Voter Fraud in Presidential Elections Has Been Going on for at Least 60 Years. It’s Time to Call a Halt.

While the Left is acting as if it is unthinkable – absolutely inconceivable! – that a presidential election can be stolen, and that to suspect otherwise is to venture deep into tinfoil-hat territory, in reality, this kind of thing has happened before, and it’s high time it all came out and safeguards were implemented. In Stephen King’s novel 11/22/63 (spoiler alert!), the main character, Jake, travels back in time to try to stop Lee Harvey Oswald from shooting John F. Kennedy. Even though King drops Jake off in 1958, giving him five years in the Good Old Days, the great novelist never thinks to offer him the easiest way to ensure that Kennedy survives: rather than stopping Oswald, he could have had Jake stop JFK from stealing the 1960 presidential election from Richard Nixon.
As Rating America’s Presidents notes, the 1960 campaign is famous not for voter fraud, but for the televised debates between Nixon and Kennedy, the first debates between the presidential candidates of each major party. The effect of television may have decided the election. A majority of those who listened to the first debate on the radio thought Nixon had won, but on television, he had unwisely eschewed makeup and sweated profusely under the hot lights, making him look nervous and shifty. Most TV viewers thought Kennedy had won.
Nevertheless, the election itself was extremely close, with Kennedy winning only 112,000 more popular votes than Nixon, out of over 68 million cast; in the Congressional Quarterly’s count, Nixon won the popular vote.
Illinois and Texas decided the contest. Both were quite close themselves: if Nixon had won forty-seven thousand more votes in Texas (the home state of Democratic vice-presidential candidate Lyndon B. Johnson) and ten thousand in Illinois (where Democratic machine boss Richard Daley, the mayor of Chicago, held sway), he would have become president.
There was significant evidence that the Kennedy machine had committed voter fraud in both states. In Illinois, Daley’s Chicago machine made it easy: five days before the election, a Chicago group called the Committee on Honest Elections issued a report documenting its contention that fully ten percent of the people on Chicago voter rolls were listed as living in bars, barbershops, vacant lots and the like. Many had moved; many others were dead. The Committee also found unregistered voters having cast votes, including some who were apparently altogether fictional.
This report didn’t stop the fraud in Chicago. In the election, several Chicago districts recorded many more votes than they had registered voters, and Kennedy won big.
In Texas, meanwhile, Republicans charged that Democratic vice presidential candidate Lyndon Johnson, whose past recourse to voter fraud was legendary, had been up to his old tricks. In his 1948 Senate race, voters helpfully voted in alphabetical order to put Johnson over the top. Twelve years later, the Republicans contended, Johnson had made sure that tens of thousands of fraudulent votes were cast for Kennedy, while tens of thousands of other ballots, marked for Nixon, were invalidated, generally on the thinnest of pretexts.
Texas and Illinois would have given Nixon 270 electoral votes and the presidency. Despite massive evidence that he had been the victim of a grand theft, however, the Republican candidate declined to contest the election, saying that he did not wish to plunge the country into a crisis with the Cold War raging.
That was a noble sacrifice for Richard Nixon to make in 1960, and belies his post-Watergate reputation as a cynical, self-serving, crooked trickster. However, it is long past time for the victims of voter fraud, particularly in the presidential arena, to stop being noble. The problem with Kennedy’s successful theft of the 1960 election was that it paved the way for what we are seeing today, emboldening those forces who believed that they could carry out this larceny in public view of everyone without suffering any significant consequences.
If it was noble of Nixon to bow out in 1960 and not contest the theft, it is far more noble of President Trump in 2020 to contest this election, to gather all the available evidence and take it to the Supreme Court for judgment. Anything short of that will only embolden and enable the fraudsters all the more, to the degree that it may be impossible in the United States after this to have a free and fair presidential election.
As a result, it is not hyperbole to say that our future as a free republic hangs in the balance. The immense pressure on Trump to concede is only testimony to how deeply he has shaken the political and media elites. If they succeed in destroying him, they will be able to impose their will without fear of serious opposition. It’s time to break their hegemony now.

Domestic Violence More Than Doubled Under Lockdowns, New Study Finds

New research shows that domestic violence surged during quarantine.

The unintended consequences of the COVID-19 lockdowns have been severe: mass unemployment, increased drug overdoses and suicides, and widespread social unrest are but a few of them.
On Monday, the National Bureau of Economic Research released a paper detailing another: increased domestic violence.
Analyzing government-mandated lockdowns in India, researchers Saravana Ravindran and Manisha Shah found evidence of a 131 percent increase in complaints of domestic violence in May 2020 in “red zone districts,” or districts that experienced the strictest lockdown measures, relative to districts that had less strict measures (“green zones”).
The researchers, who used a difference-in-differences empirical strategy, found the increase in domestic violence complaints was consistent with a surge in Google search activity for terms related to domestic violence over the same period.
The authors’ findings “contribute to a growing literature on the impacts of lockdowns and stay-at-home policies on violence against women during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The findings, which also found a decline in reported sexual assaults because of decreased mobility, are similar to those from research that found lockdowns led to a 100 percent increase in intimate partner violence calls in Mexico City. A study analyzing data from police departments in four US cities showed smaller increases in domestic violence, 10-27 percent, during lockdown periods.
Globally about one-third of women experience “intimate partner violence” (IPV), which negatively impacts female earnings, labor participation, earnings, mental health, and household consumption.

Unseen Costs of Lockdowns

The global increase in domestic violence during the lockdown period has received relatively little attention, though CNN recently reported on the increase south of the US border.
In Mexico, federal lawmakers shut down most of its economy on March 23, urging people to stay indoors. Activists told the network the action spurred “an onslaught of domestic violence,” and data show 911 calls for domestic violence are up 44 percent from the same time the previous year.
“The lockdowns triggered violence in so many ways,” Perla Acosta Galindo, Director of Más Sueños A.C., a women’s community center, told CNN. “People can’t work, there’s alcoholism, overcrowding; it’s a lot.”

