I recently received an email from a former Green Beret, Sergeant First Class Jason Bacon, U.S. Army (Ret). I was surprised to find that our special operators are ready and willing to get into the fight. Having served in the 7th Special Forces Group I understand their commitment to excellence and to defending our nation.

In the email Sergeant First Class Jason Bacon announced that he and fellow special operator James Williamson have launched a new Green Beret Political Action Committee. In his email SFC Bacon states:

Former Green Berets and other Special Operations Forces are asking you for your help. Their brothers and sisters who are still on active service are prohibited from speaking, so they must do it for them.

Some of America’s most respected and highly trained warriors have a grave concern — that country they would gladly die for has reached a crisis point.

With President Biden and the radical Left at the helm, America has been challenged by a series of dramatic and historic national security failures such as the:

• Disgraceful retreat from Afghanistan
• Unprecedented failure to deter Russia
• Rising challenge of Chinese power in the Pacific
• Inability or unwillingness to stop rogue states like Iran and North Korea.

Normally, our creed is to remain silent – but Green Berets and Special Operations Forces are furious and frustrated at how President Biden has failed to defend our interests time and time again. To fulfill our oaths, we have to speak out.

Green Berets are men of action — doing nothing simply is no longer an option….and that’s where you come in.

Green Beret PAC was built to send men and women to Congress who have been tested in crucibles and molded to fight for our values.

SFC Bacon goes on to state,

Green Berets represent the best of America. These secret warriors do their jobs out of pure patriotism.

President John F. Kennedy said that “The Green Beret is again becoming a symbol of excellence, a badge of courage, a mark of distinction in the fight for freedom.”

They are not seeking praise or accolades for their work. Most of their work will remain a secret, but today, right now, they feel compelled to break their informal oath and speak out, because the fight for freedom has come home.

We need to elect proven leaders. We need to elect leaders who have proven their dedication to our country, to our ideals, and to our freedoms.

Jason was born and raised in northern Michigan. The son of a high decorated Vietnam veteran, Jason was taught early on about the importance of service and patriotism. He also learned the value of hard work, that honesty is always the best policy, and trust must be earned.

DEDICATED TO SERVING

Immediately following high school Jason enlisted in the U.S. Navy and deployed to the Adriatic Sea with the USS Saratoga carrier battle group. A few years later, he decided to follow his childhood dream of becoming a Green Beret and consequently left the Navy to enlist in the Army. Jason spent his military career in elite units such as the 82nd Airborne Division, 7th Special Forces Group, and the last 13 years of his 22-year career in the legendary 5th Special Forces Group. After retiring from the army, Jason worked as an instructor for the Source Operations Course at Fort Huachuca before joining the CIA as an agent in the elite Global Response Staff.

LIFE OF SERVICE

During his extensive career Jason conducted nine total combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as deploying to numerous other countries, first as a Special Forces Engineer and later as a Special Forces Intelligence Sergeant. During these deployments, he spent several years fighting Al Qaeda infiltrating into Iraq from the porous border with Syria. Jason also gained considerable experience in counter-terrorism and collecting and analyzing intelligence.

EXPERIENCED VETERAN LEADERSHIP Jason’s proven experience in overcoming challenging situations, leading others to success, and in-depth problem solving make him the person to fix the mess created by the insiders and career politicians. Jason’s exceptional experiences have brought with them levelheadedness, objectivity, an unshakeable commitment to leaving no man behind and selfless service. That’s why he set aside his Congressional candidacy to support his Green Beret teammates across the Country.

JAMES WILLIAMSON

Retired Special Forces Colonel Mr. James Williamson is Vice President and one of the two cofounders of the Green Beret PAC. He is a self-employed entrepreneur and small business owner.

A native of Delaware, Mr. Williamson enjoys a reputation as a seasoned executive possessing a strong business background with an emphasis in strategic thought, problem solving, and change implementation. Throughout the years, Mr. Williamson has achieved a substantive record of success, in his military career and in private industry serving in executive positions in three defense related companies. He maintains a vast network of productive relationships that support national security concerns, private security, complex problem solving within the military, senior governmental and corporate industries work of productive relationships that support national security concerns, private security, complex problem solving within the military, senior governmental and corporate industries.

Williamson was one of the two founding members of the Green Beret PAC. His leadership has been instrumental in recruiting new core and ‘at large’ members as he has led efforts on Capitol Hill which ultimately contributed to the appointment of a Select Committee to investigate Benghazi. He is an integral part the Green Beret PAC fundraising, recruiting, and campaign operations.

In addition to his professional and corporate responsibilities, Mr. Williamson has enjoyed a successful military career spanning over thirty years. Commissioned a Lieutenant of Infantry in 1982, Williamson served in Germany and then in the 82d Airborne Division in North Carolina. Graduating the Special Forces Qualification Course in 1989, Williamson went on to serve in the Gulf War and subsequent humanitarian actions in Southwest Asia before leaving active duty as a Captain for the private sector in 1992. Williamson remained an active reservist in a variety of active duty Special Forces joint and combined assignments at NATO, SOCEUR, SOCCENT, USSOCOM, and other special operations units. Assignments included Counter Terrorism Officer, J3X, J2X, Squadron Commander and, subsequently, as Deputy Commander, Joint Operations Support Element (JOSE). He is a combat veteran who has served in the US and overseas to include Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq, and other overseas locations.

Williamson holds a Bachelor’s Degree from University of Delaware with a major in Political Science. He holds a Master’s Degree in Government Contracting from George Washington University. He is a member of the Special Forces Association (SFA) and the Association For Intelligence Officers (AFIO) and InfraGard.

As veterans it is incumbent on us to support this effort to stop Biden’s “series of dramatic and historic national security failures.” Not to do so is not only wrong but is both a clear and present danger and threat to our national security.
