July 4th, 1776 is the American anniversary. It is the day which marked the beginning of a new nation, the day upon which the rest of our history looks back on, the day to be cherished each year as the central event around which American governmental and civic life turns. As I have written before, America is also a miracle. It is the only country on earth where EVERYONE has the opportunity not merely to survive, but to achieve a state of blessed rest (in the Biblical sense) through his labor. It is the country of the middle class.