Lockdowns Are Destructive

To some degree, the COVID pandemic has been portrayed as a morality play. Some would have you believe those who care about people support lockdowns; those who don’t care about people oppose them. We’re presented with false choices: we can support the economy or protect American lives.
These types of arguments only serve to divide. They can also obscure a basic truth: there are human costs to lockdowns, besides the economic ones, that can ravage lives just as badly as any disease.
The Washington Post, for example, recently reported on ”a hidden epidemic within the coronavirus pandemic”: drug overdoses. One Ohio coroner said he can’t process the bodies fast enough.
“We’ve literally run out of wheeled carts to put them on,” Anahi Ortiz told the paper.
Statistics suggest the trend is national in scope. Data from the Overdose Detection Mapping Application Program show that overdoses were up 18 percent in March, 29 percent in April, and 42 percent in May from the same periods the previous year.
These statistics should come as no surprise. Social scientists have been writing about the deadly consequences of social isolation for years.
It’s not just higher stress levels, disrupted sleep patterns, and altered immune systems. One 2015 study determined that social isolation substantially increased the risk of stroke (32 percent) and heart disease (29 percent).
Social isolation is also linked to suicide. While there is no comprehensive 2020 data on suicides, anecdotal evidence suggests many are struggling to cope with quarantine life. In May, during the peak of the lockdowns, one California doctor told local media his hospital has seen “a year’s worth of suicide attempts in the last four weeks.”

Recognizing That Lockdowns Have Victims

As the French economist Frédéric Bastiat stressed, every policy, “produces not only one effect, but a series of effects.” The immediate and intended effects are what he calls “the seen,” while the indirect, unintended consequences are “the unseen.” “The seen” usually gets all the attention, while “the unseen” often goes neglected.
In this case, “the seen” are the victims of the virus and those who hopefully avoid spreading or catching the disease because of the lockdowns. They are, without a doubt, worthy of our care and attention.
But we also must not ignore “the unseen”: the millions of human beings who, as a result of the lockdowns, have become victims of domestic violence, drug overdoses, depression, suicide, and more.
As Antony Davies and James Harrigan wrote, “The uncomfortable truth is that no policy can save lives; it can only trade lives.” It may one day be determined that the lockdowns saved more lives than they destroyed, although recent evidence suggests the correlation between lockdown severity and COVID-19 deaths is weak. But let’s not underestimate the devastating human toll of this policy.
The lives ruined or snuffed out by the lockdowns deserve better than that. They deserve to be seen.

PODCAST: Where Does the GOP go from Here?

For Republicans, it’s time to get to work. The next presidential election is just four short years away and there is already plenty of things to be done before then. As Republicans, we were very lucky to have had President Trump as our candidate. His fire and energy on the campaign trail was like nothing we had ever seen. However, by 2024 we will have to find a new candidate and whoever becomes the front runner will likely not have the same energy. In other words, it will require more work by the candidate’s supporters than this year.
The far-left’s agenda will undoubtedly raise its ugly head again in another attempt to turn the country to socialism and immoral behavior. The next question obviously becomes, “What can we do about it?”
To win the next round, it will take more than just waving some flags, displaying signs, and calling people on the phone. Instead of a reactive mode of operation, which is typical of Republicans, how about a pro-active approach instead?
As I see it, we have four objectives to succeed:

Promote morality and education, thereby pushing back the lunatic left.
Implement legislation to prevent tampering with our electoral process.
Select a suitable candidate.
Reorganize Republican groups to make us more effective.

More specifically, consider the following ideas:
ACADEMIA – push local school boards for more education in terms of Civics, American History and socio-economics, e.g., teaching the differences between capitalism and socialism. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has started a program to teach the U.S. Constitution to high school students, but more is needed. It has become painfully obvious high school students do not understand the basics of our government or our duties as citizens, such as serving on a jury, understanding state sovereignty, and the need for the electoral college. If we want them to become responsible citizens, it is time to teach these basics again. We certainly do not need any more sheep.
NEWS MEDIA – it was bad enough President Trump had to compete against the Democrats, but he also had to take on the news media which has proven to be unreliable in terms of telling the truth to the American public. It is time to take them down and establish new venues with a journalistic code of conduct that promotes morality. The press has been at war with Republicans for far too long; it is now time to take the fight to them, such as picketing offices and demanding the resignation of people engaged in irresponsible reporting. This also includes “Fake Polling.”
MORALITY – politics is very much concerned with moral values. It ultimately represents our sense of right and wrong. I have been discussing morality for several years now and followed studies revealing its steady decline in our country. It is time to express our commitment to morality and applaud those who exhibit exemplary behavior. We should also support religious institutions any way we can, perhaps forming a group to visit local places of worship as guests.
LAW ENFORCEMENT – morality also includes respect for the rule of law. Following the “Summer of Hate,” where cities were burned, stores looted, people harmed, and police departments de-funded, it is time to fight back. There is a lot that can be done in this area, such as arranging tours for youths to law enforcement facilities, honoring local deputies and officials, a visit to the courts and prosecutor’s office, etc. All of this is educational for youth as well as adults.
MILITARY – as with law enforcement, respect begins with education, such as visiting a military base or pertinent museum.
GOP CLUBS – organize more committees and staff them with qualified people. Something to stress: it is no longer sufficient to just be a member of a group; now is the time to stress the concept of “membership requires participation.” It could be a large or small task, but the days of apathy are over, people must become pro-active. We are dealing with a determined opponent who doesn’t play fair and will change our world for the worse. If you want to sit on the sidelines, that is fine, but we need people who believe in the cause and will assume responsibility.
LEGISLATION – obviously, it is time to push for a new approach to voting which prohibits fraud, as well as enacting stiffer penalties for fraud, otherwise it will continue unabated thereby setting a bad example for future generations. We can no longer afford to waste time and money on fallacious voting results. Other legislation worth pursuing includes: shortening the campaign cycle and limiting campaign financing (thereby stunting the growth of the corrupt media), and enacting Congressional term limits.
CANDIDATES – Select and support the best candidates for office. We need moral people who support the Constitution, and offer skills conducive for leadership and proper American values. A litmus test of some kind would be useful to determine qualifications for a position. We certainly do not need more career politicians.
As mentioned, politics is morality in action. Over the years, we have dropped our guard and allowed our opponents to walk all over us and, as a result, we are paying a high price for it today. Now is the time for pro-active leadership, participation, and determination. As my old football coach was fond of saying, it’s time for a little “STUG” (that’s “Guts” spelled backwards).
The next presidential election may be four years away but we also must be cognizant of the midterm elections in 2022, that’s just two years from now. Let’s get started.

ROUND TWO: Trump vs Benson, The Stench in Detroit.

