The True Craziness of the Phony Climate Change Narrative thumbnail

The True Craziness of the Phony Climate Change Narrative

By The Daily Skirmish – Liberato.US

Climate change activists have pulled all kinds of crazy stunts, recently.  Two activists were arrested for throwing tomato soup at van Gogh’s ‘Sunflowers’ painting in London.  They wore t-shirts that said “Just Stop Oil”.  It turns out that’s the name of a radical green group whose members are also gluing themselves to the road in Britain to stop traffic.  More green activists pulled the same stunt in France.  Back in Britain, another climate activist defaced an Aston Martin showroom with paint to protest oil production.  Another group there, Animal Rebellion, is damaging milk trucks and pouring milk out on grocery store floors to protest climate change.  They’ve also been occupying milk distribution facilities.  Turn on the TV and the craziness continues.  CBS Mornings blames the increasing number of overweight kids on climate change, saying rising temperatures keep them from playing outdoors.  Pretty crazy stuff, all around.

But here’s what’s really crazy:

It’s really crazy that people still believe polar bears are disappearing because of climate change when, in fact, they are thriving.

It’s really crazy that people still believe Arctic ice is melting down to nothing when, in truth, Arctic ice is at the highest level in a decade.

It’s really crazy people go right on believing in the phony climate change narrative when the entire thing is built on data tampering.  In 2019, a court dismissed Michael Mann’s defamation suit against a scientist who said Mann belonged in jail for falsifying his famous 1998 ‘hockey stick’ graph purportedly showing an alarming spike in global average temperatures.  The scientist defended against Mann’s defamation claim by saying his own position was true and attempted to put Mann to his proof.  But Mann wouldn’t produce his underlying research in court, so the court dismissed his case.  The scientist was not the first to show Mann’s hockey stick graph is a hoax.  The flaws were well-known by 2003.

The latest instance of data tampering has to do with Arctic sea ice.  U.N. and NASA hide the data from before 1979 to make it look on charts like Arctic sea ice is disappearing.  But 1979 was a peak year.  There may be less ice now than in 1979, but there is more than there was 15 years ago – Arctic ice is at a decade high, as I mentioned earlier.  Also, there was very little ice in the Arctic 6,000 years ago BEFORE the burning of fossil fuels, which puts the nail in the coffin of the entire phony climate change narrative.

It’s really crazy to keep believing in the climate change narrative when green groups pushing the narrative have deep ties to the Chinese Communist Party and Russia, both of which would be only too happy to watch the U.S. commit energy suicide.  Why is it climate czar John Kerry isn’t being transparent about his ties to China and radical green groups here at home?  House Republicans have told Kerry to preserve his records, because there will be investigations if the Republicans take over the House.

It’s really crazy to take the climate change narrative at face value when the true agenda – Marxist redistribution of wealth at home and abroad – is plain for all to see.  Joe Biden just pledged $11 billion a year to send to poor countries supposedly to fight climate change.  His EPA just launched an ‘Environmental Justice’ office to dispense $3 billion in federal grants created by the recent climate legislation.  The money is going to poor and minority communities.  Plus we had a fresh reminder the climate change narrative is green on the outside but communist red on the inside from the Democrat Senate candidate in Wisconsin who repeated the sentiment the world needs to “stymie capitalism” to fight climate change.  Free enterprise is the “path to destruction”, he said.  So there you have it.  Climate change is just the fig leaf to justify giving all our money away and making sure the world never accumulates its current level of wealth ever again.

Finally, it’s utterly delusional for the Democrat Biden administration to force a green energy ‘transition’ on the country when solar and wind power are not reliable, cheap, or even environmentally-friendly.  The administration’s entire vision is at the whim of commodity prices for minerals like lithium which are rising, as I’ve pointed out in previous commentary.  It also makes us completely dependent on China, which has declared itself our enemy.

A forced green energy transition is a pipedream.  We need to stop this madness now and recognize fossil fuels are both necessary and here to stay, or we will be the ones crying over spilled milk.

Watch as Campaigners Fail to Prevent Morano and Monckton from Talking Climate in London, England

By Committee For A Constructive Tomorrow

CFACT’s Marc Morano joined Lord Christopher Monckton to debunk global warming propaganda at the Global Investment in Sustainable Development conference in London.

Climate campaigners tried hard to stop them from speaking, but failed.

The conference, billed as a “Green Davos,” is an opportunity for investors to cash in on the UN’s upcoming COP27 climate conference in Egypt.

The forum took place despite U.K. Climate Minister Graham Stuart withdrawing his keynote speech, and Dr. Aaron Thierry (pictured above with his hand glued to a building in protest of carbon) pulling out of a debate.

Watch Morano and Monckton discuss the hit they made at the conference on the Mark Steyn show on GB News.  Attendees actually voted to extend Morano and Monckton’s presentation.  Another session voluntarily canceled to make time for them!

Morano and Monckton told Mark Steyn that business leaders continually came up to them at the conference and told them that they privately absolutely agree with them.  They keep up the climate alarm pretense for political, social and financial reasons.  CFACT has experienced this for years.

Global warming propaganda never holds up when confronted in an honest forum.  That is why the Left never ceases working to stifle debate and suppress facts that correct the record on climate.

Watch Morano and Monckton:

Business leaders are well aware that the Left is lying on climate.

As Lord Monckton said, “the cracks are starting to show.”

Water Vapor Drives Climate Change Because It Causes Over 50% of All Green House Gases—Not CO2 thumbnail

Water Vapor Drives Climate Change Because It Causes Over 50% of All Green House Gases—Not CO2

By Dr. Rich Swier

We have long had an interest in the weather and our climate. We are conservationists and believe that it is our responsibility to use all of the resources on this earth for the good of mankind.

However, there has been a growing green movement to protect the earth while harming mankind. Here’s an example of what has been referred to as eco-terrorism. Watch what Just Stop Oil does to make its point.

Activists with @JustStop_Oil have thrown tomato soup on Van Gogh’s Sunflowers at the national Gallery and glued themselves to the wall. pic.twitter.com/M8YP1LPTOU

— Damien Gayle (@damiengayle) October 14, 2022

What Just Stop Oil is missing is that it isn’t fossil fuels that’s driving changes in our climate. Rather it’s the effects of water vaporizing.

It’s Water Vapor Stupid

On February 8, 2022 NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Alan Buis reported,

Water vapor is Earth’s most abundant greenhouse gas. It’s responsible for about half of Earth’s greenhouse effect — the process that occurs when gases in Earth’s atmosphere trap the Sun’s heat. Greenhouse gases keep our planet livable. Without them, Earth’s surface temperature would be about 59 degrees Fahrenheit (33 degrees Celsius) colder. Water vapor is also a key part of Earth’s water cycle: the path that all water follows as it moves around Earth’s atmosphere, land, and ocean as liquid water, solid ice, and gaseous water vapor.

Since the late 1800s, global average surface temperatures have increased by about 2 degrees Fahrenheit (1.1 degrees Celsius). Data from satellites, weather balloons, and ground measurements confirm the amount of atmospheric water vapor is increasing as the climate warms. (The United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Sixth Assessment Report states total atmospheric water vapor is increasing 1 to 2% per decade.) For every degree Celsius that Earth’s atmospheric temperature rises, the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere can increase by about 7%, according to the laws of thermodynamics. [Emphasis added]

Climate Change Connection in an article titled What About Water Vapor reported,

Water vapour is the most abundant greenhouse gas in the atmosphere, yet other greenhouse gases (such as carbon dioxide and methane) are often portrayed as the main drivers of climate change. Why is that?

ANSWER:

Water vapour is the most abundant greenhouse gas in the atmosphere, both by weight and by volume (1)(2)Water vapour is also an effective greenhouse gas, as it does absorb longwave radiation and radiates it back to the surface, thus contributing to warming.

When compared to other greenhouse gases, water vapour stays in the atmosphere for a much shorter period of time. Water vapour will generally stay in the atmosphere for days (before precipitating out) while other greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide or methane, will stay in the atmosphere for a much longer period of time (ranging from years to centuries) thus contributing to warming for an extended period of time.

The addition of water vapour to the atmosphere, for the most part, cannot be directly attributed to human generated activities. Increased water vapor content in the atmosphere is referred to as a feedback process. Warmer air is able to hold more moisture. As the climate warms, air temperatures rise, more evaporation from water sources and land occurs, thus increasing the atmospheric moisture content. The increase in water vapour in the atmosphere, because water vapour is an effective greenhouse gas, thus contributes to even more warming: it enhances the greenhouse effect.

Water vapour is often discussed and recognized as being an important part of the global warming process. The water vapour feedback process is most likely responsible for a doubling of the greenhouse effect when compared to the addition of carbon dioxide on its own (3).

