House Freedom Caucus Throws Wrench Into Congress’ Government Spending Fight

By The Daily Caller

The House Freedom Caucus has issued a list of demands for 12 appropriations bills that will be considered by Congress in September, which must be passed to avoid a government shutdown, according to a press release issued on Monday.

The Caucus has often clashed with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and other Republicans on government spending, arguing for more cuts and the inclusion of conservative priorities in legislation. On Monday, the Caucus issued four demands of the appropriations process, indicating that they will not vote for a spending bill excluding their demands in a narrowly divided House, according to a press release.

The Caucus announced it would not support any funding bill that does not “include the House-passed ‘Secure the Border Act of 2023’ to cease the unchecked flow of illegal migrants, combat the evils of human trafficking, and stop the flood of dangerous fentanyl into our communities.” The Secure the Border Act, passed by the House in a party-line vote on May 11, includes provisions to construct a wall along the border between the United States and Mexico and bars asylum applications from migrants who entered the country illegally as well as from those who transited a “safe” third country, which have been strongly opposed by Democrats, who control the Senate.

— House Freedom Caucus (@freedomcaucus) August 21, 2023

President Joe Biden has vowed to veto the Secure the Border Act if it ever passes Congress.

The Caucus’ second demand is that House Republicans “[a]ddress the unprecedented weaponization of the Justice Department and the FBI,” likely referring to the GOP’s broad criticism of the prosecution of former President Donald Trump by the Department of Justice (DOJ). Trump has been indicted by DOJ Special Counsel Jack Smith in two jurisdictions, Miami and Washington, D.C., related to his possession of classified documents and attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Its third demand is that appropriations bills be used to “end the Left’s cancerous woke policies in the Pentagon undermining our military’s core warfighting mission.” Congressional Republicans have previously criticized the Department of Defense for advertising aimed at recruiting LGBTQ individuals and reading lists including books by race-conscious authors.

The Caucus’ final ultimatum is that it will “oppose any blank check for Ukraine in any supplemental appropriations bill.” Biden submitted a supplemental request for monies to Congress on Aug. 10 that included $24 billion in aid to Ukraine, which has been opposed by many in the Caucus who argue that the United States should not spend its money to support the country in its response to ongoing Russia’s invasion.

Congress will need to pass all 12 appropriations bills by Sept. 30 to avoid a government shutdown. The Caucus has warned that it will not vote for a continuing resolution, a stop-gap measure that temporarily funds the government, at current levels of spending, which it opposes — a demand likely to be opposed by Senate Democrats.

“[W]e don’t support any kind of play to jam against the holidays that would allow Senate Democrats to gain leverage, [such as] an omnibus, or a long-term continuing resolution,” said a spokesperson for McCarthy to the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Any short-term CR would only be necessary as a way to continue working through regular order on bills that include Republican priorities.”

The White House and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

America on Brink of $1 TRILLION a Year in Interest Payments thumbnail

America on Brink of $1 TRILLION a Year in Interest Payments

By The Geller Report

In interest alone. This is the greatest fiscal plunder — the unimaginable transfer of wealth — for our own destruction.

The Red Line: America Is Headed Toward Annual Outlays in Interest Payments on Its Debts of $1 Trillion a Year

Can Congress muster the will to rein in outlays across the non-military budget? Go ahead, kid me.

By: Red Jahncke, NY Sun, August 22, 2023:m

After the downgrade of America’s debt by Fitch Ratings, a drumbeat of negative assessments has followed in respect of how deep in the hole our country has plunged. That’s a good thing, since net interest on the debt is escalating rapidly on a track to hit an unsustainable and crippling $1 trillion in fiscal 2025.

This fiscal year net interest is headed toward $700 billion, having already hit $561 billion in ten months, with $67 billion paid in July. Rates are at the highest levels in decades and likely to stay there, with the Federal Reserve saying it will hold rates “higher for longer.” Rates may climb further, as they have in recent days.

Most economic forecasters now see uninterrupted economic growth rather than a recession that might bring rates down. Monetary experts are considering whether current rates are a new normal and whether the neutral rate of interest and, or or, the real rate of return may be higher than previously thought.

All this implies steady or rising interest rates and increases the likelihood that net interest will hit the projected $1 trillion. The numbers bring home the reality — starting with the ongoing cost of the existing and staggering $25.8 trillion of publicly held debt that now saddles our economy.

According to the Treasury Department, the embedded interest rate on the debt at the end of July was 2.9 percent, which yields annual interest expense of $748 billion in fiscal 2024 and fiscal 2025. The next step is to calculate the increase in interest costs as existing below-market fixed-rate long-term debt matures and rolls over at prevailing rates.

In fiscal 2024, $2.7 trillion of long-term fixed-rate Treasuries will mature and roll over at current rates. Their weighted average original maturity is 4.5 years and their weighted average coupon interest rate is 1.5 percent. Rolled over at today’s 4.45 percent rate on 5-year Treasuries, they will produce in 2024 additional interest at an annual rate of $86 billion and actual interest cost of an additional $43 billion.

The third step is to calculate the cost of new debt required to fund fiscal 2024 and 2025 deficits at an assumed $2 trillion, the same as expected this fiscal year. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the deficit in the first ten months of this year, as adjusted by CBO, has surpassed $1.7 trillion, implying $2 trillion for the year.

The national debt clock is seen at midtown Manhattan on May 25, 2023.

‘Inflation Tax’ Is Higher Than Federal Income Tax thumbnail

‘Inflation Tax’ Is Higher Than Federal Income Tax

By The Daily Caller

Americans are paying far more to offset the costs of inflation since President Joe Biden took office than they pay toward federal income taxes, according to data calculated by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Average hourly earnings rose from $33.60 per hour in June to $33.74 per hour in July, but when adjusted for inflation since the beginning of Biden’s term as president in January 2021, real wages have failed to keep up, resulting in $4.62 less per hour when adjusted, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and calculated by E.J. Antoni, a research fellow at the Heritage Foundation’s Grover M. Hermann Center for the Federal Budget. At the average hourly rate for Americans of $33.60, workers pay $3.08 per hour in federal income taxes, far less than what inflation has cost the average worker, according to data calculated by the DCNF.

“Bidenomics can be defined by government spending, borrowing, and printing too much money,” Antoni told the DCNF. “That’s also the recipe for inflation, so the Biden administration’s policies are directly to blame for the inflation tax, a clear violation of Mr. Biden’s promise not to raise taxes on those making less than $400,000 a year.”

“But this is ultimately about policy, and not politics,” Antoni continued. “Plenty of congressional Republicans voted for excessive spending over the last three years and must share some of the blame for our current stagflation. Notwithstanding that fact, Biden is clearly the bigger sinner here, constantly pushing for more spending and driving the nation’s finances into the ground.”

First the headlines:
CPI: Y/Y 3.2%, M/M 0.2%
Core: Y/Y 4.7% (over twice Fed’s target), M/M 0.2%
Inflation has outpaced wage growth almost every month of Biden’s presidency, barely eking out growth in Jul: pic.twitter.com/RcYkmzOEYt

— EJ Antoni (@RealEJAntoni) August 10, 2023

Inflation rose to 3.2% year-over-year in July, up from 3.0% in June after steadily declining from a high of 9.1% in June 2022. The largest contributor to that increase was shelter, which rose 0.4% for the month of July, totaling 90% of the increase in inflation.

“The Federal Reserve, which plans and executes US monetary policy, is responsible for the destruction of real wages since 2020,” Peter Earle, economist at the American Institute for Economic Research, told the DCNF. “The Federal Reserve’s massively expansionary policies throughout 2020 had far-reaching consequences. The winnowing of the dollar’s purchasing power is being felt by every citizen, but hits the poor and individuals on a fixed income far worse than most others.”

The Federal Reserve hiked its federal funds rate for the eleventh time since March 2022 in July, bringing the target rate within a range of 5.25% and 5.50%, the highest rate since 2001. Following the rate hike at the Federal Open Market Committee meeting, Fed Chair Jerome Powell remarked that inflation will not return to the target rate of 2% until 2025.

“Inflation is fundamentally a tax because it is a transfer of wealth from you to the government,” Antoni told the DCNF. “You continue paying that inflation tax until your wages catch up to inflation. At that point, your cumulative lost purchasing power will be equal to how much the government implicitly confiscated from you through inflation.”

Biden’s Build Back Bust: Electric Car Company Proterra Goes Belly-up Bankrupt thumbnail

Biden’s Build Back Bust: Electric Car Company Proterra Goes Belly-up Bankrupt

By Dr. Rich Swier

The center piece of Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr.’s Build Back Better all electric vehicles GREEN agenda is a BIG bust.

Biden’s Build Back Bust economy has led to, among others, the bankruptcy of Proterra the maker of all electric buses.

WATCH:

During his first two years in office, Biden repeatedly promoted the company Proterra, including virtually touring their factory. He touted the company as the “future.”

Yesterday, Proterra declared bankruptcy. pic.twitter.com/snkcvYf6KM

— GOP (@GOP) August 8, 2023

The New York Post’s reports,

President Biden frequently extolled an electric vehicle company — in which his energy secretary heavily invested — before it declared bankruptcy on Monday.

Bay Area-based electric bus and battery maker Proterra filed for Chapter 11, with CEO Gareth Joyce citing “various market and macroeconomic headwinds that have impacted our ability to efficiently scale.”

The EV firm, which sold more than 1,300 electric buses to public transit systems in the US and Canada, was valued at $1.6 billion when Biden, 80, took office in January 2021 — but closed with a market value of $362 million, according to Reuters.

In 2021, the president pledged more than $10 billion from his $1.9 trillion bipartisan infrastructure plan toward zero-emission transit and school bus programs.

He has promoted Proterra several times since taking office, and once virtually toured a facility.

It is a fact that all Electric Vehicles (EVs) are powered by coal, uranium, natural gas or diesel-powered energy sources.

One of the greatest persistent, persuasive and unrealistic myths is the idea that the United States must abandon coal, fossil and nuclear fuels in favor of windmills and solar panels. This persistent, persuasive and unrealistic myth is now public policy!