From intimidation tactics to physical interference with the ability to observe the ballot tabulation process, to the improper duplication of ballots, and the counting of ineligible ballots, Detroit’s voting process paints a picture of everything an election should not be.  Thus says a complaint, filed in the Western District of Michigan by the Trump campaign.
In a mostly-affidavit-supported, 31-page complaint with nearly 200 pages of enclosures, the Trump campaign charged that Wayne County officials did not follow Michigan’s Election Code.  Specifically, they did not provide a “meaningful opportunity to observe the conduct of elections.”  According to the complaint, there are over one hundred affidavits from “credentialed election challengers” attesting that Trump poll and process watchers were not given the opportunity to validate the legitimacy of absentee voter ballots, nor were they allowed to observe ballot counting. Some Republicans were not allowed to enter the TCF Center in Detroit where the ballot tabulations were taking place while others were not allowed to return if they stepped out.  Meanwhile, Democratic challengers were allowed to freely enter the premises.  The Republicans were also maintained further away from observation locations from their Democratic counterparts using techniques such as physically pushing them.  When removed, they were taunted and harassed, and even when allowed to remain, their lines of site were often intentionally obstructed.
Amazingly, “Challenger Kathleen Daavettila observed that Democratic challengers distributed a packet of information among themselves entitled, ‘Tactics to Distract GOP Challengers.’ Id. (Daavettila aff., p. 2). An election official told challenger Ulrike Sherer that the election authority had a police SWAT team waiting outside if Republican challengers argued too much. Id. (Sherer aff. ¶24). An election worker told challenger Jazmine Early that since “English was not [her] first language…[she] should not be taking part in this process.” Id. (Early aff. ¶11).”  At least one witness, who happened to be an attorney, described how poll workers were instructed to change the date on the ballots received after 8 pm on November 3 so as to make it appear that they were received on an earlier date.
Additionally, the Michigan complaint describes software irregularities encountered in that state including those caused by the now-infamous Dominion Voting Systems software, which is mentioned by name.
To remedy these issues, the plaintiffs pray that the court prohibit certification of ballots that were tabulated in violation of the Michigan Election Code. Based on the number of affidavits, and the estimated scope of computerized glitches, that number could amount to over one hundred thousand votes.
It remains to be seen whether the court will take up this action and how it may rule on the matter.  However, a few things are clear. Detroit now joins Philadelphia as beautiful illustrations of how elections can never be conducted.  Second, if these votes are allowed to stand, a plethora of legal voters will be disenfranchised through dilution.  And third, the scope and magnitude of this operation suggests interstate coordination by an overarching planner, funder, and coordinator. Clearly, the stench in Detroit has spread to such a point that it will taint the actions of the judiciary, no matter what it does, and threatens to further tarnish our already tattered Constitution.

After the Election, the Left Demands Purges

Joe Biden is calling for unity following the 2020 presidential election, but it’s clear that many of the former vice president’s supporters view postelection unity as something to create by force and intimidation.
That sort of unity is enforced by ruthless institutional pressure and cancel culture. It’s a tactic that the left already uses through its power in America’s elite institutions, but is looking to redouble if it indeed captures the presidency and the executive branch.
Numerous liberals and left-wingers have demanded punishment of anyone who has worked for, allied with, or generally supported President Donald Trump.

“You can’t heal or reform the GOP who are now an extremist party,” Wajahat Ali, a contributing writer for The New York Times, said on Twitter. “They have to be broken, burned down and rebuilt. When Biden is in power treat them like the active threats to democracy they are. If those who committed crimes aren’t punished then they will be more emboldened.”
Clearly, a two-party system is just too much for some to bear.
It was no surprise to see openly socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., sound exactly like other socialists in history when they’ve amassed power.
In other words, the nice-sounding “democratic” part of socialism gets dropped for the purer variety.

Is anyone archiving these Trump sycophants for when they try to downplay or deny their complicity in the future? I foresee decent probability of many deleted Tweets, writings, photos in the future

That is the true face of socialism, at its core. Socialism is not just about higher taxes, redistribution of wealth, and a generous welfare state. To fulfill its true aims, it requires an enforced equality that defies human nature.
No wonder so many Venezuelan immigrants, many of whom escaped the brutal socialist regimes of Hugo Chavez and Nicolas Maduro, voted for Trump.
But it isn’t just fringe radicals calling for purges. It’s “moderates” and mainstream liberals too.
Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin, who used to call herself a “conservative,” has demanded a “list” of all those who think election fraud may have had a significant impact on the presidential election.

Any R now promoting rejection of an election or calling to not to follow the will of voters or making baseless allegations of fraud should never serve in office, join a corporate board, find a faculty position or be accepted into "polite" society. We have a list.

One wonders if it ever crossed Rubin’s mind what it would mean, if we apply this standard consistently, for those in the media who pursued the debunked Russia collusion accusation from 2016 for the past four years?

In that case, Rubin would very much be on the list.
Perhaps most disturbing of all is the newly created Trump Accountability Project, which aims to catalog every person who ever worked for the Trump administration, even in the smallest and most indirect ways.
Various Democratic staffers and Twitter blue check marks touted this project.
The Trump Accountability Project website, which since has been privatized but may be found in archives, explains that the Trump administration was so monstrous that any of those associated with it must be prevented from “profiting from their experience,” an ambiguous but ominous phrase in context.
So, who made the Trump Accountability Project’s list?
Jordan Davidson at The Federalist spells out the categories of people compiled on one of the website’s documents:

Tabs on the document separate those listed into categories such as ‘Campaign Staff,’ ‘Administration,’ ‘Appointees,’ ‘Donors,’ ‘Law Firms,’ ‘Endorsers’ and ‘Denouncers.’ The ‘Administration’ tab contained names of senior advisors in the White House all the way down to ‘Chief Calligrapher.’ Under ‘Denouncers,’ the project listed Miles Taylor, the low-level bureaucrat [and] anonymous source published and promoted by the New York Times as a ‘senior administration official.’

Even those who turned on Trump are to be deemed complicit.
Regardless of how the presidential contest turns out, this sort of rhetoric and action literally days after Election Day demonstrates how important it is not to give the left every lever of governmental power.
The message they are sending Americans who don’t agree with them is “Join us, or else.”
It shouldn’t be a surprise to see such a movement appear. Unpersoning political “enemies” is entirely in line with the ideology of a militant left that increasingly is becoming mainstream and normalized.
And liberal institutions, one after another, are buckling and relenting to the demands of the far left for conformity and enforced solidarity.
Predictably, the mob no longer is just interested in the statues of long dead figures of America’s past. They are coming for you, and a generous slice of the American “elite” apparently is happy to relent and give them their way.

Meet 5 of the Newly Elected Republican House Members

Conservatives won House races on Election Day and many of these new members are expected to bring fresh perspectives to Capitol Hill as they represent millennials, minorities, the disabled, and immigrants, among others.
Here are five of the House’s incoming freshman Republicans.

1. Kat Cammack, 3rd District of Florida

Kat Cammack defeated Democrat Adam Christensen to win Florida’s 3rd Congressional District with 57.2% of the vote.
Cammack, 32, is a former aide to Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Fla., having served as his chief of staff, deputy chief of staff, and campaign manager. She now will succeed Yoho, who is retiring after four terms.

