Renowned Epidemiologist Aids St. Michael Academy’s Challenge of Michigan’s Lockdown

St. Michael Academy, a small private independent Catholic high school located in Petoskey, Michigan has a total of 30 high school students.  St. Michael is challenging Michigan’s current MDHHS order which has shut down in-person instruction at high schools across the state on the bogus claim that it is “following the science.”  Citing to the recent Roman Catholic Diocese opinion by the U.S. Supreme Court that observes, “even in a pandemic the Constitution cannot be put away and forgotten,” the Thomas More Law Center (“TMLC”), a nonprofit public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, filed a lawsuit on behalf of St. Michael late Friday in the federal district court for the Western District of Michigan.
In an astonishing turn of events, St. Michael was able to enlist the support of a world-renowned epidemiologist and expert on the spread of COVID-19, Dr. Jayanta Bhattacharya, a Professor of Medicine at Stanford University. Dr. Bhattacharya is an author of 136 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has provided testimony relating to COVID-19 to both federal and state governmental bodies. He is assisting St. Michael Academy without charge, as is the Law Center.
Dr. Bhattacharya has already filed an affidavit in the case. He points out that MDHHS’s orders shutting down schools to in-person instruction are inconsistent with the best scientific evidence regarding the safety of students and the guidelines provided by the World Health Organization. Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases, supports the WHO guidelines.
Moreover, Dr. Bhattacharya, citing to July guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control, warns that prohibiting in-person instruction potentially causes tremendous damage to students, including: severe learning loss, widening disparities in educational outcomes, hampered development of social and emotional skills, potential harm to mental health, exposure to heightened risk of maltreatment and abuse at home, nutritional deprivation of poor children, and a sharp reduction in regular physical activity.
Dr. Richard A. Brake, the Headmaster of St. Michael Academy, is not only in charge of the academic and spiritual development of St. Michael students but also of the development and implementation of the Academy’s plans to keep its students safe from the COVID-19 virus. He and his staff kept up in-person instruction this school year, until the November 15, 2020 shutdown order was issued by the state. Thus far, St. Michael has not experienced any cases of COVID-19 among its students, faculty, or staff.
Dr. Brake believes that banning in-person instruction precludes the Academy from exercising its religious freedom to inculcate in its students the sense of awe and wonder about all of God’s creation, encouraging them to look beyond the temporal and mundane towards the eternal and transcendent. Education and formation at St. Michael Academy involve prayer, worship, devotional practices and the Socratic method. These are not effective when done remotely, with students looking at computer screens.
Richard Thompson, TMLC’s President, observed, “No one denies that slowing the COVID‑19 pandemic is a compelling state interest. But the U.S. Supreme Court’s November 25, 2020 decision in Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn v Cuomo held that, even so, where a state’s COVID-19 mitigation law burdens religious exercise and is not neutral, as in our case, states must narrowly tailor their edicts to meet the state interest in the least restrictive manner. The State of Michigan cannot suspend a fundamental right of the people to the free exercise of religion protected by the First Amendment.”
Thompson added, “And based on the scientific evidence that very few children under the age of 19 suffer or die as a result of COVID-19 infection, and rarely transmit the virus to other children or adults, weighed against all the negative ramifications of keeping children home, the state cannot meet the ‘strict scrutiny’ test which demands that it address its interests by the least restrictive means. Experts like the CDC Director are now saying that one of the safest places for students during this pandemic is in school.”

The teachings and practices of Islam that Biden doesn’t want you to know about

During the recent presidential election campaign, Democratic nominee Joe Biden expressed his desire that Islam be taught in American schools so that students would learn about this “religion of peace.”
On another occasion, he even cited a Hadith of Muhammad in which the Prophet of Islam explicitly promoted acts of violence against anything or anyone who would oppose his teachings.
Nevertheless, Biden should not be held accountable for this, because ignorance for him is bliss. But such statements towards the Islamic groups that stand behind him, and from whom he has been receiving advice and talking points.
Among these organizations is the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which is known for its links to the Muslim Brotherhood (a group that is banned or restricted in many countries in the Arab world) and support for the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas.
It is worth noting that both Muslim congresswomen, Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar, have been relentlessly working to influence public opinion regarding the image of Islam, and to camouflage it with a modern civilized appearance. One of their main objectives has been to counter the narrative regarding certain negative Islamic practices, notably the poor treatment of Muslim women, who are deprived of their basic rights and freedom.
The fact that two Muslim women act so independently, at least while campaigning in public, gives a positive impression that contrasts with the image of women in Islamic societies, who are oppressed and their rights violated as a result of the teachings of Islam.
Watch this video on the Million Muslims Vote campaign:

Another influential group is the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), which created, during the Democratic party primaries, the “2020 Muslim Voter Guide to help Muslims “cast an informed and principled vote in the presidential primaries.”
It also provided detailed information about the number of Muslim advisors for the major candidates and the positions they held within the campaign.
MPAC is also known for its attempts to sway policies affecting Muslims worldwide and to provide Islamic perspectives on many topics inside the United States.
It is known to be heavily involved in trying to change the narrative about Muslim people in this country. It has also been known also for its attempts to reach out to media personnel to explain its vision of Islam and Muslims. It has over the last few years shifted its focus from media efforts to advance its agenda by defending Islamic viewpoints on political and social issues to work inside political lobbies in the Democratic party.
To preserve American values in the face of this campaign that seeks to penetrate communities and dictate teachings and terms, it is the duty of all to speak out rather than to remain silent and thus become complicit in this charade. The reality of Islam should be exposed, including its bloody and immoral teachings.
This video discusses how sexual intercourse with a dead body (necrophilia) is allowed in Islam, adding that it was practiced by the Islamic prophet Muhammad himself. This is mentioned in many of the Hadiths, which are documented in books of Islam.

The right for the husband to have sex with his deceased wife was reportedly discussed in the Egyptian Parliament, which according to some reports discussed a law that would allow a husband to have sex with his deceased wife within the first six hours of her death. Some denied this bill ever existed, but here is proof that it did:

Luckily, the bill did not pass, which also sparked discussions about the people who find themselves walking away from Islam due to these grotesque and savage teachings.
If Biden’s goal is to teach the students about Islam in the schools so that they do not fall victim to these immoral teachings, the federal government should help states’ educational departments add Islam as an elective class to make students aware of these evil teachings.
But instead, those who stand behind Biden on this topic hope to impose an Islamic indoctrination based on the teachings of the Muslim Brotherhood. By any possible means, they seek to enlist the aid of Islamic apologists and weaken the voices of those who can properly debate Islam and speak about its teachings accurately.
Their strategy to cover up for Islam is to pass laws at the UN and other arenas to prohibit the criticism of Islam and silence those who can truthfully debate Islam. The use of the false notion of “Islamophobia” while simultaneously unleashing voices that propagate Islam as a religion of peace is essential to putting that plan in motion.
Biden does not know that some of his Muslim allies yearn to convert public platforms into minarets that praise Islam as a religion of tolerance, while incriminating and silencing anyone who tries to reveal its bloody and immoral nature.
These relentless efforts by Muslim groups in America are part of their efforts to dictate how the discussion about Islam in the U.S. should be conducted, in line with the old proverb, “The one who speaks alone is always right.”

“I lost count of how many men I was forced to have sex with.”
Close to a million British non-Muslim tweens and tweens were treated with the same callous scorn and inhumanity in the cause of sharia and “islamophobia sensitivity”.

CAIR Offers Office Space to Islamic Group Kicked Out of France

French organization deemed an ‘enemy of the French Republic.’

On December 4, 2020, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) announced on its website that it had offered office space in its Capitol Hill headquarters to the French NGO Collective Against Islamophobia in France (CCIF), stating that French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin had “falsely accused” the organization of “spreading Islamist propaganda.”
What are the facts behind this announcement?
In October 2020 Darmanin announced that 51 Islamic organizations would be closed down, including the CCIF, which he described as an “enemy of the French Republic” with links to the Muslim Brotherhood. The justification for the decision was that these organizations have terrorist sympathies, promote religious and identity-driven hatred and are a threat to public order.
The CCIF had been accused of complicity in the beheading of schoolteacher Samuel Paty by an 18-year-old Chechen jihadist. Member of Parliament Aurore Bergé declared that the CCIF “provided legal support to those who lynched the teacher” on social media.  The CCIF rejected the allegation, stating that the father who published a video describing Paty as a thug had merely contacted them seeking support but that the CCIF had not taken any action in the matter.
Former CCIF director Marwan Muhammad told a reporter from the Parisien newspaper that he was “astounded” by the government decision and advanced two possible explanations. First, that the government was seeking to attract right-wing voters, and second, due to animosity toward human rights NGOs because they highlighted the inability of the state to defend minorities.
The CCIF was set up in November 2003 by Samy Debah, a former preacher of Tablighi Jaamat, the global Sunni Islamic revivalist movement, after the French parliament banned the hijab in schools. The association claims to be non-denominational and dedicated to combating “all actions or words directed at an individual linked in a real or supposed manner to Islam.”
Although it denies being associated with any political, religious or ideological groups, Marwan Muhammad shared platforms with radical Islamists such as Imam Hassen Bounamcha and Salafist preachers Nader Abou Anas and Rachid Abou Houdeyfa.
Campaigning under the slogan “Islamophobia is not an opinion, it’s a crime,” the group’s principal mission is to file criminal lawsuits against “Islamophobes.” The organization regularly sues journalists who write on the subject of political Islam.
In 2014, the CCIF secured a conviction against the secular website Riposte Laïque. In 2015, Ivan Rioufol, senior journalist at the Figaro newspaper, was acquitted by the Paris Criminal Court in a defamation case brought by the CCIF. However, the acquittal was not necessarily a defeat, since their strategy is to muzzle critics of political Islam using the threat of lengthy and costly lawsuits.
In 2016, the CCIF filed another complaint for incitement to racial hatred against Georges Bensoussan, an expert on 19th and 20th-century European cultural history. Bensoussan was a high-value target due to a book he edited in 2002 called The Lost Territories of the French Republic, a collection of essays that documented the wave of violence, Islamism and antisemitism sweeping through schools in the suburbs of French cities.
Bensoussan was acquitted by the French Supreme Court in 2019. In 2016, the CCIF targeted Laurence Rossignol, Minister for Family, Children and Women’s Rights, for criticizing Muslim women who wear burkas.
The CCIF is regularly accused of using religion for political ends. In 2019 during a nationwide demonstration against “Islamophobia,” Marwan Muhammad shouted “Allahu Akbar!” to a cheering crowd.
Political scientist and former contributor to the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo Fiammetta Venner told the Parisien that the CCIF plays a role in facilitating terror attacks by identifying targets, providing a rationale and a methodology. She added that describing someone or an organization as “Islamophobic” is the equivalent of a death sentence.
Charlie Hebdo received that sentence, and in 2015 was the recipient of an Islamist terror attack that left 12 staff members dead and 11 wounded.
In a written response to a French Senate inquiry in 2019, CCIF director Jawad Bachare denied any link to the Muslim Brotherhood, saying,

There is no connection. Our detractors accuse us of promoting political Islam, a term that has no substance other than to discredit our work. Our history and activities are well documented and we will continue to highlight the discrimination and violence endured by Muslims in France and take legal action to restore their rights.”

