What has Global Warming got to do with the War against Hamas? thumbnail

What has Global Warming got to do with the War against Hamas?

By MercatorNet – Navigating Modern Complexities

In early April, an offshoot of the Just Stop Oil eco-activist group calling themselves Youth Demand descended upon the London HQ of the UK Labour Party and sprayed it all over with red paint. Its occupants had “blood on their hands”, they said. Apparently, the Labour Party, who are highly likely to form the next British Government come the General Election due later this year, were “threatening to continue [committing] genocide” once they were in office.

I didn’t realise they were committing it already.

What on earth was the Labour Party doing? For one thing, said Youth Demand, by failing to demand an immediate end to fossil fuel drilling across the nation, Labour was allegedly helping “kill hundreds of millions” thanks to climate change. But, equally, by failing to promise to call time on UK arms sales to Israel, Labour’s Shadow Cabinet was likewise facilitating the “mass murder” of innocent civilians (and equally innocent Hamas terrorists, no doubt) over in Gaza.

This conflation of environmentalism with the Israel-Gaza war does seem a rather strange campaigning tactic as the two issues have precisely nothing to do with one another. To link the two in only raises the danger of putting off people from supporting one of your causes by virtue of them not supporting the other one. It’s like a march upon Whitehall to demand the Government not only legalise cannabis immediately, and at the same time bring back hanging.

Some people may support Net Zero but also support Israel. Some people may support Hamas, but regard global warming as a hoax (I think in particular of Piers Corbyn, the crankish brother of former Far-Left Labour Party leader Jeremy). To risk splitting public support like this makes little political sense. Why not separate the two issues of Gaza and climate, as they should be?

How green is my Jordan Valley?

Ever since Hamas’ pogrom against Israel last October 7, Greens across the West have been having a similar heated debate. The movement’s current chief global figurehead, Greta Thunberg, everyone’s favourite Swedish apocalypse goblin, has been much criticised for engaging in needless stunts conflating environmentalism and Zionism.

The controversy has been particularly strong in Germany, where Green leaders from Greta’s own movement, the Fridays for Future school-strike organisation, felt compelled to put out a statement distancing themselves from her views, and reiterating their support for Israel’s right to exist. For obvious historical reasons, the accusation of anti-Semitism is one most mainstream figures in Germany are careful to avoid …

The November 18th edition of Germany’s leading news weekly, Der Spiegel, ran a lengthy article criticising Thunberg’s apparent Hamas-wards turn, accusing her of creating a “potential schism” within the Green movement. This investigation featured interviews with other young climate activists who had suddenly begun talking much more about saving the Gazans than saving the whales.

One 22-year-old Finnish activist featured, Ida Korhonen, openly admitted she had only really heard of the Israel-Palestine conflict a few weeks beforehand, boasting she got all of her information about the issue “from social networks, from Amnesty [International] and from Palestinian journalists on the scene.” What had such completely unbiased sources allowed Ida to discover? That Green activists “shouldn’t be talking about ourselves [i.e., our main actual cause of environmentalism] anymore, but only about Palestine … War against people is also always war against nature … There can be no [climate] justice without an end to the genocide against the Palestinians.”

What a Greta big fool

Greta Thunberg evidently agreed. In the immediate aftermath of Hamas’ October 7 attacks on Israel, she too had become an instant expert on the whole issue, posting tweets standing alongside fellow juvenile activists holding signs saying performatively progressive things like ‘STAND WITH GAZA’, ‘FREE PALESTINE’ and ‘CLIMATE JUSTICE NOW!’ (as well as posing with a supposedly ‘anti-Semitic octopus’ cuddly toy, but that’s another story).

Week 270. Today we strike in solidarity with Palestine and Gaza. The world needs to speak up and call for an immediate ceasefire, justice and freedom for Palestinians and all civilians affected.#FreePalestine #IStandWithPalestine #StandWithGaza #FridaysForFuture

— Greta Thunberg (@GretaThunberg) October 20, 2023

As a result of such provocation, the Israeli Education Ministry dropped all mention of the fallen child saint from their national curriculum for schools: I would question why she had ever been on it in the first place.

Yet, as so often, still Greta refused to shut up. In December, together with three other equally insufferable-sounding Swedish Fridays for Future activists, she penned an op-ed in the UK’s leading left-wing newspaper The Guardian, entitled ‘We won’t stop speaking out about Gaza’s suffering – there is no climate justice without human rights’.

Here, she took her critics to task for saying that, by talking about this new and separate issue, she was only damaging their wider original cause, cautioning that “Silence is complicity. You cannot be neutral in an unfolding genocide.”

Greta’s rationale here ran as follows:

“Despite these horrors [the alleged ‘genocide’ being perpetrated by Israel in the region], some have chosen to focus the public debate on attempts to delegitimise statements about Gaza made by young people in the climate justice movement. Contrary to what many have claimed, Fridays for Future has not ‘been radicalised’ or ‘become political’. We have always been political, because we have always been a movement for justice. Standing in solidarity with Palestinians and all affected civilians has never been in question for us. Advocating for climate justice fundamentally comes from a place of caring about people and their human rights. That means speaking up when people suffer, are forced to flee their homes or are killed – regardless of the cause.”

As if to ram home just how woke she now was, Thunberg ended her piece by ritually citing her pronouns (“she/her”, in case you were wondering – hardly surprising, as she is a female).

Clueless in Gaza

Had Greta gone fully intersectional? Evidently so, and the whole fact was clearly rubbing some people up the wrong way.

In November, after Thunberg had invited a kaffiyeh-wearing Palestinian woman onto the stage at a climate-rally she was holding in Amsterdam, she was interrupted by a male audience member who snatched her microphone and informed her, quite reasonably, that “I’ve come here for a climate demonstration, not a political view” about a wholly irrelevant issue in the Middle East. Greta took little notice, however, seizing the microphone back before leading the crowd in a chant of the rather bizarre-sounding slogan “No climate justice on occupied land!”

What do such slogans even mean? How on earth can you have “No climate justice” for humanity so long as Israel continues to rule the roost in the Holy Land? What has global warming – or indeed the ever-pressing issue of one’s sacred pronouns – got to do with a never-ending round of ethno-religious warfare in Gaza?

Nothing, really. Nothing at all.

But that didn’t stop Greta & Co trying to lump it all in together by making an extremely spurious argument to the effect that, by daring to defend themselves against Hamas’ original attack by bombing the terrorists right back, the Israelis were massively adding to the supposedly planet-killing problem of global warming by virtue of selfishly using rockets and missiles which emitted large amounts of CO₂ from their exhausts (as if there are any other kind; did the Greens really expect the Israelis to throw their ordnance by hand, or else hurl them all from slings, David vs Goliath-style?).

But the poor quality of the logic hardly matters, as the rationale underlying such overblown conflations of climate and anti-Zionism, of pronouns and warfare, is that of so-called ‘intersectionality’, the idea that, by adding up all the causes of the world’s supposed ‘oppressed’ people together, they will gain trade union-style strength in numbers, and become unbeatable (see my deeply sceptical explanatory article on the subject here).

So, supposedly, black people, homosexuals, feminists, the disabled and the mentally ill are all natural allies. Even people you may not have previously expected to be on the same side, like, say, Islamic terrorists and transgenderists, are supposedly united as natural allies against cisgender Western imperialism, along the basic logic that ‘my enemy’s enemy is my friend’.

Such thinking seems deeply misguided to me. All too often, ‘intersectionality’ is just a ridiculous and self-defeating process which will only end up alienating as many potential supporters from a cause they might otherwise support, as it will attracting any new ones to it. I’m sure we’ve all seen cases of ostensibly worthwhile charities, like Save the Children, whose campaigns we may until recently have been sympathetic towards, who have suddenly gone right to the bottom of our future donation lists because they suddenly became less concerned with actually Saving the Children, and more bothered about chemically castrating them along rainbow activist lines instead, or lecturing us all on the ins-and-outs of utter irrelevancies like Critical Race Theory.

In an open letter to Greta Thunberg, some irritated Israeli climate activists expressed similar sentiments:

“Due to her position, when Greta addresses a different topic superficially and dismissively, it inevitably weakens the validity of her climate-related positions. People from all walks of life might think that the shallowness she displayed on the other issue could cast doubt on the seriousness and depth of her climate activism. Those with vested interests could exploit this to portray climate activists as unserious and lacking depth. Therefore, even without addressing the ethical and moral implications she ignored, Greta is no longer a role model for us in the climate change context.”

Whilst I personally might be rather glad to see the whole overexaggerated climate-cult undermined in this wholly needless way, can today’s intersectional Greens really not see that, by promoting the causes of Hamas and Palestine, they might alienate many of their natural supporters likewise? If you were a Jew living in a Western city like London or New York today, scarred as they are by weekly anti-Semitic pro-Hamas hate-marches, what would you feel more threatened by? Islamism, or a hypothetical two degree raise in the Earth’s overall global temperature by 2100? Any pious young eco-intersectionalist who suddenly came along outside a synagogue rattling her tin to save the Palestinians rather than the pandas would surely be immediately told where they could shove their donation-box.

Why can’t intersectional idiots like Greta Thunberg just let their own main ideas and causes stand or fall on their own individual merit? Perhaps it is because, all too often, they don’t actually have very much genuine individual merit to speak of?

Democrats Thought Bragg Trial Would Sink Trump’s 2024 Campaign. Polling So Far Suggests Otherwise thumbnail

Democrats Thought Bragg Trial Would Sink Trump’s 2024 Campaign. Polling So Far Suggests Otherwise

By The Daily Caller

While Democrats may have hoped that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s prosecution of former President Donald Trump would hurt his 2024 campaign, recent polling shows the proceedings have failed to seriously impact the president’s chances.

Trump will enter his fourth week of the New York trial on Monday, where he faces 34 felony counts related to allegedly falsifying business records when reimbursing a payment to pornstar Stormy Daniels in 2016. Several polls released since the start of jury selection on April 15 have found that a potential conviction won’t deter voters from supporting Trump in November. Moreover, individuals nationwide say they don’t believe the former president acted illegally or is being treated fairly in Bragg’s case.

