PERPETUAL WAR: Biden Announces New Ukraine Military Aid Package of Another $325 Million

By The Geller Report

Robbing Americans who can ill afford this rampant legal plunder to prop a brutal dictatorship. This is nothing short of war against our own country.

Billions for this evil clown (who closed the churches, imprisoned the priests, shut down the free press) and a big middle finger to Americans. America should be punishing this behavior not heaping billions, accolades and endless, sycophantic puff pieces in the government press.

U.S. announces new Ukraine military aid package of $325 million

By: Mike Brest, Washington Examiner, April 19, 2023:

The Biden administration has agreed to provide Ukraine with another $325 million of military equipment, officials announced on Wednesday.

This security package, which came via the presidential drawdown authority (meaning the weapons will come from existing U.S. stockpiles), provides Ukraine with more ammunition for U.S.-provided weapons, such as HIMARS, artillery rounds, anti-arms systems, small arms, logistics support vehicles, and maintenance support.

“We will continue to stand with our Ukrainian partners in response to Russia’s continued war of aggression,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement. “This new security assistance will enable Ukraine to continue to bravely defend itself in the face of Russia’s brutal, unprovoked and unjustified war. Russia could end its war today. Until Russia does, the United States and our allies and partners will stand united with Ukraine for as long as it takes.”

The administration’s announcement did not specify the quantity of munitions, but this package resembles other recent deliveries. This is the 36th package to come from the Defense Department’s stocks that will go to Ukraine since the war began in February 2022, and it brings the total U.S. military aid to nearly $36 billion.

This aid package comes days ahead of Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin’s meeting with defense leaders from across the globe. On Friday, he and Gen. Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will convene with the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, which meets monthly, this time at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, to discuss Ukraine’s latest needs in the war.

Ukraine is expected to launch its offensive in the coming weeks to recapture occupied territory, though the Pentagon has not painted overly optimistic expectations. Some classified documents regarding the status of the war were among the hundreds allegedly released by Massachusetts Air National Guardsman Jack Teixeira.

One document, labeled “top secret,” which was from early February, warned that large “force generation and sustainment shortfalls” make it more likely that their offensive will result in only “modest territorial gains,” according to the Washington Post. There’s also a document dated Feb. 23 that provided an insight into the fighting in Ukraine’s Donbas region, which predicted a “grinding campaign of attrition” by Russia that “is likely heading toward a stalemate, thwarting Moscow’s goal to capture the entire region in 2023.”

Another leaked document indicated Ukraine has, at times, had alarmingly low levels of Western-supplied weaponry, specifically air defense and ammunition.

De-dollarization Has Begun: Redux thumbnail

De-dollarization Has Begun: Redux

By Peter C. Earle

Last week’s article (“De-dollarization Has Begun”) produced a large number of comments and follow-up questions. Enough, in fact, that it feels necessary to address the most common of them in a follow-up piece. Some of these responses require a degree of speculation, while others are quite straightforward.

1. Is the reduction in use (or complete abandonment) of the dollar as the global reserve currency something I should be worried about?

Almost certainly not. A few points need to be made here. First, barring a truly extraordinary event or series of developments, a scenario in which the dollar is no longer used (at all) in international trade is highly unlikely. The prospect of such a thing happening in a short period of time – days, weeks, months, or even a few years – is virtually impossible.

The size and breadth of the US economy and our vast trading relationships virtually assure that to some extent or another, the dollar will remain, at the very least, among the top currencies used to denominate and/or settle global transactions. The power of path dependence in this context is demonstrated by the fact that the first-mover advantage imparted by the Bretton Woods agreement, which ended in 1971, remains in effect. There are high barriers to exit and switching costs, and presently much of the international commercial community, be it individuals, firms, or governments, “think” and calculate economically in dollars. If the dollar were to be cast off in favor of some other currency, the transformation would take decades, and possibly generations, to complete. There are far more pressing issues, economic and otherwise, for Americans to worry about.

2. What are the odds that the Chinese yuan will transplant the dollar as the currency of choice in world trade?

At present, even beyond the decades that such a change would probably take, the likelihood of the yuan becoming the global reserve currency ranges between profoundly unlikely to essentially impossible. The yuan is pegged to the US dollar, and thus does not float. In other words, its exchange value is not subject to market forces. That peg permits Chinese monetary authorities to adjust the currency value to benefit Chinese exports. Additionally, the Chinese capital account is closed, which essentially means that capital does not flow out without approval. These (and a handful of other characteristics) are simply not conducive to establishing a currency that will be used as a unit of account, medium of exchange, and/or basis for settlement in countless international transactions daily.

3. What are the most viable candidates among currencies to replace the dollar or take “market share” from it, if any?

Let’s return to two core assertions: first, that a more probable scenario is for the dollar to be joined by other currencies in a multi-reserve currency regime than to be replaced outright, and second, that the currencies of China (and others) that are pegged are improbable replacements for USD. It bears remembering that there are transactions of considerable volumes and sizes which take place in other currencies other than the dollar every day.

An estimated 95 percent of world dollar payments are settled via SWIFT (the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications). That’s an estimated 11,000 member institutions, in 200 nations and territories, transacting via some 42 million messages per day. The average daily amounts are estimated, in dollars, at about $5 trillion, or $1.25 quadrillion dollars per year.

Below is the average percentage of payments made daily in any number of currencies in the SWIFT system during February 2023. The US dollar and the euro clearly dominate global payments. And even 70+ years after ceding the top spot to the dollar, the pound sterling averages two to three times what the yuan, ruble, or even yen account for. (The white line representing ruble ends in early 2022, which coincides with the SWIFT ban.)

SWIFT payment shares in percent (Sept 2011 – Feb 2023)

The euro would need to take at least ten percent of the dollar’s current “market share” to equal the transaction volume of US dollars in the primary global financial payment system. That’s a tall order, representing as it does a shift of hundreds of billions of dollars per day from USD to EUR. One could also imagine the Canadian dollar, the Korean won, or the Swedish krona – all of which are unpegged and produced by economies with open capital accounts – increasing in their share of global transactions, but nevertheless remaining far too small to reach the proportions of the dollar or euro.

4. If the dollar were to lose its reserve currency status completely, or the share of the dollar’s use in international transactions were to plummet, wouldn’t we experience hyperinflation/deflationary collapse/a recession/a depression?

Neither the dollar nor America as a nation would disappear if the dollar were to somehow lose its perch, barring exceptional or unforeseen circumstances. The English pound is no longer the world’s reserve currency, and yet England and the pound are very much alive.

There’s no reason to believe that an economic disaster would necessarily result from less use of the dollar in global transactions, although the situation surrounding that decline factors into the outcome. Over time, less global demand for the dollar would result in a gradual depreciation of its value to some degree or another. That depreciation, depending upon whether mild or severe, would have certain effects. A mild depreciation would tend to make US exports more attractive to foreign consumers while imports would become more costly. A rapid depreciation would (among other problems) result in severe difficulties for producers and consumers – in particular where the production of sophisticated goods and services requires numerous inputs from around the world. There is also the possibility that the global demand for US government securities would decline as well, as was discussed in the previous article. Those effects could significantly impact both US fiscal and monetary policy over time.

5. If the yuan, ruble, and other currencies are no match for the dollar, why are some other countries beginning to transact in them?

It’s a question of tradeoffs. Transacting in less-liquid currencies is bound to be a bit more inefficient, more costly, and involve more underdeveloped (thus possibly error-prone) practices and technology than in established dollar or euro systems. But given the increasing use of the dollar as a means of imposing sanctions, some foreign powers see a pressing need to develop the capability to transact outside of US-dollar-based systems. We are witnessing the development of financial contingency plans.

The possibility also exists that recent Federal Reserve missteps, in particular those which led to the highest inflation in 40 years, are feeding an instinct to develop hedges against US monetary policy.

National pride is undoubtedly a factor as well. It’s probably difficult for autocratic regimes to convince their populations that everything is under control when most business is conducted in US dollars. (Imagine the dissonance arising of a state trying to convince its citizenry that it is protecting them from Yankee imperialists…even as most of the population eagerly seeks to acquire currency with pictures of Washington, Lincoln, or Hamilton on it.)

6. It sounds as if there really isn’t much to worry about. What’s the point of discussing this now?

New reserve currency ideas and proposals go back a long way. But recent developments suggest a distinct ratcheting-up of projects explicitly pursuing non-dollar trading relationships. The knock-on effects of changes of this sort, even developing gradually, may be more far-reaching than anyone may envision. This is especially the case considering that unleashing the full potential of comparative advantage requires trade. Taking note of these developments, even as they slowly unfold, is in the best interest of all Americans.

Two Street Riots, One Weekend: The Violent Legacy of Anti-Parent Policies thumbnail

Two Street Riots, One Weekend: The Violent Legacy of Anti-Parent Policies

By Family Research Council

Hundreds of people blocking streets, looting stores, and destroying property should not be normal occurrences. They are not normal in a peaceful, prosperous society. Alas, they are increasingly normal in America’s large cities. Unusually violent street incidents in Chicago and Los Angeles over the weekend illustrate the nation’s civilizational decline and point to at least one of the (many) causes.

Videos captured early Sunday morning show that a mob approximately 100 strong smashed through a glass door at an Arco gas station in Compton, California and ransacked the place while the overnight clerk hid in the bathroom. The “mob of looters … left a trail of destruction” at multiple stores, according to one local news report, while another said sheriff’s deputies received reports of gunshots in the area. Police arrived too late to stop the mayhem — not to mention being wildly outnumbered — but are reviewing video for possible charges.

The incident was apparently related to illegal street takeovers — at least three occurred Sunday night — connected to illegal street racing. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Clarence Williams said the street takeovers occur “just about every weekend.” Local resident Kevin Evans said of the perpetrators, “I don’t think they are Compton residents. We don’t tear up our own city like this.” (That hasn’t always been true.)