On November 27, the CCIF published a final statement on its website indicating it had made contingency plans to continue its activities outside France, thereby emptying the French government measure of its substance.

“As we announced on October 26, the CCIF has activated a major plan to deploy a large portion of its activities abroad. As a result, the dissolution notice received on November 19 was not applicable, as the CCIF no longer exists as a structure. The various actions that are still being implemented are merely related to the liquidation procedure. The transfer and/or the closing of CCIF’s files will take the necessary time.
“For more than a week now, we have been responding to the various grievances we have been accused of in the notice of dissolution, and we have demonstrated that it was based on unfounded, biased or misleading elements. Worse: we are globally reproached for doing our legal work, applying the law and demanding its application when it is questioned.
“As we notified the Minister of Interior on Thursday, November 26, our Board of Directors pronounced the voluntary dissolution of the CCIF on October 29. The assets of our association have been transferred to partner associations that will take over the fight against Islamophobia at the European level.
“Our communication tools will be closed in less than 24 hours. We will offer our members, partners, supporters and followers the possibility to get in touch with our new partner associations that will take up the fight against Islamophobia.”

This tells us that the battle against political Islam must be conducted at a European and even trans-Atlantic level.
One thing we can conclude is that CAIR’s generous offer would most likely not be given to an organization that was not like-minded.
For more information on CAIR’s history of intimidation and silencing through the use of lawfare, see Clarion’s interview with Deborah Weiss, Esq., the primary researcher and writer of the book The Council on American-Islamic Relations: Its Use of Lawfare and Intimidation, published by Citizens for National Security.

China’s Facial Recognition AI Targeting Uighurs IS The Gestapo

We’re hearing Gestapo thrown around a lot lately. It’s almost as though the legions of easily-propagandized ignorants wore out the constant mis-use of Nazi, Fascist and Hitler. Most of the Gestapo iterations of this are complete nonsense.
Most. Not all. The Chinese Communist government’s police state apparatus is the modern day equivalent of the Gestapo. A report leaked to the Washington Post shows that the Chinese Communist government has tested, and is presumably using, AI facial recognition software developed by Huawei to identify the Muslim ethnic minority of Uighurs and alert police — read, Gestapo. The Post story reports:

“The Chinese tech giant Huawei has tested facial recognition software that could send automated “Uighur alarms” to government authorities when its camera systems identify members of the oppressed minority group, according to an internal document that provides further details about China’s artificial-intelligence surveillance regime.
“A document signed by Huawei representatives — discovered by the research organization IPVM and shared exclusively with The Washington Post — shows that the telecommunications firm worked in 2018 with the facial recognition start-up Megvii to test an artificial-intelligence camera system that could scan faces in a crowd and estimate each person’s age, sex and ethnicity. If the system detected the face of a member of the mostly Muslim minority group, the test report said, it could trigger a ‘Uighur alarm’ — potentially flagging them for police in China, where members of the group have been detained en masse as part of a brutal government crackdown.”

Make no mistake. This is a high-tech yellow star, except instead of being physically pinned on Jews, it is digitally affixed to Uighurs — or those unfortunate enough to look Uighur. The Chinese government is on a determined genocidal mission to exterminate this minority as it continues to boot stomp other minorities and dissenters. The Chinese government is, at this point, the largest source of organized evil actions in the world.
President Trump broke with 40 years of American acquiescence to Chinese cruelty, expansionism, technology and patent theft, trade cheating and spying on U.S. companies and governments, all in return for cheap manufacturing labor. It had been a Faustian bargain for the U.S., particularly middle class, blue collar workers, innovators and patent-holders. Americans and the rest of the world had been paying for it.
Trump was right to call out China, launch the trade wars that were bearing the fruit of better deals, push back on the expansionism and cut Huawei out of providing the U.S. 5G hardware. This latest revelation could hardly have made it more clear. He also unapologetically referred to them as Communists, which they are in repressive actions on a par with the Soviets.
But it looks like Trump will be leaving the White House and his successor, Joe Biden, has a frighteningly comfortable history dealing with the Chinese and quite possibly personally profiting from doing it. Biden has said he believes that a stronger China is good for the world — a mind-numbingly naive, or corrupt, take on this tyranny — and intends to roll back many of Trump’s policies dealing with this international scourge.
You can almost picture a mildly clueless Joe Biden standing in for another mildy clueless Western leader, Neville Chamberlain. After meeting with Herr Hitler in 1939, Chamberlain/Biden waive a piece of paper declaring peace in our times. It was a rueful mistake then, and it is a rueful one now. The devil’s due is frightful to consider.
There had been some bipartisan support developing for stronger dealings with China than pre-Trump, but given the level of Trump animosity that has left much of American progressivism incapable of rational thought, and Biden’s predilection to go soft on the Beijing killers, there is a real threat that once again they will be loosed.
An aggressively expansionist, spying everywhere China and a nuclearized Iran — another distinct possibility under Biden unless Israel militarily intervenes — would create a much more dangerous world than Biden is inheriting from Trump.

VIDEO: The Vortex — M&M’s

They all taste the same because they are the same.

TRANSCRIPT
Church Militant (a 501(c)4 corporation) is responsible for the content of this commentary.
Each day here at Church Militant, as part of our ongoing Novena to the Holy Spirit for Justice and our Rosary (also for justice in the nation), we pray for increased strength to fight two specific evils rampaging through the Church and the culture — modernism and Marxism.
And, understand, these two are little else than different sides of the same coin, intimately connected. One does its damage in the theological realm, the other in the secular realm, but they are both moving to the same goal. That goal is the de-spiritualization of man, the reducing of human dignity to being merely a servant of the State.
This is why the Church must be “merged” with the State: To present the facade of some spiritual aspect or dynamic to the assault on human dignity (which is, of course, ultimately from God since we are made in his image and likeness). Modernism and Marxism are like M&M’s candy — peanut or plain — slightly different looking on the outside, although still very close in appearance, on the inside, they are identical.
You can’t tell the difference once you’ve popped them into your mouth, and that’s because there is no difference. Under that thin candy veneer, every one is identical to every other one in the pack, just like modernism and Marxism. This is why the Marxist cardinals in the Church, not to mention bishops and priests, are so enthralled with modernism.
Likewise, this is why the modernist cardinals in the Church — not to mention bishops and priests — are so enthralled with Marxism. It’s why when you go to Mass and there is a modernist priest blathering on, he hits all the Marxist talking points about immigration and climate change and the rest of the lies from the Left.
Listen closely sometimes to the prayers of the faithful, which half the time aren’t really prayers and which seldom reflect the ideas of the authentic faithful. Little in some of those prayers reflects anything related to authentic Catholicism but read like a Saul Alinsky introductory class on class warfare or racism.
Likewise, the Marxist media can’t stop themselves from having on modernist clergy for interviews (like James Martin). These aren’t just separate ideologies with some areas of overlap. They are the same ideologies with very slightly different ways of presenting themselves. Take off the robes and put on a suit and tie, and James Martin could run for office on the Democratic party ticket.
Likewise, slap a miter on Biden’s head and he could easily be Bishop Joe. They all talk the same, say the same things, talk about the same topics. Identical on the inside, very slightly different looking on the outside — just to make you think you’re getting something different. You aren’t.
This is why there is the rush on the part of bishops to go along with anything a government mandates, and in some cases (like the weirdo bishop in Ontario Canada’s London diocese, Ronald Fabbro) bishops are going way beyond even totalitarian governments’ COVID rules. He’s ordering parishes, meaning his priests, to set up what amounts to “snitch squads,” where ushers must refuse you entry into the Church for Mass if you don’t have a mask.
Ushers will be informed of your name and will be on the lookout for you. Likewise, Fabbro has ordered that a pencil and piece of paper be supplied at confessionals so after you have confessed, you can leave your name and number for contact tracing purposes. And no, we are not kidding.
That’s outrageous. But when it comes to weirdness around confession, Fabbro and his staff are refusing to reveal to Catholics in the diocese that a certain priest was excommunicated for breaking the seal of confession. Then, a few months later, blatantly in violation of canon law, Fabbro asked Rome to lift the excommunication without having fulfilled one of three requirements necessary before any lifting of the sentence could be done.
While Fabbro stomps around the diocese imposing dictatorial mandates on the flock, he conveniently — for more than a year — has kept to himself that one of his priests, at least, is not trustworthy in the confessional. But hey, just make sure you put down your name and address after confession, it makes it so much easier to break the seal that way.
And get this: Your information then goes into a sealed envelope and is given to the parish staff who will never open it, unless they have to. Sure. So much for anonymity around the sacrament of confession. Any bishop who would hide behind “procedure” to mask the identity of a priest who breaks the seal of confession is a disgrace.
Likewise, he keeps no tabs on this priest, who supposedly unknown to Fabbro, just up and presented himself to another diocese, where, inexplicably, the bishop there just accepted him and let him go “serve” at a religious community and offer public Mass on Sundays and hear confessions.
Not until his presence was reported (and there was fear of news getting out about the whole affair) did Fabbro “spring into action” and order the priest back to the London diocese. But man, he’s all over the COVID “crisis.”
No mask, no eucharist. No contact tracing, no confession of sins. No bare hands, no reception of Holy Communion. COVID crisis? Got it covered. Catholic crisis? No big deal. Men like this long ago gave up the ghost on the Church. Fabbro even joked once at a fundraiser for the seminary that all the numbers across the board for the Church were dismal, in the toilet. Fewer weddings, baptisms, you name it.
But, he added, the one number where they saw improvement was in cemetery plot sales, adding — to uncomfortable laughter from hundreds in attendance — that even if we lose you coming in, we still get you going out. Modernism dumps the authentic Faith. Marxism replaces it.
The things of God matter not at all to either Marxists or modernists. Their single concern is being in the elite crowd when the rest of humanity is subjected to their one-world new order. Neither cares what your favorite color M&M is — because they are all the same.