Born in Denver into a family of cattle ranchers, Cammack is a strong Second Amendment advocate and committed to supporting farmers and ranchers.
The congresswoman-elect completed her bachelor’s degree at Metropolitan State University in Denver before earning a master’s of science degree in national defense and strategic studies at the Naval War College.
Cammack says she became active in politics in 2011 after her family lost their ranch, which she blamed on the Obama administration’s Home Affordable Modification Program, a program intended to help homeowners refinance underwater mortgages.
During her time working for Yoho, she established four new Veterans Affairs clinics in Florida; crafted Project Putnam, intended to “improve the economic, social, educational, and overall development of Putnam County”; and oversaw Yoho’s North Central Florida Human Trafficking Task Force.
Matt Harrison, Cammack’s husband, is a firefighter and paramedic. Together they founded the Grit Foundation, a nonprofit supporting veterans, first responders, and local law enforcement.

2. Madison Cawthorn, 11th District of North Carolina

Madison Cawthorn, 25, will become the youngest member of Congress in modern history when he is sworn in in January.
Cawthorn defeated Democratic candidate Morris Davis to win North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District with 54.5% of the vote.
Born and raised in the 11th District, which encompases much of the westernmost part of the state, Cawthorn hoped to join the Navy and attend the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, to which Mark Meadows, former North Carolina congressman and current White House chief of staff, had nominated him.
Cawthorn was forced to change his life plans when he sustained serious injuries in a car accident in the spring of 2014 that put him in the intensive care unit of a hospital for five weeks.
Cawthorn’s extensive injuries left him partially paralyzed and in a wheelchair. The young congressman-elect says he can relate to people who feel they “have been dealt a bad hand.”
Before running for Congress, he worked as a staff assistant in Meadows’ district office and attended Patrick Henry College in Purcellville, Virginia, for a time. In 2019, he started his own small real estate investment business.
In a campaign video, Cawthorn said that, as a millennial, he plans to bring a fresh perspective to Congress and is committed to saying “no to high taxes [and] no to socialism.”

3. Byron Donalds, 19th District of Florida

Byron Donalds defeated his Democratic opponent, Cindy Banyai, in a landslide, capturing 61.3% of the vote in Florida’s 19th Congressional District.
On his website, Donalds, 42, claims to be “everything the fake news media [say] doesn’t exist: a Trump-supporting, liberty-loving, pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment black man.”
Donalds was raised by a single mother in Brooklyn, New York, and credits her for instilling in him a passion to “leave future generations better than the current [one].”
He settled in Florida after graduating from Florida State University in 2002 with degrees in finance and marketing. He worked in insurance, banking, and finance for a number of years in southwestern Florida and became politically involved in 2016 when he was elected to serve in the state House of Representatives.
In 2017, he was named a “Champion of Economic Freedom” by the nonprofit Americans for Prosperity, and in 2018, the American Conservative Union Foundation honored him with its Award for Conservative Excellence.
Donalds is chairman of the Insurance and Banking Subcommittee of the Florida House of Representatives. Criminal justice reform, education, and elder affairs are three of the issues he has focused on during his time in the state House.
The father of three sons, Donalds and wife Erika live in Naples, Florida. He has served as a youth leader in his church and serves as a volunteer coach for local youth basketball and football leagues.
Donalds has received a 100% rating from Florida Right to Life.

4. Yvette Herrell, 2nd District of New Mexico

New Mexico native and small business champion Yvette Herrell won the election in New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District with 53.9% of the vote, with 95% of the vote reported.
This was Herrell’s second congressional bid. In 2018, she was defeated by Democrat Xochitl Torres Small by a narrow margin of 3,800 votes out of more than 199,000 cast, according to Ballotpedia.org. In their rematch, Herrell won the seat despite being outspent 3 to 1.
Herrell, 56, has committed to “take New Mexico’s values to Congress and work across party lines,” noting endorsements on her website from both former Democratic Rep. Harry Teague and former Republican Rep. Steve Pearce.
Herrell, a Heritage Action for America sentinel, served in New Mexico’s House of Representatives from 2011 to 2019. As a member of the Cherokee Nation, she will be the third Native American woman to serve in Congress, according to the Las Cruces Sun-News.
As an entrepreneur, real estate agent, and former small businesses owner, Herrell says she is prepared to fight against big government overreach. In 2018, the Rio Grande Foundation’s Freedom Index ranked her in first place for upholding principles of economic freedom among more than 100 political leaders in the state.
Herrell doesn’t shy away from a discussion of the border wall and says she is committed to completing it and to standing with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol agents. She also advocates for the growth of America’s military and says New Mexico would be an “ideal location” for the military to develop its new Space Force branch.

5. Maria Elvira Salazar, 27th District of Florida

Congresswoman-elect Maria Elvira Salazar was born to immigrant parents who fled Cuba and came to America to escape Fidel Castro’s dictatorship. Salazar, who turned 59 two days before the election, grew up in Miami and Puerto Rico, where her parents instilled in her the value of freedom.
She defeated Democratic freshman Rep. Donna Shalala in a rematch of their 2018 contest to win Florida’s 27th Congressional District, capturing 51% of the vote, according to Miami’s Channel 4, a CBS affiliate. Shalala served as secretary of health and human services for eight years in the administration of then-President Bill Clinton from 1993 to 2001.
Salazar has lived the American dream, attending the University of Miami before going on to Harvard University to earn a master’s degree in public administration. She has had a successful career as a journalist, becoming a prominent anchor for CNN Español and later covering the Persian Gulf War and El Salvador’s civil war, the latter for Univision.
Salazar served as a Pentagon and White House correspondent for Univision for a number of years before becoming the bureau chief for its Central America division.
As the senior political correspondent for Telemundo in Cuba, Salazar interviewed Castro at the Cuban mission to the United Nations in 1995.
The winner of five broadcasting Emmy Awards, Salazar has been praised for her “passion for freedom and uncovering oppressive, communist, and socialist regimes in Latin America, especially in Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua,” as noted on her website.
Salazar, who has two daughters and lives in Miami with her husband, is a staunch anti-socialist, writing on her website: “Socialism isn’t a romantic ideal as those on the left want us to believe.” She promises to “fight so everyone can pursue the American dream.”

Republican incumbent Sen. Dan Sullivan won re-election for his Alaska U.S. Senate seat on Wednesday, beating out independent challenger Al Gross, who gained the support of Democrats.