“Millions of Americans are hopping mad at this kangaroo court, and it shows in this recent polling data,” Mark Weaver, a veteran Republican strategist, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “When dozens of partisan players – most of whom are coordinating with the Biden White House or the Biden Justice Department – use taxpayer dollars and precious court resources to try and defeat Trump long before the voters can decide, it makes people understandably angry.”

An Emerson College poll out April 30 showed that a majority of swing-state voters across Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania said that a potential conviction in the case wouldn’t deter them from backing Trump in 2024. A plurality of independent voters — a crucial voting bloc in general elections — said a conviction would have “no impact” on whether they support the former president.

A CNN/SSRS poll released on April 25 indicated that 76% of registered voters who back Trump say they’ll cast a ballot for him regardless of a conviction in Bragg’s case. The survey also showed that a majority of Americans aren’t confident that the Manhattan jury can reach a fair verdict at 56%.

An AP/NORC survey published on April 16 found that only 35% of Americans think Trump acted illegally in regard to the New York allegations. The poll also indicated that just 31% of respondents are “extremely” or “very confident” that Trump is being treated fairly by the prosecution.

Some Democrats appear optimistic about Trump’s trial potentially hurting his standing among voters ahead of November while in turn helping Biden’s.

“Trump lost the popular vote twice and has a lot of ground to make up from his 2020 loss,” Jim Messina, campaign manager for former President Barack Obama’s reelection bid, told The Hill. “It’s going to be hard to move any swing voters while there’s wall-to-wall coverage of Trump campaigning from a courtroom.”

Democratic strategist Katie Grant Drew echoed some of Messina’s sentiment, and told the outlet that the trial “will provide a stark contrast between the priorities of President Biden, who will be focused on getting work done for the American people, and Trump, who will be focused on his own personal legal travails.”

Republican National Committee spokesperson Rachel Lee slammed Democrats for “hanging their hopes on a show trial, while voters see it for what it is: a political witch hunt.”

“Meanwhile, soaring Bidenflation is hitting Americans hard and Biden still has not condemned the pro-Hamas mobs wreaking havoc on college campuses nationwide,” Lee told the DCNF in a statement. “It’s no wonder why Joe Biden is losing to Donald J. Trump in every battleground state.”

Additionally, an NPR/PBS/Marist poll conducted between April 22 and April 25 found that a majority of Americans aren’t following Trump’s New York trial at 55% compared to 45% who are.

Scott Jennings, a GOP strategist and veteran of numerous campaigns, believes that while Trump getting “convicted won’t be helpful, necessarily,” there’s “no doubt this case is the least serious.”

“A liberal prosecutor using a novel legal theory to pursue felony charges against the leader of the opposition party and keep him from campaigning? Pretty ridiculous, honestly,” Jennings told the DCNF. “Far more consequential things are happening in the world. Biden has lost control of everything. And Democrats are out here trying to convict Trump of failing to file the proper sex paperwork. Give me a break.”

The prosecution is seeking to convey that Trump’s actions related to an alleged $130,000 payment to former porn star actress Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about an alleged affair were part of a broader scheme to interfere with the 2016 election.

Trump has been restricted from being on the campaign trail for the last few weeks due the court’s proceedings, and was fined $9,000 by Judge Juan Merchan for repeatedly violating a gag order. The former president was able to hold two rallies in Wisconsin and Michigan on Wednesday while the court was in recess.

Trump is currently leading Biden by 1.5 points in the RealClearPolitics average — which is slightly up from his previous 0.3-point margin when the trial began. The former president is ahead anywhere from one to 5.4 points in the battleground states of ArizonaGeorgiaNevadaNorth CarolinaMichiganWisconsin and Pennsylvania.

Kyle Kondik, nonpartisan polling analyst and managing editor for Sabato’s Crystal Ball, cautioned that the effects of the trial on the campaign will likely remain unknown until a verdict is reached.

“There’s very little indication that the trial has made any sort of impact on the electoral horse race,” Kondik told the DCNF. “We’ll have to wait for the verdict to see if there are any implications one way or the other – and, even then, it very well may not change anything.”

The Manhattan case is likely the only one Trump will have to go to trial for ahead of November, as the other three indictments over alleged mishandling of classified documents and alleged interference in the 2020 election have been delayed in court.

John McLaughlin, a Trump pollster and CEO of McLaughlin & Associates, told the DCNF that the former president’s “dignified defiance of the Biden prosecutions is making him a sympathetic figure.”

“The Biden campaign to prosecute and convict President Trump of a phony crime is backfiring. Biden will make Trump the Nelson Mandela of America,” McLaughlin said. “Joe Biden is corrupt and desperate and it shows.”

McLaughlin pointed the DCNF toward the latest national poll released on April 17 that shows 66% of voters believe the four indictments against Trump are politically motivated, as well as 53% who say Biden is trying to prevent the former president from winning another term by putting him in jail.

“They know if Biden can persecute President Trump, he could persecute any American,” McLaughlin added.

Mounting Evidence Is Pointing To A Nightmare Scenario For The US Economy thumbnail

Mounting Evidence Is Pointing To A Nightmare Scenario For The US Economy

By Will Kessler

The U.S. economy is showing signs of stagflation as growth slumps down and prices continue to surge for average Americans, experts told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
U.S. annual economic growth measured just 1.6% in the first quarter of 2024, following a report of persistently high inflation in March of 3.5% year-over-year. The combination of both low growth and high inflation, in conjunction with continuously high amounts of government spending and debt, has led to signs of stagflation in the U.S. economy, which wreaked havoc on U.S. consumers throughout the 1970’s, according to experts who spoke to the DCNF. (RELATED: Fed’s Preferred Inflation Gauge Surges Higher In Yet Another Worrying Sign For US Economy)

“It’s not so much that we risk stagflation as we’re already there,” E.J. Antoni, a research fellow at the Heritage Foundation’s Grover M. Hermann Center for the Federal Budget, told the DCNF. “We have basically pulled forward trillions of dollars of economic growth by borrowing from the future, but that must be repaid at some point. And it is highly inefficient as well.”

Stagflation is a unique economic phenomenon that involves slow growth, high unemployment, and elevated inflation and is particularly difficult to address as solutions for one issue can exacerbate the others, according to Investopedia. The most notable example of stagflation occurred in the 1970’s, after an oil crisis.

The U.S. national debt climbed above $34 trillion for the first time at the start of 2024 and currently sits at nearly $34.6 trillion, according to the Treasury Department. The national debt has increased by around $6.8 trillion since President Joe Biden first took office in January 2021.

“Stagflation is the inevitable result of Bidenomics,” Michael Faulkender, chief economist at the America First Policy Institute, told the DCNF. “When you massively increase spending, whether green subsidies or student loan forgiveness, while simultaneously reducing the ability of the economy to produce because of all the regulatory restrictions being imposed, you get reductions in growth with higher prices. If Bidenomics continues, then we should expect stagflation to continue.”

Biden has made high-spending policies part of his broader agenda, signing the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan in March 2021 and the $1.2 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in November 2021. The president also signed the Inflation Reduction Act in August 2022, which authorized $750 billion in new spending, with $370 billion of that dedicated to green initiatives to combat climate change.

The Biden administration’s latest plan to forgive student loans would cost an estimated $559 billion over the next ten years through various loan cancellations and interest suspensions. The president had one of his previous, more costly plans to forgive student loans struck down by the Supreme Court in June 2023.

Jai Kedia, a research fellow in the Center for Monetary and Financial Alternatives at the Cato Institute, cautioned the DCNF about assuming the U.S. was suffering from stagflation, noting that the phenomenon is usually accompanied by major supply shocks.

“The news on both fronts — inflation and output — is far from ideal, but there is no reason to think that we will get stagflation from just this one report,” Kedia told the DCNF. “When stagflation last occurred in the 1970s and early 1980s, the U.S. economy had significantly different characteristics. That era was marked by severe wage inflation and strong wage contracting at unsustainably high levels, driven primarily by labor union bargaining. Businesses passed those labor costs on to consumers, and since those wage increases weren’t the result of any productivity gains, the result was inflation with little economic growth. That unique situation is (hopefully) unlikely to occur again.”

Despite recent low growth figures, gross domestic product surged in the third and fourth quarters of 2023 to 3.4% and 4.9%, respectively. Economic growth projections in those quarters included huge gains from government spending.

“Today’s report shows the American economy remains strong, with continued steady and stable growth,” the White House said in a statement following Thursday’s GDP report. “The economy has grown more since I took office than at this point in any presidential term in the last 25 years — including 3% growth over the last year — while unemployment has stayed below 4% for more than two years. But we have more work to do. Costs are too high for working families, and I am fighting to lower them.”

Top-line job growth has remained high as well, with the U.S. most recently adding a total of 303,000 nonfarm payroll positions in March with an unemployment rate of 3.9% after adding 275,000 in February. Despite persistent growth, gains have been dominated by part-time jobs and employment from the government.

“In general, high inflation and low output occur as a result of severe supply shocks,” Kedia told the DCNF. “The Fed does not have much control over such shocks, and it’s usually best to avoid making drastic monetary policy decisions on the basis of such shocks. It’s too early to tell if such a shock has occurred over the past month, so it is unclear whether output has gone down due to supply constraints, or whether the increased borrowing costs have finally cut down on people’s consumption, or whether this was a noisy data observation.”

In an effort to reduce the rate of inflation, the Federal Reserve has already raised its federal funds rate to a range of 5.25% and 5.50%, the highest in 23 years, with the last hike being in July 2023. At the Federal Open Market Committee’s (FOMC) most recent meeting in March, the majority of Fed governors kept their estimate from December that there would be three rate cuts by the end of 2024.

“There is absolutely no reason for the Fed to cut rates this year besides the obvious political motivation,” Antoni told the DCNF. “Recall that during the first three years of the Trump presidency, the Fed was raising rates and selling off the balance sheet, also called ‘quantitative tightening.’ The reasoning for tighter monetary policy was fast labor market growth and inflation fears. Today, those indicators look even worse according to the Fed’s own thinking: job growth has been much faster according to official government metrics, and inflation remains far in excess of the 2.0% target, with inflation expectations completely unanchored. They should be talking about raising rates, not cutting them.”

A majority of investors now predict that there won’t be a rate cut until the FOMC’s September meeting as inflation remains persistent, according to CME Group’s FedWatch Tool.