Morocco Will Normalize Relations With Israel, Trump Administration Announces

President Donald Trump announced Thursday that the Kingdom of Morocco has agreed to normalize relations with Israel, making it the latest in a string of majority-Muslim countries to do so.
“Another HISTORIC breakthrough today!” the president tweeted. “Our two GREAT friends Israel and the Kingdom of Morocco have agreed to full diplomatic relations – a massive breakthrough for peace in the Middle East!”

Senior advisor to the president Jared Kushner told reporters shortly after the president’s announcement that Morocco — like other signatories onto the Abraham Accords — will immediately open liaison offices in Israel, start scheduling direct flights from the country to Israel, and foster “cooperation” between companies in both nations. He confirmed that in addition to Morocco’s decision to normalize relations, Trump had also signed a proclamation recognizing Morocco’s sovereignty over the Western Sahara.
“This comes on four years of very, very hard work and diplomacy,” Kushner stated. “We have peace sprouting in the Middle East.”
Kushner called the announcement a “part of the president’s efforts to bring peace and prosperity to the world,” and stated that other countries in the region “want to keep this progress going.”
He claimed that the more majority-Muslim countries begin to interact with Israel, the less Islamic terror groups will be able to justify their actions.
Trump has touted the Israel “peace deals” as some of his administration’s greatest accomplishments. Prior to the Morocco announcement, the Trump administration had helped foster normalization negotiations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Somalia.
This is a developing story and will be updated with new information as it becomes available.

U.S. Department of Labor Publishes Final Rule to Implement Legal Requirements for Religious Exemption

WASHINGTON, DC  The U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) today released its “Implementing Legal Requirements Regarding the Equal Opportunity Clause’s Religious Exemption” Final Rule, which will be published in an upcoming edition of the Federal Register. This rule will encourage the full and equal participation of religious organizations as federal contractors. Religious organizations, many of them small nonprofits, provide such essential services as feeding the hungry, supporting refugees, and educating our nation’s students.
Executive Order 11246, which OFCCP enforces, generally requires federal contractors to abide by nondiscrimination and affirmative action requirements. Yet the order also acknowledges that religious organizations may prefer in employment “individuals of a particular religion,” so that they can maintain their religious identity and integrity. This accommodation is patterned after a nearly identical provision that has been part of the Civil Rights Act for over a half-century. The rule provides clearer interpretation of the parameters of the religious exemption by adding definitions of key terms. It adds a rule of construction to provide the maximum legal protection of religious exercise permitted by the Constitution and law, including the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. The rule also adds several examples within the definition of “religious corporation, association, educational institution, or society” to better illustrate which organizations may qualify for the religious exemption.
“Religious organizations should not have to fear that acceptance of a federal contract or subcontract will require them to abandon their religious character or identity,” said U.S. Secretary of Labor Eugene Scalia. “This rule gives full effect to Executive Order 11246’s protection of religious organizations.”
“OFCCP is committed to protecting religious liberty, while ensuring vigorous enforcement of the anti-discrimination laws the agency administers,” said Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs Director Craig E. Leen. “This rule will help ensure that religious organizations can fully participate in federal procurement consistent with the First Amendment and other applicable federal laws.”
The final rule is a deregulatory action under Executive Order 13771 as it reduces confusion regarding the Executive Order 11246 religious exemption. The Department estimates that the rule will yield unquantifiable net cost savings overall. The rule does not change the vast majority of federal contractors’ responsibilities to comply with their equal employment opportunity and affirmative action obligations under Executive Order 11246. The Department expects that the large majority of federal contractors do not and will not seek to qualify for the religious exemption.
In addition to Executive Order 11246, OFCCP enforces Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974. These laws, as amended, make it illegal for contractors and subcontractors doing business with the federal government to discriminate in employment because of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran. In addition, contractors and subcontractors are prohibited from discriminating against applicants or employees because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their compensation or the compensation of others subject to certain limitations, and may not retaliate against applicants or employees for engaging in protected activities. These laws also require that federal contractors provide equal employment opportunity through affirmative action. For more information, please call OFCCP’s toll-free helpline at 800-397-6251 or visit https://www.dol.gov/ofccp/.
The mission of the Department of Labor is to foster, promote, and develop the welfare of the wage earners, job seekers, and retirees of the United States; improve working conditions; advance opportunities for profitable employment; and assure work-related benefits and rights.

Apostle Paul addresses Americans directly on human life and the need for Christians to advocate against abortion.

Letter of Paul to the Americans: Creation and a Culture of Life for a Twenty-first Century America’ released.

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, N.J. – “What message would the Apostle Paul deliver to a 21st century America if he were alive today?” Dr. Nicholas F. Mazza, a lifetime advocate for the pre-born asks. Typical of the Apostle Paul’s spiritual insights delivered to early Christian communities, Mazza develops a chilling message, in the spirit of Paul, to American Christians, their ministers and the larger American community in “Letter of Paul to the Americans: Creation and a Culture of Life for a Twenty-first Century America”.
This pro-life book speaks about the creation of humanity by a loving God who invites his entire creation to share in his divine life. In here, the Apostle Paul challenges American Christians, their ministers and Christian politicians to defend pre-born human life simply because it is a sacred gift from a loving God. For this reason, every stage of human development needs to be valued and protected. Mazza’s Pauline message also emphasizes with pride that America, as a nation, is endowed by the same loving Creator and, therefore, has a strong obligation to defend every stage of human life.
“This book directly addresses the growing abortion-on-demand efforts to codify abortion in the late stages of pregnancies and even beyond birth into civil law”, Mazza says. “There are a growing number of progressive states engaged in this dehumanizing effort. Paul’s spiritual insights into the creation of human life is an active attempt to engender a deeper meaning into life and the hopes that the trends in support of greater access to abortion be ended”.
“Letter of Paul to the Americans: Creation and a Culture of Life for a Twenty-first Century America” is a message written specifically to instruct and admonish Christian communities in America and, by extension, America as a people and as a nation. “We need to have a greater understanding of the beauty of all life since it is a purposeful act of divine action controlled by God and not humanity”, Mazza adds.

VIDEO: Conservatives Are Way. Too. Nice. Time to be more like serpents.