Sullivan’s win follows Sen. Thom Tillis’s victory in North Carolina on Tuesday and gives the GOP its 50th seat in the Senate, just shy of the 51 Republican Senators needed to keep the majority.
The two Senate runoff races in Georgia between Republican incumbent Sen. David Perdue and his challenger Democrat Jon Ossoff, as well as GOP Sen. Kelly Loeffler and Democratic candidate Raphael Warnock early next year, will determine whether the GOP will have any formal legislative power until midterms in 2022.
Sullivan, a former United States Marine and former Alaska Attorney General, was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2014, unseating Democrat incumbent Mark Begich by a small margin of just more than 6,000 votes.
In addition to Sullivan’s victory in Alaska, President Donald J. Trump also took the state and its three electoral votes by a comfortable 56.9 percent of the vote with at least 75 percent of the state reporting.
Republicans also managed to flip the state House in the Last Frontier state.

The chairman of the Federal Election Commission Trey Trainor said on Friday voter fraud is taking place in states still counting ballots.
During a Friday appearance on Newsmax TV’s “National Report,” Trainor said locations not granting observers access to watch the ballot counting process could be involved in voter fraud.
Trainor told Newsmax what is obvious to anyone paying attention, “I do believe that there is voter fraud taking place in these places. Otherwise they would allow the observers to go in.”

U.S. and Israeli Jews Deeply Divided on Life and Death Issues

The policy preferences of much of US Jewy seem even more paradoxically perverse—as they are undeniably lending support to political regimes that comprise the diametric opposite of the enlightened liberal values the purport to cherish.

The dichotomy over the US elections between Jews in America and Jews in Israel is stark and startling. While over 70 % of US Jews supported the Democratic candidate, Joe Biden, almost 70% of Israeli Jews prefer the GOP incumbent, Donald Trump.

Plausible amity; puzzling enmity

It is, of course, not hard to understand the Israeli position. After all, despite Trump’s sometimes un-endearing personal demeanor, he has produced a long list of highly favorable policy decisions for Israel, that began to fundamentally change the Middle East and the basic parameters of the Arab-Israeli conflict—including: Recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel; moving the US embassy to the city; defunding URWA (The United Nations Relief & Works Agency—that perpetuates the Palestinian-Arab refugee problem); cutting funding to the Palestinian Authority (PA); acknowledging the legality of Jewish communities in Judea-Samaria (aka “The West Bank”); recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the strategically vital Golan Heights; and pulling out of the perilously defective Iran nuclear deal—imposing harsh sanctions on Tehran’s tyrannical theocracy, and driving its faltering economy to the brink of collapse.
On the other hand, fathoming US Jewry animus to Trump is considerably more difficult. Indeed, putting aside for the moment Trump’s robust support for their kinfolk in the Jewish nation-state, one might have reasonably expected that many domestic policy initiatives launched by Trump would have been eagerly embraced by much of the US Jewish community, who traditionally subscribe to Left-leaning liberal political views .

“Palestinians, desperate for a Biden victory…”

After all, Trump introduced prison reform, and brought unemployment to record lows for minorities. Likewise, he appointed the first woman ever to head the CIA, the second woman ever as Secretary of Homeland Security, and a woman to the bench of the US Supreme Court. Despite fierce opposition from large drug manufacturers, he has pushed for lower prices for prescription drugs, signing several executive orders towards this goal. All of these should have militated toward drawing greater support from the wider Jewish electorate. Nonetheless, the overwhelming majority of US Jews chose to adhere to their almost Pavlovian anti-GOP knee-jerk reaction.
But it is in field of foreign relations that US Jewish backing of a Biden presidency bodes particularly ill.
For while the Trump administration was prepared to confront Israel’s principal enemies with firm resolve, it appears that a Biden administration leans towards charting a course that would be far more considerate of Israel’s foes—and far more compliant in meeting their demands.
Indeed, one election day headline proclaimed “Palestinians, desperate for a Biden victory, hold their breath as America votes”
In similar vein the New York Times wrote: “The Palestinians are counting on a Trump defeat…They don’t even want to think about Plan B… Isolated diplomatically and running out of money… the Palestinians are looking to Tuesday’s election more desperate than ever for a change in Washington.”

Iran: Biden the ‘more promising’ candidate

Thus, Nabil Shaath, a senior adviser to PA President Mahmoud Abbas declared: “He has been the worst American president as far as our cause is concerned…The most important thing as far as we are concerned is that Trump goes”; while PA Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh made the point even more bluntly: “If we are going to live another four years with President Trump, God help us…”
Likewise, the Ayatollahs in Iran harbor a strong preference for Biden. Thus, in a piece headlined: “Why Iran sees Biden as the ‘more promising’ candidate in the U.S. election” CBS News conveyed: “Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif has indicated to CBS News that the Islamic Republic’s leadership would prefer Joe Biden win the U.S. election…”
Bloomberg echoed a similar assessment: “Joe Biden… has signaled he’ll seek to bring Iran back into the 2015 nuclear accord the U.S. brokered…under Barack Obama. That means the economic sanctions President Donald Trump imposed — and tightened further this week—could eventually be eased…”

The Abraham Accords & US Jewry’s indifference to life-and-death issues

A Biden administration would be likely to gravely undermine the emerging Trump-brokered peace/normalization process between Israel and several Arab countries such as the UAE, Bahrain, Sudan and perhaps Saudi Arabia. According to a recent paper by a leading Israeli strategic studies center: “ Joe Biden’s intended policies for the Middle East would completely undermine any existing potential for progress toward normalization between Israel and Saudi Arabia. It would be stopped dead in its tracks. This is because Biden and his advisors have stated unambiguously that they intend to reverse all the…aspects of current US Middle East policy—in other words, all the policies that allowed the Abraham Accords to come to fruition.”
These matters —Iran’s nuclear program, the conflict with the Palestinians and peace with the wider Arab word—are all life and death issues for Israel as the nation-state of the Jewish people.
Yet not only do their kinfolk in the US seem largely indifferent to them; they seem stubbornly bent on support for a candidate committed to policies benignly accommodating to Israel’s mortal enemies.

Touting tyranny: The perverse paradox of US Jewry

Seen in this light, the policy preferences of much of US Jewy seem even more paradoxically perverse—as they are undeniably lending support to political regimes that comprise the diametric opposite of the enlightened liberal values the purport to cherish.
This is something that Israel cannot ignore, and with arguably greater support for it in America emanating from non-Jewish sectors, it may be soon compelled to recalibrate its relationship with US Jewry—or, at least significant portions of it.

ELECTION FRAUD: Michigan Shows 69,000 Votes Were TRANSFERRED From Trump To Biden!