Business leaders are cautious about the current state of the economy, with JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon saying on Friday that he is hopeful that the U.S. can bring down inflation and maintain growth, but he is worried about the possibility of stagflation, according to The Associated Press.

“Sadly, the indicators point to stagflation for quite some time because the excessive government spending that caused this problem isn’t letting up,” Antoni told the DCNF.

The White House deferred the DCNF to previous statements.

Biden: If You Like Your Appliances, You Can’t Keep Them thumbnail

Biden: If You Like Your Appliances, You Can’t Keep Them

By Peter Murphy

Editors’ Note: The greatest danger to freedom and prosperity is the environmental movement and its unholy union with the Administrative State. Since almost every human activity, including breathing and eating can influence C02 levels, the ginned-up crises allow the government to regulate to an unlimited degree. Not only are there no defined limits, the manner of regulations is largely through administrative agencies that embrace executive, legislative, and judicial functions all under the same roof. There is no division of powers to check unbridled power, no due process or rule of law, and no cost-benefit analysis. It allows politicians and bureaucrats the ability to constantly substitute their judgment for your judgment in almost every area of life, and have you pay for the consequences.

In the name of supposed efficiency and saving the planet from the fatuous prediction of a 1.5-degree average temperature increase in the next 26 years (give or take), the Biden administration has, from its beginning, declared war on Americans’ household appliances. As with so many other policies in the administration’s global warming arsenal, mandating invariably higher-cost household items is another dagger at Americans’ family budgets.

Last month, the U.S. Department of Energy released final “energy efficiency” requirements for residential washers and dryers that it claims will save consumers $39 billion in the next 30 years and reduce 71 metro tons of “harmful carbon emissions” over the same period, opined Energy Secretary, Jennifer Granholm. More fantastical than these numbers is her assertion that American households will reap $1 trillion (!) from forcing Americans to scrap all the household appliances in the administration’s crosshairs.

This is the same Secretary Granholm who lied to Congress about holding stocks in companies over which she has federal jurisdiction, and failed to disclose such holdings – yet kept her job. But I digress.

Last year, the Energy Department claimed its proposed energy standards for refrigerators, freezers, and commercial fans and blowers would reduce carbon emissions by 318 metric tons over the next 30 years. I would love to see that computer hodgepodge.

The government that can never accurately project the federal budget deficit six months hence somehow should be taken at face value about predicting lower carbon emissions in three decades? Go figure.

The washer and dryer standards become effective in 2028 and the refrigerator and freezer standards begin in 2029 at which time they are virtually guaranteed to cost more. More likely, these mandated appliances will increase energy usage to ensure clean and dry clothes and dishes since they will have to operate longer, as CFACT and others have long argued.

The recent Department actions on washers, dryers, refrigerators, and freezers follow similar proposals by the Biden administration to crack down on gas stoves and water heaters to fully electrify American homes and businesses. This, all in the name of fighting “dangerous carbon emissions” – you know, the same CO2 that makes the planet Earth livable for humans, animals, and plants.

Even Time magazine, a chief mouthpiece for climate fanaticism, acknowledges that these mandated appliances on washers and dryers “can cost more up front,” yet still parrots the Department’s assurances that they will save—wait for it—a whopping $425 in electric and water bills over the life of the appliance (unless your home uses well water, which means “saving” even less).

But that modest amount is still dubious. The American Gas Association (AGA) and Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) pushed back on the government’s claims about consumer savings as only “cents per month,” in energy use while facing higher installation costs, not to mention the cost of acquisition.

The federal government currently offers income tax credits to lower the price of some energy efficient home appliances and equipment, similar to what it does for purchasing an electric vehicle. This is one acknowledgment of the high price of these big-ticket items while it spreads the cost to all taxpayers to subsidize their purchase.

The Energy Department’s latest rules on washers and dryers came about after litigation from several states that the administration lacked congressional authority to impose such standards after it first attempted to repeal, in 2022, the more reasonable Trump administration efficiency regulations. AHAM then agreed, with a proverbial happy face, to the revised Biden efficiency standards, in conjunction with “consumer, climate and energy and water efficiency advocates” back in September.

In other words, the appliance industry caved to the heavy hand of the Biden administration to stave off more draconian, impractical mandates. Who can blame them?

The backdrop of this war on American appliances has zero to do with the sardonic claim of saving energy and water expenses, as it likely would do neither. Instead, the appliance mandates are another sacrament in the climate change religion.

Even if you stipulate that carbon emissions will drop by some outlandish guesswork of metric tons from using less energy, neither Jennifer Granholm nor anyone else riding the climate gravy train can scientifically assert global temperature will correspondingly decline three decades from now. But that won’t stop them from saying so.

Florida County Republican Registrations Report — April 2024 thumbnail

Florida County Republican Registrations Report — April 2024

By Steve Meyer

Executive Summary

Most of the registration data for this report is taken from the county supervisor of election’s websites after the close of the business day on the last day of the month. The Republican Party of Florida sent out a press release earlier this month saying that Madison County is now a majority Republican registrations County. Madison County had 14 fewer Republican registrations than Democrats registrations at the time of this data collection. There will be more details about Madison County in next month’s report.

Republicans need to implement the following items.

  1. Moratorium on the building of rental housing unless county-wide homeownership rates are greater than 85%.
  2. Change Florida election r
  3. Rules to have “universal primary contests” (multiple candidates from only one political party) and school board elections decided at the time of the general election and not at the time of the primary!
  4. Florida Republicans now hold an 902,445 registrations advantage over the Democrats, an increase of 14,152 relative registrations over the prior month.

Our April 2024 Report shows the following.

  • The chart shows graphically the change in active registrations since the 2022 book closing.
  • Table 1 lists Florida Counties by Republican registration margins relative to Democrat Registrations.
  • Table 2 shows how Florida Counties are performing relative to each other in Republican registration margin improvement (for example, St. Lucie County had the 57th best margin at the time of the 2022 election and now enjoys having the 43rd best margin of Florida’s 67 Counties).
  • Table 3 lists vote margin changes of Florida Counties between the last two presidential and gubernatorial elections
  • Table 4 lists Florida Counties in order by gains in Republican registrations and shows the associated registration changes for non-Republicans.
  • Table 5 presents various Republican registration and vote metrics on a percentage basis.

As of early May, there were 50 of the 120 state representative races that had only one candidate from the two major parties. This may be good for Republicans as Republicans are represented in 30 of these races.

The “Vote August” effort is an attempt to educate voters that by not voting at the time of the August primary they will generally have their vote disenfranchised in local elections. The disenfranchising of the general election-only voters by having elections decided in “universal primary contests” held at the time of the August primary is abhorrent!

Florida Voter Registrations

Note: the registrations numbers in this writing refer to active registrations, a subset of total registrations.

Florida Republicans continue the trend of making relative gains in active voter registrations as Republican registrations relative to Democrat registrations increased by 14,152 registrations in April and by 596,495 registrations since the book closing for the 2022 general election. Florida Republicans now have an 902,445 relative registrations advantage over the Democrats. Republican registrations were 38.94% of total registrations and Republicans now enjoy a 6.69% of total registrations advantage over the Democrats (see tables).

The Democrats lost 11,910 registrations in April, lost 624,117 registrations since the 2022 book closing, and 956,042 registrations since the 2020 election. The Republican registrations increased by 2,242 in April, and the number of registrations which are neither Republican nor Democrat increased by 4,348 registrations in April (see chart).

Note: Vote August! Please make plans to vote in the Florida non-presidential primary election in August. A subset of elections categorized as “universal primary contests” may be deadly (in a political sense) for conservative Republicans. In the name of fairness, the system should be changed. The only current options for conservative Republicans are for conservatives to vote in the August primary!

Statists Plan, Capitalists Adopt Rules

The recent death of former Florida Senator, and Governor, Bob Graham, recalls his efforts to deal with population growth and the associated real estate development required to house the greater numbers of people. I moved to Florida after Senator Graham retired from politics, and I am not at all familiar with him, but he seemed to have widespread admiration that crossed political boundaries.

I am very familiar with the growth (anti-growth) policies initiated under then Governor Graham’s gubernatorial administration. The Florida growth policies adopted in the mid to late 1980s and early 1990s were responsible for the huge political gains experienced by Democrats following the 1988 presidential election (an election Republican George H.W. Bush won in Florida by an over 22% margin).

Laws concerning growth in Florida prior to then Governor Graham will be described here as laissez-faire (minimal government involvement). These laws were criticized for haphazard development, and booms, and busts, in the real estate markets, but possibly appreciated for the resulting ability of people of average means to purchase a home.

Florida adopted non-capitalistic growth policies in the 1980s to be fully implemented by 1995. Non-capitalistic growth plans always create higher home prices. In the short-term, the higher home prices may have some positive effects, but over time, they force a larger percentage of the population into rental housing. Rental housing has negative economic ramifications, and outsized negative political ramifications, which intensify over time.

Laissez-faire is often wrongly associated with capitalism. Capitalism is an economic system based on private property and governed, not as laissez-faire, but by the rule of law. The rule of law is not the government dictating arbitrary rules that the people are forced to follow, (such as the Democrats forcing electric cars, stoves, and heat-pump water heaters on the population), but a set of rules developed to facilitate commerce.

Socialists, communists, and fascists plan! Capitalists develop rules of law!

Non-capitalistic housing policies result in markets that are not driven by supply and demand, but by politics. Florida has devolved into planning not to grow, but then growing anyway. This has resulted in insufficient infrastructure with the associated poor traffic. It has also created a shortage of affordable owner-occupied housing. Homeownership is foundational to our Republic.

The rule of law is favored over planning owing to planning is predicated on the impossibility of knowing the future. Unlike planning, capitalism does not try to predict the future, but allows for whatever the future brings.

Democrats know that keeping people in rentership is politically advantageous for them, so they will continue to support planning. Why Republicans don’t counter the Democrats’ planning with capitalist rules is an open question. The existence of the awful “universal primary contests” certainly doesn’t help the situation!

Let’s Evacuate Trump from New York

After the Biden Administration failed to evacuate Florida citizens from Haiti, Governor DeSantis undertook a seemingly successful state effort to do the job. Perhaps Gov. DeSantis can undertake a similar effort to evacuate former President Trump, a Florida citizen, from New York.

