Trump White House Plots Ways to Go After Left-Wing Groups

As Trump pledges to carry out investigations, conservative allies have been peppering the White House with advice on avenues to explore. Earlier this week, a memo began circulating among administration officials purporting to be a “roadmap” for officials to rid the country of “far-left extremist networks.”
Authored by Kyle Shideler, a conservative counterterrorism analyst, it says that “defeating the forces arrayed against the American republic will require a detailed understanding of the enemy and a systematic plan to break up their networks, utilizing all methods of national power.”
The memo laid out steps for agency-led investigations, notably calling for Justice Department officials to implement statutes pertaining to “treason, sedition, and subversive activities.”
“I’m hopeful my memo will help inform their approach and give them ideas on how they can make sure the president’s will is carried out,” Shideler told me, adding that he is “very excited that President Trump has indicated he intends to take this threat head on.”