Meanwhile in Chicago, hundreds of teens swarmed the city’s downtown area on Saturday night, climbing on buses, smashing car windows, attacking bystanders, and generally creating chaos. Two teens were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds, while a woman said her husband was hospitalized after a crowd smashed their windshield and beat him severely. The under-age crowd attempted to enter Millennium Park, where people under 21 are not allowed without an adult. Assisted by SWAT teams, hundreds of Chicago police attempted to restore order and escort tourists to safety. Police arrested nine adults and six juveniles, a slim fraction of the lawbreakers that night.

Saturday’s violence wasn’t the first time. On Friday, “a similar gathering” of hundreds of teens at 31st Street Beach turned violent when a 14-year-old was shot, and other cars were damaged, including one set on fire. One eyewitness described “kids fighting, chasing each other, some of them got guns.” The incidents also echo last year’s “Teen Takeover,” when, Chicago’s downtown was plunged into “absolute chaos” as mayoral candidate Paul Vallas tweeted. “Juveniles jumping on top of buses, cars, terrorizing residents, tourists & businesses. These mass groups fought CPD [Chicago Police Department] & only minimal arrests were made.” Sadly, Chicago’s routine violence only receives widespread attention when it spills out into affluent neighborhoods.

Multiple eyewitnesses laid at least part of the blame for the Chicago chaos at the feet of parents. “What’s it going to take?” asked one witness. “The community has to step up, parents have to step up, we can’t keep blaming politicians and waiting on them.” Outgoing Mayor Lori Lightfoot made the same point. “Parents and guardians must know where their children are and be responsible for their actions. Instilling the important values of respect for people and property must begin at home.”

Another anonymous Chicago native perhaps said it best, “Where are their parents at? That’s my question.”

That’s a great question. First, it rightly intuits that parents bear a responsibility for their children’s moral formation.

Second, it points toward at least a piece of the solution: parents are absent because they have been shut out of a position of influence in their children’s lives — by design. Education experts believe they know better than parents and therefore can supersede a parent’s authority. “I have a master’s degree,” testified Arizona teacher Alicia Messing. “What do the parents have?” She added, “the purpose of public education is not to teach only what parents want their children to be taught, it is to teach them what society needs them to be taught.”

Left-wing politicians are 110% behind the arrogant absolutism of the Educrats. As former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe accidentally said out loud in the 2021 campaign, “I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.” Of course, that predictably unpopular narrative — McAuliffe lost his bid to retake the governor’s mansion — has leftists such as White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre or Education Secretary Miguel Cardona searching around for a more sympathetic framing. They much prefer a “parents versus Republican politicians” narrative to the “parents versus teachers” reality.

As a result, more than 5,000 schools now allow — or require! — teachers to hide a child’s gender identity from parents, according to a report by Parents Defending Education. Schools have stocked closets with clothing so that students can cross-dress at school to keep their gender identity secret from their parents. They have continued to stonewall parents, even after parents have sued them, or their children attempted suicide. One Wisconsin teacher posted in her classroom, “If your parents aren’t accepting of your identity, I’m your mom now.”

If parents lack the moral authority to even know when their children attempt suicide, how can they be expected to effectively steer their teens away from street crime?

Both Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and Chicago Public Schools (CPS) — which are also home to some of the nation’s most powerful teachers unions — endorse this radical, new agenda of hiding essential information about a students’ identity from their parents.

It gets worse. After undermining parental influence, many schools are training children up to be left-wing activists. New curricula, some of which has been promoted in mainstream media, not only claims that activism makes children better students and better citizens, but teaches them how to do it. It’s no accident that high school students — or even younger — routinely walk out of class to participate in left-wing protests; their teachers are training and encouraging them to do so. Sure enough, there is evidence — although they try to downplay it — that LAUSD and CPS are encouraging their students in activism. Why, then, are we surprised when youth in Los Angeles and Chicago take over the streets?

Illinois state Senator Robert Peters (D), the senate black caucus chair, explicitly identified the Chicago violence with political activism, “I would look at the behavior of young people as a political act and statement. It’s a mass protest against poverty and segregation.” There’s only one problem: the word for non-governmental actors employing violence in pursuit of a political objective is not “protest”; it’s “terrorism.” For that reason, let’s hope Mr. Peters is incorrect.

“One of God’s great gifts to humanity is restraint. And when those restraints are taken off of a society, horrible things happen,” Dr. Al Mohler said last week on “Washington Watch.” “Frankly, you look at America’s major cities, [and] you don’t see much restraint about anything.” This past weekend made his point.

Biden’s Utter Chaos Around the World thumbnail

Biden’s Utter Chaos Around the World

By The Geller Report

Victor Davis Hanson lists 10 ways the Biden Administration has crushed America’s deterrence, which has in a very short time destabilized the world. The list should have been expanded to include the Biden Administration’s handling of North Korea and Venezuela.

By The Blade, April 13, 2023

Why is French President Emmanuel Macron cozying up to China while trashing his oldest ally, the United States?

Why is there suddenly talk of discarding the dollar as the global currency?

Why are Japan and India shrugging that they cannot follow the United States’ lead in boycotting Russian oil?

Why is the president of Brazil traveling to China to pursue what he calls a “beautiful relationship”?

Why is Israel suddenly facing attacks from its enemies in all directions?

What happened to Turkey? Why is it threatening fellow NATO member Greece? Is it still a NATO ally, a mere neutral, or a de facto enemy?

Why are there suddenly nonstop Chinese threats toward Taiwan?

Why did Saudi Arabia conclude a new pact with Iran, its former archenemy?

Why is Egypt sending rockets to Russia to be used in Ukraine?

Since when did the Russians talk nonstop about the potential use of a tactical nuclear weapon?

Why is Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador bragging that millions of Mexicans have entered the United States, most of them illegally? And why is he interfering in U.S. elections by urging his expatriates to vote for Democrats?

Why and how, in just two years, have ad confused and often incoherent Joe Biden and his team created such global chaos?

Let us answer by listing 10 ways by which America lost all deterrence.

1) Joe Biden abruptly pulled all U.S. troops from Afghanistan. He left behind to the Taliban hundreds of Americans and thousands of pro-American Afghans. Biden abandoned billions of dollars in U.S. equipment, the largest air base in central Asia—recently retrofitted at a cost of $300 million—and a $1 billion embassy. Our government called such a debacle a success. The world disagreed and saw only humiliation.

2) The Biden Administration allowed a Chinese high-altitude spy balloon to traverse the continental United States, spying on key American military installations. The Chinese were defiant when caught and offered no apologies. In response, the Pentagon and the administration simply lied about the extent that China had surveilled top-secret sites.

3) In March 2021, at an Anchorage, Alaska mini-summit, Chinese diplomats unleashed a relentless barrage at their stunned and mostly silent American counterparts. They lectured the timid Biden Administration diplomats about American toxicity and hypocrisy. And they have defiantly refused to explain why and how their virology lab birthed the COVID virus that has killed tens of millions worldwide.

4) In June 2021, in response to Russian cyber-attacks against the United States, Biden meekly asked Putin to at least make off-limits certain critical American infrastructure.

5) When asked what he would do if Russia invaded Ukraine, Biden replied that the reaction would depend on whether the Russians conducted a “minor incursion.”

6) Between 2021 and 2022, Joe Biden serially insulted and bragged that he would not meet Muhammad bin Salman, the de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia, and one of our oldest and most valuable allies in the Middle East.

7) For much of 2021, the Biden Administration made it known that it was eager and ready to offer concessions to re-enter the dangerous Iran nuclear deal—at a time when Iran has joined China and Russia in a new geostrategic partnership.

8) Almost immediately upon inauguration, the administration moved the United States away from Israel, restored financial aid to radical Palestinians, and both publicly and privately alienated the current Netanyahu government.

9) In serial fashion, Biden stopped all construction on the border wall and opened the border. He made it known that illegal aliens were welcome to enter the United States unlawfully. Some 6-7 million did. He reinstated “catch and release.” And he did nothing about the Mexican cartel importation of fentanyl that has recently killed over 100,000 Americans per year.

10) In the last two years, the Pentagon has embarked on a woke agenda. The army is short by 15,000 in its annual recruitment quota. The defense budget has not kept up with inflation. One of the greatest intelligence leaks in U.S. history just occurred from the Pentagon.

The Pentagon refused to admit culpability and misled the country about Afghanistan and the Chinese spy balloon flight. The current chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff called his Chinese communist counterpart and head of the People’s Liberation Army to advise him that the U.S. military would warn the Chinese if it determined an order from its commander-in-chief Trump was inappropriate.

This list of these self-inflicted disasters could be easily expanded.

But the examples explain well enough why our emboldened enemies do not fear us, our triangulating allies judge us unreliable, and calculating neutrals assume America is in descent and too dangerous to join.

Yet without America, the result is a new Chinese order in which, to quote the historian Thucydides, “the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.”

Senator Marco Rubio: ‘No Precedent’ for Chinese ‘Police Stations’ in U.S. thumbnail

Senator Marco Rubio: ‘No Precedent’ for Chinese ‘Police Stations’ in U.S.

By Family Research Council

In the wake of the arrests of two alleged Chinese operatives who managed a clandestine “police station” in New York City earlier this week, U.S. lawmakers are expressing alarm about the Chinese government’s increased efforts to infiltrate American society on a variety of fronts, due in part to perceived weakness on the part of the Biden administration as well as financial ties between Chinese actors and American companies and officials.

As news spread of the arrests of the two individuals who allegedly worked under the direction of China’s Ministry of Public Security, a new report from the human rights group Safeguard Defenders indicated that there are likely at least six more secret Chinese outposts located across the U.S., including in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Houston as well as Nebraska and Minnesota.

On Tuesday, Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) joined “Washington Watch with Tony Perkins” to discuss the brazen nature of China’s incursion efforts.