Why would Gov. DeSantis undertake such an effort? Just like Haiti, New York is lacking a fair and honest court system. Just like Haiti, a Florida citizen wants to be out of a lawless jurisdiction. Just like Haiti, New York is crime ridden.

Save Trump! Governor DeSantis, bring him home!

Holocaust Remembrance Day Video: Poland pilgrims face magnitude of death camps, today’s Hamas horrors

By NEWSRAEL Telling the Israeli Story

LUBLIN, MIEDZYRZEC, and TREBLINKA, Poland – Israel is commemorating Holocaust Remembrance Day this year on May 6th against the backdrop of the October 7th massacre.

Although the scale was smaller, it brought many back to the murder of Jews during the Holocaust and many Israelis felt the spirit was the same.

Shortly before the current war began, CBN News visited the site of Poland’s Treblinka death camp and the city of Lublin, where the Nazis ruled the country in the Second World War.

One part of Lublin became known as the German SS city due to the black-uniformed Nazi’s presence here.

David Pileggi, rector of Christ Church in Jerusalem, leads the Narrow Bridge historical tours of Poland, focusing on areas where the Jewish community lived and prospered for a thousand years and then the Holocaust happened.

He told CBN News, “It was from here (in Lublin) that they planned the murder of over two million Polish Jews. These were the desk murderers – people who were bureaucrats, secretaries, planners, junior officers. They arranged, for this murder to take place, and they were equally, if not more responsible, than those who actually did the physical killing.”

From here, SS squads would organize train timetables, dispatch killing units to Jewish towns, or round up Jews to eventually be sent to one of Poland’s death camps.

“Poland became the place of death because this is where most Jews in Europe lived. They lived in Poland, Central Europe, Eastern Europe. So this was simply a matter of convenience and logistics,” Pileggi stated.

One example is today a beautiful town square in Miedzyrzec, about 65 miles from Lublin, where the Nazis forced the Jewish people to come, stand, and wait for the train to take them to Treblinka.

From the surrounding villages, trains would transport tens of thousands of Jews through the woods to their ultimate destination of death.

The Treblinka death camp was only in operation for 15 months, but during that time, the Nazis murdered 925,000 Jews there.

Australian visitor Marion Sully told us, “I’ve known about the word Treblinka for many, many years.” But she insists just being aware of this history isn’t enough.

“And to be here now is to be really impacted, she said. “It’s probably the hardest thing that I need to do, is to acknowledge how evil and wicked men can become. Just not men, but women and, it could even happen so, to anyone.”

Kay Harris from Seattle, Washington, agreed. “Just the impact of how people who are just common, ordinary people can be so cold – for so long. And it’s just shocking and horrifying, and I think about the day that we live in and how parallel this could be to our time today,” Harris declared.

Teresa Gardner, director of Zion Center for Worship and the Arts in Charlotte, North Carolina, noted, “You can hear the numbers, but when you begin to understand the individuals, it impacts you in a whole different way and you realize – again – what was behind this evil, this destruction, the deception; and sadly and very disconcertingly, I believe we see some of those same things in the world today.”

Arizona’s Housing Market Is In Rough Shape thumbnail

Arizona’s Housing Market Is In Rough Shape

By Cameron Arcand

A new report is sounding the alarm on Arizona’s housing market.

The report from the Common Sense Institute, a conservative-leaning think tank, says that Arizona is losing its competitiveness that it once had. In addition, the report says that there is a “housing deficit of over 129,000 units” and found that the cost of a home in the Phoenix metropolitan area has gone up by 60% since 2020.

“Arizona’s housing market is standing on a cliff,” Glenn Farley, director of policy and research at the Common Sense Institute, said in a news release on the report. “Without acknowledging our supply issues and making needed policy changes, we risk worsening housing affordability and losing our competitive edge in attracting a skilled workforce.”

On the Housing Competitiveness Index that the institute does nationwide, Arizona went from 84 in 2011 and is now at a 61, which has been a decline over the years. According to the report, the index measures “hours to pay mortgage,” “hours to pay rent,” “housing shortage/surplus” and “[percentage of] permits of housing deficit/surplus.”

When it comes to what can be done to make housing improvements in Arizona, the think tank suggests that cutting back on certain housing regulations – such as with zoning and permits – could help.

In addition, they said that increasing the supply of homes under $300,000 could help the situation, as well as having more public-private collaboration on the issue.

Specifically, the report notes that even though there could be an “excess supply of homes” that range from $300,000 to $1,000,000 when looking at mortgage capacity for a household, “There are more households with the capacity to purchase homes under $300,000 than the available supply, indicating that more homes in the price range need to be built.”

Housing has been a hot-button issue at the state capitol this legislative session, as Gov. Katie Hobbs has both signed and vetoed housing-related bills.

Most notably, she vetoed the “Arizona Starter Homes Act”, which received some bipartisan support in the legislature, but critics argued it would give the state too much power of municipalities and other local bodies. Proponents of the bill said it would have cut back on regulations in an effort to increase supply and make housing more affordable.

Meanwhile, Hobbs signed a bill that would allow for buildings originally meant for businesses to be used for residential in some cases, the Arizona Capitol Times reported earlier this month.

Axios reported on Tuesday that the governor is also reportedly working with lawmakers and housing stakeholders to try and navigate the issue following her aforementioned veto.

Its Coal To The Rescue As Wind And Solar Fail To Keep The Lights On thumbnail

Its Coal To The Rescue As Wind And Solar Fail To Keep The Lights On

By Craig Rucker

Editors’ Note: Although the German experience is one we should all be aware of, problems in California, Oregon,  and Texas are closer to home. That underscores the need to elect conservatives to the Arizona Corporation Commission. We need dependable cheap power that is not weather dependent. Utility companies often seek government favor since they are highly regulated and if they can get subsidies, it is easier than sound business practices. In short, don’t expect private utility companies to protect your interests. They will do what the government wants them to do.

In Germany, they call it the “Energiewende,” meaning energy transition, and it doesn’t work.

Germans have been forced to come to grips with sober energy reality after binging on more than half a trillion Euros of so-called “alternative” energy, such as wind turbines and solar panels.  This dramatically increased the price of electricity and created a serious risk of blackouts.

Germany actually just announced plans to reactivate coal plants to provide reserve power and lower the risk of blackouts during the coming winter and years to come.

Bloomberg reports that:

Germany’s coal phase-out plans face a potential setback after the energy regulator predicted the country will need a lot more fossil-fuel power plants on standby to help keep the lights on in the coming years.

The need for so-called reserve capacity to cover shortfalls in wind and solar generation during the 2026/27 winter period is set to reach 9.2 gigawatts, double the amount put aside for the last heating season, the regulator said Tuesday. That’s even more than the 8.3 gigawatts of mainly coal-fired backup deployed in 2022, when Russia curbed pipelined natural gas supplies to Europe.

The solution the German government is pursuing is no solution at all — offsets!

Reuters reports that German  “coal-fired power plans will be reactivated and the government will make proposals by summer next year on how to offset increased carbon dioxide these plants will generate this winter.”

Germany will purchase some kind of offset certificates that will have no meaningful impact on the fact that German coal plants burn brown lignite, which is the dirtiest and least efficient variety of coal.  It is far inferior to the cleaner-burning hard black anthracite mined in America.

The German energy economy has fallen victim to conflicting Green ideologies.

As Germany invested a fortune in wind and solar which are unable to meet its energy needs, it simultaneously shut down clean, safe, functioning nuclear plants that were already paid for.

Germany provides a powerful energy lesson in what not to do.

Will America learn in time?

6 Former D.C. Military Officials Testify Trump’s Authority Was Curtailed Ahead of January 6th, 2021 thumbnail

6 Former D.C. Military Officials Testify Trump’s Authority Was Curtailed Ahead of January 6th, 2021

By Royal A. Brown III

Not a bit surprising to me since Pelosi and Schumer colluded to insure Jan 6th was a setup all way round including: no buildup of Capitol Police, no substantial Capitol Police leadership on site, poor barricades and blocking Trump’s offer for National Guard support.

Pelosi and Schumer are ones who should be indicted on RICO charges not Trump and Trump supporters.

Trump’s Authority as President Was Curtailed Ahead of Jan. 6, Says Former Military Official

Maj. Gen. Walker conveyed a request for assistance at around 1:50 p.m. on Jan. 6 but the Guard was not deployed to the Capitol until about 5:10 p.m.

By Tom Ozimek

Then-President Donald Trump’s authority was “curtailed” by military leaders as it relates to events on Jan. 6 according to Colonel Earl Matthews who spoke to The Daily Mail.

“I think a very plausible argument can be made that through no fault of his own, President Trump’s command authority over both the D.C. National Guard and the U.S. Army itself had been surreptitiously curtailed by the senior leadership of the Army on January 6, 2021,” Col. Matthews, told the publication in an exclusive May 3 interview.

“Army leadership had unreasonably anticipated an ‘unlawful order’ from the President, an order that the President had no plans to issue, and were preemptively seeking to curtail his discretion to issue such an order,” he alleged.

The remarks by Col. Matthews dovetail with the contents of a book written in mid-2021 titled “I Alone Can Fix It” that claims then-Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark Milley, and other military leaders informally planned for different ways to disobey potential orders issued by President Trump that they disagreed with.

The DOD did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Col. Matthews’s claims.

On Jan. 6, 2021, Col. Matthews was serving as the top attorney to Maj. Gen. William Walker, who at the time was the commanding general of the D.C. National Guard.

Biden Regime Launches Investigation of Columbia U for Discriminating Against — Hamas Supporters

By Jihad Watch

According to the Department of Education, celebrating the mass murder of Jews and issuing a call for “full solidarity” with a terrorist organization is “speech activity.”

Is anyone really surprised?

After weeks of bias intimidation by Hamas supporters aimed at Jewish students and faculty, including Khymani James, an encampment leader who had talked to Columbia University officials about killing Jews, the Biden administration’s Department of Education, with the inevitability of a rigged slot machine in Reno, is launching a “civil rights investigation” into the university for “extreme anti-Palestinian, anti-Arab, and Islamophobic harassment”.

The complaint comes from ‘Palestine Legal’, the same group providing advice to the encampment protesters.

