The Left has, frankly, been openly anti-American since the 1960s. It was certainly less bold, and confined “I hate America” statements to its activists movements and its political fringe. Indeed, most of the Left’s activist movements are pretend-positive euphemisms for the negative sentiments “I hate America”, or “I hate Western Civilization”, or “I hate the first world.” Under the guise of a grand moral cause–stopping genocide, liberating a long-oppressed people–the Palestinian movement has proved especially effective in riling up anti-Americanism.