The The Biden-Harris Electric Vehicle Charging Action Plan states,

President Biden has united automakers and autoworkers to drive American leadership forward on clean cars, and he set an ambitious target of 50% of electric vehicle (EV) sale shares in the U.S. by 2030. Now, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will supercharge America’s efforts to lead the electric future, Building a Better America where we can strengthen domestic supply chains, outcompete the world, and make electric cars cheaper for working families.

[ … ]

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law makes the most transformative investment in electric vehicle charging in U.S. history that will put us on the path to a convenient and equitable network of 500,000 chargers and make EVs accessible to all Americas for both local and long-distance trips. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law includes $5 billion in formula funding for states with a goal to build a national charging network. 10% is set-aside each year for the Secretary to provide grants to States to help fill gaps in the network. The Law also provides $2.5 billion for communities and corridors through a competitive grant program that will support innovative approaches and ensure that charger deployment meets Administration priorities such as supporting rural charging, improving local air quality and increasing EV charging access in disadvantaged communities. Together, this is the largest-ever U.S. investment in EV charging and will be a transformative down payment on the transition to a zero-emission future. [Emphasis added]

Read the full plan here.

QUESTION: What exactly will charge the chargers and the batteries in these clean cars?

EVs Are Not So Green

A reader send us a link to this post on Reddit:

Not so Green

This is an excellent breakdown.

Batteries, they do not make electricity – they store electricity produced elsewhere, primarily by coal, uranium, natural gas-powered plants, or diesel-fueled generators. So, to say an EV is a zero-emission vehicle is not at all valid.

Also, since forty percent of the electricity generated in the U.S. is from coal-fired plants, it follows that forty percent of the EVs on the road are coal-powered, do you see?”

Einstein’s formula, E=MC2, tells us it takes the same amount of energy to move a five-thousand-pound gasoline-driven automobile a mile as it does an electric one. The only question again is what produces the power? To reiterate, it does not come from the battery; the battery is only the storage device, like a gas tank in a car.

There are two orders of batteries, rechargeable, and single-use. The most common single-use batteries are A, AA, AAA, C, D. 9V, and lantern types. Those dry-cell species use zinc, manganese, lithium, silver oxide, or zinc and carbon to store electricity chemically. Please note they all contain toxic, heavy metals.

Rechargeable batteries only differ in their internal materials, usually lithium-ion, nickel-metal oxide, and nickel-cadmium. The United States uses three billion of these two battery types a year, and most are not recycled; they end up in landfills. California is the only state which requires all batteries be recycled. If you throw your small, used batteries in the trash, here is what happens to them.

All batteries are self-discharging. That means even when not in use, they leak tiny amounts of energy. You have likely ruined a flashlight or two from an old, ruptured battery. When a battery runs down and can no longer power a toy or light, you think of it as dead; well, it is not. It continues to leak small amounts of electricity. As the chemicals inside it run out, pressure builds inside the battery’s metal casing, and eventually, it cracks. The metals left inside then ooze out. The ooze in your ruined flashlight is toxic, and so is the ooze that will inevitably leak from every battery in a landfill. All batteries eventually rupture; it just takes rechargeable batteries longer to end up in the landfill.

In addition to dry cell batteries, there are also wet cell ones used in automobiles, boats, and motorcycles. The good thing about those is, ninety percent of them are recycled. Unfortunately, we do not yet know how to recycle single-use ones.

But that is not half of it. For those of you excited about electric cars and a green revolution, I want you to take a closer look at batteries and also windmills and solar panels. These three technologies share what we call environmentally destructive production costs.

A typical EV battery weighs one thousand pounds, about the size of a travel trunk. It contains twenty-five pounds of lithium, sixty pounds of nickel, 44 pounds of manganese, 30 pounds cobalt, 200 pounds of copper, and 400 pounds of aluminum, steel, and plastic. Inside are over 6,000 individual lithium-ion cells.

It should concern you that all those toxic components come from mining. For instance, to manufacture each EV auto battery, you must process 25,000 pounds of brine for the lithium, 30,000 pounds of ore for the cobalt, 5,000 pounds of ore for the nickel, and 25,000 pounds of ore for copper. All told, you dig up 500,000 pounds of the earth’s crust for just – one – battery.”

Sixty-eight percent of the world’s cobalt, a significant part of a battery, comes from the Congo. Their mines have no pollution controls, and they employ children who die from handling this toxic material. Should we factor in these diseased kids as part of the cost of driving an electric car?”

I’d like to leave you with these thoughts. California is building the largest battery in the world near San Francisco, and they intend to power it from solar panels and windmills. They claim this is the ultimate in being ‘green,’ but it is not. This construction project is creating an environmental disaster. Let me tell you why.

The main problem with solar arrays is the chemicals needed to process silicate into the silicon used in the panels. To make pure enough silicon requires processing it with hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrogen fluoride, trichloroethane, and acetone. In addition, they also need gallium, arsenide, copper-indium-gallium- diselenide, and cadmium-telluride, which also are highly toxic. Silicon dust is a hazard to the workers, and the panels cannot be recycled.

Windmills are the ultimate in embedded costs and environmental destruction. Each weighs 1688 tons (the equivalent of 23 houses) and contains 1300 tons of concrete, 295 tons of steel, 48 tons of iron, 24 tons of fiberglass, and the hard to extract rare earths neodymium, praseodymium, and dysprosium. Each blade weighs 81,000 pounds and will last 15 to 20 years, at which time it must be replaced. We cannot recycle used blades.

There may be a place for these technologies, but you must look beyond the myth of zero emissions.

“Going Green” may sound like the Utopian ideal but when you look at the hidden and embedded costs realistically with an open mind, you can see that Going Green is more destructive to the Earth’s environment than meets the eye, for sure.

The Bottom Line

EVs are neither carbon-neutral nor powered by batteries. The batteries in EVs are all powered by other energy sources. The truth is that mankind cannot become carbon neutral without hurting mankind itself.

We have long recommended that America go all nuclear power. Nuclear power is clean, carbon free, reliable and cheap.

As we wrote in our column “America’s Energy Future: Oil, Natural Gas and Nuclear“:

America’s power lies in its ability to provide power to the engines of our current and future economic growth.

Starving America of power, makes America powerless. Starving our citizens of cheap and reliable power is a direct threat to our fiscal and national security.

To be powerful America needs powerful sources of energy. Nuclear, oil (for gasoline, diesel and aviation fuels) and natural gas are the best and most accessible means to energy independence.

Energy independence translates into life, liberty and the pursuit of our collective happiness.

Without cheap and reliable power sources the lights in that city on the hill will most certainly go out – for everyone.

Powerup America.

Leftists Attack, Then Blame Responding Conservatives as Culture War Aggressors thumbnail

Leftists Attack, Then Blame Responding Conservatives as Culture War Aggressors

By Family Research Council

Old dogs sometimes do learn new tricks. And President Joe Biden is so pleased with his latest attainment — criticizing Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) for delaying military promotions over the Pentagon’s illegal abortion policy — that he is showing it off just about everywhere. This month, Biden has bashed Tuberville’s courageous, one-man stand at a joint press conference with the president of Finland, a speech about “Bidenomics,” and a Civil Rights Symposium.

Tuberville, the president keeps insisting, is “jeopardizing our national security over domestic social issues.” Biden also suggested Tuberville was stubbornly refusing to negotiate, saying, “I’d be willing to talk to him [Tuberville] if I thought there was any possibility he would change his ridiculous position on this.”

Biden’s factually challenged attack doesn’t even approximate the spirit of the actual situation. “I’ve said all along, Tuberville wrote in June, “that I will drop my hold on unanimous consent under only two conditions: Democrats can follow the law or change the law.” In reality, the Biden administration is the party guilty of injecting domestic culture wars into the national security conversation, when last year it decided the Department of Defense (DOD) would cover abortion-related expenses, in violation of federal law. And the Biden administration is the party guilty of stubbornly refusing to modify its policy to allow military promotions to continue.

“All Tommy Tuberville is doing is standing up for the law,” remarked Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah).

Yet Tuberville is the one under attack.

This is not an isolated phenomenon. Examples abound of left-wing ideologues blaming conservatives for culture wars started by the Left.

The ongoing controversy over PEPFAR reauthorization illustrates the same pattern. The President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) is a successful, bipartisan program combatting HIV and AIDS among Africa’s poorest inhabitants. The program’s five-year, $30 million reauthorization expires in September, and pro-life groups are now urging against a straight reauthorization, without additional pro-life protections. Naturally, the Left is blaming conservatives for politicizing a previously bipartisan policy.

In a lengthy report, The Washington Post painted a dire picture, suggesting Republicans were jeopardizing the future of PEPFAR over “allegations that the program’s funding is being used to indirectly support abortions — claims that health advocates, Democrats and PEPFAR officials say are baseless.” The 54-paragraph article devotes three clauses to describing pro-life concerns with PEPFAR. Meanwhile, its “experts” allege that “it’s really about the larger politics around abortion, electoral politics, and the partisan divide,” “populism, nationalism, and polarization have undermined domestic collective action and solidarity,” and “it’s just dumbfounding to me that the charge has been taken seriously.” According to their narrative, pro-life stalwart Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.) is a villain who switched positions to oppose PEPFAR.

Whether it’s at The New York TimesPolitico, or Voice of America, the rest of the Democrats’ cheer squad is chanting in unison with this mischaracterization.

There’s more to the story they aren’t telling. In 2021, President Biden rescinded the Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance Policy (PLGHA), which opened the door for organizations that carry out or promote abortion to obtain PEPFAR funding. Then in September 2022, the State Department published a document titled, “Reimagining PEPFAR’s Strategic Direction.” Under this strategic “reimagining” — on which Congress never voted — “PEPFAR will integrate HIV programming into strengthened public health systems to manage … sexual reproductive health, rights, and services ….” It would also “strengthen coordination between PEPFAR and other U.S. government global health and development programs, including for … sexual and reproductive health and rights … LGBTQI+, and human rights” (emphasis added). In other words, the Biden administration has unilaterally reinvented PEPFAR as a vehicle to promote abortion and its radical LGBT agenda.