It complains that “Columbia has reinforced the hostile anti-Palestinian environment, including by suspending Students for Justice in Palestine — a student organization that advocates for Palestinian human rights — for engaging in speech activity supporting Palestinian rights”

What sort of “speech activity” did Columbia University’s SJP chapter engage in?

After Oct 7, Students for Justice in Palestine hailed the Hamas rape of girls, murder of babies and kidnapping of children as a “historic win for the Palestinian resistance”.

The national organization which has 200 chapters on campuses across North America put out a ‘toolkit’ which explained that the Jewish victims were “not civilians” and could be freely targeted.

Its poster for a ‘Day of Resistance’ featured an image of the paraglider that Hamas terrorists had used to massacre and rape young Israelis at a music festival.

Columbia University’s Students for Justice in Palestine celebrated the “unprecedented historic moment for the Palestinians of Gaza” and asserted their “full solidarity with the Palestinian resistance”. It was also a signatory to the “victory or martyrdom” statement signed by the national organization.

According to the Department of Education, celebrating the mass murder of Jews and issuing a call for “full solidarity” with a terrorist organization is “speech activity”.

The Department of Education refuses to protect Jewish students from Hamas supporters, but rushes to protect Hamas supporters from Jewish students.

Every State Facing Deceptive, Unlimited Abortion Ballot Measures This November thumbnail

Every State Facing Deceptive, Unlimited Abortion Ballot Measures This November

By Jordan Boyd

Democrats and their abortion giant allies want to legalize killing unborn babies throughout all nine months of gestation in every state. A majority of U.S. adults reject that position, but that fact hasn’t stopped the ballot measure battle that plagued Ohio last year from infiltrating several other states, including those controlled by Republicans, during the 2024 election cycle.

On the Ballot

Florida

Florida voters will be asked come November 5 to weigh in on a state constitutional amendment declaring, “No law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient’s health, as determined by the patient’s healthcare provider.”

As with other abortion measures led by out-of-state activists, the path to the Sunshine State’s ballot measure involved deception and, in this case, fraudulent signatures. The amendment itself is laced with loose terms like “viability,” which can easily be exploited to ensure abortion at any point in gestation and includes language that does away with parental consent.

If the proposed amendment passes this fall, medical professionals in Florida could deem abortion at any stage of pregnancy necessary for a woman’s “health,” physical, emotional, or mental. If it fails, Florida’s heartbeat law will stand.

Maryland

Maryland is already one of the most pro-abortion states in the U.S., but a ballot measure up for vote on Election Day 2024 could make the state’s sweeping abortion provisions more permanent and prevent any limits from being enacted in the future.

The amendment in question seeks to enshrine an undefined “right to reproductive freedom” in the Declaration of Rights portion of the state constitution because it claims abortion is “a central component of an individual’s rights to liberty and equality.”

The proposal, which is strongly supported by abortion giant Planned Parenthood, also says the state “may not, directly or indirectly, deny, burden, or abridge the right unless justified by a compelling state interest achieved by the least restrictive means.”

New York

New York, similar to Maryland, already has unlimited abortion as long as a medical professional deems the life or health — physical or mental — of the mother at risk. Abortion activists are asking New Yorkers to further enshrine abortion in the state by ratifying an Equal Rights Amendment that would effectively prevent the government from enacting limits on baby-killing in the future.

The proposed amendment also includes broad language that could stop the state from banning transgender mutilation and chemical castration for children and would infringe on parents’ rights.

“Whether through Albany sloppiness — or pernicious ideological intent — Proposition One would strip the legal rights of parents with school-age children to know about crucially important things happening with their kids, including controversial gender transformation procedures,” the Coalition to Protect Kids told Fox News Digital.

Could Be on the Ballot

Arizona

Democrats, including Vice President Kamala Harris and outside abortion groups such as ACLU and Planned Parenthood, flocked to the Grand Canyon State this year to promote a measure that, if added to the 2024 ballot and passed, adds a “fundamental right to abortion” to the state constitution.

The sweeping language not only leaves the definition of “viability” up to the subjective judgment of a health care professional but also prevents the state from passing or enforcing laws punishing abortionists for killing babies.

Organizers have until July 3 to collect 383,923 valid signatures but already claim they hit the threshold necessary to add the amendment to the November ballot.

Arkansas

A majority of Americans say they believe abortion should be limited to 15 weeks. Abortion activists in Arkansas, however, are scrambling before July 5 to collect signatures for a ballot measure that would prohibit the state from regulating abortion until after 18 weeks gestation.

The proposed constitutional amendment also carves out exceptions, regardless of state statute, for abortion beyond 18 weeks for fatal fetal anomalies and the undefined “health” of the woman.

Colorado

Colorado currently offers unlimited abortion through all nine months of pregnancy to anyone who wants it, but that isn’t good enough for the activists leading the national constitutional amendment abortion campaign.

Organizers say they have enough verified signatures to add a constitutional amendment to the 2024 ballot that would not only hamper future efforts to limit abortion but also permit “abortion to be a covered service under health insurance plans.”

Missouri

Abortion in Missouri is banned except in cases of medical emergencies. A ballot measure introduced by the ill-named Missourians for Constitutional Freedom, however, seeks to enshrine abortion in the state constitution by adding a “right to reproductive freedom” that permits anyone to “make and carry out decisions about all matters relating to reproductive health care.”

Activists have until May 5 to collect the 171,500 valid signatures required to add the proposed amendment to the November 2024 ballot.

Montana

To retaliate against Montana’s Republican-controlled legislature for trying to pass pro-life protections, abortion activists introduced a ballot measure that seeks to amend the state constitution to “expressly provide a right to make and carry out decisions about one’s own pregnancy, including the right to abortion.”

Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen tried to invalidate the measure under Article XIV, Section 11 of the Montana constitution because he said it “logrolls multiple distinct political choices into a single initiative.” The state Supreme Court, however, overruled his findings and rewrote the language.

Abortion activists have until the June 21 deadline to collect signatures.

Nebraska

Abortion activists in Nebraska want a constitutional amendment that would “provide all persons the fundamental right to abortion without interference from the state” to be added to the 2024 ballot. The campaign, however, faces challenges from two other ballot measures that seek to protect unborn babies and mothers from the harms of abortion throughout pregnancy.

Organizers of all petitions must turn in their collected signatures for certification by July 5.

Nevada

Nevadans will know in July whether an effort to enshrine a “fundamental right to abortion” in the state constitution will make it on the November 2024 ballot.

Currently, abortion in Nevada is permitted at any gestation as long as “the physician has reasonable cause to believe an abortion is necessary to preserve the life or health of the pregnant person.” The proposed amendment would further shield abortion in the state from regulation or limit.

Even if the amendment makes the 2024 ballot and passes, it must undergo another vote in a subsequent general election to achieve full ratification.

South Dakota

Pro-life protections in South Dakota ban abortion except to save the life of the mother. A ballot measure that activists say has met the state’s May 7 threshold for signatures, however, hopes to change that.

The proposed amendment language declares the state should not have any say over abortions in the first trimester. Instead, it claims South Dakota should only be allowed to enforce abortion limits that “are reasonably related to the physical health of the pregnant woman” in the second trimester and “to preserve the life and health of the pregnant woman” in the third trimester.

Rancher Accused Of Killing Illegal Immigrant Wins Major Legal Victory thumbnail

Rancher Accused Of Killing Illegal Immigrant Wins Major Legal Victory

By Jason Hopkins

An Arizona rancher who was previously charged with fatally shooting an illegal immigrant on his property will not be retried, prosecutors declared.

George Alan Kelly, a 75-year-old Arizona rancher who was charged for the 2023 killing of a Mexican national who illegally crossed into the U.S. and encroached on his property, won’t be retried in court, prosecutors announced Monday. The decision comes after a deadlocked jury resulted in the judge declaring a mistrial earlier this month.

“Because of the unique circumstances and challenges surrounding this case, the Santa Cruz County Attorney’s Office has decided not to seek a retrial,” Deputy County Attorney Kimberly Hunley declared to County Superior Court Judge Thomas Fink, according to CBS News.

Kelly was charged on Jan. 30, 2023, for second-degree murder and aggravated assault after allegedly shooting unarmed illegal immigrant Gabriel Cuen-Buitimea, 48, as he was traveling through Kelly’s property near the Arizona-Mexico border.

Cuen-Buitimea was allegedly traveling with a group of illegal immigrants at the time, who ran away after spotting Border Patrol agents near the border where they had crossed. As they were running away from the federal agents, Cuen-Buitimea and his group were allegedly heading back to the southern border, passing through Kelly’s ranch.

While Kelly’s team claimed that he had only fired warning shots several yards above the group of migrants to protect him and his wife, prosecutors argued that the rancher recklessly fired his AK-47 from a distance of roughly 115 yards, allegedly striking Cuen-Buitimea in the back, resulting in the Mexican national’s death. (RELATED: ICE Removed Terror Suspect From Tracking Just Weeks After Entering Country)

After more than two days of deliberations, however, jurors were unable to reach a unanimous decision on a verdict. Judge Fink declared a mistrial on April 22.

Fink told prosecutors after the mistrial that their choices were to either retry the case or drop it altogether — with prosecutors ultimately choosing the latter.

Fink said a hearing would be scheduled to determine whether the case would be dismissed with prejudice, meaning it couldn’t be brought back to court. Brenna Larkin, Kelly’s defense attorney, informed the judge that she would request the case be dismissed with prejudice.

“We’re hoping we get the dismissal with prejudice, we’ll see how we go,” Larkin said, according to KOLD-TV. “I’m glad it’s over. We got the right result. I would have preferred a not guilty verdict and then this would be gone forever and then they would never have to worry about this.”

Videos/Pics: American flag defended by heroic college students

By: American Military News, may 2, 2024;

A group of college fraternity brothers defended the American flag at the University of North Carolina’s (UNC) Chapel Hill campus on Tuesday as pro-Palestinian protesters attempted to tear down the flag and put up the Palestinian flag. The fraternity brothers defended the flag for about an hour despite pro-Palestinian protesters repeatedly shouting profanities and throwing water at the college students.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Guillermo Estrada, a UNC student, shared an account of Tuesday’s incident. The college student, who is part of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, shared his perspective of the event, explaining that while he did not know everything about the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, he did not want to see the American flag disrespected by the protesters.