ACS Chemistry for Life in an article titled Water Vapor and Climate Change reports,

Although water vapor probably accounts for about 60% of the Earth’s greenhouse warming effect, water vapor does not control the Earth’s temperature. Instead, the amount of water vapor is controlled by the temperature. This is because the temperature of the surrounding atmosphere limits the maximum amount of water vapor the atmosphere can contain. If a volume of air contains its maximum amount of water vapor and the temperature is decreased, some of the water vapor will condense to form liquid water. This is why clouds form as warm air containing water vapor rises and cools at higher altitudes where the water condenses to the tiny droplets that make up clouds.

The greenhouse effect that has maintained the Earth’s temperature at a level warm enough for human civilization to develop over the past several millennia is controlled by non-condensable gases, mainly carbon dioxide, CO2, with smaller contributions from methane, CH4, nitrous oxide, N2O, and ozone, O3. Since the middle of the 20th century, small amounts of man-made gases, mostly chlorine- and fluorine-containing solvents and refrigerants, have been added to the mix. Because these gases are not condensable at atmospheric temperatures and pressures, the atmosphere can pack in much more of these gases. Thus, CO2 (as well as CH4, N2O, and O3) has been building up in the atmosphere since the Industrial Revolution when we began burning large amounts of fossil fuel.

The Bottom Line

In a July 24, 2017 Daily Signal op-ed titled Don’t Believe the Hysteria Over Carbon Dioxide then Chairman of the House Committee on Science, Space & Technology Rep. Lamar Smith wrote,

The way Americans perceive climate change is too often determined by their hearing just one side of the story.

The American people should be made aware of both the negative and positive impacts of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Without the whole story, how can we expect an objective evaluation of the issues involving climate change?

While it is indisputable that the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is gradually increasing, this does not automatically justify all of the alarmists’ claims.

The benefits of a changing climate are often ignored and under-researched. Our climate is too complex and the consequences of misguided policies too harsh to discount the positive effects of carbon enrichment.

A higher concentration of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere would aid photosynthesis, which in turn contributes to increased plant growth. This correlates to a greater volume of food production and better quality food. Studies indicate that crops would utilize water more efficiently, requiring less water. And colder areas along the farm belt will experience longer growing seasons.

While crops typically suffer from high heat and lack of rainfall, carbon enrichment helps produce more resilient food crops, such as maize, soybeans, wheat, and rice. In fact, atmospheric carbon dioxide is so important for plant health that greenhouses often use a carbon dioxide generator to increase production.

Besides food production, another benefit of increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is the lush vegetation that results. The world’s vegetated areas are becoming 25-50 percent greener, according to satellite images. Seventy percent of this greening is due to a rise in atmospheric carbon dioxide.

Greater vegetation assists in controlling water runoff, provides more habitats for many animal species, and even aids in climate stabilization, as more vegetation absorbs more carbon dioxide. When plant diversity increases, these vegetated areas can better eliminate carbon from the atmosphere.

Also, as the Earth warms, we are seeing beneficial changes to the earth’s geography. For instance, Arctic sea ice is decreasing. This development will create new commercial shipping lanes that provide faster, more convenient, and less costly routes between ports in Asia, Europe, and eastern North America. This will increase international trade and strengthen the world economy.

Fossil fuels have helped raise the standard of living for billions of people. Furthermore, research has shown that regions that have enjoyed a major reduction in poverty achieved these gains by expanding the use of fossil fuels for energy sources.

When we went to high school we learned about photosynthesis which is the process by which green plants and some other organisms use sunlight to synthesize foods from carbon dioxide and water. Photosynthesis in plants generally involves the green pigment chlorophyll and generates oxygen as a by product.

National Geographic in an article titled Photosynthesis reported,

Photosynthesis is the process by which plants use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to create oxygen and energy in the form of sugar.

Most life on Earth depends on photosynthesis. The process is carried out by plants, algae, and some types of bacteria, which capture energy from sunlight to produce oxygen (O2) and chemical energy stored in glucose (a sugar). Herbivores then obtain this energy by eating plants, and carnivores obtain it by eating herbivores.

The process

During photosynthesis, plants take in carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O) from the air and soil. Within the plant cell, the water is oxidized, meaning it loses electrons, while the carbon dioxide is reduced, meaning it gains electrons. This transforms the water into oxygen and the carbon dioxide into glucose. The plant then releases the oxygen back into the air, and stores energy within the glucose molecules.

So, it’s quite simple really. The more CO2 the greener the planet, the more food is produced and we have clean oxygen to breath.

CO2 is good. Water vapor is also good.

It’s the science, stupid.

The National Security Implications of Electric Vehicle Fires thumbnail

The National Security Implications of Electric Vehicle Fires

By The Daily Skirmish – Liberato.US

I’ve commented many times on the problems with the Biden administration’s push to ‘transition’ the nation to electric vehicles come hell or high water.  Still more problems have become apparent in recent weeks and they have national security implications.

Lots of electric cars caught fire during Hurricane Ian in Florida.  The batteries corroded, causing the vehicles to burst into flame, presenting a new type of problem for firefighters who can’t always put the fires out, not even with 1,500 gallons of water.  Lithium-ion batteries are composed of highly flammable materials and, if any part of the battery fails or short-circuits, flames quickly cascade through the rest of the battery in a process called “thermal runaway”.  Did you know there have been scores of electric scooter fires in New York City in the past two years and three resulting deaths?  How come the unicorns-and-rainbows Biden administration isn’t telling us about that?

Government reports show the Biden administration is aware EV production depends on the use of child labor in cobalt mines in Africa.  “Children in the Democratic Republic of the Congo labor under harsh and dangerous conditions to mine cobalt ore,” one report said.  Another said, “40,000 children, some as young as 6 years old, work in cobalt mines. Often working in tight spaces underground without proper safety equipment or procedures, child laborers face serious risks of injury or death.”  Given these reports, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm and the other moral monsters in the Biden administration pushing EVs have been made fully aware of the child exploitation problem with EVs, but they don’t care and they don’t let it interfere with their agenda.

Rural states are telling the feds that current plans for requiring EV charging stations every 50 miles along lonely stretches of highway are wildly impractical.  The electrical infrastructure just doesn’t exist.  Moreover, the feds want high-capacity charging stations, which Wyoming says, could not possibly be profitable until the 2040s.

More information has come in about the weight of electric vehicles adding a ‘fatality factor’ to car crashes.  Simply put, more people will die because of momentum and rotational inertia, the inability to change the direction of heavy electric vehicles headed to a collision.  Pete Buttigieg never told us about that.  Like the rest of the Biden administration, he never changes direction, either.

Another problem with EVs that’s come to light is the fact that their economic viability depends on one crucial factor: the price of lithium.  As I told you previously, Indigenous peoples and governments in Latin America are moving to clamp down on lithium mining because of the environmental damage it is causing.  Lithium prices are already at a record high.  This situation reminds me of how the economic assumptions of the nuclear power industry went haywire in the 1970s when the price of yellowcake uranium rose 700 percent.  Why hasn’t the Biden administration stress-tested the economics of the electric vehicle industry for potential increases in lithium prices, or told us the results if they have?

Now for the national security implications.  The military is rushing into electric vehicles.  What would happen to the defense budget if the price of lithium increases 700 percent?  What is the Pentagon’s plan for putting out battery fires at military bases under attack?   What are the implications of the military’s own report heavier electric vehicles are not as maneuverable?   Where will the massive amounts of electricity needed to recharge electric vehicles come from on the battlefield?  Why is the military pursuing EVs that don’t meet the military’s own range requirements?  What will it take to obtain high-capacity charging stations that will enable the military to charge EVs in the same amount of time it takes to refuel current vehicles?

Call me a cynic, but I’m not taking the Biden administration or the Pentagon’s fervor for EVs at face value, not when it’s been reported many Biden officials personally own green energy investments that rise in value proportionally to how much green energy policy they can foist on the country. None dare call it fascism.  [Daily Skirmish – 7/27/22]   And not when it’s just been reported a Pentagon official participated in discussions about blacklisting a Chinese company in which he personally owned stock.  A lot of electric vehicle batteries come from China.  It’s also just been reported that thousands of government officials own stock in the companies their agencies regulate.  So don’t tell me the Biden administration and Pentagon push to electric vehicles is totally on the up-and-up.  I don’t believe you.  They have to know about all the problems with EVs I’ve been telling you about, but they’re pushing EVs on us, anyway.  Every one of their press releases should come with a financial disclosure statement, as far as I’m concerned.

Rush into EVs? — Where’s the fire?