Pro-life opposition to PEPFAR began after the State Department published it “reimagining” strategy. But the Left and the media are accusing pro-lifers of politicizing the issue.

Another controversy is over the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), an annual, must-pass bill to fund the military. The version passed by House Republicans included amendments which banned taxpayer funding of gender transition procedures, pornographic books in DOD schools, flying Pride flags on military property, and the creation or funding of DEI offices.

Yet again, Democrats depicted Republicans as culture war aggressors. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan responded that an “extreme group of Republicans” — the bill passed 219-210 with four Democrats voting in favor — had passed “a set of amendments that try to mix domestic social debates with … the security needs of our nation,” and that these amendments were “never getting to the president’s desk.” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) called the House-passed NDAA “race to the bottom … partisan legislation that has zero chance of passing.” The Senate passed a version of the NDAA that includes none of these amendments, and the two chambers will have to iron out their differences in conference.

But one feature gives away the game: all of these Republican amendments aim to prohibit the military from doing things it shouldn’t be doing, and which for centuries it didn’t do. These amendments would have been meaningless 30 years ago when the military did none of these things. The Biden administration, aided by a Democrat-controlled Congress from 2021-2022, initiated, expanded, or un-moth-balled (from the Obama era) these policies. House Republicans are merely endeavoring to claw back a tiny fraction of the woke expansion.

And Republicans are taking fire for trying to restore normalcy in the military.

This pattern is not restricted to the federal government. In recent years, state legislators have acted to protect children from gender reassignment procedures and LGBT indoctrination in schools. They have enacted protections for women’s private spaces from male intrusion and women’s sports from male domination. They have protected conscience rights, official ID documentation, and curriculum from trans ideology. Each legislative measure responds to leftist aggression attempting to politicize and dominate a new aspect of life. As thanks, left-wing advocacy groups slander these state legislators, depicting them as hateful bigots who “attack LGBTQ rights.”

No, it’s LGBT ideologues who are attacking the very fabric of society.

Progressives expand the culture war into a new aspect of life, conservatives mobilize a response to restore normalcy, and the media behaves as if conservatives were the Mongol Horde of culture wars. Like naturally-occurring spirals or Fibonacci sequences, once this pattern is recognized, it suddenly begins to appear everywhere. The Left behaves like the child who punches his brother while mom’s back is turned, then pays his third sibling to tell his version of events.

Alas, this tripartite pattern should surprise no one who is acquainted with the meaning of the words “progressive” and “conservative,” and who is acquainted with the Left’s revolutionary roots. Swallowing false accusations is simply part of the price the defenders of civilization must pay. But it doesn’t mean that we have to shut our eyes to the fixed game the Left tries to play.

VIDEO: Arizona/Mexico Border—Come Right On In!

By Defend The Border

In 2019, Tom Trento and The United West team went to the Cochise County, Arizona border with Mexico to gain a full understanding of our country’s border situation. In this video you will see how vital it is for America’s national security interests to have a completed 24-foot border fence/barrier. Mexican cartels are utilizing our porous border, as seen in this video, to illegally bring in cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, and human cargo.

I say cargo because these illegal immigrants pay the cartels $6,000 per person to have the cartels provide a ‘coyote’ to deliver them across the border. If an illegal can not pay the cartel they will have these individuals pay off their debt as sex slaves, mules, or any services the cartel wants of their human slaves.

You will see how easy it is to breach our borders in some areas. The problems of drugs and human trafficking have reached epidemic proportions endangering U.S. Citizens living on the border, putting law enforcement at risk, and the illegal aliens who become victims of the cartels.

There are no winners here and a strong border security system will help not only us American’s but also the exploited illegals not willing to immigrate legally to the United States. Now you’ve seen the border without filtering so you can make up your own mind.

Inflation is NOT Gone or Reduced – Just Another Biden Regime Lie

By Royal A. Brown III

Wayne Allen Root on his great Saturday Show Americas’ Top 10 on Real America’s Voice (a livestream program) tells the TRUTH about INFLATION — see article below.  The Biden regime is lying to us by saying inflation has gone/eased up.  Remember this as well – food & fuel costs are way undercalculated in the govt’s CSI and Inflation statistics.

Highly recommend you watch the Real America’s Voice (RAV) channel on livestream TV featuring real conservatives shows where hosts tell the truth rather than spread Obama 3/Biden lies like the LameStream media (including Fox) do every day.   All you need is your internet and a smart TV to bring up RAV or a dumb TV and a livestream device like ROKU or Firestick.  Consider saving big $$$ by getting off of cable TV (which supports many leftist apps and programs at your expense) and switching to livestream and watching only what you want to at little to no cost.

By Wayne Allyn Root

You’ve heard it all. “Inflation has peaked.” “Inflation is no longer a problem.” “Disinflation is now a greater threat.” “Inflation is 0.” These are the greatest hits of government propaganda and misinformation.

But this is serious fake news. This kind of lie affects the lives of the entire American middle class. The middle class is being sacrificed. This is the murder of the middle class.

I’m not a politician, economist, or member of the mainstream media. I’m a businessman in the real world. And in the real world where I live inflation is alive and well. Inflation is still roaring and soaring.

Let me give you just a few examples…

*When I go grocery shopping, the bills are through the roof. It doesn’t matter if the cost of bread, butter, eggs, cream cheese, meat, chicken, fish, and a hundred other items has stopped rising. That’s where the fraud comes in. The media quotes economists who say, “inflation has peaked.” Let’s assume that’s true.

Let’s assume in the past three years a cart of groceries has risen from $80 to $120 to $180 to $220. Which it has. So, does it matter if so far this year it hasn’t gone up? None of us could afford it when the groceries were $120, or $180. We certainly can’t afford it when they sit at $220. Whether they’re up this year is of no consequence.

  • My electric bill is soaring. Last July, my electric bill was $780.13. This July my bill is $989.20. I know because just paid it today. My math says this is an increase of over 25% in one year. Isn’t green energy great! Our electric company is using more and more green energy. That’s precisely why electric bills across the country are soaring. Green energy is simply unaffordable. It will drive us all to the poor house.
  • My natural gas bill for my home is soaring.
  • My water bill is soaring.
  • My fuel bill for my car is up again.
  • My property tax bill is up.
  • Since everything I buy at the supermarket, and big box retailers, and at online stores, and all the other places I shop are up dramatically, and we all pay sales tax on every item we buy, my sales taxes are up dramatically.
  • Have you gone out to eat at a restaurant lately? I’m a businessman. I go to business lunches and dinners 10 times a week. Every one of my meals is up dramatically from three years ago. Meals that used to cost $70 to $80 three years ago, now cost $125 to $150. Sometimes at the nicer restaurants in Vegas those same meals are hitting $200. And I don’t drink.

These prices are insane. I don’t know if they’ve gone up this year. But I know A) These prices are unaffordable…and B) They are ridiculously higher than three years ago.

  • My storage unit cost $1,200 per year only three years ago. And they gave me a 13th month free. Then last year they jacked up the price to $1,920 for the same storage unit- and eliminated the 13th month free. This year they jacked the price up to $2,208 per year. My math says that’s an increase of over 80% in three years.
  • My business P.O. Box fee is up dramatically.
  • My legal and accounting fees are higher than ever.
  • My health insurance, home insurance and car insurance are all soaring.
  • And thanks to Obamacare, my health insurance SUCKS. It seems every bill is on me (for me and my children). The bills are overwhelming. Every minute there is a new medical expense. And very little or nothing is ever covered.

I already paid for two kids in college. Soon two more will be starting. College costs are up through the roof.

I haven’t even discussed rent, or mortgage, or car payments, or credit card bills. Because of much higher interest rates, those are all up too.

And I just got back from my first vacation in a year. Every year I rent a home in Park City, Utah for my big family to fly in from all over the country. The cost to rent a vacation home was up by 50% over last year.

So, explain to me how “inflation is gone”…or “has peaked”…or “is no longer a problem”…or “deflation is the bigger threat.”

Those are all lies, fraud, propaganda and misinformation to protect the biggest fraud, liar and spreader of misinformation in world history…President Joe Biden.

Only three things are fact…

1) Every bill that matters to the typical American family is sky high…and up dramatically from three years ago. Inflation is destroying the great American middle class. That’s “Bidenomics.”

2) All of these costs were dramatically lower under President Donald J. Trump.

3) We had the perfect “goldilocks economy” under Trump: inflation was close to zero…interest rates were among the lowest in history…unemployment was among the lowest in history…economic growth was soaring…stocks were fantastic…taxes were lower…and we had peace throughout the world.

I’m a businessman living in the real world. Those are the facts.

Here’s one more fact…

Now, more than ever, we need President Trump back in the White House.

Biden’s Summer Regulatory Onslaught

White House Unleashes Hundreds of Billions of New Legislation as Congress Breaks fore Recess

The Biden Administration’s regulatory onslaught is more unrelenting than the heat. With Congress leaving town, the White House last week dumped another truckload of regulations that will cost Americans hundreds of billions of dollars. Corporate lawyers, enjoy the beach reading. There’s much more to say about this regulatory typhoon, which the Administration is counting on the press corp to ignore, as it usually does. But we thought Americans might like to know what regulators are up to while they vacation.

The Administration is imposing by regulation what it can’t pass through Congress and hoping nobody notices…

The U.S. Military Is Quietly Using A Little-Known Program To Enable Child Sex Changes thumbnail

The U.S. Military Is Quietly Using A Little-Known Program To Enable Child Sex Changes

By The Daily Caller

The U.S. military is quietly making accommodations for military families with children or dependents seeking gender transition help through a little-known program initially meant to assist families with special needs members.

Through the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP), the military has allowed special assignments for servicemembers so their dependents can access gender transition services, and could take additional steps to facilitate transition, according to media reports, Department of Defense (DOD) statements and the policies themselves. Current DOD guidance leaves open the possibility servicemembers with gender dysphoric dependents could be eligible for exceptions to policy under the EFMP, but there is a provision in the House’s draft defense bill that could make it illegal.

Republican Rep. Ralph Norman of South Carolina introduced an amendment, included in the draft text of the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2024, that would prohibit DOD from making accommodations for gender transition services under the EFMP.