TRANSCRIPT
Church Militant (a 501(c)4 corporation) is responsible for the content of this commentary.
In the continuing revelations being made at the intersection of Church and culture, President Trump said something very plainly Saturday at the Georgia rally in Valdosta — as plain, in fact, as the nose on your face. It’s this simple point: Republicans are nice, and as a lady from the crowd reminded him, too nice.
Likewise, in last week’s public hearing on election fraud in Michigan, Rudy Giuliani made the exact same point, that good people are too nice and have not realized just how mean bad people really are. Hopefully, it’s a message that will resonate with political conservatives and enough Republican leaders before it’s too late.
But moving from that point straight into the Faith, there are often major overlaps in how all these affairs play out because we are always dealing with human nature at the end of the day, regardless of the given arena. Too many faithful Catholics are just way too nice. For a variety of reasons, they simply let the evil in the Church (as well as the world) continue. In some weird, overly pietistic view of the second commandment to love your neighbor, they simply forsake all common sense and proper judgment.
The idea that it isn’t Christlike to treat a person suspiciously or that it is sinful to weigh their words against their actions and determine that they are lying is errant. Living the Catholic life fully oftentimes means living in a state of tension, balancing two seemingly contradictory principles across a large spectrum of teaching.
Deciding how to live and respond and conduct our affairs is why we need prudence. Going to one side or the other of a given proposition often leads to chaos. For example, when Our Blessed Lord instructed the Apostles to go out and save the world, which is what His sacred command boiled down to, they flinched, understandably.
“You send us out as sheep among wolves,” they said. A very correct first understanding, as many of us know and can testify to. But here comes the “balancing act” response: “Then be as cunning as the serpent and as peaceful as the dove.” That may be the only time in human history that alignment has ever been made.
Today, and maybe longer than most realize, this divine command is being lived totally out of balance — way too much dove, nowhere near enough serpent. To have a personality that is suspicious of authority is seen as unholy or deficient or some such other degrading view. To regard someone who tells you something that doesn’t add up as a liar or dishonest is frowned upon.
No, we should not always give someone the benefit of the doubt. And to label that as “Christlike” to do and to hide behind a soft spirituality is naive at best and destructive at worst. Would you give a convicted sex offender the benefit of the doubt when looking for a babysitter? Would you give the keys to your car to an alcoholic who is on a drinking spree?
There is absolutely nothing in the world wrong, sinful or immoral about being suspicious of a leader, person or family member whose actions don’t align with their words — even someone coming off as “holy” and pretending to be about the Faith and so forth. You have to consider are they just self-promoters making a living off you, telling you what you want to hear.
Are they advancing some personal agenda regarding schismatic groups, for example; deliberately withholding information from you that would undermine their cause or argument? Are they just trying to expand their email list or increase their Patreon donations by saying what tickles your ear?
Turning from laity to clergy, are the bishops being two-faced and malicious in reality, while in public presenting themselves as concerned “fathers”? Yes, at the very first instance, a person should be given the benefit of the doubt. But when words and actions begin to veer apart, then, yes, it is time to go from dove to full-on serpent.
Remember, these sorts of people are very good at the sly, slithering serpent role, presenting themselves as doves, all the while planning to strike like serpents — the wolf in sheep’s clothing expression. Not for nothing do we have the expression “Watch what he does, not what he says.”
Yet something in the personality and misguided spirituality of many faithful Catholics seems to preclude looking at the world and people in it for what they truly are: Fallen. Fallen mankind is capable of great evil, great deception, horrendous immorality. To walk through life as though that’s not the case is to whistle past the graveyard.
Chalking up evil actions to some irrational excuse in the name of piety is to place your soul and body in danger. This is how wicked priests and bishops got away with raping thousands of altar boys and then using your money to pay off the lawsuits (not to mention the lawyers) when they got caught.
This is how they also got away with destroying the faith of tens of millions in this country alone with hardly anyone uttering a peep. See, that wicked lot is perfect at following the counsel of Our Lord, at least outwardly: Be as cunning as the serpent and as peaceful as the dove.
Cunning they certainly are. Yet the only way they are able to be cunning is because too many faithful Catholics are willing to believe their hogwash, their outward show. Look at their actions, at what they do, not what they say. Their words are a deflection. It’s the same with politicians as well as supposedly reliable Catholic information sources.
First, ask yourself, in all cases, what skin does this fellow have in the game? For example, where does the funding come from? Is a politician supported by Wall Street or Soros or whatever? Is a Catholic apostolate — or media personality — supported by schismatic groups or, perhaps, a few very wealthy donors who pull the strings?
Where did the money come from to begin the operation (whether it’s a campaign for office or a Catholic venture)? Did the politician or Catholic person put up his own money, making him personally invested? Is the politician or Catholic person or outfit personally profiting from their messaging, or are they reinvesting that money back into their effort to better the world and humanity?
It isn’t sinful, immoral or uncatholic to ask these questions — to wonder these things — especially if you start to see a divergence in words from actions. Faithful Catholics in the Church and the world of politics need to ask a lot more questions and be a lot more suspicious-minded.
Too many have been conditioned to feel that suspecting something bad is afoot or making judgments in the material order is a bad thing. Being suspicious of evil and making correct judgments about it is how you get to Heaven — by avoiding the pitfalls. And that’s not Church Militant saying that, it’s Church Militant repeating what Our Blessed Lord said.
Abandon this stupid anti-Catholic notion that “nice” wins the day. The word “nice” never once appears in Sacred Scripture. Being “nice,” in fact, is a sure path to Hell.

For Israel, the Chance to Assert Its Sovereignty Over Its Own Territory May Never Come Again

Caroline Glick continues her discussion of recent diplomatic developments involving Israel: “At a diplomatic crossroad, it’s time for Israel to act,” by Caroline B. Glick, Israel Hayom, November 20, 2020:

As for the Palestinians, in his missive, Indyk wrote contemptuously, “Trump’s ‘deal’ [for peace between Israel and the Palestinians] should be taken off the table when he departs the White House.” Biden’s team’s efforts to date indicate they share Indyk’s view and fully intend to begin where Indyk, Kerry and Barack Obama left off four years ago.

In other words, according to Indyk, the Biden administration shouldn’t even examine the Trump Peace-to-Prosperity Plan, which was worked out in such detail over several years of hard work, but simply assume there is no part of it that is worth considering, and have it “taken off the table” without examining its contents. After all, Indyk doesn’t want to have anything to do that doesn’t give the Palestinians everything they want.

But, as Pompeo’s visit to Psagot Winery makes clear, for now, Trump’s “deal of the century” which supports Israeli sovereignty over the Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria and in the Jordan Valley is still very much on the table.
The leaders of the Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria are calling for the government to use the next two months to normalize the status of Israel’s younger communities in the areas. It certainly makes sense to follow their advice with all due haste. It is similarly important for the government to restore the decision-making power for planning and construction schemes in Judea, Samaria and unified Jerusalem to local planning boards.

Glick wants more “facts on the ground”: more new settlements, and the enlarging of existing settlements. These would constitute a statement by Israel: “we have a right to this land, based on 3,500 years of continuous settlement, a right enshrined in international law by the Palestine Mandate, that gave this territory to the future Jewish state; it is a right independently granted by U.N. Resolution 242 (Nov, 22, 1967), which allows Israel to keep territory it won in the Six-Day War and needs to retain in order to attain “secure [defensible] and recognizable borders”; a right that can also be derived from the Law of Nations, which gives a state the right to keep territory it won in a war of self-defense.” And there is a practical matter, too. It was extremely traumatic to remove 6,000 Jewish settlers from Gaza in 2005. Imagine how impossible it would be to uproot 600,000 Jews from their homes in East Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria. It cannot be done. These are the “facts on the ground” that have been created during the past four decades.
As for Glick’s insisting that decision-making power for planning and construction schemes in Judea, Samaria and unified Jerusalem be returned to local planning boards, she hopes that will speed up such decisions which tended to be slowed down in the bureaucracy at the national level. Those who live in the immediate neighborhoods of such proposed projects are best able to judge the soundness and justification of such proposals and to act quickly to approve them.

As part of the Obama administration’s explicit efforts to demonize Jewish life in these areas, Obama coerced Netanyahu into agreeing that every new construction project in them would require the prime minister’s signature to move forward. That move, made under duress, should be abrogated immediately.

Imagine if the United States our governors, rather than local authorities, had to sign off on every construction project in their states. It would take forever to win approvals as the proposals percolated upwards to the state house. That, in effect, is what Obama pressured Netanyahu to do, hoping it would slow down the approval process, which is exactly what happened. Right now, Glick argues, while a sympathetic Trump administration is still in office, Israel should abrogate that agreement.

More to the point, in the face of the open hostility Biden’s team is now expressing towards those property rights and towards Israel’s sovereign rights in Judea and Samaria more generally, it would be eminently reasonable, and indeed a matter of great urgency, for the Netanyahu government to secure Trump’s permission to apply our sovereignty to Israel’s communities in Judea and Samaria and to the Jordan Valley in the framework of the Trump peace plan….

Glick wants Netanyahu to return to the policy he had been promoting last May, when he announced he would be extending Israeli sovereignty to the Jordan Valley and to the five largest settlement blocs, but then agreed, in order to obtain from the UAE the “normalization of ties,” to “suspend” indefinitely that extension of sovereignty. She thinks that the UAE at this point is so committed to the agreement with Israel that it will express its great disappointment if Israel now applies its sovereignty in Judea and Samaria, but not to the extent that it will undo its new ties to Israel, given how many U.A.E. businessmen have already been enthusiastically at work signing deals their Israeli counterparts in dozens of fields, from irrigation and waste water management, to cybersecurity and laser anti-missiles, to solar energy and million-mile batteries. Were Trump to approve Israel’s extension of sovereignty to settlements in Judea and Samaria and to the Jordan Valley, this would be his last, parting gift to the Jewish state for which he has already done so much. Glick thinks if this were to happen, there would be only a subdued expression of dismay. For security reasons – having to do with the increasing threat from Iran – it is unlikely that the Gulf Arabs, or Egypt or Jordan, would want to break ties with Israel that are too valuable to them, given the threat from the Islamic Republic. There will, of course, be impotent rage in Ramallah, just as there was when the Arab League dismissed the PA’s demand that it censure the U.A.E. and Bahrain for their normalization of ties with Israel; that swift dismissal demonstrated how low the Palestinians had fallen in the estimate of the other Arabs. The Arabs are tired of the Palestinian problem, tired of constant Palestinian demands for financial and diplomatic support, tired of the Palestinians walking away from the generous deals offered by Barak to Arafat, and by Olmert to Abbas. After decades of tending to the care and feeding of the Palestinians, these Arab states want to promote their own security, their own prosperity – and both can be helped by ever-closer ties to Israel.
Glick focussed on three things that she thinks Israel’s policymakers should take into account.
First, the decision by the PA to renew security cooperation with Israel, which was undertaken not – pace Glick – to win favor in the new administration, but reflected new fears about Hamas and PIJ terrorism in the West Bank, ever since the latest Hamas-Fatah agreement broke down. Israel’s intelligence on Hamas has been of great value to the PA, and Mahmoud Abbas knows it. Similarly, the PA has finally decided to accept the tax import money collected by Israel on behalf of the PA, after it had for many months chosen not to accept that money because the Israelis insisted on deducting the amounts provided terrorists and their families in the PA’s “Pay-For-Slay” program from the tax money to be transferred. Now the PA has done a volte-face, not in order to curry favor with the Biden Administration but because it is flat broke and wants to get its hands on the $890 million that Israel has ready to hand over.
Second, there was another diplomatic breakthrough between Arabs and Israelis when Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Zayed accepted President Rivlin’s invitation to visit Israel, and Bahrain’s Foreign Minister came to Israel to open his country’s embassy there. Both developments show that those Arabs “normalizing ties” have no intention of letting the martin-indyks of this world get in the way of their furthering these most useful ties, military and economic, with the Jewish state.
As a side matter, but potentially of great significance, was the article by a Saudi lawyer and journalist Osama Yamani in the journal Ukaz arguing that the “farthest mosque” (al-masjid al-aqsa) from which Muhammad ascended into Heaven on his winged steed al-Buraq, was not located on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem; Muhammad carried out his journey in 621 A.D. and the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem was not built until 705 A.D. Rather, Yamani argues, the true Al-Aqsa Mosque, already existing in 621 A.D., was located at the town of Al-Ju’ranah, some 18 miles northeast of Mecca. Yamani’s article could not have been published without the Saudi rulers approving it; they have the billions with which to promote his argument, for if it were to be widely accepted, it would give the Saudis possession of the three holiest sites in Islam (Mecca, Medina, Al-Ju’ranah) and raise even higher their status within the Umma. It could also lead to Jerusalem losing its current religious significance for Muslims and that, naturally, would diminish Muslim fervor for “reclaiming” Jerusalem from the Jews, something Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman would likely favor.
Third, in the same week, Secretary Pompeo visited – a first for an American Secretary of State – a West Bank settlement in Psagot, and its famed winery. This was a demonstration of the Trump administration’s stated conviction that Israel’s West Bank settlements are not illegal. That reaffirmation is what gives Caroline Glick hope that now, before the very different Biden Administration takes power, the Israelis can persuade the Trump administration to let them apply Israeli sovereignty to Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria, and to East Jerusalem. It’s a gamble. The Israelis would be betting that the Arab states now partnering with Israel will not be diverted from that path, and that others – mainly Saudi Arabia – are so alarmed about Iran that they will keep collaborating on security with Israel no matter what, and might limit themselves to mildly deploring this extension of sovereignty in the West Bank. As for the Biden peace-processors, they are already determined to blame Israel for everything, so their anger at the Jewish state’s extension of sovereignty will be different not in kind but only in degree. What Glick rightly fears is that this chance to extend sovereignty may never come again; if it is to happen, it must happen now, while Israel still has a friend in the White House.