UN Weather Chief: ‘From climate perspective, the war in Ukraine may be seen as a blessing’ thumbnail

UN Weather Chief: ‘From climate perspective, the war in Ukraine may be seen as a blessing’

By Marc Morano

Putin is the UN’s new Climate Hero. Will Vladimir Putin now get a Nobel Peace Prize like Al Gore did in 2007 in service of the climate?

UN: Putin a Climate Hero?! UN Weather chief: ‘From climate perspective, the war in Ukraine may be seen as a blessing’

GENEVA (AP) — The head of the U.N. weather agency says the war in Ukraine “may be seen as a blessing” from a climate perspective because it is accelerating the development of and investment in green energies over the longer term — even though fossil fuels are being used at a time of high demand now.

The comments from Petteri Taalas, secretary-general of the World Meteorological Organization, came as the world is facing a shortfall in energy needs — prompted in part by economic sanctions against key oil and natural gas producer Russia — and prices for fossil fuels have risen.

That has led some countries to turn quickly to alternatives like coal. But rising prices for carbon-spewing fuels like oil, gas and coal have also made higher-priced renewable energies like solar, wind and hydrothermal more competitive in the energy marketplace.

The energy crunch has also led many big consuming countries in Europe and beyond to initiate conservation measures, and talk of rationing has emerged in some places.

Taalas acknowledged that the war in Ukraine has been a “shock for the European energy sector,” and has prompted an upturn in the use of fossil energies.

“From the five- to 10-year timescale, it’s clear that this war in Ukraine will speed up our consumption of fossil energy, and it’s speeding up this green transition,” Taalas said.

“So we are going to invest much more in renewable energy, energy-saving solutions,” and some small-scale nuclear reactors are likely to come online by 2030 as “part of the solution,” he said.

“So from climate perspective, the war in Ukraine may be seen as a blessing,” Taalas added.

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and other leaders in the U.N. system have repeatedly made the point “that as well as the tragic human impacts, the conflict underscores the rising costs of the world’s fossil fuel addiction, and the urgent need to accelerate the shift to renewables, to protect people and planet,” U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric said.

Taalas was speaking as WMO issued a new report that said the supply of electricity from cleaner sources of energy needs to double within the next eight years to curb an increase in global temperatures.

The latest “State of Climate Services” annual report — based on contributions from 26 different organizations — focuses this year on energy.

Taalas said the energy sector currently is responsible for about three-quarters of emissions of heat-trapping greenhouse gases, and he called for a “complete transformation” of the global energy system.

He warned that climate change is affecting electricity generation — and it could have an increasing impact in the future. Among the risks, nuclear plants that rely on water for cooling could be affected by water shortages, and some are located in coastal areas that are vulnerable to sea-level rise or flooding.

In its report, WMO noted that in 2020, some 87% or global electricity generated from thermal, nuclear and hydroelectric systems — which produce less CO2 than plants run by fossil fuels — depended on water availability.

As the UN now openly admits, high energy prices and shortages are NOT the unintended consequences of the Green New Deal-style policies, they are the INTENDED consequences. In short, there is no better way to increase the politicians’ and bureaucrats’ power than by exploiting war, tragedy and chaos. Skyrocketing energy prices are exactly what the climate and environmental agenda demand and has demanded for the past 50-plus years. From President Obama to President Biden, higher energy costs have been the plan to soften up Americans and the economy to prepare them for accepting less in order to impose the progressive energy-restricted vision on society. Endless wars, high energy prices and shortages will condition Americans and Europeans to accept a ‘new normal’ in energy that is entirely due to following the climate agenda.”

Biden’s Energy Chaos: The Who, What, When, Why and How? thumbnail

Biden’s Energy Chaos: The Who, What, When, Why and How?

By Dr. Rich Swier

Cheap and reliable energy is what makes our nation strong. Without it we devolve into a second rate nation.

Biden’s key policy is to create chaos in our ability to discover, mine, drill, extract, refine, transport and provide cheap and reliable energy to every American family, community, business and government at every level.

Watch this video interview with Rick Perry, the 14th United States Secretary of Energy from 2017 to 2019 and the 47th Governor of Texas from 2000 to 2015, on Fox News to discuss the Biden Administration’s Energy Crisis:

Here are the answers to the questions we asked in the title.

WHO: Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. and Jennifer Mulhern Granholm the United States Secretary of Energy. Granholm said, “I think blaming the president for high gas prices is like blaming Rudy Giuliani for 9/11.Note: The twin towers in New York City and the Pentagon were deliberately attacked by radical Islamic terrorist group al Qaeda. Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. deliberately canceled the Keystone XL pipeline, stopped issuing permits to explore and drill for oil and natural gas, made the decision to eliminate fossil fuel use and is dedicated to green energy. Both of these are terrorist attacks on the American people.

WHAT: The Green New Deal.  The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA)—a sweeping climate and health care package that invests $369 billion in energy, climate, and justice over 10 years—was signed into law in August of 2022. After the law was signed by Biden Natural Resources Defense Council President Manish Bapna stated, “This law moves us closer to President Biden’s pledge to cut climate pollution 50 to 52 percent from 2005 levels by 2030. To get there, he must use his established authority to write rules to help cut carbon pollution from our cars, trucks, and dirty power plants, reduce methane emissions, and keep investors informed on corporate climate risk…This is a turning point in the climate fight – the strongest U.S. action yet to confront the existential challenge of our time [climate change].” Note: No piece of legislation can alter the weather, let alone the climate. Climate change is a myth to pass legislation that forces mankind to do things that harm it.

WHEN: August 2022 with the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA). Note: The passage of this act has not reduced inflation. In fact consumer prices and the inflation rate was 9.1% in June and has gotten much worse and America is officially in a recession. Wall Street is experiencing a bull market as well. The U.S. dollar has lost 13% its value since 2020. Today’s prices are 1.14 times higher than average prices since 2020, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics consumer price index. A dollar today only buys 87.390% of what it could buy back then. The inflation rate in 2020 was 1.23%. JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon stated that the S&P 500 could yet fall by “another easy 20%” from current levels, adding that “the next 20% would be much more painful than the first.” Global inflation is forecast to rise from 4.7 percent in 2021 to 8.8 percent in 2022.

WHY: Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. policies including lockdowns, vaccine mandates, goal to eliminate fossil fuels and his anti-capitalism policies.

HOW: By Executive Orders and legislation passed by the current Democrat controlled Congress.

Does Mankind Have An Endless Supply Of Oil and Natural Gas?

By Dr. Rich Swier

Globally, people  are used to hearing and reading about fossils fuels. The first use of the term “fossil fuel” occurs in the work of the German chemist Caspar Neumann in 1759.

The term fossil fuels refers to hydrocarbon-containing materials formed naturally in the earth’s crust from the remains of dead plants and animals that is extracted and burned as a fuel. The main fossil fuels are coal, crude oil and natural gas.

Environmentalists believe that in order to save planet earth mankind must stop using fossil fuels.

For a dedicated environmentalist, like Al Gore, have used the words “fossil fuels” as a pejorative to demonize those who discover, mine, drill for, refine, transport, sell and then use coal, oil, natural gas to fuel their homes and businesses and keep the lights on in government buildings at every level.

Fossil fuels contribute 81% of the global energy system, the same percentage as 30 years ago. The remainder of the global energy system is: hydroelectric at 16%, nuclear at 10.3%, wind at 6% and solar at 2%.

These environmentalists also believe that mankind can control the climate by simply ending the use of all fossil fuels.

Given the importance of having cheap and reliable power we have always been interested in new theories on energy. We received an email from a reader asking that we research the theory of “Abiotic Oil” and do a column on it. So being loyal to our readers we decided to some research on it.

We found that the theory of “Abiotic Oil” isn’t nearly as insane as  the environmentalist’s theory that mankind can control the climate by simply ending the use of all fossil fuels.

Here is what we found out about Abiotic Oil

Wikipedia states, “The abiogenic petroleum origin is a largely discredited hypothesis which proposes that most of earth’s petroleum and natural gas deposits were formed inorganically.

QUESTION: Is Wikipedia right or wrong?

On November 13th, 2008 in a Forbes magazine article titled Endless Oil? Robert Langreth reported,

Everybody knows that oil and gas drilled out of the earth comes from the remains of plants and animals trapped underground millions of years ago. This received wisdom so dominates our thinking that it is enshrined in the very language we use–fossil fuels. They took eons to form, and we are using them up far faster than they can be replenished.

What if the whole theory is wrong?

That’s the premise of a small but passionate band of Russian and Ukrainian contrarians. They argue that oil and gas don’t come from fossils; they’re synthesized deep within the earth’s mantle by heat, pressure and other purely chemical means, before gradually rising to the surface. Under the so-called abiotic theory of oil, finding all the energy we need is just a matter of looking beyond the traditional basins where fossils might have accumulated.