MIT Scientists: Data Analysis Of Election Fraud In MI Shows 69,000 Votes Were TRANSFERRED From Trump To Biden!

Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai, who is a MIT trained data scientist and Fulbright Scholar, along with Bennie Smith a Democrat, who is a software engineer, data analyst and an election commissioner and Phil Evans, who is also a trained engineer and data analyst, discuss some very troubling findings after reviewing the election data coming out of Michigan. Dr. Ayyadurai is a US Senate candidate in Massachusetts, which is a contributing factor as to why he began looking into the integrity of our voting systems.
Dr. Ayyadurai’s discovered through a series of FOIA requests related to his own election that ballot counting machines don’t directly count ballots. Instead, they take an image of the ballot that is submitted to them, and then they tabulate the votes based on the ballot images collected.
Federal election statues dictate that all election records must be held for 22 months. However, Dr. Ayyadurai discovered that many states do not retain the ballot images produced by the machines. The default settings of the machines automatically store the ballot images, so this means election officials are manually disabling the image storage feature.
Because ballot images are not being retained in states like MA and MI, the election results cannot be meaningfully audited, leaving ambiguity as to the actual election outcome. The only way to audit the results of an election without ballot images would be to manually count the ballots, which is very difficult to do.

All the cheats and liars are issuing calls for unity and peace now that they appear to have the upper hand.
On the political scene, it was fake-Catholic Joe Biden’s primary point in his speech to the nation on Saturday night. Meanwhile, those who do and will control him — like Occasional Cortex as just one example — are saying things like lists need to be created of Trump supporters so they can be shut out of society once the Marxists assume power.
And yes, that’s exactly what she said: Keep a database of Trump supporters to ensure they don’t get hired later on. She also took to Twitter saying, “Is anyone archiving these Trump sycophants for when they try to downplay or deny their complicity in the future?”
And if that’s not enough, the blacklist is being pushed by an ex-Obama sportsperson as well. But some stalwarts on the right like the chairman of the American Conservative Union, Matt Schlapp, took to Twitter and said this about the fake calls for getting along: “For Democrats calling for unity, you may want to actually stop counting illegal votes in Nevada first.”
And he could have continued on much more extensively from there — illegal votes and counting are occurring in Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Arizona.
On this matter, according to a survey released this morning by Rasmussen, two weeks before the election, only 6% of voters thought their votes would be counted correctly. Today, that number has more than quadrupled to a whopping 28%. More than a quarter of the U.S. population has serious doubts that their vote was treated fairly.
Add to that that findings from Monday show 70% of Republicans believe the election was neither fair nor free. These are gigantic numbers, and they reflect the reality that if Biden is sworn in, a large number of Americans will regard his presidency as illegitimate — because he and the Marxist Democratic machine (which has control of nearly all the states in question) simply cheated and cheated on a grand scale.
For more than four years, Americans were dragged through the daily bombardment of a pack of lies about Trump and anything they could pin on him — Russia, Ukraine, COVID, racism, rioting, the economy. If it could stick, they threw it at him.
The Democrats traffic in lies and so too do a number of Republicans who are in league with them in the swamp. And speaking of the swamp, the U.S. bishops as a body have been just as despicable, actually more so.
And the release yesterday of the long-awaited McCarrick Report drives that point home even further. Pope Francis is completely exonerated from any guilt or complicity in resurrecting McCarrick. So too are the closest associates of McCarrick, who are believed unquestioningly when they claim they were “shocked” to learn of this for the “first time” in the Summer of Shame.
It was all the fault of a canonized saint, the report concludes — and a handful of dead guys and Abp. Vigano. The report goes on for huge portions about the details of McCarrick’s foul deeds, like we all didn’t know that already, salacious details aside.
But when it comes to revealing certain things like the network that protected him, cooperated with him, personally profited by protecting him with their silence, it falls completely silent, except of course for naming the dead guys. And Vigano.
The report is, as long suspected, a giant whitewash, admitting mostly what was already known and reported by outfits like Church Militant (as well as many in the secular media).
For example, it speaks of McCarrick being well known for his cash payments — the “envelope culture” it’s called — detailing that he used to hand out envelopes full of large cash payments, but it steers very clear of saying whom he gave those to.
McCarrick handed out cash payments — large sums of money — for decades, especially to many in Rome. He used to carry that cash in his diplomatic pouch while traveling. But it’s certainly strange that the report confesses that again (since it is already well known) but deliberately fails to say who got the cash.
Likewise, the most well-known victim of “Uncle Ted,” a man who endured almost two decades of reprehensible abuse, James Grein, is never mentioned by name. His entire life is reduced to a mere footnote near the end of the report, and only then in reference to John Paul.
To have assembled a report on McCarrick with no reference to Grein whatsoever would be like issuing a study on the Scriptures without writing one syllable about the Holy Spirit. Unless you are a person fascinated with details about something you already have a working knowledge of, this report is a waste of time.
The very information so urgently sought of Pope Francis simply is not there. It can’t be. His inner circle, those who owe their careers to McCarrick, are the very ones advising and counseling the Pope — and Pope Francis knows that.
So what’s the relationship between the lies coming from the political Left and the deception coming from Rome? They are both pretending to want unity, but they despoil the word. Faithful Catholics and conservative Americans have simply lost trust in the respective institutions and those who run them.
Giant tech, Joe Biden, news media, higher education, you name it: They are no longer to be trusted. Likewise with Rome, a cesspool of deceit and cover-up. And neither camp is ever held to account — in this life, that is.
They want a phony unity, built on the lie. And what is the lie? The lie is that what matters is this world and this world alone, with no reference to God. The political Marxists out and out deny God and instrumentalize the good of the earth.
The theological Left doesn’t out and out deny God, but they instrumentalize the things of God. But each group is serving the Devil. Period. There is no such thing as unity built on a lie. Unity can only be had when it is built on truth.
The Vatican as well as Washington, D.C. have placed themselves in the service of the lie — both politically and theologically. This must be resisted with every fiber of your being. You must fight this evil — even if you have to die in the fight. But surrender is not an option.
Compromise with the Devil (in politics and especially morality) is how a person’s earthly life and, most especially, eternal life are doomed.