“I think it should tell us that they have no limits to what they’re willing to do to further their agenda around the world,” he said. “They don’t respect boundaries and borders and other countries. So they basically had agents operating inside the United States for the purpose of harassing and, in many cases, trying to lure Chinese Americans back to the mainland of China, where they can then obviously do whatever it is they needed to do to punish them for speaking out against China, for having positions. In some cases, by the way, they’re harassing people in the U.S., Chinese Americans, because of what their relatives are doing back inside of China, like we’ve seen with Uyghur Muslims and the like. So it shows you we’ve reached the stage now where they’re not afraid to operate inside of our country in this manner. … I don’t know of any other precedent for it.”

Rubio further argued that the audacious nature China’s spying efforts are largely due to an American culture in decline.

“They watch our newscasts — I want to be frank — [and] watch our society and our culture imploding from within. They see we are a country obsessed with things that aren’t true, like men pretending to be women and all these other things. We have a president who cannot put sentences together coherently, an America that is constantly beating up on itself and talking about how terrible we are. They see a great power in decline, and they think that they are now strong enough that they can challenge us in this way. … [I]t’s a reality … that we’re going to have to do something about.”

As if to illustrate Rubio’s point, it came to light on Tuesday that a number of high-profile Democratic politicians appeared at fundraisers and lavish dinners with one of the accused operatives, “Harry” Lu Jianwang. Photos reveal that in 2022 and 2023, New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) met with Jianwang at multiple events in New York City. Public campaign finance records show that Jianwang donated $4,000 to Adams’s mayoral campaign between 2019 and 2021.

News of additional American financial entanglements with entities directly tied to the Chinese Communist Party came in March, when it was reported that Gotion, a Chinese electric vehicle battery manufacturer, would receive billions of dollars in inducements to build plants in Michigan. Former Michigan congressman Pete Hoekstra joined “Washington Watch” Tuesday to discuss the extent of the American financial incentives that the Chinese company is set to gain in the deal.

“Two battery plants that our governor [and] the legislature is pushing total close to $4 billion in tax incentives, infrastructure, and handouts to two Chinese manufacturers to build battery plants here in the state of Michigan,” explained Hoekstra, who formerly served as U.S. Ambassador to the Netherlands. “That’s roughly $400 for every single citizen … in the state of Michigan — meaning a family of five will be investing $2,000 into the Chinese Communist Party.”

As Hoekstra went on to observe, China isn’t the only known human rights abuser that is involved in the deal.

“Gotion is going to put an offer on the table for $10 billion for a number of different projects, including a project to mine lithium in Afghanistan,” he noted. “And this is all orchestrated through the Taliban. So imagine this Michigan taxpayer money going to Gotion, going to the Chinese Communist Party, going to Afghanistan, to mine lithium in a deal arranged by the Taliban. … I’d like to say it’s unbelievable, but it’s happening. … [T]he legislature may put the final touches on it in the coming days.”

Hoekstra also noted that both Democrats and Republicans in the Michigan legislature are responsible for coordinating the deal, which has yet to be fully approved due to grassroots backlash.

“[We need to] really offer support to the local folks,” he emphasized. “But the action item is to call our state legislature, Republicans and Democrats, and to say, ‘Don’t bring this up for a vote as a legislature.’ Pause this project or at least pause it until you can do a deep dive into the connections between the Chinese Communist Party and these so-called ‘economic development’ activities in the state of Michigan.”

‘One or Two’ Lab Leaks Most Likely Origins for COVID: Senate Report thumbnail

‘One or Two’ Lab Leaks Most Likely Origins for COVID: Senate Report

By Family Research Council

Senator Roger Marshall (R-Kans.) on Monday released a 301-page report concluding that COVID-19 “most likely” leaked from a lab weeks before China’s official narrative as the result of “one or possibly two” lab accidents. “We won’t be able to prove this in a criminal trial. But I do think there’s enough evidence, if this was a civil case, that we would convince a jury,” said Marshall of the report fittingly titled, “Muddy Waters.”

Conducted over 18 months by former Trump official Dr. Bob Kadlec, Dr. Bob Foster, and GOP staff on the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, the report concluded after studying the lab-leak theory as well as the natural origin theory, “The preponderance of circumstantial evidence supports an unintentional research-related incident.” The full senate report represents the fullest picture the American public has yet received of the evidence pointing in any direction; in earlier assessments from the U.S. intelligence community, only a summary was declassified.

The conditional nature of the lengthy study’s conclusions highlights the remaining uncertainty about the origins of COVID-19. “Every time I pick on China, we should look in the mirror because our own federal government has kept data from us, they wouldn’t show us information. They wouldn’t let us talk to the right people,” said Marshall.

The report didn’t discount the possibility of a natural origin without a fair hearing. It affirmed several data points that made the Hunan Seafood Market at least a plausible origin point. However, “the absence of key epidemiological and genetic data” led them to conclude this was unlikely. “Recent natural zoonotic spillovers of respiratory viruses with pandemic potential have left behind evidence of where and how they occurred,” they noted. Instead, they summarized, “the preponderance of information supports the plausibility of an unintentional research-related incident that likely resulted from failures of biosafety containment during SARS-CoV-2 vaccine-related research.”

The report described the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) as a lab-leak waiting to happen. By 2019, the lab had collected “approximately 20,000 … animal virus samples from across China,” which “underwent initial evaluation in BSL-2 settings … usually by graduate students.” The report added, “Widely accepted biosafety guidelines hold that initial evaluation of SARS-related bat coronaviruses should be conducted in at least BSL-3 laboratories because of the risk of creating infectious aerosols.” BSL-2 laboratories operate with lower safety standards than BSL-3 laboratories.

But WIV’s labs suffered from “neglected maintenance, insufficient operational funds, and a lack of specialized managers and engineers to operate BSL-3 labs,” complained Yuan Zhiming, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CCP) Committee of the Wuhan Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), in May 2019.

Aware of WIV’s safety and maintenance shortcomings, researchers attempted to retroactively address them, all while its biolabs remained fully operational. In 2019 they filed patents for correcting “existing door seals that developed slow leaks over time,” “a manually operated exhaust fan,” HEPA (high efficiency particulate air) filter disinfection, and mending the pressure cooker-like autoclave sterilizers, used for sterilizing equipment, which were “unable to achieve required sterilization temperatures,” had “potential leaks around the autoclave doors,” and accumulated “excessive condensation of autoclaved infectious materials.”

“It is very, very apparent that their biological safety training is minimal,” said Robert Hawley, “who for years oversaw safety programs at the U.S. Army’s maximum-containment lab at Fort Detrick, Md.”

Eventually, the problems at WIV came to the attention of the nation’s leaders. On November 19, 2019, a senior CCP official from Beijing relayed “important oral and written instructions” to WIV senior leadership in a special biosafety and security training session, which was “was followed by a two and a half day remedial biosafety training course for WIV researchers.”

By then, the disease may have already been spreading. The report noted “an increase in adult Influenza-Like-Illness (ILI) accompanied by negative laboratory influenza tests” in the week November 11-17, 2019 from a Wuhan hospital, “approximately 13 weeks before the peak incidence of COVID-19 cases in late January-early February 2020.” According to international data collected in 28 other countries, 13 weeks is “the average time from the introduction of SARS-CoV-2 [the COVID virus] to the maximum incidence of recognized cases.”

Officially, the report acknowledged, China holds that the first COVID-19 outbreak was “no earlier than December 8, 2019.”

However, “eyewitness accounts, media reports, epidemiological modeling and additional academic studies further support October 28 to November 10 as the window of emergence.” Some of the anecdotes come from government sources (emphasis added):

  • “The Deputy Consular Chief [at the U.S. Consulate General in Wuhan] recalled, ‘By mid-October 2019, the dedicated team at the U.S. Consulate General in Wuhan knew that the city had been struck by what was thought to be an unusually vicious flu season. The disease worsened in November.’”
  • “A January 2021 S. Department of State factsheet stated … ‘several researchers inside the WIV became sick in autumn 2019, before the first identified case of the outbreak, with symptoms consistent with both COVID-19 and common seasonal illnesses.’”
  • Unpublished People’s Republic of China (PRC) Government data identified the first COVID-19 case in mid-November. A veteran South China Morning Post reporter reviewed an official China CDC document that showed a 55-year-old from Hubei province contracted the virus on November 17, 2019.”

Some anecdotes were collected media reports about the situation in Wuhan (emphasis added):

  • “An Australian journalist interviewed a frontline Wuhan doctor who conveyed that he and his colleagues saw a growing number of patients exhibiting fever and respiratory difficulties in early November, 2019. The physicians realized that a coronavirus, likely SARS, was the causative agent by early December.”
  • “Two other media outlets published information from leaked hospital data from pneumonia patients in Wuhan with suspected COVID-19. These reports identified two separate suspected case-clusters in early October and November 2019.”
  • “A Wuhan University biostatistics professor gave an interview in which he discussed his work to compile a nationwide database of COVID-19 cases. According to the epidemiologist, several suspected cases predated the earliest official cases in December, 2019. ‘There were two patient cases in November, with onset on November 14 and November 21, 2019, and five or six cases before December 8, 2019.’”
  • “In August 2021, a veteran Washington Post policy columnist reported that at least one of the WIV researchers became ill in early November, 2019 and exhibited symptoms highly specific to COVID-19, including the loss of smell and ground-glass opacities in his lungs.”

Still other anecdotes measured the crisis with proxy variables (emphasis added):

  • “A June 2020 published Harvard University study found an unusual increase in Wuhan hospital traffic during [autumn 2019].”
  • Satellite imagery showed a significant increase in vehicles parked at major Wuhan hospitals – an indicator previously established as a proxy for hospital occupancy rates – in this period compared to October and November of 2018.”
  • Search queries made on the Chinese search engine Baidu for terms like ‘cough’ also increased substantially in October and November, 2019.”