Look What America Did in 1876 When The Presidential Election Was Similarly Contested

Here’s what they did…..

The disputed election

On election day Tilden led Hayes by more than 260,000 votes and appeared on the verge of winning an electoral college majority, having swept much of the South; he also won the border states and several states in the northeast, including his home state of New YorkConnecticutDelaware, Maryland, and New Jersey. However, three states were in doubt: Florida, Louisiana, and South Carolina, with 19 electoral votes among them. The status of one of Oregon’s three electors—which had already been given to Tilden—was also in question. Hayes and most of his associates were ready to concede when a New Hampshire Republican leader, William E. Chandler, observed that if Hayes were awarded every one of the doubtful votes, he would defeat Tilden 185–184. Both parties claimed victory in all three Southern states and sent teams of observers and lawyers into all three in hopes of influencing the official canvass.

The impasse continued into December, when the electors were to meet and cast their votes. When Congress convened on December 7, there were rival electoral reports, and, over the next six weeks, maneuvering and acrimony prevailed in Congress, and there were fears that another civil war might break out. On January 29, 1877, Congress created an Electoral Commission to break the deadlock. The commission was to have five members from the House of Representatives, five from the Senate, and five from the Supreme Court. As originally conceived, the commission was to comprise seven Democrats, seven Republicans, and one independent, the Supreme Court justice David Davis. Davis refused to serve, however, after the Republican-controlled legislature of Illinois engineered to have him elected to the state’s vacant Senate seat, and Justice Joseph P. Bradley, a Republican, was named in his place by the other four justices.

While the commission was deliberating, Republican allies of Hayes engaged with moderate Southern Democrats in secret negotiations aimed at securing acquiescence to Hayes’s election. Although Bradley leaned toward Tilden’s claim in Florida, he was swayed to back Hayes, and thereafter every action by the Electoral Commission followed a strict 8–7 split in favour of the Republican claims. When the last issue was resolved after 4 am on March 2, Hayes was declared the winner, with a narrow 185–184 majority, and he was sworn in privately the following day (because March 4 was a Sunday, the public swearing in took place on March 5). Although the result was greeted with outrage and bitterness by some Northern Democrats, who dubbed Hayes “His Fraudulency,” Hayes was sworn in without incident. Southern Democrats, however, found relative contentment with the outcome, when, as president, Hayes promptly made good on the secret pledges made during the electoral dispute to withdraw federal troops from states still under military occupation and thus end the era of Reconstruction. Thereafter the Democrats came to dominate what became known as the “Solid South.”

New Study Reveals that Muslim Religiosity Strongly Linked to Hatred Towards the West

I am a Social and Political Psychologist that has been researching in the area of Psychology of Religion. What fascinates me about this discipline is that it goes beyond collecting people’s responses to understanding and examining their attitudes. Our aim is not limited to knowing what people think about a particular issue, but it expands to answer questions about why do they think and behave in a certain way and what we can do to change or sustain their behaviour.
The Christian faith dominates the field of Psychology of Religion. This is understandable since the West was the first to study religion using empirical scientific methods. As a Middle Eastern, I was keen to enrich the literature by expanding it to cover Islam and Muslims. In a recent study that I published in one of the top journals of the scientific study of religion, I examined the relationship between Muslim religiosity and prejudice towards the West. I wanted to investigate whether there was an association between being a religious Muslim and having negative attitudes toward the West. The sample of this study was collected from 17 Arab countries and from a variety of ages ranging from 18 to over 70.
The results were distressing and revealed that Muslim religiosity was strongly linked to hatred towards the West. It was expected to see a link between Islamic fundamentalism and negative attitudes towards the West; however, even intrinsic Muslim religiosity (moderate Islam) strongly predicted prejudice towards the West. In fact, the only groups that had favourable attitudes toward the West were the secular and nonreligious Arabs. What makes this finding intriguing is that it is different than what is found in a Western context. For instance, Christian fundamentalism is still linked to prejudice toward Muslims, but moderate Christian religiosity is not. Also, when we add ideological variables like Right-Wing Authoritarianism and Dogmatism to mediate this relationship, the Christian fundamentalism – prejudice link disappears. This means that in a Western context, Right-Wing Authoritarianism and Dogmatism have a substantial impact on prejudiced attitudes that the religiosity factor becomes insignificant. In comparison, Muslim religiosity remains even after including ideological factors like Right-Wing Authoritarianism and Dogmatism to try to mediate the link between Islam and negative biases towards the West. In other words, Muslim religiosity remains the dominant predictor for disliking the West regardless of it being moderate or reaching a fundamentalism level.
The crucial thing about these findings is that it shows that Islam is not like other religions and that this ideology needs to be understood and examined from a different scope. I have prepared a project entitled: “Conceptualizing and measuring Islamic fundamentalism in the Middle East, and consequences for anti-Western prejudice.” This project will examine Islamic fundamentalism in more detail in the Middle East and test its relationship to anti-Western prejudice, its link to political Islam, and other related psychological traits. Long story short, I was quite surprised by the response of many Western universities that were hesitant to invest in this research. I was asking myself why is it ok to study and examine other religions but one of a sudden it might not be a good idea to study Islam? After all, this is science, and science should remain objective.
As a psychologist, I believe that if we are serious about finding a cure for a patient, then we must begin by a proper diagnosis. But if we insist that the patient is ok and does not need treatment than things will only get worse. That is why science is crucial to help us understand and work on finding solutions to deal with extreme ideologies rather than leaving things the way they are which will only bring more violence and risk stability and security in both the East and the West. And if the recent horrifying act of beheading a schoolteacher in France because of showing some pictures was not enough to bring a wake-up call then I’m not anticipating a bright future! If you would like to read the details of my study you can reach it through this link: Islam and the West

New ’Woke’ Denomination is a Warning Sign to Christians

Over the weekend, the formation of a new Methodist denomination was announced during an online worship service hosted by former and current Methodist church leaders. According to organizers, the Liberation Methodist Connexion (LMX), as the group will be called, is a socially progressive denomination that will reimage what it means to follow Jesus. But even a cursory review of the new denomination reveals nothing close to orthodox Christianity and something more akin to a Marxist, LGBT-pride.
According to LMX leaders, theology and fidelity to Scripture or Christian theology is not a priority for the new denomination. In fact, as one leader explained, “There are no doctrinal litmus tests” for joining the movement. “We seek not answers that lead to correct doctrines as to why we suffer. We seek correct actions, correct praxis, where God sustains us during the unanswerable questions,” argued Rev. Althea Spencer-Miller, another LMX leader.
The creation of the new Methodist denomination is not surprising. At the beginning of the year, representatives of the United Methodist Church tentatively agreed to a proposal to split the nation’s second largest Protestant denomination over “fundamental differences” regarding doctrinal differences. In recent years, the denomination had reached an impasse on questions related to the morality of homosexuality, same-sex marriage, and the ordination of clergy who identify as gay.
The anticipated vote to split the denomination was set to take place at the 2020 General Conference in May. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the vote has been delayed until fall of 2021. In terms of the details of the proposal, progressives within the United Methodist Church will give a newly formed traditionalist Methodist denomination $25 million. Local churches that choose to affiliate with the traditionalist denomination may retain their assets including church buildings and properties. Moreover, conservative clergy may retain their pensions. These concessions were possible because conservatives maintain a governing majority within United Methodism despite the fact that American Methodist leadership is liberal.
However, as evidenced by this weekend’s developments, the extended wait time proved too long for some theologically liberal Methodists who see the new denomination as a better fit for their progressive beliefs. “The timeline of the Holy Spirit is driving our decision to launch the LMX at this moment, and we are following her call,” explained Spencer-Mill, while using female pronouns to refer to God.
A cursory overview of the LMX website reveals that the denomination will resemble nothing like the movement started by John and Charles Wesley in the 18th century where the importance of the new birth, works of piety, and missions were emphasized. Instead, leaders of the new group promise to journey toward a “new way of being followers of Christ” which include refuting the “powers, principalities, and privileges” they believe have defined Methodism. These include a litany of isms including colonialism, sexism, clericalism, ableism, ageism, transphobia, and “heteronormativity.”
While liberals within Methodism have been pushing for the inclusion of more LGBT affirming stances in recent years, the LMX represents a dramatic break from historic Methodist doctrine. But, and to their credit, the leaders of the LMX — who proudly list their preferred pronouns on their website — admit, “LMX theology is not written in stone.” But while their theology isn’t written in stone (or anywhere that I can find), the purpose behind the group is clear: providing ecclesiastical cover for unorthodox views on marriage and sexuality.
Even though the LMX is clearly out of the mainstream of Methodism, its emergence before the expected denominational split is noteworthy. But it is also cautionary. As Mark Tooley, President of the Institute on Religion and Democracy and Methodist leader, recently explained, United Methodism “was from the start an experiment in theological pluralism.” This meant that over the years an increasingly wide range of theological views was tolerated within the denomination. Eventually, this meant that heterodox views could coexist with orthodoxy without causing too much of a stir. However, as the broader culture drifted further left on issues such as marriage and human sexuality, the strain between conservatives and liberals over these issues became too much. Thus, in retrospect, the splintering of Methodism over biblical interpretation was predictable. Without clear theological guardrails in place, there was nothing to stop those with unbiblical views from entering the denomination’s ranks and no meaningful way to expel them.
Thus, while the LMX will likely remain a small group of former United Methodists and others, it stands as a cautionary tale for churches and denominations around the country. In an age when doctrine is not taken seriously, Christians, for the sake of faithfulness, must insist on sound doctrine and fidelity to God’s Word.

