota County by 51,000 votes, doubling his previous margins of victory.

• Senator Scott won Sarasota County by 49,000 votes. Both men won by a margin of 18 percentage points.

• President Trump won Florida by 13 percentage points and so did Scott. These were not ever close. Florida is ruby red and Democrats and the media can stop pretending otherwise.

• Congressman Greg Steube won reelection by 61,000 votes, or 23 percentage points.

• State Rep. Fiona McFarland won reelection by 14,000 votes, or 13 percentage points.

• State Rep. James Buchanan won reelection by 34,000 votes, or 30 percentage points.

• Danny Nix won his state House seat by 13,000 votes, or 27 percentage points.

• Mike Moran defeated long, long time Sarasota County Tax Collector Barbara Ford-Coates by 7,000 votes, or 2.5 percentage points.

• Teresa Mast won her seat for Sarasota County Commissioner against a write-in candidate.

• Tom Knight won his seat for Sarasota County Commission by 23,000 votes, or almost 40 points.

• Every Republican won on the Sarasota County Charter Review Board:

Jay Riley won by 18 points

Tom DeSane won by 20 points

Greg “Tex” Bukowski won by 18 points

Jose Jimenez won by 18 points

Stephen Webber won when the Democrat dropped out.

• Every Republican won on the Sarasota Memorial Hospital Board:

Sharon Wetzler DePeters won by 22 points

Kevin Cooper won by 21 points

Pam Beitlich won by 23 points

Sarah Lodge won by 23 points

• Every Republican won for Venice City Council:

Kevin Engelke won by 6 points

Jim Boldt won by 6 points

• On the North Port City Commission there were two more victories:

Demetrius Petrow won by 10 points

Barbara Langdon won by 18 points

• The School District referendum passed 85-15 percent.

• The City of Venice referendum to align Venice elections to national elections passed 68-32 percent.

Tuesday was a tremendous day for Sarasota, Florida and America!