The idea that oil comes from fossils “is a myth. … We need to change this myth,” says petroleum engineer Vladimir Kutcherov, at the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. “All kinds of rocks could have oil and gas deposits.”

Alexander Kitchka of the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences brashly estimates that 60% of the content of all oil is abiotic in origin, and not from fossil fuels. He says companies should drill deeper to find it.

Kitchka says oil may be found in all sorts of geological structures such as volcanic rock or deep-sea thermal vents where companies aren’t looking today.

On September 14th, 2011 in a U.S. News and World Report article titled Abiotic Oil a Theory Worth Exploring – Oil may not be formed the way we think it is Gregg Laskoski wrote,

It’s our nature to sort, divide, and classify. We label ourselves to identify political leanings, religious beliefs, the food we enjoy, and the sports teams we cheer. The oil industry too has its own distinct labels which include the “Peak Oil” theorists, those who believe the world is fast depleting the finite supply of fossil fuel; and the pragmatists, those who recognize that engineering and technological advances in oil drilling and extraction continuously identify new reserves that make oil plentiful.

And there’s a third group you may not know. These people are deeply interested in oil and its origins, but their advocacy of “abiotic theory” has many dismissing them as heretics, frauds, or idealists. They hold that oil can be derived from hydrocarbons that existed eons ago in massive pools deep within the earth’s core. That source of hydrocarbons seeps up through the earth’s layers and slowly replenishes oil sources. In other words, it turns the fossil-fuel paradigm upside down.

Perhaps the breakthrough for this theory came when Chris Cooper’s story appeared April 16, 1999, in The Wall Street Journal about an oil field called Eugene Island. Here’s an excerpt:

Production at the oil field, deep in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Louisiana, was supposed to have declined years ago. And for a while, it behaved like any normal field: Following its 1973 discovery, Eugene Island 330’s output peaked at about 15,000 barrels a day. By 1989, production had slowed to about 4,000 barrels a day.

Then suddenly—some say almost inexplicably—Eugene Island’s fortunes reversed. The field, operated by PennzEnergy Co., is now producing 13,000 barrels a day, and probable reserves have rocketed to more than 400 million barrels from 60 million. Stranger still, scientists studying the field say the crude coming out of the pipe is of a geological age quite different from the oil that gushed 10 years ago.

[ … ]

The idea that oil comes from fossils “is a myth” that needs changing according to petroleum engineer Vladimir Kutcherov, speaking at the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. “All kinds of rocks could have oil and gas deposits.”

Alexander Kitchka of the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences estimates that 60 percent of the content of all oil is abiotic in origin and not from fossil fuels. He says companies should drill deeper to find it.

Is abiotic theory the real deal? Is Eugene Island “Exhibit A?” Look how long it’s taken for this conversation to reach a tipping point!

Maybe is we stop using the term “fossil fuels” and start using the term “abiogenic petroleum” or “abiogenic power” the environmentalists will back off?

Just kidding. Their goal is to harm mankind while saving the planet. Get it? Got it? Good.

Who gave our pen-pushing bureaucrats the right to settle the science?

By MercatorNet – Navigating Modern Complexities

A group of Australian doctors, scientists, and leading academics aims to “end mandates and social coercion, and stop lockdowns happening again.”

People of a certain age will remember only too well Pastor Martin Niemöller’s poignant lament that as the Nazis hunted down groups one by one, those outside the target groups kept their head down and voice quiet in order to stay out of trouble. “Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me.”

In the Covid equivalent, since 2020 first they went after the lockdown critics, organising “devastating takedowns” of “fringe epidemiologists” just as with the three authors of the Great Barrington Declaration, forging semi-fascist alliances between state and corporate power involving Big Government, Big Tech, Big Pharma, Big Media and Big Philanthropy.

Then they went after the mask mandate resisters, othering them as selfish far right-wingers with no thought for the welfare of the collective community. Next they moved seamlessly to the vaccine-hesitant, tarring and treating them as germ-carrying walking biohazards too diseased and unclean to be fit for society.

No middle ground

Justin Trudeau talked the banks and financial service providers into freezing the funds and accounts of anyone supporting the truckers’ Freedom Convoy and PayPal UK most recently demonetised Toby Young and the Free Speech Union. Stung by the immediate, powerful and growing backlash, they’ve cancelled their own cancellation, but that doesn’t detract from the new chilling low of attacking an organisation that took no position of its own but merely defended the right of everyone to speak freely.

Australia was not immune to the galloping authoritarianism of Western democracies. Melbourne was Ground Zero for some of the most draconian restrictions on individual freedoms and civil liberties, as most routine daily activities were criminalised for people and small businesses.

Victoria became the world leader among democracies in police excesses, as peaceful protestors (yes, you read that right) were bashed with batons, fired upon with rubber bullets, a pregnant young woman was arrested and handcuffed in the presence of her toddlers while still in pyjamas for posting on Facebook about a planned peaceful protest with people asked to be masked and respect social distancing, and so on. Sydney streets were patrolled by the military.

A handy compilation of these scenes can be seen in this sober yet partly fun interview with Jay Bhattacharya when he was recently in Melbourne.

Excessive legislation

Yesterday, September 28, I received a press release from the Australian Medical Network (AMN). A bill before the Queensland Parliament is to be debated and voted into law on October 11.

It will compel doctors to refrain from saying anything that reduces “public confidence in safety.” According to the AMN, the new law means (1) “government health bureaucrats will determine how doctors should approach treatment recommendations for their patients” and (2) would give to the health regulators “the power to sanction doctors for expressing their professional opinion based on their assessment of the best available science.”

Furthermore, by legal provisions I don’t fully understand but a couple of lawyers examining this have assured me is a correct understanding, once enacted, the state law will become more or less the national law.

The collapsing official narrative

The debate is over, the verdict is in: lockdowns did not work in reducing Covid infection and mortality burdens but did cause enormous and lasting damage on health (especially through cancelled operations and deferred screenings for treatable-if-detected-early killer diseases like cancers and heart conditions), mental health, children’s development, youth well-being, and employment, poverty, food security, and economic outcomes.

Dr Scott Atlas from Stanford University’s Medical Center and later the coronavirus adviser to President Donald Trump, explained how policies of total isolation prevent the development of population immunity which prolongs the problem. The harm/benefit balance of lockdowns, school closures, masks and universal instead of age-segregated vaccines is tilting increasingly toward net harms.

A US assessment released in September showed school closures had wiped out decades of progress in math and reading. Numerous studies show little correlation between the severity, timing and duration of lockdown either for countries or for US states. Age-adjusted mortality of Florida today is no worse than that of New York.

Much-maligned Brazil’s mortality rate is less than half that of hard and extended lockdown Peru, significantly lower than Czechia, nearly identical to Chile and only slightly higher than UK and Italy. Its cumulative cases per million people is currently less than half that of Australia and the pandemic’s hermit kingdom New Zealand, and lower than highly-masked Japan and South Korea.

In July 2020, Sweden’s chief epidemiologist Anders Tegnell said: judge me in a year. Two years later, he stands vindicated. Sweden’s cumulative Covid deaths per million puts it 30th of 47 European countries. Many hard lockdown countries fared worse: Czechia, Italy, Belgium, UK, Spain, France, Austria. Sweden’s cumulative excess mortality is lower than these seven. Its cumulative cases per million people is lower than Australia, New Zealand, the EU, the US and South Korea.

Crucially for my purposes today, Tegnell explained in April 2020 that lockdowns have no “historical scientific basis.” Scepticism toward lockdowns and masks was the reigning scientific and policy orthodoxy before 2020. The UK Pandemic Preparedness Strategy, for example, acknowledged that:

“Although there is a perception that the wearing of facemasks by the public in the community and household setting may be beneficial, there is in fact very little evidence of widespread benefit from their use in this setting.”

Western governments were impressed by dubious claims of success from Beijing in eradicating the virus, on the one hand, and panicked by the doomsday predictions of models using flawed assumptions, on the other. But “settled science” built up over a century cannot be overturned in weeks and all the data since early 2020 reinforces the prevailing pre-Covid scientific and policy consensus.

Last December, Hillsdale College in Washington, DC announced the creation of the Academy for Science and Freedom. Its mission is “To combat the recent and widespread abuses of individual and academic freedom in the name of science.” In the effort to enforce a nonexistent consensus, dissident scientists were “silenced, censored, and slandered” as the single-viewpoint-dominant public health community actively engaged “in intimidation and false declarations of consensus.”

Many health experts made profound errors in judgment, failed to adjust based on growing data and continued to pronounce their initial assessments as forever correct.