What you saw on the morning of November 7, 2020 were the convulsions of America the Beautiful before her death. A massive voter-fraud has been going on within our electoral system to make the U.S. into a Venezuela or USSR. The credibility of the entire electoral process was poisoned. On the afternoon of November 7, 2020, Joe Biden was declared 46^th President by the media that abetted his candidacy. No one had understood nor been aware why Joe chose November 7, 2020, no one commented on the date. I got it the moment Joe proclaimed his winning. I knew the reason because I am a former Soviet attorney, writing about Russia and Putin’s KGB for the last thirty-five years. It was all a part of Putin’s vendetta against America for the collapse of the Soviet Union to make a demented Biden as President and a giggling twit as VP. Oh boy! Putin will play his puppet Biden like a Stradivarius!
Writing about Russia and her Intel for years, I warned you by my refrains: Knowledge of Russia and her Intel is a MUST. I also warned Republicans to learn, because I saw the Democrat Party’s transformation from JFK’s to Lee Harvey Oswald’s and knew the result. Then in Russia, I worked within the legal community at the time of the KGB Chairman Yuri Andropov and had known his plan to subvert and take over America. Then in the 1960s I didn’t believe his design would succeed, and was stunned to see its gradual implementation when I immigrated to America. Before my eyes the CBS 60 minutes was transformed by Socialist propaganda, the Universities and Colleges are unrecognizable, Newsweek and Time lost their objective attitude to events, and Truman’s Party died. I knew why it happened: Vladimir Putin was a devoted disciple of both Stalin and Andropov and continued their legacy.
If you think that the Collapse in 1991 of the Soviet Union has changed Russia, you are wrong, you don’t know Russia and her Intel. As a matter of fact, it wasn’t a collapse of the USSR, it was a collapse of the Socialist economy that couldn’t produce and compete with capitalism. Yet, the collapse didn’t touch the security apparatus (the real power in the country)—the KGB. Using the instability and chaos in Russia during those days, Socialist KGB took over and catapulted Vladimir Putin to presidency—and the circle of authority was established. Today Russia is run by the KGB apparatus. The old socialist economy was replaced by a crony capitalism under the secured KGB’s total control… Considering the political setting worldwide, an awareness of the Russian leader’s shenanigans is imperative. Vladimir Putin and the Political Setting of Socialism/Communism

Had you read my books and this column, you would be familiar with Putin and his career. Putin, a counter-intelligence officer of the KGB, had never changed his political view. As a lawyer with a major in the International Law, he has instilled Socialist mentality throughout the world since 1975. Socialism has its modus operandi: lies, deceit, and fraud combined with symbols and slogans. Socialism is a lawless system, a cult, a religion. The Soviet Socialist economy collapsed in 1991 because it was built on lies, deceit and fraud. Yet, Putin’s vendetta continues running the Socialist ideas. There is an axiom in political philosophy: peaceful coexistence between Capitalism and Socialism is a myth—they are absolute mortal enemies and one of them must be defeated. It is a law of survival hence, Russia and China will be together fighting capitalism. The major role in this fight for now belongs to the devoted disciple of Stalin and Andropov—Vladimir Putin.

Andropov’s Project: Operation Barbarossa

Andropov’s design was a simple and arrogant one: to infiltrate simultaneously the media and all American security apparatus. In my writings I called it—Operation Barbarossa, because I didn’t believe in its validity. I was wrong. Fixing America was begun with the first American Manchurian President elected in 1992. He created the Dems/apparatchiks and delegated George Stephanopoulos (in my opinion the KGB agent) to culminate the changes that had been occurring in America’s media. Bill Clinton has polluted the courts system and Socialist propaganda machine indoctrinated majority of Americans. The second American Manchurian President was elected in 2008 and continued to build up the process of transformation to Socialism. Barack Obama did it openly before your eyes. All of that was possible due to a massive infiltration of Putin’s KGB in the midst of our entire society. History is the Mother of all sciences and I knew the Russian history of Socialist Revolution. The Socialist ideology has its modus operandi and I was stunned by finding that Biden has followed its exact modus operandi in his speeches: lies, deceit, and fraud. Biden by himself was a total fraud, a demented old political crime family boss (the Big Guy). Moreover, there was a main Stalin’s postulate. Never admit crime committed, instead accuse the opposition in this exact crime. It was incredible to watch Joe Biden exercise that precise Stalin legacy. Obama and Biden have released a cascade of accusations and witch hunts during last five years, trying to make Trump an enemy of the American people. Analyzing all charges against Trump you will find that exact crimes had been committed by the Democrats. Trump had never teamed up with Putin, dishonest Charlatan, Joe Biden did work for Vladimir Putin. Here are some evidence:
Obama delegated Joe Biden as a point man to Ukraine in 2013-2014. Biden traveled to Ukraine with his son Hunter. Neither Biden nor his son Hunter speaks Ukrainian or knows Ukrainian Law, which is completely different from American Case Law. Nevertheless, Hunter became connected to pro-Russian oligarch Zlochevsky-Burisma Holdings. Burisma Holding is the appendix of former Ukrainian President Yanukovych, a close friend of Vladimir Putin, who ran to Russia to escape the Ukrainian’s people wrath for destruction of the Ukrainian Republic…
Hunter Biden in 2014 was appointed to Burisma’s board, while at the same time his father was leading the Obama administration’s diplomatic dealings with Ukraine. Zlochevsky was a Minister of Energy in the Yanukovych government, which means he is the Russian asset, like Yanukovych himself.
How could this happen and how did Hunter Biden get an immediate connection to pro-Russian oligarch Zlochevsky? There is only one answer to the question: the Obama administration had cooperated with the previous pro-Russian administration in Ukraine; that way Hunter Biden had been tied with pro-Russian oligarch. By the way, Joe Biden himself had emailed Vadim Pozharskyi, a top executive from Ukrainian gas firm Burisma (in my opinion a KGB agent). Tony Babulinsky’s credibility and his testimony have confirmed Biden’s long-term help to Putin. Do you remember Biden’s Quid-pro-Quo? Biden’s threat to Ukrainian government about $1 billion to fire the Ukrainian prosecutor is also a vivid evidence of his work in Putin’s behave to cover-up Biden’s entire involvement.
Aware of that, let me give you my ideas of how it was done by Putin’s KGB in America. 20 years ago, I gave you the realization of WW III being waged by Socialist forces against Western civilization: Recruitment and Infiltrations, Drugs and Assassinations. There are several reports on Election night that five battleground states quit counting on Election night.

This never happens.
The liars at Far Left Politifact later came out and said the counting did not stop in these states.

In Michigan they dumped 138,000 votes for Biden in the middle of the night.
Not one vote went for Trump.

This happened over and over again.
Why? Why did this happen at 11 PM on Election night?