The report contained one more reason to believe that COVID may have been circulating earlier than Chinese authorities admit. “People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Professor Zhou Yusen, Director of the 5th Institute at the Academy of Military Medical Sciences (AMMS), … submitted one of the first COVID-19 vaccine patents on February 24, 2020,” said the report. “Several experts assessed that Zhou likely would have had to start this vaccine development research no later than November 2019 to achieve the February patent submission date.” National Review’s Jim Geraghty called this revelation “the closest thing to a smoking gun” in the report.

The researchers considered other evidence supporting the lab leak hypothesis as well, such as a unique genetic marker in the COVID virus, SARS-Cov-2. “One of the notable genetic findings of SARS-CoV-2 is the presence of an FCS [furin cleavage site]. It is the first SARS-related beta coronavirus found with one,” but WIV had been attempting “to artificially insert genetic sequences for human furin cleavage [HFC] sites to evaluate their pandemic causing potential in SARS-related coronaviruses” since 2018.

In the end, the report settles on “two plausible scenarios” for a lab leak. First, they hypothesized that a “research-related incident occurred sometime before September 2019,” the virus was first isolated in the low-level lab. “This infection, while unlikely to have caused the COVID-19 pandemic, may have spurred the WIV and PRC government to undertake precautionary actions identified by this investigation and others,” they wrote.

Second, they hypothesized a “mid- to late October” spillover from the lab due to malfunctioning equipment, which provoked another round of security responses. A detail from a November 12 internal report suggested “the possibility of more than one research-related incident” when it indicated that “incidents involving ‘high pathogens’ requiring a response from the BSL-4 team had occurred.”

In any event, the report suggested that the poor quality of the WIV labs contributed to make any lab leak worse. “The identified underlying biosafety issues increased the likelihood that such containment failures were not immediately recognized,” they said. “The possibility of unrecognized biocontainment breaches combined with SARS-CoV-2’s clinical characteristics of asymptomatic and mild clinical illness in the majority of infections, likely confounded early recognition and containment of the initial outbreak.”

If these hypothetical scenarios strike close to the truth, then China has not only covered up the origins of COVID, but indirectly contributed to them through inadequate lab safety. The report repeatedly stated that none of the evidence it collected can definitively prove that the COVID virus came from a Chinese lab. However, they noted, “according to published research, the cause of over 80% of laboratory-acquired infections (LAI) are never conclusively determined.” To date, the 301 pages of research and 1,570 footnotes they published represent the fullest explanation Americans have been able to access.

China’s Massive ‘Terracotta Army’ Invasion of the U.S.A.

FOR YOUR ANALYSIS AND CONSIDERATION:

Why is China secretly sending a modern-day “Terracotta Army” across America’s Southern Border?

As many as 400,000 male military-aged Chinese nationals have illegally entered the U.S. since President Biden took office.

Why is President Biden Ignoring the Chinese Invasion at our Southern Border?

As many as 400,000 male military-aged Chinese nationals have illegally entered the US since President Biden took office. Why are they here? Where do their loyalties lie?

By @AMUSE

While the Biden administration is fixated on its proxy war in Ukraine, emptying both our ammunition stockpiles and our strategic petroleum reserve, China is quietly sending thousands of military-age males across our southern border. Just as the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang, built his secret terracotta army to accompany him in the afterlife President Xi is building a secret modern-day terracotta army right here in our backyard. The question our policymakers should be asking is WHY?

It is virtually impossible for Chinese nationals to leave China without permission much less buy an airline ticket to Ecuador and pay the $10,000-$30,000 cartels charge to cross the border. To purchase an airline ticket to Ecuador Chinese nationals must have a passport and an exit visa. Fewer than 10% of Chinese nationals have a passport and it is practically impossible to get an exit visa without an act of God. Somehow thousands of military-age men from China are booking tickets to Ecuador with nothing more than a backpack and a passport. Once they reach Ecuador they are met by CCP-backed NGOs who arrange their travel to the US border. Given these facts, it is almost certain that China’s Ministry of State Security is organizing and funding the invasion. U.S. Customs and Border Protection estimate that for every four illegal migrants they apprehend as many as six make it across the border unmolested. 2  In fact, it is common practice for cartels to notify CBP where they are dropping illegal migrants off so they’ll know where the CBP won’t be active. The cartels are then free to move their most valuable cargo—Chinese nationals and fentanyl safely across the border. 3  It is estimated that fewer than 1 in 10 Chinese nationals crossing the border are apprehended. That means with as many as 90 Chinese nationals caught per day as many as 900 are making it into the US. 4  Unfortunately, the 90 that are caught are promptly released as they claim they are pro-democracy activists who would be killed if they returned to China. According to the CBP, there could be as many as 400,000 military-age men from China here in America with more arriving each day. 5 Once these Chinese nationals are in the US they are monitored and supervised by a network of Chinese aid organizations. Six years ago China’s Communist Party began a concerted program to fill both domestic and international NGOs with loyal party members in an effort to spread its influence and control. 6  Additionally, China has opened more than 100 police stations in countries around the world including the US. 7 In the US they’re typically called ‘aid stations’ and provide a connection between the hundreds of thousands of illegal Chinese nationals and the Communist Party—kidnapping and returning those that turn their back on the party. 8 The situation at our southern border is a humanitarian and economic crisis of epic proportions—but it is ALSO a huge security risk. The 400,000 military-aged males who have already arrived are just the tip of the iceberg as China has 34 million more men than women—men who desperately want a better life in America. But where are their true loyalties? What would happen if China decided to invade Taiwan? Could the 400,000 Chinese nationals living outside of the law here in the United States be activated? What are they capable of accomplishing? We’ve seen how easy it is to sabotage our power grids, water supply, and even railroads. 9  It is past time to secure our border and determine what risk the massive modern-day terracotta army Xi has built here in America poses to our national security.

Chinese suppliers, with unofficial approval from the Ministry of State Security, send various fentanyl precursors (ANPP and NPP) and synthetic opioids (U-47700) via cargo ships to Ecuador where the cartels process the precursors into saleable drugs bound for the US. 1  The cartels then charge as much as $30,000 to smuggle a single Chinese national along with fentanyl and/or fentanyl precursors through Columbia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico. U.S. Customs and Border Protection estimate that for every four illegal migrants they apprehend as many as six make it across the border unmolested. 2  In fact, it is common practice for cartels to notify CBP where they are dropping illegal migrants off so they’ll know where the CBP won’t be active. The Biden 10-Step Plan for Global Chaos thumbnail

The Biden 10-Step Plan for Global Chaos

By Victor Davis Hanson

Why and how, in just two years, have a confused and often incoherent Joe Biden and his team created such global chaos?

NEW YORK CITY: Pro-Jihad Rallygoers Chant for the Total Destruction of Israel [Video]

By Jihad Watch

This would result in a new genocide of Jews. Leftists, heedless of that fact or indifferent to it, happily join in the chant.

MEMRI, April 8, 2023:

On April 8, 2023, a rally titled “Hands Off Al-Aqsa” was held by several pro-Palestinian organizations in New York City. At the rally, footage of which was posted to the Christopher Leon Johnson YouTube channel on April 8, 2023, speakers praised the Palestinian “resistance” and its “martyrs.”

American-Palestinian activist Sireen Sawalha, the sister of Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist Iyad Sawalha, praised her brother, saying he had been a “hero” and a “freedom-fighter”. Iyad Sawalha, killed by Israeli security forces in 2002, had been responsible for the deaths of dozens of Israelis in several terrorist attacks, including two bus bombings. Sireen Sawalha led the crowd in the chant: “With our spirit and our blood, we will redeem you, oh Palestine!”

An American activist named “Ruqayya” from Al-Awda NY praised “martyrs” and “heroes” Bassel al-Araj (killed in gunfight with Israeli forces in 2017), Ibrahim Al-Nabulsi (killed by Israeli forces in August 2022), and Iyad Sawalha. She said: “We will continue to applaud the bravery and the resilience of the resistance and freedom fighters.” She added that there will never be peace until the Palestinian people have the right to “return to their homes and lands […] in every corner of the land of Palestine from the [Jordan] River to the [Mediterranean] Sea.” An activist named “Nay” from the Palestinian Youth Movement said: “We proudly uplift our people’s resistance and commend their steadfastness […] until every inch of the colonized land is liberated.”

The rally was endorsed by several organizations, including NY4Palestine, Palestinian American CC, Within Our Lifetime, Samidoun, CAIR NY, CAIR NJ, ICNA CSJ, Jewish Voices for Peace NYC, Jews for Palestine Right of Return, MAS NY, NNJ DSA BDS & Palestine Sol. WG, and United American Indians of New England.

Sireen Sawalha: “I want you to know Iyad Sawalha from Jenin, this was my brother.

[…]

“I want to condemn the media when they say he was a terrorist – he was a freedom fighter.

[…]

“He was a hero, he lived all his life to see his country free. So, free, free Palestine!”

Crowd: “Free, free Palestine!”

Sireen Sawalha: “With our souls and our blood, we will redeem you, oh Palestine!”

Crowd: “With our souls and our blood, we will redeem you, oh Palestine!”

[…]

Ruqayya: “It is the Palestinian vanguard, which are our freedom fighters and political prisoners, who are the future of a liberated Palestine. This also [includes] our martyrs, who are honored every day. We remember our heroes, Bassel Al-Araj, Ibrahim Al-Nabulsi, also Sireen’s brother Iyad, and countless others, for their bravery, resistance, and resilience.

[…]

“We will continue to applaud their bravery and the resilience of our resistance and freedom fighters who are on the frontlines, facing the brutal violence committed by the paramilitary colonial forces. While they are resisting in Palestine, we must resist and do our part here.

[…]

“There will never be peace in the region until that injustice is ended, until the Palestinian people have the right to return to their homes and lands and live safe in freedom in every corner of the land of Palestine from the [Jordan] River to the [Mediterranean] Sea!”