Australians…

On September 21, Drs Conny Turni and Astrid Lefringhausen published an Australia-centric peer-reviewed article on Covid vaccines in the Journal of Clinical and Experimental Immunology. They decry the dismissal of robust and durable natural immunity, the banning of treatment using low-cost repurposed drugs recommended by many US doctors and the dogmatic rejection of the claim that, like existing coronaviruses that became endemic even without vaccines, Covid-19 too would do so.

They hold that under-18s are more than 50 times likely to die from mRNA vaccines, which cause more side effects than any other vaccine, than from Covid. Their very final sentence asks: “Who gave bureaucrats the means to destroy the fundamentals of science and tell scientists not to argue the science”?

Good question.

In July, Denmark banned Covid vaccines for healthy under-18s and in September also for under-50s. Norway has banned them for healthy under-65s. Both are among the world’s most aggressive countries in public health measures. Meanwhile on July 19, Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration approved a Moderna vaccine for children aged 0.5-5 years, followed by a Pfizer vaccine on September 29. They cannot all be following The Science™.

NSW Health data back Denmark’s and Norway’s conclusion that Covid poses grave risks only to the elderly. In the last four months (May 22–September 17), just 0.1 and 1.5 percent of the 2,134 Covid deaths were under 20 and 50, respectively. Among those with known vaccination status, only 16 of the 7,857 hospital and 10 of 730 ICU admissions were unvaccinated, compared to 5,769 and 538 boosted, respectively.

This is consistent with the results from an Oxford study published in Lancet on June 30 which found that two doses of the vaccine increase the infection rate by 44 per cent (supplementary Table 7). The strain on the health system — the only justification for coercive mandates — is much greater from the numbers of healthcare staff who’ve been fired for refusing the jab than from the great unvaxxed.

… For Science

The combination of growing numbers with natural immunity from infections, the protective benefits of vaccines for high-risk elderly, and diminished lethality of newer virus variants of concern mean we are at a good place for reevaluating the relationship between good science, good policy and good politics.

I am part of a diverse group of Australian clinicians, academics, lawyers and social, economic and policy commentators united in growing disquiet at federal and state responses to the pandemic. Our main purpose is to reflect on mistakes made and lessons to be learnt in order to avoid repetitions in the future of policy interventions that rely on social coercion and population-wide mandates.

We believe good science leads to good policies and good politics must underpin, not undermine free societies.

The name of the group is yet to be settled. “Academy for Science and Freedom” could cause confusion with the US group and also worry those disillusioned with academe as the incubator of cancel culture and viewpoint conformism (“‘University’ is the antonym for ‘diversity’”). “Australians for Science and Freedom” broadens the group beyond the academy, yet keeps the intellectual and philosophical links with the US group through the common acronym ASF.

Driven by intellectual curiosity, questioning existing knowledge and the fit between theoretical frameworks and empirical data is the essence of the scientific enterprise. In July 2021, an article in the Wall Street Journal explored how science lost the public’s trust. A poll by the respected Pew Research Center on February 15 mapped falling confidence in medical scientists between April 2020 and December 2021. Journalists and elected officials fared significantly worse.

… and Freedom

The freedom side of the agenda has three components.

First, free inquiry, including the freedom to be sceptical and question established wisdom or the dominant worldview and set of beliefs, is integral to scientific advance and progress. Without this, we would all still be flat-earthers.

Second of course and, if anything, even more important, is the meaning, practices and survival of a free society instead of a command-and-control society with a China-style social credit system for rewarding compliant and punishing deviant behaviour.

Finally, freedom is integral to the practice of medicine.

It underpins the sacred Hippocratic Oath of “First, Do No Harm.” It is indispensable to the principle of informed consent to treatment options, if necessary after second and third opinions. And it is fundamental to the sanctity of the doctor-patient relationship. It’s deeply unethical for the health bureaucrat and drug regulator to insert themselves as disinterested third parties into that relationship. There is absolutely no substitute for the combination of doctors’ formal training, clinical experience and intimate knowledge of the patient.

Recalling Ronald Reagan’s 1986 bon mot about the nine most terrifying words in the English language, I would have much more confidence in my doctor giving me their best professional advice without a nanny state as a controlling third party in the relationship.

Conversely, the Queensland bill may be our Stalingrad moment, our line in the sand, if I may mix my metaphor about a place that is synonymous with deep snow. If most Australians remain apathetic to this level of state control and not enough doctors say: “Thus far but no further,” then we will surely cross over into the Age of Dystopia.

Hurricane Ian Annihilates Biden’s Green Agenda: Electric Vehicles ‘Spontaneously Combust Along Florida’s Roadways’

By Dr. Rich Swier

Biden and his Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg have made it their sole mission to “go green” by eliminating every vehicle in America that uses fossil fuels and replace them with all electric vehicles (EVs). Buttigieg even called for a “nationwide ban on gas cars.”

Well, it’s ironic that Hurricane Ian showed just how dangerous and wrong headed this policy truly is.

Watch this report from Fox 35 in Orlando, Florida:

Fox 35 reported,

A top Florida state official warned Thursday that firefighters have battled a number of fires caused by electric vehicle (EV) batteries waterlogged from Hurricane Ian.

EV batteries that have been waterlogged in the wake of the hurricane are at risk of corrosion, which could lead to unexpected fires, according to Jimmy Patronis, the state’s top financial officer and fire marshal.

“There’s a ton of EVs disabled from Ian. As those batteries corrode, fires start,” Patronis tweeted Thursday. “That’s a new challenge that our firefighters haven’t faced before. At least on this kind of scale.”

“It takes special training and understanding of EVs to ensure these fires are put out quickly and safely,” he continued in a follow-up tweet. “Thanks to [North Collier Fire Rescue] for their hard work.”

In another report the Washington Post in an article titled A Tesla was in a junkyard for three weeks. Then it burst into flames by noted,

A white Tesla Model S was sitting in a Rancho Cordova, Calif., wrecking yard earlier this month — having been severely damaged in a collision three weeks earlier — when it suddenly erupted in flames.

When firefighters arrived, the electric car was engulfed, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District. Every time the blaze was momentarily extinguished, the car’s battery compartment reignited, the fire department wrote in an Instagram post. Firefighters and wrecking yard workers tried turning the car on its side to aim water directly onto the battery pack. But “the vehicle would still re-ignite due to the residual heat,” the department wrote.

So they tried something else: They used a tractor to create a pit in the dirt, managed to get the car inside, then filled the hole with water. That allowed the firefighters to submerge the battery pack and ultimately extinguish the fire, which burned hotter than 3,000 degrees, Capt. Parker Wilbourn, a fire department spokesman, told The Washington Post.

Biden Regime Negotiating With Dictatorship Venezuela For Oil, Refuses To Negotiate With Texas, North Dakota, Oklahoma & Other Oil Producing States

By The Geller Report

Treason: the crime of betraying one’s country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government.

One has to wonder what catastrophic event has to occur for the American people to finally see that the Democrat party is the enemy of the people that seeks our utter destruction.

Clearly, consumers of the Democrat-media-axis media are deceiving the public. But how long can one avoid reality?

U.S. Looks to Ease Venezuela Sanctions, Enabling Chevron to Pump Oil

Engaging Venezuela could serve as a longer-term strategy for the U.S. and European countries trying to secure new energy sources.

By Patricia Garip, Vivian Salama and Kejal Vyas, Wall Street Journal, Oct. 5, 2022:

The Biden administration is preparing to scale down sanctions on Venezuela’s authoritarian regime to allow Chevron Corp. CVX 1.72% to resume pumping oil there, paving the way for a potential reopening of U.S. and European markets to oil exports from Venezuela, according to people familiar with the proposal.

In exchange for the significant sanctions relief, the government of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro would resume long-suspended talks with the country’s opposition to discuss conditions needed to hold free and fair presidential elections in 2024, the people said. The U.S., Venezuela’s government and some Venezuelan opposition figures have also worked out a deal that would free up hundreds of millions of dollars in Venezuelan state funds frozen in American banks to pay for imports of food, medicine and equipment for the country’s battered electricity grid and municipal water systems.

NATO Asserts Sabotage in Damage to Nord Stream Pipelines thumbnail

NATO Asserts Sabotage in Damage to Nord Stream Pipelines

By Center For Security Policy

Using a language, tone, and tenor not seen in many years, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) released a statement on the damage to the Nord Stream pipelines in the Baltic Sea. In the release, NATO cites that willful sabotage was the likely cause, but didn’t affix blame on a nation or group. Voice of America added the interpretation that NATO “vowed retaliation” over this episode.

The situation is fraught with questions of motive, intent, and capability of the perpetrators. Much of this evolving situation doesn’t make sense, and more must be revealed to fully understand the who, how, and why of this dramatic event.

The Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines have been prominently in the news since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine. Inexplicably, Europe continues to consume vast quantities of Russian gas and oil, while reducing their domestic energy options and declining to seek expanded energy options from the United States.