The House agreed to the amendment by a vote of 220-210.

“In my opinion, this misuse of funds is absolutely against the spirit of the law. Gender transitioning is not covered under any of the criteria for identifying individuals eligible for EFMP,” Norman said in a statement to the Daily Caller News Foundation.

“Allowing ANY type of gender transition procedures through the EFMP goes against the intention for the program — which is to provide vital resources for service members’ families with special needs and chronic conditions,” he added.

No companion amendment exists in the Senate version, however, imperiling the provision’s chances of making it into the final legislation.

In 2021, a measure that would have “expand[ed] protections” for dependents with a diagnosis of gender dysphoria failed.

Democratic Rep. Jimmy Panetta of California introduced a bill expanding protections under EFMP to explicitly include “gender dysphoria” as a “medical or educational special need,” allowing servicemembers to request duty assignments or extra medical support for dependents diagnosed with the disorder. It would have effectively banned the services from stationing troops with transgender dependents in stations within the U.S. or abroad where the law bans gender transition services, according to a summary.

The Defense Department is working to improve the Exceptional Family Member Program with several initiatives, the director of DOD’s office of Military Family Readiness Policy told Congress, Feb. 5. https://t.co/uDqcYpld2o pic.twitter.com/QIKSIpwQld

— Department of Defense 🇺🇸 (@DeptofDefense) February 8, 2020

The Air Force was the only service openly expanding EFMP to include gender transition accommodations. At the time, EFMP policy and implementation varied between the Air Force, Navy and Army sometimes down to the installation level, according to a DOD article.

But, DOD has regulatory authority to create or change the criteria for considering an individual’s special needs, according to the law creating the DOD’s Office of Special Needs. Services have the ability to build on to what the Secretary of Defense mandates.

The Secretary of Defense issued revised instruction in late June meant to synchronize the EFMP between services but did not explicitly address gender dysphoria. Language outlining an eligible dependent family member remains largely unchanged.

But a research report published after the policy was unveiled does tie the EFMP to gender transition services.

“Dependent family members diagnosed with gender dysphoria,” as characterized in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, “could also be eligible to enroll in EFMP,” according to a Congressional Research Service report. Gender dysphoria would fall alongside other “current and chronic” mental health condition requiring inpatient or intensive outpatient mental health treatment where families “may access additional family support services,” the report stated.

Support services can include information and referrals, case management and maintaining school liaisons for dependents up to 21 years old, according to the policy.

While EFMP coordinators can make travel recommendations “solely based on the availability of specific medical needs for the health and safety of the enrolled family members,” they are not the final authority in those decisions, Cmdr. Nicole Schwegman, a Pentagon spokesperson, told the DCNF.

In addition, “the provision of medical care is not a component of EFMP,” Schwegman said. TRICARE, the military’s health plan, already covers several gender transition treatments and procedures.

In theory, at least, any military family with a member who can get an official diagnosis of gender dysphoria would be eligible for an EFMP.

“Right now, transgender dependents can and are enrolled in the EFMP,” the Modern Military Association (MMA) wrote.

“Many people falsely assume ‘gender-affirming care’ means giving kids hormones and surgeries,” MMA wrote, but for young children it still “includes having access to specialists who understand what they’re going through and can provide the youth and their family appropriate mental and emotional support.”

The EFMP could be used to make it easier for children to access specialists and medical care, according to MMA.

“All servicemembers and dependents who are confused about sexual identity deserve compassion and competent psychological care.  Under DoD regulations, however, the military’s medical system has been directed to provide medical advice and treatments only in the one-way direction of transition,” Elaine Donnelly, founder of the Center for Military Readiness, told the DCNF.

Data on the number of military families taking advantage of the program was not available at the time of posting. As of early July, the Air Force confirmed it granted 15 relocations under “exceptions to policy (ETP) for members experiencing a range of racial- and LGBTQ+-related discrimination” since 2021, without specifying whether the waivers were allowed under EFMPs, Military.com reported.

None of the other services is tracking family locations, public affairs officers told the outlet.

In 2017, when TRICARE began offering sex change interventions, at least 2,500 children of military parents put in for gender dysphoria benefits through TRICARE insurance, according to a study published in JAMA Pediatrics. About 900 received the puberty blocker GnRH-a or sex change hormones.

FLORIDA: Electric Companies Now Charging a State Approved Estimated $12 Billion in ‘Storm Surcharges’ to Every Floridian thumbnail

FLORIDA: Electric Companies Now Charging a State Approved Estimated $12 Billion in ‘Storm Surcharges’ to Every Floridian

By Royal A. Brown III

You may have noticed starting with your April-May power company electric bill a new charge entitled Storm Surcharge which varies based on the number of kWh of power you use. This is different from another state approved charge which you’ve been billed for entitled Storm Protection Charge which has occurred for much longer.

After waiting 38 mins* (starting approximately 9:20 am today) I finally got thru to a TECO Customer Service Agent to ask what the relatively new Storm Surcharge was about. The nice lady I talked with told me this was a new state approved charge to defray costs of hurricane damage to power company facilities, lines, transformers etc. by Hurricane Ian and was temporary e.g. would occur for 12 months (9 more to go).

I don’t know about you but I received no written notice from TECO explaining this new Storm Surcharge.

The Storm Protection Charge had previously been explained in writing under a page entitled Understanding Your Electric Charge and was defined as – “The cost of additional hardening efforts to further protect the power grid from hurricanes or other extreme weather events. (Note: Nothing about hardening against EMP events).

The very helpful TECO agent told me something else which was very disturbing along the lines of FL govt (I assume FL Dept of Financial Services – Division of Insurance but could be some other agency) was considering requiring every FL property owner be required to purchase flood insurance whether they live in a flood plane or not. I certainly hope this is not true as it would be very unfair for those of us who don’t live on the coasts or in other flood planes to bear the burden of bailing out those who do and suffer storm surges or other flood damage.

-If it turns out this is true then we tax paying property owners who don’t live in flood plains or flood prone areas should fight against this additional govt mandated expense.

*Note – the explanation for why I had to be on hole for so long was that electric company customers, especially the elderly have been inundated with scam calls often using power company phone numbers that they owe X ? on their electric bills and if they didn’t pay within 24 hours their power would be cut off and, link to send ? either by credit cards or with Bit Coins. This, in turn has led to many more phone calls to the power companies by customers. I was told they had reported this to LE agencies but nothing had been done to curtail these scams.

Storm Protection Plans: A Bonanza for Electric Utilities, a Bust for Consumers

By Patti Shea

Florida electric utilities’ storm protection plans will speed electricity restoration minimally, for very few customers, with dramatic rate increases for all. the plans are about utility profits, not storm protection. You still have time to take action!

AARP Florida has been closely following developments at the Public Service Commission (PSC) regarding Florida electric utilities’ Storm Protection Plans (SPPs). Florida’s for-profit monopoly utilities are using the opportunity and incentives provided by a recently-enacted SPP state law to make massive and largely ineffective investments in Florida’s electric grid. The plans anticipate rate increases of $18 to $29 per customer, per month by 2029, though there is no way to measure post-storm restoration performance, and no way to hold utilities accountable for proposed improvements.

On Aug. 10, in rubber-stamp hearings that were part of rushed regulatory proceedings, PSC commissioners unanimously approved the four utilities’ SPPs (Florida Power & Light (FPL), Duke Energy Florida, Tampa Electric Company, and Gulf Power Company). AARP Florida members should know these facts:

  • AARP Florida estimates Florida electric customers will pay $40 billion for implementation of the plans by 2059, including an estimated $12 billion in profits for utilities.
  • All customers will subsidize a tiny few. Despite the SPPs massive size, few customers will experience shorter storm-related outages. For example, just 4 percent of FPL’s residential customers and 5 percent of Duke Energy’s customers will get their overhead powerlines undergrounded.
  • The SPPs are not strategic, and do not consider any modern options for reducing grid dependence, such as: solar, batteries, or a more decentralized electricity system.
  • None of the SPPs complied with the PSC’s own Rules (25-6-030) for such plans.

A transgender murderer who killed both her babies and stuffed one of their bodies into a Tupperware container is to receive tax payer funded breast implants.

Jessica Marie Hann, born Jason Michael Hann, was sentenced to death in 2014 for murdering her 10 week old daughter Montana and her two month old son Jason in 2001 and 1999.

Hann was convicted over the killing of the two children after authorities discovered their decomposed bodies in storage units in Arkansas and Arizona.

Reduxx reported that Hann was originally held on death row at San Quentin following his trial but was transferred to Central California Women’s Facility after she began to identify as a women.

After California Governor Gavin Newsom ordered a halt to the death penalty in the state, Hann was allowed to move into the general population and is now reportedly awaiting a tax-payer subsidized breast augmentation, according to the outlet.

Hann was transferred to Central California Women’s Facility, pictured here, after she began to identify as a women.

In February of 2002, the badly decomposed remains of Montana were found in a Tupperware container after being abandoned in a storage facility in Arkansas four months earlier.

Mann and her partner Krissy Werntz had been living in a trailer at the time and kept Montana’s remains underneath their bed.

The two then rented a storage unit to store their trailer, which was then sold at auction after the rent went unpaid.

The buyer of the unit then found Montana’s remains while emptying the contents of the container.

Court documents say her hand was visible and her head was completely encased in several layers of duct tape.

An autopsy of Montana found she had suffered fractures to her skull which had been caused by ‘severe blunt force’.

Her left tibia had also been fractured, with the Arkansas medical examiner saying that it was caused by bending or twisting her leg as ‘if you wanted to break a pencil’.

This discovery led police on a nationwide search for her parents and traced the license plate of the trailer to Hann.

Family Forced to Pay to Transfer Body of Marine Killed in Afghanistan Withdrawal—But Billions for Ukraine thumbnail

Family Forced to Pay to Transfer Body of Marine Killed in Afghanistan Withdrawal—But Billions for Ukraine

By The Geller Report

But billions for Ukraine and breast surgeries for double murdering males…and God knows what else.

This is an outrage.