“Today was a sad yet empowering day at Chapel Hill. When I walked to class, I saw the Palestinian flag raised on our quad flag pole, and was immediately upset at the act that these ‘protestors’ had made. I cannot say I am fully educated on the Israel/Palestine conflict, but it upset me that my country’s flag was disrespected in order to advocate for another,” Estrada wrote. “Shortly after, Chancellor Roberts came with police officers to hang the flag once again. They were met with profanity, middle fingers, thrown bottles, rocks, and water.”

Estrada noted that after the American flag was raised back on the flagpole, people started singing “The Star-Spangled Banner.” However, he explained that after the college chancellor left, protesters once again began to remove the American flag and were “preparing to destroy it.”

The American flag has been raised again at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

“My fraternity brother and others ran over to hold it up, in order for it not to touch the ground,” Estrada said. “People began throwing water bottles at us, rocks, sticks, calling us profane names. We stood for an hour defending the flag so many fight to protect.”

Estrada explained that he had been raised in a military community and had witnessed the sacrifices that military members make for the nation. He added that his last day of class at UNC would be “memorable in knowing that my fraternity brothers and others fought to keep the flag up.” On the other hand, he said the day was also memorable as it showed him how many people “yearn” to disrespect the American flag.

Following the fraternity brothers’ defense of the American flag, a GoFundMe page was set up to fund a “rager” for the patriotic college students. The GoFundMe page states, “These boys… no, men, of the UNC Chapel Hill Pi Kappa Phi, gave the best to America and now they deserve the best.”

According to WRAL News, John Noonan, a national political figure with no connections to the fraternity, organized the sarcastic fundraising page.

Country music singer John Rich offered to perform a free concert for fraternity members after seeing a trending video circulating on social media of the fraternity members protecting the flag as protesters threw objects at them, Newsweek reported.

We have been overwhelmed by the sheer force of patriotism on display here. What started as a modest request to buy a few kegs for some great young guys has ballooned into an American cultural moment, with millions of people paying attention: blue and red, left and right, all of the above. Donations continue to pour in. Given the sheer scope of media interest in this story, we are posting this update.

First, people should understand that we organized this fundraiser independently. That has been misreported by certain press outlets. We aren’t brothers ourselves: just Americans who admire young people like the men of UNC fraternities — members from at least eight different houses, by our count, many of whom we’ve now met.

With over 12,000 donations and almost half a million dollars, it’s incumbent on us to disburse the money in a manner that is faithful to our donors’ intent: throwing these great guys a world class party that will echo across eternity. Fraternities will also have input on sending funds to some great charities in their name, foundations that are consistent with the fundraiser’s patriotic theme. A transparent independent entity that will include a board of directors, as well as representation from the fraternity organizations themselves, is in the process of being established to keep true to donor intent.

Volunteers have stepped up to process the avalanche of offers to contribute merchandise, entertainment, and more. A professional planner with long experience in managing complex events has been retained to organize and execute the logistics. Outreach has been made to both students and UNC officials to set a party date and venue. But with graduation just around the corner, final exams in full swing, and continued drama on campus, we think it is best to take our time and plan this right.

We’ve had our fun over the past 24 hours. There is nearly half a million in the bank. That is plenty to throw a killer party and give to some great charities. At midnight, we will close the GoFundMe to donations.

Thank you to Americans of all stripes for their support. Done right, it will truly be “one for the ages” — and will inspire Americans all over again.

FIREFIGHTERS TO TRUMP: ‘Sir, Save Us Please!’ … ‘You gotta win!’

By The Geller Report

“You gotta win!” firefighters cried.

Trump’s already won. So ask yourself, why doesn’t the Democrat party care how in the dirt Biden’s ratings are? Because they are that sure of the theft. Just look at the terrible actions they are taking – during an election year. Not to mention that Biden can barely string a coherent sentence together without a teleprompter. And even then. Ask yourself, what do they know?

Trump, bearing pizzas, met with cheers at Manhattan FDNY firehouse

By: Victor Nava and Steven Vago, NY Post,  May 2, 2024:

Former President Donald Trump was greeted with cheers Thursday as he delivered pizzas to a Manhattan firehouse after spending the day in court.

Trump, 77, arrived at FDNY’s Engine Co. 8, Ladder Co. 2 in Midtown with two Xeno’s Pizza boxes in hand at around 5:30 p.m.

The campaign had dropped off 10 boxes of different pizzas, including pepperoni, for the hungry first responders prior to his arrival.

Trump personally delivered two of the dozen pizzas his campaign dropped off at the FDNY’s Engine Company 8, Ladder Company 2, 8th Battalion firehouse Thursday.

“You gotta win!” one firefighter told Trump as he met with the battalion.

“Sir, save us please,” another implored.

The presumptive Republican nominee for president chatted with the firefighters, posed for photos and signed a daybook and other items during the 10 minute campaign stop.
“I love you all – special people,” Trump wrote in the daybook, above his signature.

The pizza was long gone before The Post caught up the first responders that met Trump.

“It was good, we enjoyed it,” a firefighter told The Post. “It’s always special when a president shows up at your place of work.”

“He’s a nice guy for coming by,” he added, describing Trump as “very personable.”

“He speaks to you not at you,” the firefighter said of the former president.

When asked his opinion of President Biden, the firefighter responded, “He tries.”

Biden to Let 100,000 Migrants Enroll in Obamacare

By: Newsmax, 03 May 2024:

Roughly 100,000 immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children are expected to enroll in the Affordable Care Act’s health insurance next year under a new directive the Biden administration released Friday.

The move took longer than promised to finalize and fell short of Democratic President Joe Biden’s initial proposal to allow those migrants to sign up for Medicaid, the health insurance program that provides nearly free coverage for the nation’s poorest people.

But it will allow thousands of migrants to access lucrative tax breaks when they sign up for coverage after the Affordable Care Act’s marketplace enrollment opens Nov. 1, just days ahead of the presidential election.

While it may help Biden boost his appeal at a crucial time among Latinos, a crucial voting bloc that Biden needs to turn out to win the election, the move is certain to prompt more criticism among conservatives about the president’s border and migrant policies.

The action opens up the marketplace to any participant in the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA, many of whom are Latino.

Xavier Becerra, the nation’s top health official, said Thursday that many of those migrants have delayed getting care because they have not had coverage.

“They incur higher costs and debts when they do finally receive care,” Becerra told reporters on a call. “Making Dreamers eligible to enroll in coverage will improve their health and well-being and strengthen the health and well-being of our nation and our economy.”

The administration’s action changes the definition of “lawfully present” so DACA participants can legally enroll in the marketplace exchange.

Then-President Barack Obama launched the DACA initiative to shield from deportation immigrants who were brought to the U.S. illegally by their parents as children and to allow them to work legally in the country. However, the immigrants, also known as “Dreamers,” were still ineligible for government-subsidized health insurance programs because they did not meet the definition of having a “lawful presence” in the U.S.

The administration decided not to expand eligibility for Medicaid for those migrants after receiving more than 20,000 comments on the proposal, senior officials said Thursday. Those officials declined to explain why the rule, which was first proposed last April, took so long to finalize. The delay meant the migrants were unable to enroll in the marketplace for coverage this year.

More than 800,000 of the migrants will be eligible to enroll in marketplace coverage but the administration predicts only 100,000 will actually sign up because some may get coverage through their workplace or other ways. Some may also be unable to afford coverage through the marketplace.

Other classes of immigrants, including asylum seekers and people with temporary protected status, are already eligible to purchase insurance through the marketplaces of the ACA, Obama’s 2010 health care law, often called “Obamacare.”

Get Off My Highway thumbnail

Get Off My Highway

By Bruce Bialosky

Those who know me, and regular readers should after all these years, know that I have an indelible spirit when it comes to my love and belief in America. While people from both sides of the political spectrum bemoan the downfall of our way of life or “our Democracy,” I laugh and shrug it off. I tell them “This is America, the greatest country ever invented. We will adjust and we will endure.” Recently I even flinched.

It is easy to question where we are heading with many of our society’s developments. The significant disregard for property rights is evidenced by the explosion of brazen theft attacks on our retailers. Likewise, the explosion of squatters believing they can occupy someone’s home without their consent. The worst part of this is the near-total emasculation of our policing authority with the demonstrative endorsement of many elected officials supposedly in the position to stop such acts.

There are people living on our streets in mass numbers. Our elected officials tell us they are working on the problem – the one they don’t understand. The one they think is a housing problem and not a drug and/or mental illness problem. The more billions they spend the worse it gets.

Our President decides to add more people to the housing issue by allowing millions of illegal aliens to enter the country and soak up municipal resources meant for services to maintain basic quality of life issues for the tax paying residents.

We now have people invading residential communities to protest in front of elected officials’ homes. This is with callous disregard for their neighbors who deserve quiet in their community. Yet our police refuse to remove the interlopers with some perverse idea this is a first amendment right. You have the right to protest at city hall, but not at someone’s residence with threats to family members and neighbors.

The special case of us going down a rat hole is illegal aliens attacking NYPD on camera and then let out on bail. Read that again slowly. Illegal.. Aliens.. attacked.. New York police officers… and were let out… with .. no.. BAIL. One might think we had gone bat ____ crazy.

What put me over the edge though were the recent protests. People have the protected right to protest. And the fact these protests are being done by raging anti-Semitic jerks has zero to do with my problem. The problem is where they are conducting these protests — namely at airport entrances, on highways, etc. These protests are blatantly illegal, and cops are just standing and staring. They should be pulling up with buses and paddy wagons and announcing the protestors have three minutes to leave or they will be escorted off to jail.

I was sitting at lunch reading and it hit me. Have we just lost it? Are we fried? I became emotionally overwhelmed. There are three things you don’t mess with for me. My family, my country, and my people (Jews). I am a person who cannot sing God Bless America without tearing up. Have these people so destroyed my country and everything that is right about it for their perverse idea that something is so wrong about it we need to turn it upside down?

I needed a therapy session. Not the kind you think. And there are few people in this country that understand the kind of challenge it takes to calm a public policy expert like me.

I had that discussion. It was very emotional. He (yes, it was a he) pointed out that he sees some signs people have seen the “light” as to our very deep dive. He pointed out that in the past we have righted the ship when people have said “enough is enough.” He stated while others sit on the sidelines, I, at least, am engaged and attempting to counter the ill behavior. He calmed me.