[…]

Nay: “How much violence are Palestinians expected to endure before their right to resist is acknowledged? Their right to resist – again – by any means necessary. Why are Palestinians expected to take their oppression in silence, and why do some people only speak of Palestinians’ oppression, but denounce or stay silent when it comes to their resistance? We are witnessing a shift in the regional orientation to Palestinian resistance. The legacy of the May 2021 uprising has shifted the equation from one isolated Palestinian faction versus the Zionist forces, to multiple unified fronts confronting a broken and internally fragmented entity. Once again, we cannot shout: ‘Free Palestine,’ and then fall silent when it comes to uplifting resistance and acts of decolonization. We proudly uplift our people’s resistance and commend their steadfastness in the face of colonial aggression, until every inch of colonized land is liberated. From the water [of the Jordan River] to the water [of the Mediterranean Sea] Palestine is Arab!”

Crowd: “Palestine is Arab!”

The Fed Is Bankrupt thumbnail

The Fed Is Bankrupt

By Thomas L. Hogan

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell recently testified before Congress on the current state of the US economy. In addition to monetary policy, Powell was questioned about the Fed’s regulatory proposals regarding cryptocurrencies and climate-related financial risks.

Barely mentioned, however, was the Fed’s balance sheet. The Fed has experienced significant operating losses over the last six months, which have exhausted its existing capital. Those losses represent foregone revenue to the US Treasury.

Operating losses
In the post-pandemic period, the Fed expanded the money supply significantly to support a swift economic recovery. It did so by purchasing vast amounts of US Treasury bonds and mortgage-backed securities. While those assets seemed like good investments at first, they are now a major hole in the Fed’s financial position.

When the bulk of the Fed’s quantitative easing (QE) programs took place in 2020 and 2021, market rates on long-term Treasury bonds fluctuated mostly in the range of 1.5 to 2.0 percent. At the time, the Fed was paying interest on bank reserves and overnight reverse repurchase (ONRRP) agreements of 0.15 or less. The Fed profited on the difference between the higher rate it received from its bond purchases minus the lower rates it paid on reserves and Overnight Reverse Repurchases (ONRRPs).

Now, the Fed has raised the interest it pays to 4.55 percent on ONRRPs and 4.65 percent on bank reserves, but the rates it earns on its QE purchases remain mostly unchanged. Assuming, as a rough approximation, that the bonds it purchased pay an average rate of 1.75 percent, and the average rate paid on bank reserves and ONRRPs is 4.6 percent, then the Fed is paying about 2.85 percent per year more than it receives on its $8 trillion dollar securities portfolio. That’s a loss of $228 billion per year!

The bankrupt central bank
The Fed is bankrupt — and I don’t just mean intellectually.

Like a private bank, the Fed maintains some level of capital as a buffer against losses. When those losses exceed the value of its capital, the Fed becomes insolvent, meaning the liabilities it owes to others are greater than the total value of the assets it holds.

The most recent data show that the Fed owes the Treasury over $41 billion, which exceeds its total capital. The Fed, by common standards, is indeed insolvent.

Deceptively deferred assets
What does the Fed do when its liabilities exceed its assets? It doesn’t go into legal bankruptcy like a private company would. Instead, it creates fictitious accounts on the assets side of its balance sheet, known as “deferred assets,” to offset its increasing liabilities.

Deferred assets represent cash inflows the Fed expects in the future that will offset funds it owes to the Treasury. As the Fed describes, “the deferred asset is the amount of net earnings the Reserve Banks will need to realize before their remittances to the US Treasury resume.” The Fed had already accrued $41 billion in deferred assets, and the amount is only getting larger.

The advantage to deferred assets is that the Fed can continue its normal operations without disruption, although considering the 40-year-high inflation, its recent performance has been less than ideal.

The disadvantage is that, at a time when the Fed is already worsening the US fiscal position by raising interest rates (and therefore interest payments on the federal debt), it is further robbing the Treasury of revenues by deferring them into the future. Those deferred payments, of course, must be shouldered by American taxpayers until the Fed’s remittances resume.

These losses may be offset by any previous gains on the Fed’s QE portfolio, but assessing the net effects of those actions is even more difficult. QE has created massive distortions in the financial system. The Fed’s interest rate tools of interest on bank reserves and ONRRPs have significantly curtailed short-term lending in the banking and financial systems.

A job for Congress?
In addition to its role in managing the money supply, the Fed is the primary regulator of most US banks. If any private bank behaved this irresponsibly, regulators, such as the Fed or Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), would force it to close. Bank managers would lose their jobs and incomes.

Clearly, Congress is not planning to shut down the Fed, and is unlikely to punish it for its poor performance, but there are changes that could be made. The banks that are members of the Federal Reserve System could be forced to cover the capital shortfall, as described in the Federal Reserve Act. The Fed could return to a corridor system of monetary policy, resulting in lower interest paid on bank reserves and ONRRPs relative to market rates and therefore fewer reserves held at the Fed.

Shrinking the Fed’s balance sheet would make another Fed insolvency less likely, while also reducing the Fed’s footprint and the distortions it creates in the financial system. At very least, Fed officials should better manage its operations so as not to be a drain on American taxpayers again in the future.

Biden’s HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra Violated The Hatch Act, Office of Special Counsel Says

By The Daily Caller

Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra violated the Hatch Act after he advocated for the election of a Democrat, a new investigation found.

Special Counsel Henry J. Kerner said in a letter to President Joe Biden that Becerra spoke “in his official capacity” at an awards gala in September of 2022, breaking the law.

“As explained in the accompanying report, OSC concluded that Secretary Becerra violated the Hatch Act by expressing support for Senator Alex Padilla’s reelection while speaking in his official capacity at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Annual Awards Gala on September 15, 2022,” Kerner wrote.

“In delivering his speech, Secretary Becerra impermissibly mixed his personal electoral preference with official remarks,” the letter continued. “While federal employees are permitted to express support for candidates when speaking in their personal capacity, the Hatch Act restricts employees from doing so when speaking as a government official.”

— Philip Bump (@pbump) April 18, 2023

“With a presidential election approaching next year, this report offers an opportunity to deter violations by reminding federal employees at all levels of the Hatch Act’s restrictions.”

Becerra said he regrets his “inadvertent violation,” according to The Washington Post.

“While I did not realize at the time that my off-the-cuff remarks concerning my personal voting intentions were in violation of the Hatch Act, I now understand why they were not permitted.”

U.S. Army Teaching Officers at Fort Leavenworth that White People Can’t Experience Racism thumbnail

U.S. Army Teaching Officers at Fort Leavenworth that White People Can’t Experience Racism

By Royal A. Brown III

Apparently these people have never heard of the teachings of the racist, Marxist BLM, CRT, DEI which promote hate and violence towards our country and that target white, black, Asian and Hispanic conservatives and other people considered to be “oppressors” as well as the TRUTH.

Let’s hope these officers are still capable of critical thinking rather than being brainwashed!

Army teaching officers that white people can’t experience racism — AmericanMilitaryNews.com

The U.S. Army at the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth is teaching officers in intermediate level education (ILE) that white people can’t experience racism, defining racism as “a complex system of believes and behaviors that result in the oppression of people of color and benefit the dominant group.”

The definition of racism is taught in an elective course called “Race and Gender in U.S. Military History,” which is available for up to 32 students each year. The course is taught by Angela Riotto, an assistant professor at the college, according to TRMLX, who first reported on the course.

The course description states that “an effective military only functions under the principles of equality and inclusion.”

“Manpower policy regarding inclusion and equality has only changed when forced to by the necessities of war or from outside social and political influence,” it continues. “This course will examine the history of service of minority groups and women in the U.S. Military, major amendments to manpower policy, and historic problems with presenting a less than unified force.”

Lt. Col. Josh Camara told American Military News in an email that the course is “discussion-based” and said it “provides a historical overview of minority groups and women in the U.S. Military.”

“Definitions for terms like ‘racism’, ‘sex’, and ‘gender’ provided in this class are used as baseline definitions to facilitate discussion on this topic. Students are intellectually challenged, and not taught to accept any one point of view, but to critically examine and discuss sometimes controversial concepts in the coursework,” Camara said.

The course also defines gender as “a set of socially constructed characteristics, such as norms and behaviors, typically associated with being masculine, feminine, androgynous, or other.”

“The Command and General Staff College is at the forefront of building Army leaders ready to fight and win our nation’s wars,” Camara told American Military News in an email. “Students receive top-of-the-line instruction from some of the very best minds in the country. Training is regularly updated to provide engaging, and relevant courses that prepare Army leaders to succeed in a wide range of challenging environments.”

In order to become qualified for a promotion to Lieutenant Colonel, Army Majors must attend ILE, according to the FY 23 ILE Enrollment Guide.

“The Command and General Staff Officer Course (CGSOC) is the Army’s graduate-level curriculum and instruction for field grade officers and is commonly referred to as Intermediate Level Education (ILE),” the guide states. “It is the next required professional military education course to be completed after Captains Career Course. ILE Educates and trains leaders to conduct Decisive Action in a JIIM environment and advances the art and science of the profession of arms to support the operational requirements of the Army.”

Camara told American Military News that definitions for the course come from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and provided a link to the department’s “Key DEI Terms.” “DEI” is an acronym for “diversity, equity and inclusion.”

Other DEI definitions listed on the HHS website include:

  • Antiracism “is the policy or practice of actively and consciously opposing racism and promoting racial equity.”
  • Social justice “is a vision of a society that distributes equal resources to all individuals.”
  • Undocumented “is a foreign-born person living in a country without legal citizenship status.”
  • Cisgender “refers to a people whose assigned sex at birth aligns with their gender identity.”
  • Gender identity “is one’s internal sense of being a man, a woman, neither of these, both, or another gender(s). Gender is a social—not biological—construct.”
  • Heteronormativity “is the assumption that heterosexuality is natural, ideal, or superior to other sexual preferences.”
  • Misgendering “is referring to or using language to describe a transgender person that doesn’t align with their affirmed gender—for example, calling a transgender woman ‘he’ or ‘him.’”
  • Non-binary “refers to a person whose gender is neither only male nor only female.”
  • Sex assigned at birth “is the biological category (female, male, or intersex) given at birth based on biological characteristics (i.e., physical anatomy and hormones).”
  • Environmental racism “is the disproportionate impact of environmental hazards on people of color.”