“US Cuts Refugee Admissions, Creating Doubt for Tens of Thousands of Applicants,” by Aline Barros, VOA, November 6, 2020 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

The United States will admit a maximum of 15,000 refugees for fiscal 2021, an all-time low, according to a notice the Trump administration published Friday in the Federal Register.
The administration also suspended entry of most refugees from Syria, Somalia and Yemen, citing terrorism risks….
Humanitarian organizations told VOA the number of Syrian, Somali and Yemeni refugees already referred for resettlement in the U.S. was almost double the number established by the cap.
As of October 27, nonprofit groups confirmed that 27,023 individuals were in the “pipeline” for resettlement in the United States, pending security checks.
The breakdown among the countries was 12,924 from Somalia, 14,084 from Syria and 15 people from Yemen, according to two humanitarian organizations….
Contacted by VOA, a State Department spokesman declined to comment on whether refugees from Somalia, Yemen and Syria already in the resettlement process would be rejected based on their nationality or the lowered refugee cap.
Friday’s notice specifies that exceptions can be made for refugees of the three restricted nations “who have been persecuted or have a well-founded fear of persecution on account of religion” or were referred by a U.S. embassy….
Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden vowed during the campaign to raise the refugee admissions ceiling to 125,000….

Good news from the election: Americans are not racists — The United States has clearly overcome its ‘original sin’

It is not very easy to find good news in the American election. Or to announce whatever good news one has found in a tone that is not surly. But it seems to me there is very good news here on the perennial accursed topic of race, what Barack Obama rightly called America’s original sin.
As Kurt Mahlberg wrote recently on Mercatornet, perhaps the biggest surprise of all is that “at this year’s election, Trump gained ground with almost every demographic except — wait for it — white men.” He did better among blacks, Latinos, Jews, even LGBT voters. And as Mahlberg observed, this outcome seemed to displease and baffle many pundits; he acerbically quoted Paul Krugman’s characteristic tweet that: “The more I look at this election, the less I imagine I understand.”
Fair enough. Pundits get things wrong and occasionally even admit to being baffled. Honesty is good. But Krugman’s tone is not really one of self-examination or reconciliation; it reads more like a condescending snarl at dumbo minorities who don’t know what’s good for them.
Mahlberg finds two things to like in this outcome. First, he says “everyday Americans just don’t buy woke-think” including non-white, non-male, non-straight etc. And as a result: “Whatever the final outcome of this election, the future on the right hand side of politics is looking bright and energetic.”
I think he is right on both points. But horses before carts, people. The really good news is buried behind Krugman’s bafflement and Mahlberg’s consolation, is incredibly good news. It is that America is not a racist swamp. If it were, all these minorities including the one that’s not, which is women, and the one that soon won’t be, which is non-whites, would be huddling round the Democrats for protection and warmth. As many long did. And not without cause.
It will not do to deny the obvious. For a great many years the United States was the land of the free, provided you were not dark-skinned. Various pallid ethnic minorities encountered a certain degree of bigotry, from the Irish in the 19th century to southern and eastern Europeans into the early 20th, especially if they were Jewish. But they generally found that life was better the moment they set foot in America and it just kept improving. The bigotry was real, but not nearly as bad as, say, anti-Semitism in the Russian empire. And every day in every way it became less oppressive.
For blacks and others with dark skin, and for Native Americans, the situation was different. Dreadfully different. So appallingly different that one blanches at descriptions of it. It was true and there’s no denying it.
As a result, it was the Republican Party that got the overwhelming majority of the few votes blacks were able to cast even in the North from the end of the Civil War down through the Great Depression. But the black vote then swung massively to the Democrats, even though they were still the party of white supremacy in the south, because the New Deal included them with an unprecedented degree of fairness and they were hardest hit by hard times. The GOP remained formally committed to civil rights to a greater degree than the Democrats until the Johnson Administration in the mid-1960s. But after that the Democrats dropped the Confederate flag literally and figuratively and good for them doing so.
Now here the conventional story becomes disturbing. Supposedly, when the parties basically switched clothes around the time of Richard Nixon, trading electoral bases, it was because as the Democrats became enlightened on race the GOP started blowing nasty dog whistles to which tens of millions of Americans nastily responded.
If true it would confirm Hillary Clinton’s claim about the “basket of deplorables”. But it was not true. Because if there is no denying that America denied freedom to blacks, there is also no denying that the freedom in question was real, precious and ultimately extended to blacks and other minorities too.
I do not say that all Republicans voted from pure motives. I do not say that no Republicans were racist. (Of course I do not say all Democrats voted from pure motives either, or that none of them were racist, including a surprisingly large, vocal and loathsome fringe that hates white people.) But one of the things that has poisoned American politics, and here I do take on a surly tone briefly, is the torrent of abuse unleashed at conservatives for being unreconstructed haters.
If many supported Trump, and excused or even welcomed his belligerent tone, it is not because they were racist. It’s because they were sick of being unfairly called filthy names as a matter of course. And who would not be?
Of course if their reaction were driven by a guilty conscience it would be inexcusable. But it was not. It was driven by resentment at being abused relentlessly and without cause. And if Democrats want to know who lowered the tone of American politics, in addition to looking to their own unwavering support for Bill Clinton, they should examine carefully their own harsh rhetoric not just about Republicans but about systemic racism, pervasive bigotry, haters and so on.
I have found this “narrative” depressing as well as infuriating. Not so infuriating that I ever excused or backed Trump; I will not be dragged down into the boiling mud. But it was so unfair and so discouraging given the amazing progress Americans have made on race, to some extent pulling the rest of the world with them. Oh, we mock and jibe, but what other Western nation has had a non-white head of government?
It was only 40 years from the riots of the 1960s and the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr to the election of Barack Obama. What comparably inspiring story exists in the annals of human history? And yet in the face of it, those most ostensibly committed to racial harmony kept irresponsibly sowing the seeds of bitter division, telling black Americans their white neighbours despised them, that they could not get a break, that America stinks and always will and so on and so on in a foul torrent. But it wasn’t true and the intended audience increasingly knows it.
My silver lining thus is not that more blacks and other official victim groups voted Republican. I do think it’s a good thing. But my silver lining is why they did it. It’s because the whole story of America as unredeemable, deplorable, loathsome and structurally oppressive is just wrong. And I welcome the growing recognition of it because I welcome the thing being recognized.
What becomes of American partisan politics going forward? I don’t know. I don’t know whether Biden can heal, Trump will finally go away, the old bipartisan consensus on unaffordable spending will continue, America will fall as Rome fell. In any case I want good government not partisan victory, and know that those who put their faith in politics generally face disillusionment in short order. But it’s not the point.
The point is that America’s original sin really does seem to have been healed. Its lingering effects have not, and will not easily be erased. But the millions who voted for Trump, even those currently suffering a mental breakdown at his defeat, are not racists. Especially not those who are themselves not white and are not ashamed to be seen with those who are.
So there’s some very good news amid the wreckage and anxiety.