There are some signs of sanity setting in. The President of Columbia University had over a hundred protesters arrested and removed from her campus. Google fired 28 employees for disrupting company operations with their protests. The black, female mayor of Philadelphia has decided enough is enough and is working to reduce crime. Her only impediment is the clueless, Leftist DA Larry Krasner. And last, we have an excellent chance this fall to rid ourselves of the disease that is George Gascon, replacing him with Nathan Hochman to restore law and order in Los Angeles County.

As a somewhat aside, the protests on college campuses have received a large force of support from the Left expressing their civil rights. Like they conflate legal and illegal immigrants they are conflating this issue. No one has civil right to speak out and protest on private property. They skip right over that essential point to further their misguided goals.

We need to rise up and turn around some of these ridiculous things we have allowed to happen. A perfect example is the bail system. The bail system is not unfair to poor people. It is unfair to poor people who commit CRIMES. If poor people don’t want to be treated unfairly, they shouldn’t commit a crime. It is a simple concept. We need to stop putting people in positions of power that believe poor people commit crimes because they are poor. They commit crimes because they lost their clarity of what is right and wrong.

Folks, we need to turn this around. If we cannot arrest people who decide to stop traffic on a public highway then something is truly, truly wrong. Arrest them and lock them up. They will stop it. If you don’t, they will continue doing it. Simple concept. And it is the difference between whether or not we are going to save America.

Palestinian Refugees In The U.S.? Biden’s Potential Plan Takes Fire thumbnail

Palestinian Refugees In The U.S.? Biden’s Potential Plan Takes Fire

By Casey Harper

Editors’ Note:  Jordan and Egypt have refused to take them in, as have other Arab states.  With over 70% of Gaza residents supporting Hamas, this is tantamount to deliberately importing potential terrorists in the US.  There really is not way of vetting the true refugee from the terrorists. Why would Biden want to do that?

President Joe Biden is considering bringing Palestinian refugees into the U.S., but news of that potential decision sparked a wave of criticism for Biden.

A group of Republican lawmakers in the House and Senate sent a letter to the president condemning the alleged plan, which was reported by CBS News.

“U.S. and allied officials have very little access to Gazans living in the area, making it nearly impossible to conduct thorough vetting before admitting them into our country,” the letter said. “We must ensure Gazans with terrorist ties or sympathies are denied admission into the United States – no easy feat, given the fact that the Gazans were the ones who voted Hamas into power in 2006. Without thorough vetting, your administration may inadvertently accept terrorists posing as refugees into the interior.

“This is especially the case as Hamas terrorists have a long track record of co-mingling with civilian populations in Gaza,” the letter added.

Biden has been trying to navigate the difficult issue of the Israel-Hamas war, which reignited last fall when the terrorist group Hamas killed more than 1,000 Israelis, many of them civilians, and carried out rapes and other atrocities.

“With more than a third of Gazans supporting the Hamas militants, we are not confident that your administration can adequately vet this high-risk population for terrorist ties and sympathies before admitting them into the United States,” the letter said. “We are further worried that accepting Gazan refugees might cause a crisis at the Egypt-Gaza border, leading to chaos that would only empower Iran-backed Hamas.

Israel has responded with a sustained bombing campaign targeting Hamas members and leaders.

The humanitarian fallout of the war, though, has led many far-left advocates in the U.S. to occupy college campuses and more to push for an end to the bombing.

Hundreds of migrants with known or suspected terrorist ties have been caught trying to enter the U.S. in recent years through both the northern and southern border. With millions of migrants who have entered the U.S. undetected in recent years, it is unknown just how many are terrorists or have terrorist ties.

“Border officials have arrested 169 people on the FBI terror watch lists in Fiscal Year 2023, a record-setting number that exceeds the total of the last six fiscal years combined,” the letter said. “Apprehended terrorists include a Hezbollah fighter who intended ‘to make a bomb’ and was headed for New York.”

The lawmakers also questioned Biden’s efforts to rescue American hostages from the hands of Hamas, which is designated a terrorist group by the U.S. State Department.

“We are also frustrated that your administration is pushing ahead with a plan to evacuate Gazans from the Strip when there are still American citizens held hostage by Hamas,” the letter said. “We demand that your administration cease planning for accepting Gazan refugees until you adequately answer our concerns and focus your attention instead on securing the release of U.S. hostages held by Hamas.”

The Ruination of Plane Travel thumbnail

The Ruination of Plane Travel

By Jeffrey Tucker

The best time to write about how horrible plane travel has become is immediately following, or, in this case, during a scheduling and delay disaster that completely upends the routines of life.

When it doesn’t happen and your flight goes well, you just don’t care that much. But when you are in the thick of it – I’m writing now from a 36-hour international travel time on a 19-hour delayed domestic flight that just took off – it feels like the apocalypse.

It’s more common now than I can ever remember. I’m at the point of trying not to travel unless I have to because 3 of 5 of my trips these days seem to end up this way. I’ve come to expect disaster and so prepare for it. But most people start with the assumption that all is going to go well because that’s how it always worked in the past.

Consider the three young women attempting to travel with their foo-foo fluffy dogs who are their best friends. These dogs are well-behaved and perfectly gorgeous animals who manage the scene just fine. Unless there is a problem. When the food runs out and nature calls, it’s another matter. Airports don’t really provide areas for dog bathroom breaks. So the dogs and their owners begin to panic and cry. It’s truly horrible.

Then you have older people and their medicines and other special needs. They could be shots or otherwise and require special conditions. They might not have enough. They might have packed for a week of travel and run out just before the disaster strikes. There are no pharmacies in US airports that I’ve seen.

And then there are the families with young children. The kids are screaming, crying, miserable. The formula is out and the kid is hungry. There are no more diapers and no readily available changing rooms, and the human waste begins to get everywhere and there are no showers. The filth begins to affect everything.

Everyone has personal needs and every situation is different. There are fathers missing their sons’ Little League games, bridesmaids missing weddings, corporate executives missing important international meetings, people having to use their paid-time-off days, and happy vacation days ruined all around.

At every step, there are opportunities to spend more money, shops and bars ready to ding your credit card but have no regrets about your plight. They only make more money from disrupted plans. The airline employees feel bad but there is nothing you can do.

The most bizarre circumstance affected my flight. On landing previously, the oxygen masks suddenly fell from the ceiling. So maintenance had to come and check that out but of course there is a shortage of those people and they spend all day running from plane to plane to try to get the little lights to change from red to green. No one really understands how anything works so you just fiddle with things until the machine tells you it works.

That took many hours, and finally we boarded. The takeoff began and we were almost up in the air but another light went on in the cockpit. Apparently an emergency exit door had not been entirely shut so the entire flight had to be aborted just before we were in the air. We got off the plane. Then we had to wait for maintenance to show up again but they took forever.

The flight was delayed and the algorithms took over. Flights were automatically rebooked for hundreds of people. The instructions were flying like crazy: go to D37 and rebook, no E19 for a new flight, no D3 for this flight with a new crew, no D40 for a new plane, no wait here because the flight will leave in 30 minutes. With each new instruction, the crowd would disperse and run here and there over long distances only to return.

Getting mad makes no difference. The algorithms don’t care. They just crank out new instructions. Over the course of 7 hours, the delays and promises continued but it became obvious what was really going on. The airline does not actually want to cancel the flight because they would have to pay for hotels for everyone. Far better to delay that as long as possible and watch the crowd gradually disperse and pay for their own new plans.

Finally at 1:30am, they called it: canceled. Go to the other side of the airport and get your hotel and voucher for food. Arriving at the hotel, they gladly accepted the $12 voucher and the food and drinks that were right there at check-in. Yogurt: $12. Chips $12. Apple juice: $12. Everything was rigged to collect the fake money and get people to spend more. But, hey, you have a choice!

Time at the hotel was only 2 hours because the flight had been rebooked for 5:30am so everyone got up and got out the door without expecting the inevitable, which was that the flight was delayed until noon. Some people figured this out and went back to bed but others made their way back to the airport to sleep in some curled-up position in a chair, wearing the same clothes.

After this whole disaster, many people were lost on the way. The girls with the dogs vanished and so did many older people. The only people remaining were the strong and now very very sleepy, who then spent money on coffee to wake up and liquor to dull the pain.

At some point, one realizes that no one is actually making decisions here, so no one is really responsible. Machines are running everything and they are pitiless. The people in charge don’t run the machines; it’s the reverse. The algorithms are running us, the real bosses and they don’t give a flying puppy about your inconveniences.

The loudspeaker thanked us for our patience but there was no more patience. So this felt like a psyop. We were all brutalized from the scanning, the IDs, the security systems, the phones blowing up with new instructions, the spy cameras everywhere, the endless delays, and the sheer uncertainty of what was going to come next.

At some point, I was standing in an airport aisle and someone asked me to move out of the way. I turned around only to see a robot trying to make its way through, so I deferred to its wishes. As did everyone. The robots have more rights than we have. They have set it up this way.

The sadistic ruling class now running the show hates the ability of regular people to travel the way we did decades ago. Many top elites have dreamed of ending commercial plane travel completely because, they say, this would be good for the planet. But they dare not. Instead, a much easier path is to impose deep and abiding regret on everyone who’s willing to leave their 15-minute cities. This is the best path to closing the age of travel: a slowly drawn curtain on what we used to call civilization.

Of course they will still have their chartered jets that do not have to comply with any of the above, always leave and arrive on time, and probably even allow you to land with your tray table down. The Internet probably even works on those flights unlike ours.

Plane travel is now nothing like it was 5 years ago. The vaccine mandates drove many people from the industry and the lockdown-based supply chain and labor disruptions have left whole fleets in disrepair so that we have to take our chances. The inconveniences and brutalisms in the name of security take care of the rest.

It’s remarkable to consider that the high point of affordable, reliable, and convenient travel was more than 25 years ago. It’s been in decline ever since. All of it makes me long for a good solid train or boat trip, which we should all do before they get around to ruining those, too.