‘Egregious injustice’ says Rep. Cory Mills

By Efthymis Oraiopoulos, The Epoch Times, July 27, 2023:

The family of one of the 13 fallen U.S. Marines in the 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal was asked to pay $60,000 to transfer her body to Arlington National Cemetery, according to her family.

Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.) was the first to make this known after contacting the fallen Marine Corps Sgt. Nicole Gee’s family, Fox reported.

Mr. Mills told Fox that he was “enraged to learn that the Department of Defense had placed a heavy financial burden” on Gee’s family.

Because of a change in legislation, the Department of Defense (DOD) is no longer obliged to pay for the transfer of fallen service members, according to Mills’s office.

Christin Shamblin, Gee’s mother-in-law, told Fox that the DOD paid to transfer her body to Sacramento, California, Gee’s place of residence and recruitment station, where services were held. When Gee’s family wanted to transfer her body to Arlington National Cemetery, they learned that the cost was $60,000, according to Gee’s husband.

As her husband was trying to find a solution, a nonprofit, Honoring Our Fallen, contacted him offering to transfer the body with a private flight.

Gee’s family wasn’t clear on how to move her body to Arlington, saying the process was complicated.

Mr. Mills said the responsibility should fall on the DOD and not burden the family of the fallen with a “staggering $60,000” bill.

“It is an egregious injustice that grieving families were burdened to shoulder the financial strain of honoring their loved ones. This is an unacceptable situation that demands immediate rectification,” he said.

A Pentagon spokesperson told Fox:

“Through the transfer of remains process, Marine Corps casualty assistance officers were in direct communication with Sgt. Gee’s family, and they remain in contact today. In the case of Sgt. Gee, the Marine Corps stayed consistent with its policy that all costs associated with internment be borne by the government. At this time, we have no record of any incurred charges or any pending requests for reimbursement associated with the transportation of Sgt. Gee’s remains to Arlington National Cemetery. The Marine Corps takes very seriously the transfer of remains of our Marines—they never leave a Marine behind, and they care for the families of their fallen Marines.”

Honoring Our Fallen founder Laura Herzog said she was “honored to work directly with Sgt. Nichole Gee’s family after she was killed in Afghanistan.”

“The Marine Corps flew her remains to California so the people of Sacramento could pay her their respect,” Ms. Herzog said. “Sgt Gee’s family then decided they wanted her interred in Arlington National Cemetery. To avoid having Sgt. Gee’s remains be transported via a commercial airline, I personally secured an in-kind donation of a flight in a private aircraft. Sgt. Gee’s family accepted the donation of a flight, and Honoring Our Fallen, as a nonprofit 501 (c3), accepted the in-kind donation.”

She noted that no “monies were exchanged or expected to be paid by our organization or the family.”

“This was a donation made by a veteran who donated this service to us to assist us in honoring Sgt. Gee,” Ms. Herzog said. “We are proud of our support to Sgt. Gee and her family. It takes a village, and I am proud of our communities that came together to honor and support her sacrifice.”

The Real Cost of an Open Border: How Americans are Paying the Price thumbnail

The Real Cost of an Open Border: How Americans are Paying the Price

By Dr. Rich Swier

On July 26th, 2023 the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Border Security and Enforcement, led by Chairman Clay Higgins (R-LA), and the Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Law Enforcement, and Intelligence, led by Chairman August Pfluger (R-TX), held a joint hearing to examine the tragic human cost of Alejandro Mayorkas and Joseph Robinett Biden Jr.’s historic humanitarian border crisis.

Below is the testimony of Todd Bensman Senior National Security Fellow, Center for Immigration Studies.

The Center for Immigration Studies is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit research organization founded in 1985. It is the nation’s only think tank devoted exclusively to research and policy analysis of the economic, social, demographic, fiscal, and other impacts of immigration on the United States.

Watch Todd Bensman’s opening statement on the real cost of an open U.S.-Mexico border,

TRANSCRIPT OF TODD BENSMAN’S TESTIMONEY

Messr. Chairman Higgins, Ranking Member Correa, Chairman Phluger, and Ranking Member Magaziner and Members of the Subcommittees, thank you for inviting me here today to discuss the important issue of impacts from the worst mass migration crisis ever to have occurred at the American southern border. And what is happening at that border is, by every possible metric on government record, the worst such mass migration in the American experience, now well into its third year with at least four million foreign nationals allowed to enter and stay in the United States for their illegal crossing efforts.

I have studied, analyzed and reported border issues for more than 17 years. First, during my 23-year career as a journalist for major media outlets through 2009. Then for nine years as an intelligence analyst for the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Intelligence and Counterterrorism Division, and since 2018 as a senior national security fellow for CIS.

In the official capacity of my current role, I have spent a great deal of the past two-and-a-half years on the ground, both sides of the border, usually with the immigrants before and after they cross. And from thousands of their testimonials, I have written the only comprehensive first draft of this historic event’s causes and effects, in my book OVERRUN.

In it, I document the genesis of this incredible continuous event to specific policies that went into effect on President Joe Biden’s Inauguration Day, which immigrants unanimously tell me are the main reasons they decided to journey across the southern border.

The administration put a freeze on required border enforcement measures and fast-tracked release of the majority of illegal crossers into the country where they and most experts know they will stay forever.

And on their cell phones, which every immigrant has, they sent word of this incredible bonanza down trail, to home villages and all along the migration trails. And in this way, those first tens of thousands who began crossing on inauguration day quickly became hundreds of thousands a month, and then millions a year. Counting an estimated 1.7 million never apprehended, probably more than 4 million have entered the country from the border in a mere 30-month span. Perhaps as many as six million largely uneducated and needy people will be in the country before the Biden policies might first be reversed in the 2024 national elections and the floodgates closed.

Those millions of policy-enticed entries in so short a time already are – and will have – transformative impacts in the form of unplanned-for demands on public welfare and assistance programs, health care systems, Social Security, housing, labor markets, schools, and the criminal justice system.

It is too early in the crisis to measure many of these impacts – assuming anyone is willing to do this politically aversive work. But, despite political reticence to do so, Congress, researchers, media reporters and state and local governments should endeavor to measure impacts in three general areas where indicators of consequential change are already well indicated: public school burdens, unnecessary preventable crime, and unfunded burdens for local communities.

Public School Systems

Probably the very first area of civic life where most Americans will experience the impact of the Biden border crisis will be in the public schools. Local schools face the most immediately visible impacts because a main feature of the Biden border crisis, and also of the earlier Trump swell of late 2018–early 2019, was that immigrants in family groups around the world discovered a certain legal loophole – known as the Flores Settlement. The 2015-amended settlement requires DHS to release immigrant families with young children from detention within 21 days to pursue years of mostly ineligible asylum claims while living inside the United States, rather than to be deterred by detention and deportation.

Children became extremely valuable as tickets into America. So millions of people in family units brought school-aged children in for the Flores Settlement quick-release treatment. At the same time, non-Mexican children traveling without a parent learned they could exploit the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA of 2000) to gain release within three days, sparking rushes on the border of unaccompanied minors.

School-aged children poured in over the border with parents or guardians, or alone unaccompanied by the hundreds of thousands and then the millions to gain the advantage of these quick-release loopholes.

That mostly ended when former President Donald Trump introduced Remain in Mexico and Title 42 instant expulsions for all illegal entrances as a Covid control measure.

But then the Biden administration on day one opened exemptions in Title 42 expulsions, and ended the Migrant Protection Protocols, or Remain in Mexico. These moves allowed for the quick interior releases of a majority of immigrant families, unaccompanied minors, and pregnant and postpartum women.

The public is never told how many advanced-stage or school-aged children got in through these exemptions and entered public school systems.

Based on publicly available data, it’s difficult to estimate just how many school-aged children brought in over the border joined the estimated 49 million children enrolled in American public school systems.1

But national enrollments would have had to include a bulk of the 545,000 unaccompanied minors enticed by policy to cross since 2019 – 388,748 of them just since 2020. Hundreds of thousands more would surely have crossed in to enroll among the 1.9 million foreign nationals apprehended as family units from 2018 to date.  Up-to-minute data is not yet available but, as of 2021, 11 million public school students from immigrant-headed households (legal and illegal) accounted for nearly one out of four students in public schools, more than double the 11 percent in 1990 and more than triple the 7 percent in 1980.2

As for the hundreds of thousands that have certainly driven those percentages much higher since 2021, school districts across America had to enroll them under a 1982 Supreme Court ruling regardless of immigration status, numbers, costs, and hardships.

What might those be?

Spiking enrollments that force school districts to hold successive tax-hiking bond elections to purchase portable classrooms, build new schools, expand existing schools, hire more administrators, janitors, security officers, school cafeteria workers, and hire more English as a Second Language teachers, according to complaints leaching into the public realm.

For instance, in and around New York City, a significant surge of 5,000 immigrant children flooded into four counties in a single eleven-month span through August 2021, posing a $139 million unplanned burden on New York taxpayers to educate them.3  The arrivals of mostly teenage boys created a classroom crisis that strapped educational resources and aided gang-recruiting efforts, the New York Post reported. In May 2022, New York City education officials grappling with older illiterate teen immigrants who have gone years without formal education agreed to launch a pilot program that would all 400 “newcomers” fan out to identified high schools where they can learn English.4

In Austin Independent School District, teachers protested in April 2022 about a 400-student influx of immigrant teenagers from Central America at its International High School and Eastside Early College High School campus.5 Teachers complained they were left to give instruction in hallways and conference rooms. Similar scenarios are unfolding more quietly in school districts across America.

For what that may look like in extreme form, parents whose children attend public schools across the United States need look no farther than Cleveland Independent School District (CISD) in East Texas’s Liberty County about 40 miles northeast of Houston. A sprawling new community called Colony Ridge, whose new and established residents – and CISD’s School Superintendent – universally acknowledge that many are illegally present in the United States, has boomed inside the CISD’s 143 square miles to some 60,000 as of 2021.6

In 2019, the growth driven by largely immigrant children prompting the Texas Education Agency to label CISD a “hyper-growth” district.7

CISD Enrollments exploded from 3,693 K-12 students and four main schools in 2011-2012 to more than 12,000 in 2022. From four schools, CISD is now 12 schools and 60 portable classrooms funded by continual bond elections and with plans for a $1.2 billion expansion to twenty more schools over the next decade to accommodate an anticipated student body of 20,000 students as Colony Ridge continues a massive migration-fueled expansion. A decade ago, CISD was 40 percent Hispanic. Now it is 90 percent and very different from the old country days.