VIDEO: The Commie Coup (Against God)

Where is it all going?

TRANSCRIPT
Church Militant (a 501(c)4 corporation) is responsible for the content of this commentary.
God created man free to worship Him, to overcome internal spiritual civil war and to be united with the Holy Trinity forever — God, Church, freedom. Do you seriously think none of that is worth fighting for and dying for if necessary?
Americans may very well have had an election stolen from them. Loads of evidence is pointing that way. It’s coming down to a very narrow path — still winnable, but very narrow.
The Marxists need to lock down the White House, and that means getting favorable rulings in a multitude of court cases. So far, it’s been a mixed bag, but mostly rulings have gone in their favor.
The only serious firewall left is the Supreme Court of the United States. The constant howl from the communist media is “there is no evidence of widespread fraud,” which is a blatant lie. I’m not sure when hundreds of eyewitnesses stopped qualifying as “evidence,” especially witnesses making statements under oath and subject to penalty of perjury. But hey, when you hold the microphone, you get to lie all you want.
Ceding the institution of the media was the first and most damaging error of the always-and-forever-asleep-at-the-switch conservatives, and that is the trump card the communists always hold. As Abp. Sheen said, communists have all zeal and no truth, and we have all truth and no zeal.
That will dictate the winner every single time: Aggression vs. passivity. Bet the mortgage on aggression. If events play out that Biden will illegitimately be taking the oath, then all eyes will shift to those two Georgia Senate run-offs.
Lose those, and it really will be lights out: Again, communists are aggressors. With complete power, which they would have, nothing will deter them. If the communist election coup is completed, life in America as we have known it will come to an end. It’s idiotic to pretend otherwise.
Planning for the future, retirement plans, building your own business, you name it — get serious. State control means just that: Control by the State. Your personal freedom will be gone. You will submit. If (and we still don’t know) the Marxist election coup is successful, then patriots and faithful Catholics are going to be faced with some very hard choices.
Do you really want to exist (not live, exist) under communist rule? That’s what’s coming — fast. We’ll see. In the meantime, start thinking that some things are worth dying for: God, Church, freedom. Communists hate God, Church and freedom. Why should half (and probably more) become subjects of these Marxists?
The division is real. It’s why talk of more drastic realities cannot be dismissed. Just today, Rasmussen published a poll showing that U.S. voters now regard each other as bigger enemies than Russia or North Korea and just as dangerous as China. Shockingly, 24% of likely U.S. voters think Biden voters are America’s biggest enemy. Nearly as many — 22% — regard Trump voters as the biggest enemy.
A deeper dive finds that 37% of Republicans feel Biden voters are the biggest enemy; 35% of Democrats think Trump voters are the biggest threat. What’s more, 75% of Republicans and (get this) even 30% of Democrats believe the election was stolen. That’s essentially half the country.
That means if Biden is the dude, half the nation will consider him illegitimate. All of that is tinder for secession, violence and even war, if it comes to that. A total realignment, however that would play out, is absolutely on the table if Biden takes the oath and those two Georgia seats go Democrat — a point Church Militant raised months ago and kept repeating in the run-up to Election Day.
The fix was in. The only question was if it would be sufficient to overcome Trump’s Election Day vote. This is why civil wars happen. Good people fall asleep and let evil take over. Now it may be time to pay the price for that “nap” — in blood.
Unless godless communism is directly confronted and defeated — spiritually and physically, it will kill you. What communists correctly understand (and too few Catholics do) is that this is a fight to the death. Tens of millions will perish eternally and temporally under Marxism’s reign of death.
That’s what abortion has been. That godless dogma of controlling humanity by slaughtering it in the womb — that’s why governments allow it, promote it and even pay for it. Marxists wield influence within the halls of power, an influence that has kept increasing until we’ve reached this point of an attempted and somewhat likely successful coup.
Perhaps their attempted coup will have been one election cycle too soon (maybe not but there is no denying the trend). Faithless U.S. bishops created this environment, too consumed with gay sex and money. America has come to this point because the guardians of human dignity, the bishops, sold out for gay sex, theft and personal power.
It’s all about human dignity (humans are made in the image and likeness of God) — something the greedy bishops blather on about non-stop with their constant social justice warrior pronouncements. But down in the trenches, it is they who set the stage for all this to unfold, inverting the Second and First Commandments.
Only the Church stands between true freedom and the evil of communism. Too many bishops accepted modernism, the communist’s philosophical underpinning. And what’s more, they still cling to their modernism as if it is the salvation of the world.
For Catholics who have no idea what all this is about because you’ve been too busy running the kids around to soccer games on the Lord’s Day, understand this: The Queen of Heaven did not come to Fatima to warn about the errors of “liberalism” or other vague ideologies spreading through the world. She warned in very specific terms about what was occurring in Russia — the Bolshevik Revolution, Marxism, communism.
All of it is communism, the State replacing God. In the political sphere, America is (or was) the final stand against communism, but it has always had within it the seeds of its own destruction, just as Benjamin Franklin said when he warned, “We’ve given you a republic, if you can keep it.”
America doesn’t guarantee freedom unless you fight for its survival each generation. But unopposed communism does guarantee its loss. It’s a very definite possibility that people in the United States are going to have to choose sides very soon. Why, after all, should the United States be exempt from internal war? A final conflict between good and evil comes to every civilization.
A geographical migration of sorts has already started happening. People are moving from Marxist states to more conservative ones. That’s fine except this is a coup of the federal government, and the Marxists, once they have seized power (if they do), will not give a rip about states’ rights. They already don’t.
If this coup is completed, then all that will be accomplished for conservatives who are moving to more-friendly states is that the can will have been kicked down the road a bit. State leaders will be confronted with a federal communist tyranny, and they will have to rebel against it or go along with it.
Likewise, the “blue states” will clamp down on anything they view as dissent or rebellion. The Wuhan virus is being exploited to its maximum advantage. A virus that has a 99.9% survival rate is being weaponized as though it is the Black Death. Of course, people die from it and get sick — just like they do from hundreds of other diseases. Human life is terminal.
Since when is the answer to shut down a civilization? (Unless, of course, you want to bring that civilization to an end.) And if a civilization is brought to an end, another is always ushered in on the previous one’s corpse. Half the country believes the election was stolen. Now all that remains is to see what’s going to happen in response.
We already know where the U.S. bishops are on that point. They tripped all over themselves rushing to congratulate “President-elect Biden,” totally disregarding the calls for justice from their most ardent faithful.
Funny how things come around: The very men who have personally profited from all the social justice garbage now deny justice to an entire society and, in the process, potentially usher in communist rule. I wonder what they will proclaim once the shooting starts, if it starts. On second thought, who cares?

WATCH: First Lady Unveils 2020 Christmas Decorations!

First Lady Melania Trump unveiled the official Christmas theme and decorations this morning as the First Family prepares for Christmastime at the White House.
This year’s theme, “America the Beautiful,” pays tribute to the majesty of our great country. From the traditional Gold Star Family Tree to a gingerbread house replica of the White House—complete with the West Wing, Executive Residence, East Wing, Rose Garden, and First Ladies’ Garden—crafted from 275 pounds of dough, every piece of this year’s décor was chosen and completed with care.

“Over the past four years I have had the honor to travel to some of our nation’s most beautiful landmarks and meet some of the most compassionate and patriotic American citizens,” the First Lady said. “From coast to coast, the bond that all Americans share is an appreciation for our traditions, values, and history, which were the inspiration behind the decorations this year.”
The official White House Christmas tree arrived last week, courtesy of Dan Taylor from Dan and Bryan Trees. Greeted by the First Lady, Taylor presented an 18.5’ Fraser Fir, which was delivered to the White House North Portico in a horse-drawn carriage.
“Thank you to all of the staff and volunteers who worked to make sure the People’s House was ready for the holiday season,” the First Lady said. “Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.”

First Lady Melania Trump unveils 2020 Christmas décor

The First Family is celebrating their fourth Christmas in the White House.  This year’s theme, “America the Beautiful,” is a tribute to the majesty of our great Nation. From coast to coast, our country is blessed with boundless natural wonders. The timeless treasures represented in this year’s holiday showcase remind us of the true American spirit. Together, we celebrate this land we are all proud to call home.

