Shot Heard Round the Web: Unconditional Surrender
By Catherine Salgado
“Unconditional surrender.” It was the nickname of victorious Union general U.S. Grant and the rallying cry of WWII. For over a century, it typified the American spirit and American resolve in wartime, and it brought us win after win. Then we lost that spirit, and ever since our wars both military and political have never ended—they simply dragged on until enough disasters put a period to open fighting for a while. But if we’re to defeat our enemies both foreign and domestic, we must demand “unconditional surrender” again. . . The reason that Donald Trump made such short-sighted and ultimately deadly moves in regard to the Syrian jihadi government and the terror-sponsoring Islamic regime, removing sanctions and terror designations from the former and saving the latter from destruction by Israel, is because he doesn’t have the unconditional surrender mentality.