In 2022, I traveled to CISD and Colony Ridge as part of research for my book Overrun and interviewed students, parents, teachers and the superintendent Stephen McCanless. From them, I learned that the district’s ills there take many forms. Classroom and school overcrowding have required portable classroom farms, sharp spending increases to hire new teachers and bus drivers, continual requests for voters to approve bonds to build new schools, fallouts from language barriers and uneven education levels, less individualized teacher time per student, poorer academic performances for all, and public safety concerns.

What I learned from public records and my interviews was that most of the new students can’t speak English. Those with limited English proficiency rose from 20 percent in the 2011-2012 school year to 55 percent in 2021-2022. English-as-a-Second Language curricula now makes up more than half of all school curricula. The entire teaching staff is required to obtain state ESL certification or an equivalent one, and expensive and time-consuming endeavor requiring constant management. The majority of parents speak limited English too and stay away, some for fear of deportation.

Many of the new students were teenagers who couldn’t read or write. Broad language barriers suppress academic achievement. Student-teacher ratios range in the upper thirties per teacher for certain core classes. It’s crowd control, not education, one teacher told me. Some of the statistics are alarming. Nearly half of Cleveland High School’s students were considered to be at risk of dropping out. Nearly 60 percent of Cleveland Middle School’s 2,238 students were considered at risk of dropping out.8

“Texas Education Agency says they have a right to a free public education,” McCanless told me. “And I can’t put a fourteen-year-old in a second-grade class, so we put them in an age-appropriate grade level and we give them all the supports we can, and then you’re like, ‘how do we teach a fourteen-year-old how to read!? I mean, that should have been learned in first or second grade. But we have to do it. We’re doing it. We have some now. And then the state tells us they’re expected to take the state test!”

“How are they doing on the tests?” I asked. “How do you think?” McCanless replied.

The district has repeatedly asked voters to approve massive tax-spiking bond elections, an $85 million one in 2017, a $198 million one in November 2019, another for $150 million in 2021, another for $115 million in 2022. Weary voters approve some and reject others.9

Keeping up with this problematic growth is a nonstop desperate struggle that has left students with sub-par education and caused the flight of pre-existing students to other cities and towns. The growth has spawned a wide variety of social problems never seen in CISD’s history.

McCandless and teachers told me of gang formation, drug trafficking and violence came into the school system with the “newcomers.” “And we have dealt with them. And I have expelled them.”

No one seems to be systematically tracking these transformative kinds of impacts anywhere in America’s public schools.

But while the case of CISD is in many ways extreme, there can be no doubt that school districts across America are undoubtedly experiencing similar pain to greater or lesser degrees, suffering in silence.

A Great Unnecessary Crime Wave

For years, advocates of a borderless United States have pointed to academic-seeming “studies” that compare illegal alien criminality to American citizen criminality and then conclude that Americans commit more than the illegal immigrants.10 Its progenitors cite the comparison to nullify concerns about illegal immigrant crime. They use it to argue that the American people should leave the illegal immigrants alone and more properly tend to American citizen criminals.

The result of these comparative “studies” is that while America keeps busy with the ostensibly more real problem of US citizen crime, the nation’s leaders let the illegal immigrant flow continue unimpeded since that population is so much less worrisome.

But this “comparative research” diverting concern from illegal immigrant crime constitutes one of the greatest academic and intellectual frauds in the annals of immigration studies.

The notion that these two groups should be compared is intellectual misconduct of the highest order, a sham campaign that almost surely has extended the unnecessary carnage against American citizens and lawful residents. The comparison studies factory is a sham because illegal immigrants, and especially those with knowable criminal histories, are uniquely subject to government deportation and detention, which does not exist for American citizens and lawful residents.

So, unlike every crime committed by American citizens, every crime committed by illegally present immigrants with criminal histories was avoidable. Because illegal immigrants are constantly subject to entry blockage and removal, all of their crimes must be counted as a 100 percent net-gain increase of a social ill that hurts real people in the worst imaginable ways on a consistent, long-term basis.

Conversely, American citizens and lawful residents, obviously, are not subject to a national government apparatus in place to block and remove them from American territory so that they are not present to commit crime. America is stuck with its criminal citizens before, during, and after every crime they commit. The DHS detention and removal machine cannot and will not ever prevent a single crime by an American citizen.

That is a Grand Canyon-sized difference between the two groups disqualifying them for comparison in crime or anything else, like how often both use public assistance. Immigration enforcement will always eliminate or reduce the presence of illegal immigrants who commit crimes but never American residents. Americans have no choice but to suffer every single American citizen-committed crime but should never have to suffer one single illegal immigrant-committed crime.

Illegal immigrant crime is notoriously difficult to measure because doing so is politically aversive to government agencies in politically liberal precincts. But in addition to sudden painful public school enrollments, most Americans will suffer more crime committed by more illegal immigrants. Most U.S. states do not keep track of crime committed by illegal immigrants, and neither does the federal government.

Only Texas tracks much of its crime by noncitizenship and its data is likely indicative of crime trends in other large-population states.

It is too early as of this writing to guess the extent to which alien crime that will result from the Biden border crisis.

But if the past is any indicator of the future and the Texas numbers can indicate problem scope, America is in for a sustained unnecessary crime wave of preventable murder, rape, child abuse, burglary, felony theft, drug trafficking, alien smuggling, and drunken driving manslaughter on a higher permanent scale.

The Texas Department of Public Safety learns the immigration status of suspects booked into local jails through a program that submits fingerprints to the FBI for criminal history and warrant checks, and to DHS, which returns immigration status information on those whose fingerprints were already on file (which is not all of them).11

The glimpse is limited and not a reflection of much almost certain higher totals, but it is telling about the trend line ahead across America. Between June 1, 2011, and July 31, 2022, these 259,000 illegal aliens were charged with more than 433,000 unnecessary, preventable criminal offenses. Those included 800 homicide charges (resulting in 374 convictions as of July 2022), 822 kidnapping charges (resulting in 265 convictions), 5,470 sexual assault charges (resulting in 2,593 convictions), 6,485 sexual offense charges (resulting in 3,065 sexual offense convictions), and 4,945 weapons charges (resulting in 1,723 weapons convictions).

What the Texas data show is that hundreds of dead people should be alive, thousands of sexual assault and sexual offense victims should never have suffered the trauma, and tens of thousands of assault charges involving victims would not have been hurt.

The Texas data also shows that criminal aliens took up police time and clogged up the American justice system that could have been more dedicated to American criminals. Thousands of drug, burglary, robbery, and weapons charges need not have jammed the Texas criminal justice systems at taxpayer cost.

The Texas program found that another 10,590 illegal aliens were identified while they were in Texas state prisons over the past decade. Among them were prisoners serving time for 119 more unnecessary homicides.

Back to Liberty County’s massive settlement of Colony Ridge, legacy residents are increasingly alarmed by criminal atrocities never seen before. On April 29, a five-time deported Mexican national who owned a home in neighboring San Jacinto County allegedly murdered five members of a Honduran family that lived next door after they complained that his firing of a semi-automatic assault-style rifle at 11 p.m. was keeping the baby awake. He allegedly killed mothers and children, two of whom miraculously survived the massacre under the bodies of their parents who died shielding them.12

That one made national news but many other atrocities and evidence of Mexican cartel operations in the area did not, such as the April 2023 murder of two former area middle school students found riddled with bullets in a car.13

In 2020, an illegal alien from Mexico who settled in Colony Ridge chained two house cleaners to a bed and sexually assaulted them in a blackmail scheme during which he took nude photos.14 The nightmare ended when one of the women attempted an escape in her vehicle but didn’t make it; her assailant managed to shoot her to death and set her car on fire with her inside before fleeing back to Mexico. Border Patrol caught him trying to cross again in California a short time later.13

In 2016, owners of a Colony Ridge lot who were clearing it of brush discovered the decomposing remains of a single mother of five children named Esmeralda Pargas-Nunez, 42, who’d been reported missing a month earlier. It took two years, but homicide detectives tracked down her alleged killer to Houston in 2018, another woman named Sabrina Olarosa Garcia, and charged her with murder.15 This was evidently part of a kidnapping scheme in Houston where the alleged murderer first lured her victim to a meeting.

In September 2022, passersby in Colony Ridge found the body of a 16-year-old Honduran girl who’d been shot to death and dumped in a ditch by the side of a road, still wearing her uniform from her work busing tables at a local restaurant. Gang unit police arrested three foreign nationals, all under 21, and charged them with the murder of Emily Rodriguez-Avila, citing “gang overtones” as a motive. The family shipped her body back to Honduras for burial.

In June 2022, a Liberty County dog brought home a human hand, which led to the discovery of a badly decomposed body of a man who had been buried with his gun. Police couldn’t identify the corpse and were left to post photos of the clothing in hopes someone would recognize them.

The Gulf and Sinaloa Cartels invested in Colony Ridge from its earliest inception, they said, financing lots for local operatives to run safe houses through which they move smuggled drugs and people from the border to interior America. They were using them still to smuggle people coming in under Biden.

Evidence of cartel involvement dates to the earliest days of the illegal-alien settlement boom. To at least 2013, when federal, state, and local investigators raided a Mexican drug cartel’s marijuana grow operation on 300 acres in Liberty County, finding explosives, 6,000 marijuana plants, worker bunk houses, and guard towers.16 Local police at the time called it the “largest and most sophisticated marijuana-growing operation” in the county’s history.

In July 2021, the DEA broke that dubious record with the new biggest drug bust in Liberty County history with a raid that broke up a multimillion-dollar methamphetamine manufacturing lab operating inside one of the Colony Ridge dwellings.

During a recent trip, a police investigator drove me around several town neighborhoods pointing out high-end brick homes where cartel management figures lived before they were busted or moved away.