Pro-Border Security Sheriff Announces Run for US Senate Against Prominent Incumbent thumbnail

Pro-Border Security Sheriff Announces Run for US Senate Against Prominent Incumbent

By Virginia Allen

Sheriff Mark Lamb of Pinal County, Arizona, a strong advocate for border security, is running for U.S. Senate in 2024.

If Lamb wins the Republican nomination, he will face off against incumbent Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, a former Democrat who left the party to become an independent last year.

“Arizona needs a proven conservative fighter that’s going to stand up for the people of Arizona, and honestly, that’s going to fight for the values that we espouse, which is God, family, [and] freedom,” he told The Daily Signal.

The sheriff filed with the Federal Election Commission on Monday and announced his campaign in a two-minute video on Tuesday, telling voters, “Washington needs a new sheriff in town.”

“We need leaders in this country that aren’t too politically correct to protect us,” Lamb said in the video, “and that’s why I’m running for the United States Senate.”

If elected, “the first priority is representing the people of Arizona, focus[ing] on what America was built on, which is the Constitution,” he said. “I think if you look at the pressing matter, the kitchen table items for not just Arizonans, but Americans, I mean, obviously, [are] the border crisis [and] fentanyl.”

Lamb is no stranger to the fentanyl crisis in America. As the sheriff of Pinal County, located between Phoenix and Tucson, Lamb regularly deals with drug smugglers and cartel members crossing the border from Mexico and bringing drugs onto his community. He also says the drug crisis in America has affected his own family.

“[O]ur son Cooper struggled with drug addiction. He even spent time in my jail for an issue stemming from fentanyl abuse,” Lamb said, after sharing in the campaign video that his son and 1-year-old granddaughter died in a car crash.

“I know what deadly drugs and the criminals peddling them are doing to families and communities. I know what it did to my family,” the county lawman said.

Lamb is a vocal critic of the Biden administration’s border policies and testified before the House Homeland Security Committee on Feb. 28, raising concerns over a dramatic spike in the amount of fentanyl flooding into his community.

The federal Customs and Border Protection agency has seized 106,000 pounds of drugs, including 11,000 pounds of fentanyl, at the southern border just since the start of fiscal year 2023 on Oct. 1.

Asked how he would respond to criticism over his qualifications to be a senator, Lamb said, “I have run an agency with over 600 employees, a $55 million budget,” referring to his sheriff’s department. “[Pinal County is] the size of the state of Connecticut. I will tell you, it’s bigger than any senator’s office or budget, and I’ve been doing legislation.”

“I’ve worked with Republicans and Democrats … . I think that I bring the most experience when you talk about not just the border, but when you talk about having to work with people, not just in your own county, but on a state level. I think I’ve become uniquely qualified for that,” he said.

Sinema defeated her Republican rival, Martha McSally, in 2018, garnering 50.0% of the vote, with McSally taking 47.6%. Though Sinema has yet to formally announce her bid for reelection, she is raising money for a campaign.

“I’m running my race right now,” Lamb told The Daily Signal, adding, “I’m focused on what I have to do.”

U.S. Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., announced in January his plans to run as a Democrat for the Senate seat.

TERRORISM: Dairy Farm Explosion Kills 18,000 Cows

By The Geller Report

Another attack on our food supply.

At least 18,000 cattle were killed Monday night when an explosion occurred at the Southfork Dairy Farm in Dimmitt, Texas. This is the deadliest barn fire involving cattle ever, according to the Animal Welfare Institute (AWI).

By Kevin Downey Jr. 4:39 PM on April 13, 2023

The blast occurred in a holding area at the farm where the cows were being kept prior to milking. While some cows were able to escape the fire, many were injured and had to be put down. One employee was critically injured in the blast and is being treated at a nearby hospital.

Brutal Farm Fire Kills 18,000 Cows

The South Fork Dairy Farm — located near Dimmitt, Texas — lost 18,000 cows in what was determined by the Animal Welfare Institute to be the worst farm fire for cows since 2013, when authorities began tracking barn fires.

After a boiler explosion at Shearer’s Foods in Hermiston, Oregon in February, the company laid off its employees. In March, there was a large fire at the Penobscot McCrum potato processing plant in Maine. In April, a private plane crashed into Gem State Processing, a potato processing plant in Idaho. A week later, another private plane crashed into the General Mills plant in Covington, Georgia.

Meanwhile, an April fire at the port of Benicia, California hampered gasoline production. A natural gas pipeline exploded in Michigan in March.

That same month, there was a massive fire at the Taylor Farms food processing plant in Salinas, California. Also in April, the Dufur, Oregon headquarters of Azure Standard, a leading organic food distributor, was destroyed by fire, and another fire destroyed the East Conway Beef & Pork Meat Market in Conway, New Hampshire. Early in May, a chicken farm in Jones County, Mississippi was destroyed by fire. Saladino’s food processing plant in Fresno, California caught fire around the same time. A Walmart Fulfillment Center in Indiana caught fire in late May. Also in late May, a fire at Forsman Farms in Howard Lake, Minnesota killed tens of thousands of chickens. In mid-June, there was a huge fire at the Festive Foods pizza plant in Belmont, Wisconsin.

In Iowa in April, five million chickens were killed after discovery of a single case of avian flu. 22 million chickens have been killed nationwide in an attempt to contain the outbreak. Thousands of cattle died in Kansas in June; their deaths were blamed on the heat, but it was not an unusually hot month, and numerous people with farming experience were skeptical of the official explanation.

Meanwhile, on May 26, a coal train derailed near Gothenburg, Nebraska. On June 1, a train derailed near Lansing, Iowa, with ten coal cars leaving the tracks; the contents of one spilled into the Mississippi River. Another train derailed in Shiner, Texas on June 3, spilling coal in the center of the town. In British Columbia, yet another coal train derailed on June 18, spilling coal from fifteen rail cars. That same day, one more coal train derailed in Lawrence, Kansas, spilling a “large amount” of coal.

Toward a Realist American Grand Strategy thumbnail

Toward a Realist American Grand Strategy

By Warren Davidson

Republican voters are ready to make a clean split from the neoconservative consensus that has dominated the party’s foreign policy for decades, and shift toward a grand strategy of realism grounded in America’s national interest. The two leading candidates in the Republican presidential primary have proven this, and Washington should follow suit sooner rather than later.

This new alignment reflects a major directional shift in the Republican Party. Poll after poll shows that Americans in general, and particularly Republican voters, no longer want to protect a wealthy continent that free-rides off their hard earned tax dollars.

This urgent debate about the future of our nation’s foreign policy is absent elsewhere. As is tradition, when a Democrat is in the White House, the supposedly anti-war progressives in Congress disappear from the conversation. In addition, the mainstream media, which always stands ready to beat the drums of war, has compared Republican realists to Chamberlain in Munich in 1938.

Despite what the neoconservatives, Democrats, and the mainstream media say, our government’s current foreign policy is unsustainable.

We, as elected representatives, welcome a debate and the opportunity to demonstrate why realism is ascendant and reflects the growing majority in the        Republican Party, challenging a quarter-century neoconservative consensus.

In the context of the rapidly changing geopolitical situation and the emergence of an unbalanced multipolarity, the United States must have a better grand strategy. In the wake of the Cold War, China updated its strategic vision and America has not. While we do not call for a total retrenchment from Europe, it is clear the post-Cold War-era worldview of institutionalizing peace typified by a bipartisan faith in the progressive “arc of history” and the doctrinal dogma of promoting democracy through either institutions or force has ensured three unsustainable outcomes.

One, America’s historic restraint and detached prudence have been sacrificed in favor of interventionism and “rights promotion” around the world, and have squandered untold amounts of American blood and treasure. Two, NATO expansion ensured that the richest continent remains unincentivized to carry the burden for their own defense. This has resulted in the atrophy of all the major powers in Europe. Consider that a Germany two-thirds of its current size could field a dozen divisions alone during the late Eighties. Three, it also encouraged sanctimonious protectorates and weasel bureaucrats toward a maximalist foreign policy, increasing the risk of drawing America into a great power conflict.

The combined European GDP, manpower, production capacity, and technological prowess are overwhelmingly superior to those of Russia, and yet, it is the United States that is carrying the inequitable burden of keeping the Russians from overrunning Ukraine. Additionally, if the fourteen-month conflict in Ukraine has proved anything, it is that Moscow neither has the current capability to take large swaths of territory in the heart of Europe nor the ability to quickly offset the losses they have incurred.

Geography also dictates that Europe—especially Western Europe—will never pay for their own defense share, as long as American money and manpower are guarding European frontiers and European interests. They respond as if NATO membership has purchased America’s military to fight their wars, not an alliance to help them win the wars they must (defensively) fight. In other words, Europeans understand the benefit of a “blank check” from America.

The actual threat from our prolonged involvement in Ukraine is Beijing continuing to strengthen its position on the world stage. China is perhaps the biggest beneficiary of a long war in Ukraine. Proxy wars cannot be viewed as risk-free. As we continue to deplete our weapon reserves into the Donbas, China has an intact and strong manufacturing capacity, and would happily be willing to turn the tables on us, reversing the strategy we are employing against the Russians. There is no direct Chinese loss in arming Russia and prolonging a war that diminishes American stockpiles as China continues to establish regional hegemony in Asia. America’s descent into insolvency and the overstretching of its military are ends in themselves for Beijing.

Finding the United States at a crossroads, we propose a few guiding principles to bring us back to sanity.