The Nord Stream pipelines are the most efficient and direct ways for Russia to provide gas to Germany. Nord Stream 1 has been in operation since 2011. Nord Stream 2, which doubles the capacity, was subject to opposition from the Trump administration, while the Biden administration caused considerable confusion by waiving sanctions against this pipeline in May 2021. As the Ukrainian conflict began to develop in February, President Joe Biden made comments about stopping Nord Stream 2 if necessary.

Tremors Detected

The breaks in the two pipelines (now apparently at four locations) appear to be to the southeast and northeast of Bornholm, a Danish island to the east of Denmark, in between Sweden and Poland, and at the point where both pipelines turn to the southwest in their final run to Germany.

The force of each blast that is thought to have damaged the pipelines was estimated at more than 1,000 pounds of explosives, based on seismic readings. For comparative purposes, that’s the equivalent of four large aircraft-dropped bombs (which is likely beyond the ability of scuba divers to transport and place).

The waters where the breaks occurred appear to be in the 200- to 300-foot range. The depths of the last leg of the pipelines as they turn toward Germany from Bornholm are much shallower, and the preponderance of the Baltic Sea traffic transiting the area seems to run on the north/northwest side of Bornholm, according to the Baltic Sea traffic system.

Remotely operated undersea drones have become routine for any construction, inspection, or recovery below shallow scuba depth. These are often deployed by nondescript, oceangoing work vessels to support commercial, scientific, or military projects.

The NATO statement cites that the attack was conducted against “critical infrastructure.” Another way to attack critical infrastructure is through the cyber domain. Cyber capabilities can often be projected through the remote maintenance monitoring equipment that’s normally part of most critical infrastructure. The ability to reach in and essentially destroy critical infrastructure through cyber methods was demonstrated in the Stuxnet attack on the Iranian nuclear efforts.

Recent Surge of NATO Naval Presence in Baltics

Recently (in August and September), the USS Kearsarge amphibious ready group (ARG) was in the Baltic Sea. This naval task force conducted operations with Finnish forces and visited the three Baltic countries of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Then, the Kearsarge ARG conducted training with Swedish military units, and it just recently exited the Baltic, going right past Bornholm and the area of the sabotage, and appears to currently be somewhere around Great Britain.

The USS Kearsarge is essentially a medium-sized aircraft carrier, in other words, a very large warship. The Russians have a large enclave in Kaliningrad on the Baltic coast (between Poland and Lithuania) and come to high alert when NATO surges resources in the Baltic.

Kaliningrad has been held by the Russians since the end of World War II. The Russians consider this enclave both sacred (they have vowed to always occupy this cut-off region due to the perception that this is the historic birthplace of Prussianism) as well as strategic, and they allegedly keep nuclear missiles here, a sore point with NATO.

The Russians become agitated whenever NATO projects military forces around Kaliningrad. The NATO surge of forces, essentially simultaneously with the Nord Stream attacks, adds to the questions around this episode.

There are clearly more questions than answers now, and more are likely to emerge from the high-stakes drama unfolding in the Baltic.

Leftist Hit Pieces Showcase Committee For A Constructive Tomorrow’s Effectiveness thumbnail

Leftist Hit Pieces Showcase Committee For A Constructive Tomorrow’s Effectiveness

By Committee For A Constructive Tomorrow

CFACT’s Marc Morano has been on fire lately.

Over the past few months, Morano has appeared on TV countless times to expose and debunk the radical climate agenda. Morano has been on Tucker Carlson, Newsmax TV, Fox and Friends, the Mark Steyn show, Unfiltered with Dan Bongino, One America News, and TBN. His reporting has also been referenced in the New York Sun, the Washington Times, the Epoch TimesEagle Forum, and more.

And now, he’s published a new book titled “The Great Reset: Global Elites and the Permanent Lockdown.” You can get your copy now on the CFACT store here.

No wonder the Left can’t stand him.

In fact, the Left is so riled up by Marc’s hard-hitting reporting that they’ve ran six hit pieces referencing Morano since July.

Media Matters called Morano a “notorious climate denier” and a “proponent of the Great Reset conspiracy theory.” Then later, they list Morano as one of the “high-profile climate skeptics” using “fearmongering” on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance).

Daily Kos, another liberal outlet, seems to have a love-hate relationship with CFACT’s chief climate debunker.

They say Morano is someone who is pushing “climate lockdown conspiracies,” but Daily Kos can’t get enough of Morano, as they reference him in four articles over the last couple months.

As the Mariah Carey song goes, “Why you so obsessed with me?”

It seems that it’s not Morano that needs “conspiracy theories” to stay relevant – rather, its Daily Kos that needs Marc Morano!

For CFACT’s part, we’re proud of the incredible work Morano is doing in exposing the agendas of the radical Left.

That’s why we’ve added Marc’s new “Great Reset” book to the CFACT store. Make sure to grab your copy now before it’s sold out!

CFACT will continue to work to expose those assaulting freedom, sound science, and free markets.

As for the liberal media outlets, they can keep on hemming and hawing all they want. It just shows us we’re making an impact!

For nature and people too!

No Increase in Hurricane Frequency or Intensity thumbnail

No Increase in Hurricane Frequency or Intensity

By Committee For A Constructive Tomorrow

Hurricane Ian came ashore in Florida like a runaway freight train, reaching CAT4 strength, with 150 mph wind speeds as it made landfall.

Ian was devastating, but completely within the bounds of natural variability.

The media, however, can’t help themselves.  Marc Morano listed a bevy of shameless media exaggerations at Climate Depot.

The Financial Times: “hurricane frequency is on the rise,” NYT: “strong storms becoming more common,” Washington Post: “climate change is rapidly fueling super hurricanes,”

ABC: “here’s how climate change intensifies hurricanes.”   All of this is blatantly false.

Just take a look at the graphs above.  There is no significant trend in all hurricanes, or major hurricanes making landfall in the United States.  The data led the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to conclude “there is essentially no long-term trend in hurricane counts.”

Michael Shellenberger posted a devastating takedown at his Substack in which he goes so far as to charge that media producers and editors know full well that global warming has not caused hurricanes to increase, and are deliberately misleading the public by asserting that it is.

Ace forecasters Joe D’Aleo and Joe Bastardi have been publishing the cold hard facts which debunk the hurricane as climate myth.  Bastardi points out, for instance, that “there were SIX hurricanes that hit the Southern part of Florida, below a line from Tampa to Cape Canaveral on the Atlantic in the last 57 years. If you look at the prior 50 years, there were SIXTEEN strikes!”

Indeed, Bastardi predicted such a hurricane was coming even before it appeared, and that the Greens would use it to push their climate alarmist narrative.

Hurricane Ian caused genuine human pain, suffering and loss of life.

Exploiting this natural disaster to push a false climate narrative is shameful.

OPEC Ignores Biden’s Pleas, Decides To Cut Oil Production thumbnail

OPEC Ignores Biden’s Pleas, Decides To Cut Oil Production

By The Daily Caller

OPEC+, which includes the 15 OPEC members and the consortium’s Russian-led allies, voted Wednesday to cut oil production by 2 million barrels per day even though the White House urged the group to pump more oil, according to Bloomberg.

OPEC and its Russian-led allies will reduce crude oil production as they are concerned that oil demand will fall as the world enters a recession, Bloomberg reported. President Joe Biden’s senior officials have been attempting to pressure OPEC into voting against a production cut as the White House would consider this to be a “hostile act,” CNN reported on Wednesday.

The administration was “panicking” over OPEC’s potential to cut production as it is concerned that gas prices may continue to rise and hurt the Democrats’ chances in the November midterm elections, according to CNN. The White House aggressively lobbied Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and other OPEC members to vote against cutting oil production; however, its efforts failed as OPEC+ wants to keep oil prices steady by reducing global supply ahead of winter, according to Bloomberg.

The Brent crude oil benchmark sits at $93 a barrel on Wednesday after peaking at over $120 a barrel in March. An oil price hike could further exacerbate the West’s fuel shortages which are causing household electricity bills and gas prices to skyrocket.

OPEC+ agreed to a small production boost in August after Biden visited Saudi Arabia and asked the OPEC member to pump more oil during a visit to the nation, according to The Washington Post. Biden was also rebuffed by OPEC after he asked its Middle Eastern members to produce more oil in May.

OPEC and the White House did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

Bald, Golden Eagle Deaths Permitted Under New U.S. Wind Energy, Power Line Rules thumbnail

Bald, Golden Eagle Deaths Permitted Under New U.S. Wind Energy, Power Line Rules

By The Geller Report

How many pipelines and energy projects were stopped dead in their tracks over some innocuous environmental concern or obscure fish “endangerment.”