‘Election Interference’: Bragg Case Gag Order Puts Unprecedented Limitations On Trump Campaign thumbnail

‘Election Interference’: Bragg Case Gag Order Puts Unprecedented Limitations On Trump Campaign

By The Daily Caller

Allies close to former President Donald Trump are furious with the gag order imposed on him and his campaign by New York State Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan, telling the Daily Caller it is hamstringing his campaign like no other has been before.

On Tuesday, the start of week three of Trump’s Manhattan trial, Merchan held the 2024 Republican presidential nominee in contempt of court and issued a $9,000 fine for repeatedly violating a gag order. Merchan has also threatened jail time if Trump continues to violate the order.

Trump and his campaign have been barred from speaking about Matthew Colangelo, a lead prosecutor in the case who spent two years serving in the Biden administration’s Department of Justice (DOJ) as acting associate attorney general. After working near the top of the DOJ under Attorney General Merrick Garland, Colangelo joined the Manhattan District Attorney’s office as senior counsel in December 2022.

Many have raised questions about Colangelo’s move from DOJ to work in the Manhattan DA’s office at the same time District Attorney Alvin Bragg was investigating Trump for a $130,000 payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Bragg, who ran for office on convicting Trump as Manhattan District Attorney, indicted Trump on 34 counts of falsifying business records, all of which the former president plead not guilty to.

Trump and his campaign are also not allowed to speak about his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, or the jury. Cohen, who is a key witness in the case, has come under fire for discussing the case on TikTok while raising money for himself.

These limitations apply to the entire campaign, tying the hands of the Trump political operation to fight back on a critical issue in the presidential race, one source familiar with the situation told the Caller.

“The gag order says it applies to the president himself, and then it prevents him from instructing or ordering anybody else to do it. So, legally, that basically applies to anybody who works for him. And since he is considered basically the chairman of the campaign or the top dog on the campaign, the campaign applies to everybody who is on campaign staff.”

The source also said they know Democrats are watching Trump’s every move, including his social media posts and campaign website, and described the gag order as “probably the most explicit example of campaign interference, where you’re actually telling your campaign … what they can and can’t say.”

“The Democrats are following very closely, whatever is said on TRUTH social, whatever is posted on the campaign website, and then it’s immediately getting filtered up to Alvin Bragg who has very easy channels of communication, which are pretty firmly established between the Democrats and in his office,” the source familiar said.

The restrictions are unlike any placed on a presidential campaign before in American history and put Trump on the back foot, Mike Davis, founder and president of the Article III Project, told the Daily Caller.

“This unconstitutional and un-American gag order is yet another weapon used by Biden and his henchmen to silence his chief political rival, President Trump. Michael Cohen and others can go make money trashing Trump, yet he can’t respond due to this illegal gag order,” Davis said. “So as a result, all of Trump’s opposition can run roughshod over him without worrying about what Trump will say to counter their arguments. This gag order sets a dangerous precedent moving forward.”

The source familiar echoed that sentiment, stating the order “greatly prohibits” the ability of the campaign to fight back.

“The campaign can’t go out there and defend him from those attacks. The campaign can talk about the case, sure, but they can’t respond to the direct attacks against him, which is totally outrageous,” they said. “So it does not only violate the president’s First Amendment rights, but it’s a direct assault on the campaign and their ability to fight this trial in the middle of the election.”

The source familiar added that the gag order should embolden Trump’s supporters and allies who are not tied to the campaign to stand up for him, since Trump and his campaign legally cannot.

Garrett Ventry, a Republican strategist, said Democrats cannot beat Trump at the polls so they are now interfering with the election instead. He also mentioned that Merchan donated to Biden, and that Bragg campaigned on putting Trump in jail.

“Judge Merchan’s gag order against President Trump is wildly unconstitutional and it is the peak of election interference. The entire campaign they’re running against President Trump has been lawfare. They can’t beat him at the polls,” Ventry said. “Joe Biden’s numbers are tanking and we’re even seeing collusion, with the former number three at Joe Biden’s DOJ being one of the prosecutors on this case in the Manhattan DA’s office.”

“Think about this, too. Alvin Bragg ran his entire entire campaign on putting Donald Trump in jail even before these charges ever happened. So you have an unfair prosecutor, you have a Democrat judge who donated to Joe Biden, you have a pretty much Democrat jury pool all going after President Trump. People who hate him,” he continued. “He can’t expect a fair trial now and now he’s not even allowed to and his campaign is not even allowed to speak back and fight out against the Democrat law fair.”

The source familiar with the situation explained that a key part of the gag order is on the “potential participation” of witnesses, because it’s unclear to the campaign if and when certain witnesses will be called.

Another source told the Caller that it’s “a pretty firm bet” that Cohen is going to be called as a witness, saying “he’s the only ‘eyewitness’ to this entire case. Without him, they don’t have a case.”

“Judge Merchan’s unconstitutional gag order is an egregious violation of President Trump’s First Amendment rights and a direct assault on our campaign in the middle of the election. Unfortunately for Joe Biden and his corrupt Democrat cronies, their unprecedented weaponization of our government is backfiring, Americans see the truth about this sham show trial, and President Trump will ultimately win on November 5th,” Karoline Leavitt, National Press Secretary for the Trump campaign, told the Caller in regards to the gag order.

Ventry also said that Republicans in Congress “need to step up” and “use every tool and measure they have” to defend Trump and hold these “rogue judges and prosecutors accountable for blatant election interference and an unconstitutional gag order.”

House Judiciary Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan sent a letter Tuesday to Attorney General Merrick Garland, regarding Colangelo, requesting documents and communications from Colangelo’s tenure at the Biden DOJ.

The Caller obtained a copy of the letter before it was sent. Jordan demanded a number of personnel files related to Colangelo’s hiring, employment and termination at the DOJ, a number of documents and communications from January 2021 to December 2022, and documents and communications related to Trump or his organization.

Experts and Polls Agree that Dems’ Lawfare Campaign against Trump Isn’t Helping Biden

By Family Research Council

Democrats are waging a “lawfare” campaign against former President Donald Trump, but it may actually be hurting Joe Biden’s reelection efforts. According to the latest Harvard CAPS/Harris poll, voters will be largely split if a jury convicts the former president of crimes. If Trump were to be convicted either “of crimes related to his handling of classified presidential documents” or “for RICO in trying to influence the 2020 election results in Georgia,” voters would be split 50% to 50% between Trump and Biden. However, if Trump were to be convicted “for inciting the Capitol riots of January 6th,” he would beat Biden 52% to 48%.

Interestingly, the January iteration of the same poll showed that Trump would win if convicted in the first two cases but lose if convicted in the last. Those numbers shifted seemingly sporadically over the course of February and March, though in neither month did the survey predict a Biden victory. Of note, the number of registered Democrats voting against Trump if convicted “for inciting the Capitol riots of January 6th” dropped from 92% in January to a steady 86% over the past several months.

Mike Davis, founder of originalist constitutional think tank Article 3 Project, spoke on Monday’s episode of “Washington Watch with Tony Perkins” about Biden’s “lawfare” campaign against Trump. “President Biden’s fingerprints are directly on all four of these criminal prosecutions,” Davis claimed. “This is a criminal conspiracy by President Biden, his White House staff, his attorney general, his Justice Department, and these Democrat AGs in New York and Arizona, and these Democrat [district attorneys] in New York City and Fulton County, Georgia.” He continued, “They are violating the civil rights of President Trump, his co-defendant Walt Nauta, his 18 co-defendants in the Georgia case, these defendants in Arizona — this is a criminal conspiracy to violate their civil rights for the purpose of interfering in the election.”

“They waited 30 months to bring these unprecedented indictments. They timed — they tried to time — these trials back-to-back-to-back in 2024 during the heat of the presidential campaign. They wanted President Trump stuck in a courtroom like they’ve done in New York City,” Davis explained. Referring to how the “lawfare” campaign has impacted the Biden campaign, he added, “Now the rats are swimming back to the ship because it looks like this lawfare is backfiring spectacularly on these Democrats, including President Biden. It’s going to propel President Trump back into the White House, and I don’t think that’s what the Democrats intended.”

According to April’s Harvard CAPS/Harris poll, a majority of voters agreed that the prosecutions leveled against Trump are biased, unfair, and politically-motivated. Fifty-six percent of voters (including 57% of Independent voters and over a quarter of Democrats) said that the prosecutions against Trump are “politically motivated,” up from a steady 54% throughout March, February, and January.

A survey from McLaughlin and Associates, published in March, found that nearly 70% of Americans agree that the indictments and prosecution leveled against Trump are politically motivated, with almost 60% of voters (including almost 40% of Democrats) saying that Biden has played a role in the Trump prosecutions, 52% of voters saying that the “lawfare” campaign is designed to keep the 45th president from returning to the White House, and 56% of voters (including a third of Democrats) saying that Biden is trying “to stop President Trump from winning the election by putting him in jail…”

Other polls suggest that this may be true, with Trump taking a significant lead over Biden. For example, an Emerson College/The Hill survey released on Tuesday shows Trump besting Biden in seven swing states. Trump leads Biden in North Carolina by five points, in Arizona by four points, in Georgia by three points, in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin by two points, and in Michigan and Nevada by one point. The survey also found that a plurality of voters across all seven swing states believe the trial being conducted against Trump in New York City “is a witch hunt.” In only one state, Nevada, a narrow majority (51%) of voters said that the trial “is appropriate to hold Trump accountable.” The survey also found that if Trump were convicted in that trial, it would either have “no impact” on voters’ support for Trump or else make them “more likely” to vote for him. One third or fewer of voters responded that they would be “less likely” to vote for Trump if convicted.

Davis predicted that the New York City case, under Democratic District Attorney Alvin Bragg, would be the only case against Trump not tossed out by the courts. “The bottom line is this New York City Bragg case, this dog of a case in New York, may be the only case that gets to trial before the election,” Davis opined, adding, “This is their weakest, dumbest case.” Davis anticipated that the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on January 6-related cases would result in the cases that Special Counsel Jack Smith is prosecuting against Trump being dropped, and that the court would further rule that Trump could not be prosecuted for official acts during his presidency.

“The American people are going to put President Trump back in the White House on November 5, 2024,” Davis concluded. “And come January 20, 2025, when he is sworn in, there are going to be severe legal, political, and financial consequences for this Democrat lawfare and election interference. These are republic-ending tactics by the Democrats — and there must be consequences.”