First, following the degradation of the Russian conventional forces, an effort should be made to redeploy American infantry, armor, and combat support units away from Eastern Europe. European frontiers should be guarded by European brigades and European armor, both in combination and command. Otherwise, Europe will never share the burden as long as Americans are there to provide. The U.S. should continue to provide the nuclear umbrella and naval forces, because freedom of seas as well as controlling the levers of the ultimate deterrence are in the American interest. But infantry, armor, artillery, and logistics should primarily be the burden of Europeans.

Second, the NATO bureaucracy should be discouraged from out-of-area operations, or opining on social issues that are not strictly within the military remit and hamper alliance cohesion. NATO should also cut its bloated bureaucracy and maintain an organizational hierarchy that is befitting a defensive alliance aimed at a major power war, instead of morphing into a giant NGO. NATO should also stop all expansion. A defensive military alliance that is constantly mutating in shape cannot have a coherent grand strategy, and risks falling into the trap of being drawn to conflict by the militaristic instincts of the newer member states.

Finally, European burden-sharing has been a core American aim through the administrations of Eisenhower, Kennedy, Nixon, Obama, and Trump. But that cannot be achieved without a concrete plan and timeline, as both the NATO bureaucracy and free-riding European states are adept at evading this responsibility. The U.S. Congress should therefore plan a fixed timeline of burden shifting within NATO to undertake a more detached approach. Likewise, it is in the urgent interest of the Europeans to not only scale up their munitions production but also maintain uniformity and parity with American arms.

We are both veterans and understand the need for a peerless military and martial readiness. We also understand our history and core strategic interests. American history, as well as wisdom from our founding fathers, explicitly warns against permanent entanglements that might lead to forever wars. The current and emerging geopolitical scenarios make it imperative to focus on multiple challenges, most importantly, our trillions of dollars in debt, a fragmented culture dependent on an all-volunteer force, the rise of a potential peer rival in the East, and a broken immigration system to our south. Prioritization of strategic theaters is therefore key to a prudent grand strategy and inevitably leads to trade-offs. America’s grand strategy must recognize that China is our main grand-strategic challenge, and an urgent prioritization of resources and areas of active engagement is in order.

We, as representatives, are willing to work with anyone in future Republican administrations to formulate a legislative agenda and advance a more prudent foreign policy in line with the views, values, and interests of our fellow Americans.

‘Brace For F*cking Impact’: Border Agents Are Being Told Very Little To Prepare For The End Of A Major Trump-Era Order thumbnail

‘Brace For F*cking Impact’: Border Agents Are Being Told Very Little To Prepare For The End Of A Major Trump-Era Order

By The Daily Caller

  • Border Patrol agents are saying they aren’t getting much information regarding preparations for a major surge in illegal immigrants when Title 42, a major Trump-era expulsion order, ends May 11 and fear that chaos could ensue as a result, according to agents and internal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) document obtained exclusively by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
  • Title 42 was enacted to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and has resulted in the expulsion of more than 2.5 million illegal migrants at the southern border, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) statistics.
  • “There are thousands and thousands just waiting for Title 42 to end. I would say a fear is that the Biden admin has no clue just how bad it’s going to get. We can barely actively patrol the border now. When Title 42 ends, all of our resources, all of our little manpower that we do have, are going to be focused on processing. Field work will nearly cease to exist in my opinion,” one Border Patrol agent working along the southern border told the DCNF.

Border Patrol agents are being given limited word on how to prepare for a flood of illegal immigrants when Title 42, a major Trump-era expulsion order, ends May 11, according to two agents who spoke anonymously with the Daily Caller News Foundation and an internal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) memo.

President Joe Biden set the expiration of the COVID-19 emergencies, including Title 42, for May 11. The agents working the frontlines of the southern border had said they had very limited instructions about handling an expected surge of illegal immigrants come Title 42’s end and basically were just being told to mentally ready themselves for the worst in conversations with the DCNF.

One agent working along the southern border, who requested anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak, told the DCNF that the extent they were told about preparations was just to “brace for fucking impact” and to prepare to “weather the storm.”

With Title 42 in place, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has had record migrant encounters, with more than 2.3 million in fiscal year 2022 and more than one million between October and February.

A recent internal directive sent to some Department of Homeland Security officials that the DCNF exclusively obtained instructed agents to have “efficient cadence” for credible fear interviews (CFIs) to screen asylum claims and/or statements of fear of persecution, torture or similar threats.

“Due to the expected lifting of the currently operative CDC order, USBP and component partners must have an efficient cadence in place to be prepared to ramp up to USCIS conducting up to 1,000 CFIs per day in USBP’s short-term holding facilities for NCs across the Southwest Border,” the internal memo stated.

A second agent working along the southern border told the DCNF that it’s just a wait and see game, adding that there’s concern authorities won’t have the capacity or bandwidth to handle what’s to come.

“Most of the time, we are just told that Title 42 will end eventually and to be mentally prepared for the influx of migrants when it does. Regular line agents don’t seem to be offered an outline or plan as to how we will actually deal with the large numbers at the processing level,” the second agent said.

“Our facilities aren’t designed for large quantities of people. They are temporary housing facilities. When Title 42 is lifted, we will process them under immigration law, which governs when the migrants should be deported, detained, etc. We must also comply with U.S. asylum law, which will allow migrants to claim asylum, even when they entered illegally,” the second agent said.

The Biden administration is ignorant to the issue of an impending influx of illegal immigrants, the second agent explained.

“There are thousands and thousands just waiting for Title 42 to end. I would say a fear is that the Biden Admin has no clue just how bad it’s going to get. We can barely actively patrol the border now. When Title 42 ends, all of our resources, all of our little manpower that we do have, are going to be focused on processing. Field work will nearly cease to exist in my opinion,” the second agent said.

Republican states have challenged the Biden administration’s previous attempts to end Title 42, but the latest end to the public health emergency hasn’t faced any legal flack. DHS predicted that the end of Title 42 would usher in up to 14,000 illegal immigrants per day at the southern border,  a source familiar with the preparations told CNN.

To address the surge in anticipation of Title 42’s looming expiration, the Biden administration announced new measures in January to allow migrants amenable to the public health order opportunities to have an exception granting them entry via a phone application known as CBP One or through an airport on the grounds of humanitarian parole.

“The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) continues to prepare for the end of the Title 42 public health order, which is currently the subject of multiple court orders, and a return to processing all noncitizens under the Department’s Title 8 immigration authorities,” DHS said in January.

DHS didn’t respond to a request for comment.

‘Increasingly Under Siege’: How Interventionist Foreign Policy And A Rising China Threaten The Dollar’s Dominance thumbnail

‘Increasingly Under Siege’: How Interventionist Foreign Policy And A Rising China Threaten The Dollar’s Dominance

By John Hugh Demastri

A series of recent moves by the U.S. and foreign actors is increasingly calling into question the dollar’s long-term status as the world’s reserve currency, a situation that could reduce America’s influence on the global stage, economists told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

China has long attempted to challenge the dollar’s international dominance, most recently through a deal with French energy firm TotalEnergies, the first ever settled by the firm in Chinese yuan in an industry dominated by the “petrodollar,” Fortune reported. While it could take decades for such an effort to play out to completion, the dollar is “increasingly under siege” as the world’s reserve currency, Peter Earle, economist at the American Institute for Economic Research, told the DCNF.

A key reason for this is the increasing “weaponization” of the U.S. dollar to achieve certain foreign policy objectives, such as attempts to cut off Iran and Russia from foreign markets, Earle said. While there remain “formidable barriers” to the adoption of an alternative currency — such as the yuan — “many nations, large and small, are seeking alternatives to trading in dollars” which some nations are increasingly seeing as an “Achilles’ Heel to national sovereignty,” according to Earle.

More so than any other recent action, foreign governments are likely being motivated by the Biden administration’s decision to freeze Russian central bank assets held in the U.S., Peter St. Onge, an economist at the Heritage Foundation, told the DCNF. The move — which Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen described as “unprecedented” — essentially trapped all the Western dollar holdings of the Russian central bank, thanks to joint actions taken by the European Union and Japan, according to The New York Times.

“I think the seizure of the Russian central bank assets was a complete game changer for countries all over the world,” St. Onge said. “[E]ven during the Cold War, when we were having proxy wars with Russia, across three continents, we did not seize their dollars, because there was a gentleman’s agreement … this administration threw that away by seizing … the dollar holdings of the Russian central bank. That puts every other country on Earth on notice: that you may think you have dollars but only if we like you.”

To hedge their bets, countries are likely to diversify their reserves away from the dollar, according to St. Onge. He pointed to recent remarks from Indonesian President Joko Widodo, who warned a meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) of the “possible geopolitical repercussions” of continued reliance on the dollar and called for member nations to phase out foreign payment systems and trade in local currencies, according to ASEAN Briefing.

China has been taking steps to increase the value of the yuan as a competitor to the dollar, particularly among its regional trading partners and in its international investments, Foreign Policy reported last September. The country has encouraged the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) nations and nations in the Asia-Pacific region to conduct their trade in local currencies, such as the yuan, to provide financial security against potential external threats.

The share of Russian exports paid for in yuan, for example, has skyrocketed to 14%, up from 0.4% before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal reported in February. Russian households held roughly $6 billion in yuan in Russian banks in 2022 after starting the year with none.

As recently as Tuesday, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, said that there was “no reason for Malaysia to continue depending on the dollar,” and announced that Chinese President Xi Jingping had agreed to open talks on an “Asian Monetary Fund” that could compete with the U.S. dollar and the International Monetary Fund, according to Bloomberg. The recent relative strength of the dollar — the Bloomberg dollar index hit a record high in September 2022 — has devalued Southeast Asian currencies, sending Malaysia’s ringgit to historic lows.

Chinese President Xi Jinping urged Gulf Coast nations to conduct oil and gas trades in yuan in a speech in Saudi Arabia, Reuters reported. The Middle Eastern kingdom’s alliance with the U.S. has faced significant strain recently, and Saudi Arabian oil companies have recently announced several multibillion dollar oil and gas projects in China.