This kind of criminality grew so problematic by 2021 that the fearful town leaders of Plum Grove established a first police department that works in concert with two county-paid bilingual constables that Liberty County funded to exclusively patrol Colony Ridge.

The addition of several police officers amounts to a drop in the ocean, one officer from the region told me. Drive-by shootings, stealing, and drug trafficking are rampant, victimizing mostly the new community.

Indeed, a five-month-long gang and narcotics investigation by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office came to a dramatic end in December 2021 with the arrest of two 15-year-old boys and a 17-year-old boy who were part of a violent drug-trafficking racket in Colony Ridge.17

After three or four months where the boys would engage in gun battles with drug buyers who wouldn’t pay on time, local police had to investigate. When the day came to make arrests, the armed 17-year-old rammed a police car during a pell-mell car chase near Plum Grove, fled home, and barricaded himself in his house until a SWAT unit had to extract him and a girlfriend inside, who also was arrested amid drugs that were found.18

If those who committed these crimes were in the country illegally, none of this should have happened since they and their parents would not be present if immigration laws were followed.

Within Texas, which probably is emblematic of many other states, Liberty County reflects a microcosm of what unnecessary crime can look like anywhere large numbers of foreign nationals who are only thinly vetted settle. Much more of this is on the way to communities across America, whether anyone systematically records it or not.

American cities and towns feeling under siege

The pain of unfunded impact from the White House’s mass illegal immigration crisis can be heard in the ever-lengthening lists of cities and towns forced to contend with unmitigated inflows of needy immigrants from the southern border.

Cities as far north as Chicago and as far west as Denver are squealing in pain from unfunded burdens of having to shelter, feed, clothe, medically treat, and support never-ending inflows of needy, uninsured, limited English-speaking immigrants from throughout the world.

Cities such as Washington DC, New York, and Chicago have declared states of emergency and demanded federal bailouts that will come at the taxpayer expense to feed, house, and care for tens of thousands of illegal immigrants allowed into the country to stay under Biden policies.19

No one wants to share the pain of sudden massive influxes of dependent, needy immigrants in New York, the ultimate not-in-my-backyard issue. New York City and 30 state counties are locked in litigation over plans to export immigrants to them as 15,000 new immigrants a month pour into the city.20 Nine New York State counties were suing to block New York City’s immigrant-export operations.

American citizens, including veterans, are displaced from city-run homeless shelters as towns and cities fill up all available public spaces, to include public school auditoriums and college dorm rooms. Cities and towns along the Texas border have declared border-related disasters and emergencies, to include Brownsville, Laredo, and El Paso. One town 400 miles from the border, Cold Spring one county over from Liberty, declared a migration-related emergency as recently as June because of a “massive surge of drug and human smuggling” associated with the border crisis.21

As the Biden border crisis grinds on and on, expect the silent majority of cities and towns across America to add their voices of pain and protest to the lengthening list. They will do so because their leaders have correctly assessed that this massive new population of needy foreigners will burden and transform their communities without their say-so.

‘The Democrat Socialist Party Is Throwing a Hissy Fit and I’m Looking Forward to the Fight’

By Family Research Council

The Biden team has spent an awful lot of time talking about Senator Tommy Tuberville — but barely any time talking to him. That changed briefly Tuesday when Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin decided to carve out a few short minutes to address what Democrats would have you believe is the single greatest threat to military readiness: a few months’ delay in flag officer promotions.

Their brief conversation was hardly indicative of the hair-on-fire crisis the White House keeps insisting it is. Based on Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s comments Tuesday, you’d think the Alabama coach was a bigger threat to America than communist China. “I wanted to start today, once again, by calling out an unprecedented harm that Senator Tuberville’s actions have to our military readiness and military families — to every branch of our Armed Forces, disrespecting those who serve and the families who serve with them.”

Her Pentagon counterpart, John Kirby, took it a step further, blaming the Republican for everything from the DOD’s recruitment woes to a loss in military talent. At one point, he even accused Tuberville of “abusing” military families (as if somehow underwriting the slaughter of their unborn offspring isn’t).

Asked how his conversation went with Austin, the coach admitted they hadn’t made much progress. “No, not yet,” he told reporters. “None. … Just cordial [conversations]. Everybody gives their position and then, ‘Well, let’s talk again.’”

That talk may be unnecessary, depending on the progress Republicans make with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) in the Senate. Thanks to the House’s conservatives, the latest version of the military spending bill includes language that would roll back the Pentagon’s illegal taxpayer-funded abortion policy — the very lawlessness fueling Tuberville’s stand.

The sooner the better, Tuberville told Family Research Council President Tony Perkins on Tuesday’s “Washington Watch.” “We’re looking forward to getting some closure to this. It’s been a pretty good fight for about six months now, but they’re really ramping up the pressure. I’ve got the IRS after me. I’ve got national TV going to Alabama interviewing people. You know, it’s just one thing after another. … They’re turning up the heat, but they don’t know what heat’s all about.” As for the battle heating up in the Senate, the coach said, “The Democrat socialist party is throwing a hissy fit. … Let them. I’m looking forward to the fight.”

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) inched closer to a compromise Wednesday, announcing that he wouldn’t stand in the way of a vote on the military’s policy. “The bottom line is that if he wants to have an affirmative vote, we would not object to it,” the New York Democrat said during a press conference. “Tuberville said he wanted a vote, we’ll see what happens.”

The offer seemed to surprise Tuberville, who was informed and replied, “Oh, really? Well, I’ll have to talk to him. … I’ve never talked to him in two and a half years.”

Meanwhile, Schumer ramped up the hyperbole, insisting that Republicans should do a better job keeping their senators in line. “They are risking our security, and it’s up to them to fix it.”

Give me a break, Tuberville told Perkins. “If I thought I was holding up readiness and national security [in] this country, I wouldn’t be doing this. But that’s not happening. What’s causing our readiness [problems] is the woke policies that this administration is pushing. It’s awful. … And I don’t think they really understand what they’re doing to — not just the military — but all of our other institutions. But it is a total mess right now.”

As Republicans have argued since the beginning, the military has never provided abortion on demand at taxpayers’ expense — not under conservative administrations and not under liberal ones. “You can’t change the rules in the middle of the game,” the coach insisted. “And that’s exactly what they’re doing. They could care less about the Constitution. They have stomped all over our Constitution in the last two and a half years, and the American people should be outraged.”

At the end of the day, the coaching legend explained to Perkins, “The only way I’m going to move these holds is if they move that policy back, and then we bring a vote to the floor. And it’s pretty simple and we get back to business.” In the meantime, he warned, “… I’m standing up for the unborn, and I’m standing up for the taxpayers of this country. That’s what I’m here for.”

Millions More to Recruit Minorities for U.S. Jobless Benefits Amid Low Unemployment thumbnail

Millions More to Recruit Minorities for U.S. Jobless Benefits Amid Low Unemployment

By Judicial Watch

U.S. unemployment is low and stable, yet the Biden administration keeps giving states millions of dollars to boost the number of minorities—especially non-English speaking or limited-English proficient—that sign up for government jobless benefits. The goal is to address racial disparities and promote “equitable access” to the program. The money—an unprecedented $260 million—started flowing in early spring of 2022 to advance equity in state unemployment insurance. COVID-19 inspired the controversial project, according to the Department of Labor (DOL), the agency disbursing the funds. “Throughout the pandemic, disparities in access to benefits affected women, communities of color and other marginalized workers at a higher rate and often delayed delivery of much needed financial support and services,” the DOL announced last spring. “These disparities in access to unemployment insurance exposed serious real-world shortcomings in the outdated systems used to deliver state and territories unemployment insurance benefits.”

Specifically, the Biden administration aims to address disparities in the administration and delivery of unemployment benefits by race, ethnicity, language proficiency and disability status. To accomplish it, the DOL has directed states to use the taxpayer dollars to “support innovative strategies and solutions to promote equitable access” to unemployment compensation. “This includes funding that will increase public awareness of the program so more people apply, improve service delivery so claimants receive their first benefits in a timely manner and develop a better understanding of the equity challenges that need to be addressed,” the labor agency revealed last year. State officials can also use a portion of their grant to evaluate the effectiveness of programs they create with the federal funds. “To become a more robust safety net and economic stabilizer, our unemployment insurance system must serve all workers fairly and equitably,” Labor Secretary Marty Walsh declared.

The initial allocation of $20 million was split between three states—Oregon, Pennsylvania and Virginia—and the District of Columbia. Since then, the DOL has approved equity grants for 41 states and jurisdictions, a recent agency filing reveals. The document says that projects target a “wide range of underserved populations,” but identifies the top three as non-English or limited-English proficient, people with disabilities and low-income claimants with economic hardships. “States are continuing to use a diverse slate of strategies to promote equitable access to unemployment compensation programs,” the DOL writes. “Improving services to claimants and expanding access to services by improving technology or implementing new technology are primary areas of focus for most projects, with a core theme of resolving access barriers for underserved populations.” Some states are creating “customer outreach plans” that incorporate community-based groups representing the underserved populations.

Even though unemployment remains low, a few days ago the administration allocated an additional $9.5 million to sign up more minorities for unemployment benefits. The latest equity grants will go to Arkansas, Louisiana and Vermont so officials can implement projects that seek to remove barriers related to race, age, ethnicity, language proficiency and other system issues that make it difficult for people to access unemployment insurance benefits. Arkansas will get the biggest chunk, $4,562,000, with Louisiana receiving $2,661,616 and Vermont $2,283,000 to expand outreach, promote awareness, provide translation services and address disadvantaged communities’ other needs, according to the DOL. Not that long ago, the administration bragged about the record low unemployment rate among minorities, specifically black (5.4%) and Hispanic (4.5%) populations.

The minority unemployment benefit drive is part of a larger Biden administration effort to advance racial equity and support for underserved communities through the federal government. The costly initiative was launched back in January 2021 when the president issued an executive order claiming that “entrenched disparities” in laws, public policies, and private institutions have denied equal opportunity to individuals and communities and that the health and climate crises have exposed inequities while a “historic movement for justice has highlighted the unbearable human costs of systemic racism.” Following the order, Uncle Sam started cutting checks for the initiative and assigning special equity chiefs and commissions at agencies throughout the government.