The Biden administration has proposed a new permitting program for wind energy turbines, power lines and other projects that kill eagles, amid growing concern among scientists that the rapid expansion of renewable energy in the U.S. West could harm golden eagle populations now teetering on decline.

The Fish and Wildlife Service program announced Thursday is meant to encourage companies to work with officials to minimize harm to golden and bald eagles.

It’s also aimed at avoiding any slowdown in the growth of wind power as an alternative to carbon-emitting fossil fuels — a key piece of President Joe Biden’s climate agenda. It comes after several major utilities have been federally prosecuted in recent years for killing large numbers of eagles without permits.

The federal government already issues permits to kill eagles. But Thursday’s proposal calls for new permits tailored to wind-energy projects, power line networks and the disturbance of breeding bald eagles and bald eagle nests.

Fish and Wildlife Service Director Martha Williams said the new program would provide “multiple pathways to obtain a permit” while also helping conserve eagles, which she described as a key responsibility for the agency.

Bald eagle numbers have quadrupled since 2009 to about 350,000 birds. There are only about about 40,000 golden eagles, which need much larger areas to survive and are more inclined to have trouble with humans.

The number of wind turbines nationwide more than doubled over the past decade to almost 72,000, according to U.S. Geological Survey data, with development overlapping prime golden eagle territory in states including Wyoming, Montana, California, Washington and Oregon.

In April, a subsidiary of the Florida-based utility industry giant NextEra Energy pleaded guilty in federal court in Wyoming to criminal violations of wildlife protection laws after its wind turbines killed more than 100 golden eagles in eight states. It was the third conviction of a major wind company for killing eagles in a decade.

Federal officials won’t divulge how many eagles are reported killed by wind farms, saying it’s sensitive law enforcement information.

Nationwide, 34 permits in place last year authorized companies to “take” 170 golden eagles — meaning that many birds could be killed by turbines or lost through impacts on nests or habitat, according to permitting data obtained by The Associated Press. More than 200 permits were in place to allow the killing of 420 bald eagles, according to the data.

For each loss, companies are responsible for ensuring at least one eagle death is avoided somewhere else.

Illegal shootings are the biggest cause of death for golden eagles, killing about 700 annually, according to federal estimates. More than 600 die annually in collisions with cars, wind turbines and power lines; about 500 annually are electrocuted; and more than 400 are poisoned.

UN Declares: ‘We own the science’ & ‘the world should know it’

The United Nations revealed that they “own the science” of climate change and they have manipulated Google search results to suppress any climate view that deviates from UN claims. Melissa Fleming, the Under-Secretary for Global Communications at the United Nations made the remarks at a World Economic Forum ‘Tackling Disinformation’ event on September 29, 2022 titled “Sustainable Development Impact Meetings 2022.”

Melissa Fleming:  (Full Video“We partnered with Google. For example, if you Google ‘climate change,’ you will, at the top of your search, you will get all kinds of UN resources. We started this partnership when we were shocked to see that when we Googled ‘climate change,’ we were getting incredibly distorted information right at the top. So we’re becoming much more proactive. We own the science, and we think that the world should know it, and the platforms themselves also do. But again, it’s a huge, huge challenge that I think all sectors of society need to be very active in.” (Full transcript here)

The UN, Anthony Fauci, and the WHO both claim to own “the science” of COVID and authoritarian mitigation measures like lockdowns.

See: Anthony Fauci: ‘I represent science’ “So it’s easy to criticize, but they’re really criticizing science, because I represent science,” he said. “That’s dangerous.” & Fauci: ‘Attacks On Me, Quite Frankly, Are Attacks On Science’

COVID tyranny is expanding. See:‘The Science’ is tyranny! Australia doctors warned they ‘are obliged to’ follow public health messages – Also warned against ‘authoring papers’ that contradict public health messaging– Now you know how ‘the science’ is created!

&

California passed a similar bill: Stanford’s Dr. Jay Bhattacharya April 12, 2022 excerpts: “A proposed California law threatens to make such dissent career-ending by handing the state the power to strip medical licenses from doctors who disagree with government positions on Covid.”

The WHO’s “science” is under the influence of Bill Gates. Bill Gates is 2nd largest donor to the WHO: Morano Great Reset book Excerpt:

The World Health Organization’s second-largest donor, behind the United States government, is (drumroll, please) . . . the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. According to the 2018 WHO financial report, while the U.S. government’s contribution was in the amount of more than $281 million, the Gates Foundation came in at over $228 million—out of the total $2.2 billion that made up the WHO annual budget. (Gates gave over $324 million to WHO in 2017.) The Gates Foundation contributed more to the WHO than many developed nations.

Bill Gates also lavishly funds the media. See:Bill Gates buys the media: ‘Pumps out tens of millions of dollars annually to pay for positive media’ – Morano’s The Great Reset book excerpt– The Great Reset book by Marc Morano: The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation pumps out tens of millions of dollars annually to pay for positive media. Media partnerships and sponsorships essentially buy slick public relations for Gates and his foundations.

Bill Gates is also a Covid Profiteer: See: Between March 18, 2020 (the beginning of COVID Mania) and May 4, 2022, Bill Gates experienced a wealth increase from $98 billion to $129.8 billion, driven in large part from his COVID-related “investments.”

“The science” is routinely manipulated to support policies the government and bureaucrats desire.

The following is an excerpt from Chapter 6 of The Great Reset: Global Elites and the Permanent Lockdown – By Marc Morano

Chapter 6 (page 133) How “The Science” Was Manipulated to Support Long-Desired Policies

Excerpt:    At this point, no researcher looking for government research money would put his name on a study that was against the politically accepted views on COVID lockdowns or mask mandates or climate-crisis claims. During the COVID-19 panic, public health bureaucrats, politicians, and media figures constantly invoked “The Science” when determining how hard and long to hammer the public with lockdowns and mandates. In reality the Great Reset was underway in 2020, with the promotion of authoritarian COVID-19 “mitigation” measures utilizing decades of corrupted “science.”

French President Emmanuel Macron warned that, because of COVID-19, “We must all limit the number of people with whom we’re in contact with every single day. Scientists say so.”

“Scientists say so.” But which scientists “say so”? And on what evidence do those scientists base what they say?

In the age of COVID lockdowns and mandates, a pending Green New Deal, and a Great Reset, an insight of renowned economist Thomas Sowell is more valuable than ever: “Experts are often called in, not to provide factual information or dispassionate analysis for the purpose of decision-making by responsible officials, but to give political cover for decisions already made and based on other considerations entirely.”

Another name for it—Science to support the policy.

As C. S. Lewis warned, “I dread specialists in power because they are specialists speaking outside their special subjects. Let scientists tell us about sciences. But government involves questions about the good for man, and justice, and what things are worth having at what price; and on these a scientific training gives a man’s opinion no added value.” Lewis was sounding the alarm against the kind of technocracy that we live under thanks to COVID—the control of society by an elite unelected cadre of experts.

BOX

‘Science Lost’

“There was a clash between two schools of thought, authoritarian public health versus science—and science lost.”

—renowned Stanford epidemiologist John Ioannidis, expressing his opposition to COVID lockdowns

Whenever they invoke “The Science,” you know something other than science is at play.

“A theory becomes The Science when a mitigation or solution to the theory becomes more important than the theory itself,” explained Dr. William M. Briggs, coauthor of The Price of Panic: How the Tyranny of Experts Turned a Pandemic into a Catastrophe. “This is, as mentioned, the Cult of Science. Members are easy to spot. Not only do they use phrases like ‘We believe in The Science’ and ‘Denier!’—has there ever been a clearer indication of religious intent than this one word?—but they all evince scientism, the false belief that knowing a (‘scientific’) fact implies morally what should be done about that fact,” Briggs pointed out.

“In plain science theory is made to fit Reality. In The Science this is flipped,” he added. “The Science has nothing to do with science and everything to do with solutions and mitigations.” Briggs detailed how “how the theory-Reality relationship is reversed” because the “elites benefit from mitigations.”

He demonstrated by a thought experiment how “The Science” is not real science. “Say you disbelieve the theory but support the mitigation, and you will be praised. But say you believe all the models of exponential ‘cases’ and deaths, but you don’t think lockdowns and mask mandates should be implemented, and you will be loathed,” Briggs wrote.

“Try it with any science that has become The Science. Accept the theory but reject its mitigation. You will very quickly learn The Science has nothing to do with science and everything to do with solutions and mitigations,” he added.

Eisenhower Warned Us

We were alerted about being ruled over by scientists and experts. In his 1961 Farewell Address, President Dwight D. Eisenhower bluntly warned of this danger.

Eisenhower explained that “a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity” and “the prospect of domination of the nation’s scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present and is gravely to be regarded.”