While the yuan is unlikely to soon replace the dollar outright, political concerns may cause nations to diversify their assets into a “mixture of currencies that very specifically does not include the United States dollar,” St. Onge told the DCNF. “So China’s not going to get 100% of it, but there’s a good chance that the U.S. gets 0% of it.”

In such a scenario, a flood of dollars returning to the U.S. — St. Onge estimates there are roughly $2 in international circulation for every $1 in the U.S. — could cause significant problems for U.S. policymakers, St. Onge said.

If the dollar falls, we will get 80 years of money-printing rushing back home like a tsunami,” said St. Onge. “If that happens, the inflation, and the hit on fragile banks, would be like nothing we’ve ever seen.”

However, the strength of the U.S. dollar could be seen as just that, according to Jordan McGillis, a policy analyst at the Manhattan Institute, who told the DCNF that the dollar remains essential to global markets and that China’s strict control of its own capital worked counter to its efforts to displace the dollar. While recent efforts by the U.S. to freeze Russia out of global markets has led to an increase in trade in non-dollar currencies, concerns about the dollar, while “not totally unfounded,” did not warrant significant panic, he said.

A University of Chicago poll of currency experts performed in March of last year, less than a quarter of economists believed that this ‘weaponization’ of dollar finance would lead to a ‘significant shift’ away from the dollar,” McGillis said, referencing a March 2022 poll of U.S. and European economists conducted by the University of Chicago’s Booth Review. “The evidence, so far, bears that out, with the U.S. Dollar Index currently higher than it was at the start of 2022 and also higher than it was at any point in the 15 years before covid-19.”

Arkansas House Urges Action on Terrorism on America’s Southern Border thumbnail

Arkansas House Urges Action on Terrorism on America’s Southern Border

By Center For Security Policy

It is often pointed out that Washington D.C. is out of touch—with the rest of America.

It’s not that elected officials in Washington don’t come up with good ideas; but between “The Swamp” running interference and leftist ideologues in the White House and Congress delaying or even killing legislation, so little seems to get done.

There are many people across America, including in Washington D.C., who understand the threats we face.

One of those is State Representative Marcus Richmond, a former Marine who serves as the House Majority Leader in the Arkansas House of Representatives. During the 2023 legislative session at the Arkansas state capitol in Little Rock, Richmond authored a resolution admonishing the U.S. government to do what so many Americans know is necessary.

House Resolution (HR) 1048 calls on the United States government to disrupt collaboration between drug cartels and terrorist organizations, declare fentanyl to be a weapon of mass destruction, and designate the Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.

Drug overdoses have killed more than 100,000 Americans over the past year. 66% of the overdose deaths in the past year were related to synthetic opioids like fentanyl.

The DEA reports that Mexican drug cartels, including the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, import dangerous raw materials from Communist China, use them to produce deadly synthetic opioids at low cost, and unlawfully transport those opioids into the United States.

Both the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel have expanded their deadly business into the United States.

These foreign drugs have created twin public health and national security crises of unparalleled magnitude.

Over the past decade, Mexican drug cartels have developed well-organized armed forces to protect their reprehensible trade from rivals, from the Mexican government and from the U.S. DEA.

The existence of the cartels’ armed forces just across our southwestern land border and the Mexican government’s inability to control these forces pose a threat to our national security far greater than a typical drug-trafficking enterprise.

The threat to our national security is made greater still by the known links between the Mexican drug cartels and jihadist terror organizations like Hezbollah, who have already killed Americans and intend to do our country harm.

The Mexican drug cartels are essentially conducting chemical warfare on everyday Americans, affecting every community, town, and city across America.

The cartels are importing a chemical agent — fentanyl — into the United States that endangers the safety of the American people

The same cartels that produce and traffic this dangerous chemical are also assassinating rivals and Mexican officials, ambushing and killing Americans at the border, and engaging in an armed insurgency against the Mexican government.

It has prompted a bipartisan group of 18 state attorneys general to call on the Biden administration to declare fentanyl a weapon of mass destruction.

The catastrophic loss of life is intolerable, yet it has received an anemic response from the federal government.

Now Arkansas has called for a change…

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

THAT it is time to respond to these crises because our national security requires the United States Government to disrupt the collaboration between drug cartels and terrorist organizations.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the House of Representatives call on President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, and the United States Congress to treat fentanyl as the danger it truly is and declare it a weapon of mass destruction.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the House of Representatives request that the Sinaloa Cartel, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, and other similarly situated Mexican drug cartels be designated as foreign terrorist organizations under 8 U.S.C. § 1189.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution be provided to President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Speaker of the House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy, Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer, and the members of the Arkansas Congressional Delegation.

State Representative Richmond and the Arkansas House are to be commended on their strong stance. When it comes to matters of American national security, the security of our border, and the safety of our people, things are too important to be left up to Washington to fix… if they ever get around to it. More states need to follow Arkansas’ example and demand action on Fentanyl and the cartels.

Hey Joe, How many U.S. Soldiers Lives will be Needlessly Lost after you Convert to a All Electric Military Fleet of Land Vehicles (EVMLVs)?

By Dr. Rich Swier

Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. has made it his mission to go all electric when it comes to vehicles. To do this he is mandating new car-pollution standards in a way that’s meant to dramatically speed the adoption of all electric vehicles (EVs).

The Associated Press asked the following,

Q. What is the EPA proposing?

A, The proposed tailpipe pollution limits don’t require a specific number of electric vehicles to be sold every year, but instead they mandate limits on greenhouse gas emissions. Depending on how automakers comply, the EPA projects that at least 60% of new passenger vehicles sold in the U.S. would be electric by 2030 and up to 67% by 2032.

For slightly larger, medium-duty trucks, the EPA projects 46% of new vehicle sales will be EVs in 2032.

Q. What is the auto industry saying about the proposed rules?

A. John Bozzella, CEO of the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, a trade group representing most automakers, called the EPA proposal “aggressive by any measure” and wrote in a statement that it exceeds the Biden administration’s 50% electric vehicle sales target for 2030 announced less than two years ago.

The Washington Post reported on the biggest hurdle facing America’s EV revolution,

Most electric vehicle drivers charge their vehicles at home. But as Americans buy EVs – to the tune of 7 percent of all new vehicle registrations in January – more and more people are finding that the public charging system is unreliable, inconvenient and simply confusing.

“I’ve seen people wait because there are only four chargers and two of them are out of service,” said Bill Ferro, the founder of EVSession, a software firm that tracks charger reliability. “Everything that I’ve seen shows that it’s driving away current and potential EV owners.”

QUESTION: What about our military land vehicle fleet?

U.S. Military Land Vehicle Fleet

The Biden EPA vehicle standards also apply to all the cars, trucks, postal vehicles and military land vehicles in the current inventory.

Let’s just look at the military land vehicle fleet.

According to Military.com here is a list of military land vehicles:

Main Battle Tank

Infantry Fighting Vehicles

Armored Personnel Carriers

Light Armored Vehicles

Mine Protected Vehicles

Combat engineering vehicles

Self-Propelled artillery and Anti-Air

Prime Movers and Trucks

Miscellanies

Unmanned Combat Vehicles

So our U.S. military has 81 different models of military land vehicles, that number in the thousands of vehicles that must now meet Biden’s new EPA rules.

Are you getting the picture?

The Bottom Line

According to the Modern War Institute,

The US military is the largest institutional consumer of petroleum fuels on the planet, using as many as 4.2 billion gallons of fuel each year. The military pays a premium for its fuel—the Defense Logistics Agency spent over $9 billion dollars on fuel in 2019. Expenditures went down significantly during the pandemic but in 2022 Congress had to appropriate more money for fuel purchases not once, but twice for a total of $3 billion extra. Furthermore, the ongoing war in Ukraine and OPEC’s commitment to reduce production will keep fuel prices high for the foreseeable future. The price of delivering fuel to remote outposts can cost the Pentagon as much as $1,000 per gallon, according to the Army. And dollars aren’t the only way the military pays for fuel; it also pays for it with the blood of service members. Between 2003 and 2007 one out of every eight casualties in Iraq came as a result of protecting fuel convoys.”

The U.S. military is investing around $2.4 billion towards integrating hybrid (HEV) and plug-in electric (PEV) vehicles into its fleet in order to become net-zero in energy consumption by 2050. The Army plans to electrify light-duty non-tactical vehicles by 2027 and all non-tactical vehicles by 2035, along with energy efficiency improvements and microgrid systems at all Army installations. Training and leadership development will incorporate climate change topics no later than 2028.

So, our military will gradually become HEV or PEV and our troops will be schooled on climate change.

When I was in the military we always refueled all of our vehicles whenever we stopped in a new tactical location.

Please, Joe, explain to me how will we re-charge and refuel all of these HEVs and PEVs in the field during combat?

Is the U.S. military going to tow around generators in the combat zone? Will they only be deployed into those countries that have sufficient charging stations that our PEV military land vehicles can plug into?

Get the idea?

Biden is weakening our military and putting our soldiers and national security at great risk just to reduce America’s carbon footprint. Why?

BTY, most of the batteries currently used in EVs and in the new PEVs will most probably be made in China.

It doesn’t get any worse than this.

War fighting and winning on the battlefield is being replaced with the Biden Green New Deal political agenda.

Biden wants to “save the planet” while he puts American soldiers, sailors and Marines at ever greater risk.

Our enemies are watching and laughing at the U.S.

Biden’s green policies are a clear and present danger to America and its citizens.

Hey Joe, What will it Cost in U.S. Soldiers Lives’ after you Convert to a All Electric Military Fleet of Land Vehicles (EVMLVs)?

By Dr. Rich Swier

Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. has made it his mission to go all electric when it comes to vehicles. To do this he is mandating new car-pollution standards in a way that’s meant to dramatically speed the adoption of all electric vehicles (EVs).

The Associated Press asked the following,