A Defiant GOP Smashes Woke Military Policies with Rock-Solid NDAA

By Family Research Council

The biggest story of this past week isn’t that the House passed the military spending bill — or even that they passed it with language that beats back President Biden’s woke policies. The biggest story is the one that won’t be told: of House conservatives refusing to give an inch.

Former Congressman Jody Hice, now a special advisor to the president at Family Research Council, was blown away by the sea change in how this new Republican majority is doing business. For the last couple of years, Hice watched his party buckle under Democratic pressure, especially where military policy is concerned. “Progressively,” he told The Washington Stand, “the NDAA bills were becoming more and more woke. And we, as a Republican conference, were compromising to the demands on the Left. To see what took place Thursday night, I was just blown away. This is a major shift — not only from the woke agenda push from this administration — but this is a major shift from the direction of our own conference over the last several years, as it pertains to the NDAA.”

Late Thursday night, Republicans finally went to sleep after accomplishing what seemed impossible only hours before: adding a slew of pro-life, pro-military, anti-gender transition amendments to the bill. Democrats and the media spent the wee hours of the morning blasting the conservative changes, vowing it would never pass with such “poison pills.”

They were wrong.

Barely nine hours later, the entire NDAA — anti-woke language included — had squeaked by in a 219-210 vote, thanks to an even swap of Republicans and Democrats (four) trading sides. Reps. Jared Golden (D-Maine), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-Wash.), Gabe Vasquez (D-N.M.), and Don Davis (D-N.C.) all threw their support behind the GOP-led bill.

Of course, the most jubilant celebration came Thursday afternoon when Congressman Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) managed to include language rolling back the Pentagon’s taxpayer funding of abortion — an absolute defiance of the law. In one of the most powerful moments of that debate, mom-to-be Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) stood on the House floor and made it clear: “I am a United States veteran and a woman elected to Congress while pregnant. Advocating for a service member to have a child ripped from her womb completely destroys everything this military stands for.”

As Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) explained on “Washington Watch” moments before that vote, what the Department of Defense did with this sudden policy was nothing but an unconstitutional “end run around many of the pro-life states’ laws and all the hard work that’s been done after Dobbs overturned Roe.”

“This has become a really important issue in the country,” Johnson insisted. And what they’ve done, he explained, is used “executive fiat” through the Department of Defense. Secretary Lloyd Austin “[has] said that they will pay for or reimburse expenses relating to abortion services. So in other words, if a service member or a woman serving is pregnant, and she’s on a base somewhere in a [red state] … then she can travel to a state that provides abortion — and taxpayers will reimburse her for that. That’s a violation of the Hyde Amendment,” Johnson fumed.

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins made sure to emphasize, “Just to be very clear here, we’re talking about elective abortions. So this is new territory [President Biden is staking out]. For decades, [there] has been a bipartisan position that taxpayers would not be forced to facilitate abortion.”

Obviously, this has been a huge flash point in the Senate, where Coach Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) has taken months of heat for holding up certain military promotions until the DOD drops its reckless abortion advocacy. And while Democrats — the president included — blame the senator for everything from recruitment problems to retention, they refuse to even meet with Tuberville. If this delay was really so devastating to military readiness, the coach has said, you’d think Biden would pick up the phone and try to negotiate.

“That’s what this place is about,” he added. “It’s about working with each other, talking it out, getting in situations where you can maybe compromise to a point. I mean, here’s a guy that doesn’t even want to talk.”

He may be forced to, now that Republicans have teed up a 1,200-page rebuke of the last two years of Defense Department radicalism. If Biden wants to blame someone for America’s shrinking force, he ought to look in the mirror.

After all, it’s “the president and his administration [who’ve] injected into the military all of this woke social policy nonsense. … We have ESG and DEI and anything else you can imagine —the funding of drag queen shows on military bases, [the] violation of parental rights. We were able to get amendments … to take care of all of that,” Johnson said. But frankly, “it’s far more contentious than it should be. You know, our military has a very important job,” he insisted. “They’re trained to be a powerful force that wins wars and defends our nation, not experimentation with social policy. And so it’s just completely disingenuous for the president to [blame Republicans or blame Tuberville for these problems]. … [I]t’s not Republicans and conservatives that are inserting this. It was him. We’re undoing the damage that has been done.”

Along with crushing the Biden abortion policy, Republicans also held the line on the avalanche of diversity training and wildly inappropriate mission creep like taxpayer-funded gender transitions. Amendments to:

  • Outlaw the flying of Pride flags on military property (Norman Amendment #34) passed 218-213;
  • End the indoctrination of children in Defense Department schools by banning pornographic and dangerous gender ideology books (Boebert Amendment #35) passed 222-209;
  • Ban taxpayer-funding of gender transition procedures (Rosendale Amendment #10) passed 222-211;
  • Strip the funding for Chief Diversity Officers or Senior Advisors for Diversity and Inclusion from the ranks (Roy Amendment #30) passed 217-212; and
  • Outright block the DOD from creating new DEI administrator positions or taking action to fill existing DEI jobs (Burlison Amendment #62) passed 218-213.

One lone Democrat — Rep. Henry Cuellar (Texas) — voted with conservatives to stop the president’s out-of-control extremism on abortion and transgenderism. And while he refused to comment about the decision, he probably heard from the same constituents that his neighbor Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) did. “The American people I’ve talked to back home don’t want a weak military; they don’t want a woke military; they don’t want rainbow propaganda on bases; they don’t want to pay for troops’ sex changes.”

And yet, as Perkins pointed out, Biden blames Republicans for injecting social issues into the military. “You know, it’s like they poke the bear, and the bear pushes back — and they accuse the bear of being aggressive. The Left has been pushing this stuff for years.” And finally, conservatives pushed back.

“I do want to point out,” Perkins said, “that there’s something unique here under this Republican Congress. … I don’t want people to miss that … a year ago, we couldn’t even have a debate under the Democratic rules. There was no debate. It’s just that you were steamrolled in the Left’s process of getting their agenda through. … [This open dialogue] is something that hasn’t happened in a very long time.

“Yeah, what a concept,” Johnson joked. “We were able to get some real process reforms in that long, drawn-out battle for the speakership in January. And as painful as that process was for everyone, the result was really good. We got transparency again. We eliminated—forever, we hope—the possibility of omnibus spending bills and giant pieces of legislation that no one has read. … It takes a lot more time and effort, but this is what is demanded, and it’s what the American people deserve. And I’m really glad we’ve gotten back to some regular order here.”

In the meantime, Republicans are crossing their fingers that the heavy lifting they’ve done on the NDAA survives the Democrat-led Senate. One thing’s for sure, Perkins said. Biden doesn’t have Tuberville to kick around anymore. If he wants to end the freeze on military promotions, there’s a simple solution now: support this bill. “The remedy’s right here in front of him.”

U.S. Airforce Penniless and Navy Attack Subs are Drydocked! thumbnail

Let’s Go Brandon: U.S. Air Force Has a Funding Shortfall under Biden’s Leadership

American Liberty Report | 7/19/2023

In the latest sign that Joe Biden is working directly for Communist China, the U.S. Air Force now has a funding shortfall. The Air Force has to suspend all bonuses and promotions for the next three months.

The reason? Costs due to Joe Biden’s inflation have basically caused the Air Force to run out of money. Jet fuel that cost $1.85 per gallon when President Trump was in office is now $5.07 a gallon under the creepy kid sniffer. Imagine the cost overruns when fuel for all the fighter jets and other Air Force planes suddenly jumps 2.75X over what it was.

The Air Force says that the pay freeze and promotion suspensions will likely affect tens of thousands of service members. This is happening right as the Congressional Research Service has announced that 40% of America’s 53 attack submarines are currently sitting in dry-dock and awaiting repairs.

Communist China’s navy is far superior to ours in the sheer number of ships and sailors that they have. The only thing that makes up the difference and balances things out is our attack submarines.

“To be prepared for war is one of the most effectual means of preserving peace.” -George Washington

The Naval Sea Systems Command says that “planning, material availability, and shipyard execution” are to blame for the attack subs being out of commission. It’s the fault of Pete Buttigieg’s supply chain woes, in other words. We can’t even get materials to quickly repair the subs.

Not to mention, China owns all the heavy metals needed for sub repairs, thanks to Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Hussein Obama shipping most of our steel manufacturing jobs over there.

The 2024 defense budget is set at $842 billion, which is a $26 billion increase over 2023 and a $100 billion increase over 2022. It’s perfectly normal for branches of the service to run out of funding right at the end of a fiscal year. Each branch is its own federal agency, so they make sure to spend all the available cash by the end of the year, to justify their budget for the next year.

But running out of money three months before the fiscal year is out? I can’t think of that ever happening under any other administration in US history.

For the next few months, nobody in the Air Force will receive a reenlistment bonus or bonus pay for extended deployments or difficult assignments. Oh, and it gets worse. Airmen who were expecting to move back to the US from overseas are stuck until next year. The money to move them and their families back here has dried up. It simply costs too much to move them.

Biden has actually cut Air Force funding. Biden reduced the Air Force budget by $194 million this fiscal year, even as he was sending close to $200 billion worth of cash and supplies to Ukraine.

Great job, Brandon!

The Air Force has faced minor shortfalls in the past, but the service has always been able to address that by cutting flight hours. They’ve never had to demoralize the entire branch of the service and all their family members by not paying them what they’re owed.

As for the submarines, that’s also a disaster in the making. With 40% of them in drydock, they’re not carrying out operations right now. The ones that are still in service—and the sailors on board them—have to fill in the gap. That puts a lot of strain on the working subs, meaning some of them may be added to the backlog soon. As we wait for China to send us the materials to repair them.

Just to give an idea of how bad the submarine crisis is, the USS Connecticut is one of three of our best Seawolf-class subs. It ran into an underwater mountain back in the fall of 2021. The sub won’t be repaired and back in operation until 2026 at the earliest.

You can’t chalk this up to incompetence on the part of Joe Biden and/or his “handlers.” They did this on purpose. It gets kind of scary when you think about all the bribes that Biden has taken from China, and now our military is suddenly running out of money.