Upon entering the East Wing, visitors are welcomed by The Gold Star Family Tree, an annual tradition among the holiday decorations. Draped in blue, the color of perseverance and justice, it pays tribute to our American heroes and their families who walk beside them in service. This year, families who decorated the tree placed the name of their fallen family member on ribbon that will adorn the tree.
Around the corner, the East Colonnade celebrates the diverse landscapes found across this great Nation. Separated by region, classical urns hold foliage representative of the official tree of each state and territory. Just beyond the gallery of greenery, the East Garden Room displays holiday cards sent by first families over the past twelve administrations. This year’s card, shimmering in gold, shows the unique landscape of America, the beautiful.
Entering the Ground Floor Corridor is the Vermeil Room, a collection made up of more than 1,600 pieces, many of which are on display. To preserve the White House for the American people, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy established the “People’s House” as a living museum and laid the foundation for expanding the diversity of the collection. Sharing in this love for arts and culture, President John F. Kennedy’s official portrait is featured on the graceful trees.
The next stop, the White House Library, is home to a collection of more than 2,700 classic works that provide first-hand accounts of progress in our Nation’s history. In recognition of this year’s 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, the Library shines a spotlight on women who were pioneers for gender equality and the impact of their voices on our Nation’s story. It also contains a tribute to Mrs. Trump’s 19th Amendment child art competition hosted earlier in the year, with all of the winning art displayed on the base of the tabletop tree. The décor highlights women at the forefront of American achievements who have paved the way for generations to come.
Nearby is the China Room which houses the historic collection of presidential china patterns and is modeled to show the joy that home can bring to us all. The home scene is set for timeless traditions and tasty treats, capturing the importance of time spent together during the holiday season. Stockings for the First Family hang on the fireplace, one of the 28 historic fireplaces throughout the White House.
Upstairs in the East Room, visitors will see planes, trains, and automobiles race around the trees, through the ribbons, and between the twinkling lights. Since the creation of our Nation, America has been on the move. From the First Transcontinental Railroad to the Apollo 11 lunar landing, the East Room celebrates our monumental triumphs in innovation and technology. In a 1909 ceremony in this room, President William Taft recognized Wilbur and Orville Wright for their unprecedented achievements in aerodynamics. As a country, we proudly commend those who embrace the power of possibility, fueling the next chapter of our history at sea, on land, in skies, and beyond.
Moving into the Parlors, the Green Room features the beauty of American wildlife. Vignettes in the windows showcase the diversity of creatures that flutter and find refuge among our native landscape.
As one moves into the Blue Room, the official White House Christmas tree illuminates the room and stands over eighteen feet in height. This majestic Fraser fir showcases the splendor of our country through the unique perspective of America’s children. Students across the country were asked to artistically depict what makes their state beautiful by highlighting the people, places, and things that capture the spirit of the state in which they call home. Glistening on the branches, their mini masterpieces collectively showcase America, the beautiful. The gleaming tree, bedecked with rays of yellow and gold, unites us in our common goal of building a brighter future for America’s children, aligning closely with First Lady Melania Trump’s BE BEST initiative which focuses on giving all children the best opportunity to succeed in life.
As one moves to the Red Room, we salute America’s everyday heroes who serve as first responders and frontline workers. Handmade ornaments highlight the many professionals and volunteers who serve their communities with a spirit of generosity.
As one moves to the State Dining room, we continue to celebrate “America the Beautiful.” This year’s Gingerbread House, a delicious masterpiece displayed on the iconic eagle pier table, replicates the West Wing, Executive Residence, East Wing, and for the first time, the Rose Garden and the First Ladies’ Garden. Constructed from 275 pounds of gingerbread dough, 110 pounds of pastillage dough, 30 pounds of gum paste, 25 pounds of chocolate, and 25 pounds of royal icing. The White House pastry team took extra care in making sure that every detail, down to the smallest blossom, paid homage to the beauty of “America the Beautiful.”
Ending in the Grand Foyer and Cross Hall, guests find themselves overflowed with love, joy, peace, hope, and faith, to reveal the most important gifts of the season.
“I am excited to announce this year’s White House holiday theme, ‘America the Beautiful,’” said First Lady Melania Trump. “Over the past four years I have had the honor to travel to some of our nation’s most beautiful landmarks and meet some of the most compassionate and patriotic American citizens. From coast to coast, the bond that all Americans share is an appreciation for our traditions, values, and history, which were the inspiration behind the decorations this year. Thank you to all of the staff and volunteers who worked to make sure the People’s House was ready for the holiday season. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.”

VIDEO: Diabolical Detroit — Evil never stays isolated.

TRANSCRIPT
Evil is never compartmentalized. It spreads like a grease fire, overflowing into all aspects of a place. A person is not both good and evil at the same time. And for clarity, we aren’t talking about people simply sinning, giving in to temptation and then going to confession.
We are talking about the embrace of evil — not just bad, sinful acts. A person can be fundamentally “good” but still sin. That understanding fits nearly everyone struggling to work out his or her salvation in fear and trembling.
No, here we are talking about a situation where a person has given himself over to evil, embraced it. Such people are fundamentally bad. For them, salvation is a much more difficult goal, for they do not even recognize the need for repentance.
So yes, Bp. Barron, we do not have a reasonable hope all men are saved because a huge number of men do not believe in salvation and flat out reject it. Stupid theology. So let’s focus on evil for a moment here. Evil can certainly be concentrated in a person, a group of people or even a place — especially if enough people in a place have embraced it.
A simple reflection on the concentration camps reveals that simple conclusion. Some places are more spiritually healthy than others, and some places are more evil. Likewise, a concentration of evil in a given area of a certain locale can certainly spill over into other areas — the “grease fire” analogy.
Let’s focus on Detroit, for example, the epicenter of the collapse of the Church in the United States back in the 1960s. Contrary to poor scholarship on the part of some Catholic authors who didn’t do their homework sufficiently when talking about the Church being “infiltrated,” it was not Chicago’s Bernardin who reigned down evil on the U.S. Church.
The Detroit domino was the first to fall, 20 years beforehand, pushed over by the wicked Cdl. John Dearden (as Church Militant has explained for the past dozen years or so). Editorial note: Careful whom you read if you’re looking for the complete picture.
When Dearden died in 1988, he was hailed by secular media as the leading liberal voice in the Church. That’s one thing the fake news got right.
Dearden, nicknamed “Iron John,” reigned in Detroit from 1958 to 1980. When he came back from Vatican II, he began a systematic gutting of the Church in Detroit, culminating in the notorious Call To Action Conference in 1976.
That conference, attended by 3,000 phony Catholics from chanceries across the country, produced a list of recommendations that would be cheered by the likes of James Martin. Rejecting Church teaching on birth control, women priests, you name it. It was all there.
While not officially adopted because of being rife with heresy, it was nonetheless taken back to dioceses all over the nation and implemented unofficially, in bits and pieces.
That led to a meltdown of the Faith in Catholic schools, seminaries, parishes and so forth. Chanceries became denizens of evil and spread that evil throughout their diocese. The virus was set loose.
However, in Detroit, for the 10 years between the end of Vatican II and the Call to Action Conference, Dearden used Motown as a sort of petri dish, a localized experiment to wipe out the Faith. That would later be carried to every diocese in the country, but at first, it was largely confined to Detroit.
It was Dearden who first ripped out the communion rails, tore the altars off the back wall and designed the “table Mass.” He implemented the substitution of sacred music for the hippy guitar songs of the anti-Vietnam-War era.
It was Dearden, not Bernadin, who launched Holy Communion in the hand and so-called Eucharistic Ministers. You name it — whatever cause you believe was the origin of the collapse of the U.S. Church, it began right here, in Detroit, beginning in the 1960s.
The Faith was first whittled away, then wiped out first in Detroit. Dearden ordained boatloads of homosexual men, many active, and at the very least sympathetic to the whole scene. Many of those men still wield enormous power and influence here, up to and including Abp. Allen Vigneron, ordained by Dearden in 1974.
Vigneron has embraced all things gay for decades, including his time in various posts in the seminary as well as rector. During his time, the ordinations of multiple gay men continued, as did the purging of straight men (who were deemed too “rigid”).
As a result, the Detroit presbyterate is awash in gay men with collars on. They adore Dearden — and why wouldn’t they? Now, at the same time the evil of homosexual impurity was gripping and strangling the local Church, the local political scene was also becoming evil.
And that should be no surprise, since evil — once embraced — washes over every wall and knows no borders. As we said, evil is never compartmentalized. The same lies that were allowed to penetrate into the heart and life of the Church also penetrated into the heart and life of the people, specifically in the body politic.
It can be no surprise that the evil playing out in the Wayne County vote and Detroit’s cheating politics is so strong and omnipresent because it first found its origins in the local Church.
Once the guardian of truth — the Catholic Church — gives up the ghost, as happened here in Detroit, then there is no remaining firewall to protect and safeguard the innocent, and the entire populace becomes infected, as has happened.
One very plausible explanation for the evil (and, for the record, lying and cheating and threatening people with their lives because of their politics is evil) is the evil that still grips the local Church.
This archdiocese, which Vigneron is successfully busting down to a mere shadow of its former self, is still awash in the sins of impurity and lying, as manifest in the person of the archbishop himself and his inside counselors.
Vigneron and his archdiocese are currently involved in covering up a case of homosexual harassment by one of their employees against at least one young man. And as disturbing as it will be to the archdiocese — yes, Church Militant knows the identity of the offending employee, his place of employment and his closeness to Vigneron.
For the sake of the privacy of the victim, we are not revealing the employee’s name, at least not yet. But rest assured, we know. When people are involved in a cover-up, some people talk Your Excellency — people talk. In fact, very few people around you actually trust you anymore.
But more to the point, the archbishop not only knows about the homosexual harassment by one of his employees, he also knows the employee is actively gay and living with his gay lover.
When a local priest was told of all this, Fr. Michael Suhy of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Plymouth, he pursued it for the sake of the victim and his family. But his whistleblowing and pursuit of truth got him in hot water, and a week or so ago, he was relieved of his duties by the archbishop under the bogus claim that he was “overwhelmed with his duties as pastor.”
The archdiocese denies any knowledge of homosexual predation by one of its employees, and well, of course it does. Just like it denies any knowledge of a vendetta against Fr. Eduard Perrone, with Msgr. Michael Bugarin fabricating charges of sodomy against him to get him removed.
And yes, in case you’re wondering, Bugarin is the man behind this clerical hit job as well. Nothing has changed in Detroit since the days of Dearden, and why would it? Personnel, after all, is policy.
The people running the show are Dearden’s prototypes — raised by him to have a view of the world where the Church is something other than Her divine charter suggests. So as evil engulfed the Church here and took it over, the same happened in the other areas of daily life, manifest at this current moment by the political underhandedness going on.
There is much in need of purging in Detroit as well as the rest of the country, but it must begin in the Church, without retreating from the public sphere. The evil is the same, just manifesting in different ways depending on the specific stage.
But it is all evil. And to think — it all started right here in Detroit, an archdiocese that had at one time nearly 500 parishes but that will soon have roughly 70! And it’s the same on the political scene, an area where the little man came to find employment in the burgeoning auto industry to better his family and improve his lot. At the same time the Church began collapsing, so too did the political structure, each supposedly protecting him.
Evil never stays isolated. Until it is beaten back, it continues to spread and destroy everything in its path.