According to Eisenhower, “We must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.”

BOX

Soviet-Style Science

“Communists saw their political beliefs as so all-encompassing that even science was political: if science contradicted the goals of communism, it wasn’t science. In today’s United States the slow death of liberalism has resulted in the blatant politicisation of science, to the extent that as in Russia, scientists teach things which are obviously untrue because it supports the prevailing ideology. Then there is the media, much of which parrots the party line with almost embarrassing, ‘Comrade Stalin has driven pig iron to record production’ levels of conformity.” —Ed West, deputy editor, UnHerd

Before the CDC’s Dr. Anthony Fauci supported “The Science” in favor of lockdowns, he supported “The Science” against them. In 2014, Fauci opposed quarantines of health care workers in response to Ebola as “draconian” and warned of “unintended consequences.”

Fauci complained about the “unscientific” policies of a number of U.S. governors who had imposed a targeted quarantine on health care workers arriving from Ebola-infected regions. “We have to be careful that there are [not] unintended consequences,” Fauci said.

“We need to treat them, returning people with respect,” Fauci explained during the outbreak of Ebola in Africa.

“You can monitor them in multiple different ways. You don’t have to put them in a confined place,” Fauci added.

“Go with the science,” he said.

But then the coronavirus came along, and suddenly “The Science” said exactly the opposite.

Journalist Jordan summed up Fauci’s duplicity on quarantines: “As we’ve discovered, the 50-year tenured government health bureaucrat wasn’t always a fan of quarantines. As recently as 2014, he was emphatically against them. Has ‘the science’ changed that much in the last 6 years, or is something else afoot?”

BOX

Fauci: I am The Science

In 2021, Fauci declared that attacks on him are “attacks on science.” He claimed, “A lot of what you’re seeing as attacks on me, quite frankly, are attacks on science. If you are trying to get at me as a public health official and a scientist, you’re really attacking, not only Dr. Anthony Fauci, you’re attacking science.”

Maybe “Science” Is a Liberal Conspiracy

A bumper sticker promoted by progressives reads: “Science is not a liberal conspiracy.”

“Oh yes it is. Or, yes, it can be, and much of it is. And here is where that bumper sticker is wrong. When the regulatory state—i.e., the Environ- mental Protection Agency, the United Nations, the U.S. federal govern- ment—when they want to regulate, they look for justifications and causes, and that’s the natural state of any government. . . . So essentially the regulatory state is using the climate scare now to achieve its ends. . . . The science must support the government policy, and the network of government and academic funding peer-pressure is designed to ensure ‘The Science’ ends up supporting the politicians’ favored policy. Any dissenters have to face intimidation and censorship.” —Marc Morano in a 2019 interview

When you believe you are saving the world, the only science that matters is “The Science” that supports your preconceived political views.

‘We’re A Second Amendment State’: DeSantis Warns Off Prospective Ian Looters

By The Daily Caller

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issued a stern warning during a Friday press conference in Fort Myers to would-be looters in the wake of Hurricane Ian.

“I can tell you in the state of Florida, you never know what may be lurking behind somebody’s home,” the governor cautioned, according to Fox News.

“And I would not want to chance that if I were you — given that we’re a Second Amendment state.”

DeSantis warned against taking advantage of vulnerable people in areas hit hardest by Ian’s destruction. “We want to make sure we’re maintaining law and order,” he said. Local law enforcement remains involved in monitoring any and all looting and state assistance could be called on for help, DeSantis noted further. One sign reading, “You loot, we shoot” was spotted by the governor in Punta Gorda, Fox News reported.

The Category 4 storm left more than 2 million without power after making landfall Wednesday. Flooding hit Fort Myers, Florida particularly hard, where looters were arrested Friday on Fort Myers Beach, according to ABC 3. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office expressed a zero tolerance stance on looting, promising to arrest any involved in criminal activity, the outlet said.

“We are not going to look like Chicago or New York where we’re letting people out in 24 hours so they can go back and loot another home,” tweeted Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody in response to reports of looting. “That will not be tolerated here.”

Hurricanes Aren’t The Only Thing Climate Alarmists Lie About

By John Eidson

How can climate alarmists explain away ancient megadroughts? They can’t!

As reported by Fox News, a 2015 study published in the journal Nature Climate Change compared 117 computer model projections during the 1990s with the amount of warming that actually occurred. Of the 117 projections, only three were roughly accurate. On average, the computer models predicted twice as much warming as that which actually occurred. The projections wildly overestimated global warming, so much so that it’s hard not to suspect that something fishy may have been behind the lopsided results.

Amid a relentless drumbeat of global warming hysteria dating to the early 1980s, NASA data showed that the period Feb. 2016 – Feb. 2018 was the greatest two-year cooling event of the last 100 years. So at least for that two-year period, apocalyptic forecasts of climate doom weren’t just wide of the plate; they weren’t even in the ball park.

Another indication that global warming forecasts have been embarrassingly off base was reported in the UK Express, which ran a story in 2018 with the headline “Climate change is ‘not as bad as we thought’ say scientists,” followed by the subheadline “Climate change is likely to be markedly less severe than forecast, study claims.”

For four decades and running, a virtually endless trail of horrifying predictions of imminent climate collapse has been trumpeted by an unquestioning western media. But despite the alarm bells, not one of those Chicken Little predictions has been on target, which brings me to the dire prediction described below.

“Risk of megadrought in southwestern U.S. could exceed 99%”

In 2015, California and much of the southwestern U.S. was in the final stage of a severe four-year drought. The same year, a terrifying study published in Science Advances forecast that man-caused climate change is making a catastrophic megadrought in the region a virtual certainty before the end of the century.

According to the study’s authors, the risk of a megadrought could exceed 99 percent. “This will be worse than anything seen during the last 2,000 years and would pose unprecedented challenges to water resources in the region,” said Toby Ault, a professor of earth sciences at Cornell University and one of the authors of the study. He continued, “As we add greenhouse gases into the atmosphere—and we haven’t put the brakes on stopping this—we are weighting the dice for megadrought conditions.”

I have a question for Professor Ault. But first, here’s an inconvenient piece of climate history which those who incite fear about droughts hope and pray voters will never discover:

Studies of tree rings, sediment and other natural evidence have documented multiple extreme droughts in the southwestern U.S. over the last 1,000+ years, including several which lasted more than twenty years—that’s FIVE TIMES longer than the relatively puny 4-year drought that hit California and other parts of the Desert Southwest in 2012-15.

Twenty years is a long time, but some past droughts in what is now the southwestern U.S. lasted even longer. Much longer.

One that began in the year 850 AD crawled on for a mind-boggling 240 years, and that megadrought occurred more than a thousand years before the climate fear industry dreamed up the man-made global warming theory in the early 1980s. According to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the drought of 850 was so severe that it led to the demise of an entire civilization—the Mayan Empire. And that drought wasn’t alone. Fifty years before it began, another megadrought, one which lasted 180 years, was just winding down.

With that bit of climate history in mind, here’s my question for Professor Ault: What caused  those megadroughts?

The professor and his co-authors know the answer, but don’t want you to know. They certainly can’t blame megadroughts of the last 1,000 years on the Industrial Revolution, which didn’t begin in earnest until the 1800s, a full millennium after those severe droughts wreaked havoc on what is now the southwestern U.S. and parts of what is now Mexico. Since they can’t scapegoat man’s use of fossil fuels for having caused those ancient environmental calamities, how do they and their allies in the climate fear industry hope to frighten you with the specter of an “unprecedented” megadrought that could be “99% certain”? They pray you will never learn about Earth’s climate history, that’s how.

Earth’s climate history is no friend of global warming fearmongers

Absent historical context, extreme weather can be overhyped in ways that lead the uninformed to conclude that unpleasant things like severe droughts never happened before humans began using fossil fuels. In fact, extreme climate events have occurred with monotonous regularity for a long, long time.

According to the Nature Education Knowledge Project, Earth has had a climate going all the way back to the Archean Eon, from 3.9 billion to 2.5 billion years ago. Only God knows how many megadroughts occurred over that time. But whatever the number, it has to be off the chart. When the next one arrives—and one most certainly will—Professor Ault will have been right about one thing: its cause will be Earth’s ever-changing climate, the same vexing culprit which caused the megadrought of 850 AD and 100% of the multitude of other seemingly endless droughts which have plagued the planet since time immemorial. Professor Ault’s prediction that greenhouse gases will be to blame for the next one is speculation based on what likely will be yet another in a long line of dire “studies” that left egg on the face of its authors.

In my Canada Free Press article “Green is the new Red,’ I explain why I believe beyond a shadow of doubt that global warming alarmism is the most brazen scientific hoax the world has ever seen.