America: ‘A Church Relocation Project?’

There is a war on history in our time. There is an all-out effort to cut us off from our past— presumably to make us into a nation in the image of what the Left wants.
For example, Thanksgiving would seem to be as American as apple pie. But an article last week (11/17/20) in the New York Times refers to the “myth” of Thanksgiving.
The so-called “paper of record” quotes a Native-American historian, Linda Coombs, of the Wampanoag Tribe (of New England). She writes about the first Thanksgiving: “There was an event that happened in 1621….But the whole story about what occurred on that first Thanksgiving was a myth created to make white people feel comfortable.” In effect, the article blames the Pilgrims for what others did long after them.
Amazing. The Pilgrims, who settled Plymouth, Massachusetts, had a stellar reputation with the Indians. They made a treaty of peace that lasted half a century.
Rev. Billy Falling, a Native-American pastor and author, told me:

“The Pilgrims had good relationships with the Indians….As a Native-American, I thank God for the Europeans that brought us… the Gospel and brought Western Civilization.”

Obviously, terrible, inexcusable things happened to Indians, long after the Pilgrims, at the hands of other European settlers and Americans. But in doing injustice to Native Americans, they were not at all following the Christian example of the Pilgrims.
Meanwhile, this month is the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims coming to these shores—a milestone in history.
Pastor, broadcaster, and author Dr. D. James Kennedy once observed that America began as “a church relocation project.” His comment is profound—inasmuch as the Pilgrims who settled Plymouth four centuries ago founded America.
The church relocation was from mid-England to Holland to America.
The Pilgrims were one particular congregation that was born in the Midlands of England, in the sleepy village of Scrooby, about 150 miles north of London.
The Bible was beginning to be read by many in England for the first time, and it caused an unexpected reaction. As people compared the New Testament with what they were seeing in practice in the official Church of England, they felt there was a need for positive changes.
A large group of those wanting reform within the Church of England, which was Protestant in its theology bur Roman Catholic in its liturgy, worked for the purity of the Church. They were derisively called Puritans.
A very small subset of Puritans were Separatists. They thought reform within the Church was hopeless, so they created small, secret congregations of believers, separate from the Church of England—which was illegal at the time.
The Pilgrims were one particular congregation of Separatists that was born in mid-England around 1606 during the time when Separatist church meetings were illegal. Their goal was to worship Jesus in the purity of the gospel as they understood it. The Bible (the Geneva version) was the focus of their existence.
Because of persecution in England, they decided to emigrate to Holland, where they stayed for more than a decade. But they could see, over time, their church slowly dissipating. So they wanted to come to America to more fully practice their faith.
In the 66-day voyage of the Mayflower, they were blown off course and ended up under no government’s jurisdiction. To bind the colony together, they wrote an agreement for self-government, under God. It was a political covenant based on the Biblical model of covenant.
In this document, the Mayflower Compact, which was written “in the name of God” and in which they stated that they came “for the glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith,” they created a “civil body politic.”
Historians tell us that the Mayflower Compact was a key forerunner to the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. These in turn have led to a great deal of freedom for hundreds of millions of people to enjoy.
I once interviewed Dennis Prager of PragerU about America’s Judeo-Christian roots. He told me, “The Pilgrims founded America, for all intents and purposes.”
The great leader of the Pilgrims, William Bradford, wrote of the whole Pilgrim experience:

“Thus out of small beginnings greater things have been produced by His hand that made all things of nothing, and gives being to all things that are: and, as one small candle may light a thousand, so the light here kindled hath shone unto many, yea in some sort to our whole nation: let the glorious name of Jehovah have all the praise.”

As Americans, we do indeed have many reasons for celebrating thanksgiving to God for our freedom—notwithstanding attempts from the New York Times to distort our history. And it all began 400 years ago from this time. Not bad for a church relocation project.

Colorado County Refuses to Enforce Lockdowns as Civil Disobedience Spreads Across America

Weld County’s defiance came days before news broke that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is “furious” because a Brooklyn synagogue held a secret wedding.

Colorado officials last week announced that several counties had moved into the “red level”—the second-highest measurement on its COVID-19 dial—and would be forced to implement new regulations on restaurants, gyms, and other parts of the economy to combat the virus.
Then something remarkable happened. Weld County, a county in the northern part of the state with a population of roughly a quarter million people, politely said no.
“Instead, county government continues to do what it has done since March, which is promote and encourage residents and business owners to take individual responsibility and make decisions to protect themselves, their families, their community and their businesses,” the Board of Commissioners said in a statement.
With a test-positivity rate north of 16 percent, Weld County’s infection rate is well above the 5 percent threshold the World Health Organization uses as a benchmark for taking proactive measures to limit the spread of the virus. Nevertheless, county officials enumerated what they would not do.
“The county will not enforce a rule confining individuals to their homes for an undetermined length of time;
the county will not enforce a rule that states residents cannot have personal gatherings;
the county will not tell the school districts how to provide education to their students;
the county will not enforce a rule requiring a reduction of attendees in places of worship;
the county will not enforce a rule demanding restaurants close their indoor dining areas;
the county will not enforce any rule that forces a business to shut down or impedes their ability to operate.”
Weld County’s defiance came just days before news broke that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is “furious” because a Brooklyn synagogue reportedly held a secret wedding earlier this month “with thousands of unmasked guests” in attendance.
“If that happened, it was a blatant disregard of the law,” Cuomo said in a briefing. “It’s illegal. It was also disrespectful to the people of New York.”
Reports say the synagogue, the Yetev Lev temple in WIlliamsburg, has been fined $15,000.
In Buffalo, New York, a protest of some 50 business owners (and supporters) at a local gym turned into a tense confrontation when a health inspector and deputies arrived (apparently after receiving an anonymous complaint) and refused to leave.
According to the Buffalo News, neither the health inspector nor the deputies would specify what rules the gym owner or those in attendance had broken. Authorities eventually left without issuing citations as protesters chanted “Get Out! Get Out!”
The gym’s owner, Robby Dinero, said the gathering was old-fashioned civil disobedience against lockdowns.
“It absolutely was a protest” said Dinero, adding that enforcement of restrictions has been “arbitrary.”

The defiance against lockdowns has been a long time coming.
The reality is, enforcement of social distancing regulations has been arbitrary. We’ve watched over and over again as politicians have flaunted their own orders without penalty. We’ve seen social distancing exceptions made when a political cause was deemed important or simply worth celebrating.

This is both unjust and dangerous. The growth in government power and the decline in individual liberty witnessed these many months is unprecedented in modern history, as others have observed.
Fortunately, Americans and many other people around the world—from clergy in England meeting in secret to thousands in Berlin protesting COVID restrictions as they’re shot with water cannons—have simply had enough.

This is a good thing, but it’s also stressful. Just watching the confrontations like the one in Buffalo can make a cool-headed person feel tense. It can make the world feel chaotic and give the impression that the order in our world is slipping away.
In his book 12 Rules for Life, Jordan Peterson talks about these forces, order and chaos. Order, Peterson says, is a good thing. It gives our lives stability, structure, and a security humans need. Chaos, on the other hand, sets our world on tilt. It represents the unknown and can cause distress.
Peterson doesn’t end there, however. The chaos-order duality he describes is part of a yin-yang Taoist structure.
“Order, when pushed too far, when imbalanced, can also manifest itself destructively and terribly,” Peterson writes. “It does so as forced migration, the concentration camp, and the soul-devouring uniformity of the goose step.”
The role of the archetypal hero, Peterson explained in his earlier book Maps of Meaning, is not only to tame excessive chaos, but to break down excessive order:

“Terrible, chaotic forces lurk behind the facade of the normal world. These forces are kept at bay by maintenance of social order. The reign of order is insufficient, however, because order itself becomes overbearing and deadly, if allowed unregulated or permanent expression. The actions of the hero constitute an antidote to the deadly forces of chaos, and to the tyranny of order.”

This point is so important to Peterson that, while 12 Rules for Life was subtitled An Antidote to Chaos,” his upcoming book (which he just announced is available for pre-order) is titled, “Beyond Order.”
“Unlike my previous book, Beyond Order explores as its overarching theme how the dangers of too much security and control might be profitably avoided,” he says.
Lockdowns fit the model of a destructive order, one that has thrown the whole world into a kind of chaos. We can all feel it. And this is precisely why the lockdowns must be resisted—just like the commissioners in Weld County, the Orthodox Jews in Brooklyn, and the business owners in Buffalo.
Maybe this means sneaking across the Mississippi River to watch a Packer game in a bar in Wisconsin against state orders with your son, in a tavern where no one is wearing masks.
Maybe it means eating Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends despite a state order saying you must not, or simply choosing to not wear a mask in between bites of turkey, as public health officials recommend.

Maybe it means organizing peacefully with local businesses and holding an actual protest.
It doesn’t matter. Or rather, they all matter. The point is lockdowns are incredibly harmfulsoul-crushing, and the most expansive encroachment on personal freedom in modern history.
It’s past time Americans and humans everywhere embrace the radical philosophy of Henry David Thoreau, who taught us that the only true foundation of liberty is civil disobedience, a peaceful and passive form of political protest that rests on the simple refusal to follow unjust laws or pay unjust taxes.
“If the injustice is part of the necessary friction of the machine of government, let it go, let it go,” Thoreau wrote in Civil Disobedience, “perchance it will wear smooth–certainly the machine will wear out.”
